i only suggested 10 because I think Anet’s system runs by 5’s and 10s. I can’t remember where but way back during beta someone mentioned it as a point versus 8’s when asked about gvg similar pvp

Would 5 bunkers running supplies to build npc army, yet do nothing but keep the lord alive and tick points on supplies work?
I’m glad we have EU folk to kindly beta test these things prior to me coming home from work. I’d say extend the stronghold beta out another day for the folks who have missed a few hours of playtime. just being nice
I think points are only secondary if you run out of time. So if you have a 20 minute battle the timer goes up and whoever accumulated the most points wins.
Having the lord’s battle in the middle would also be a great way to put a finish on the game.
I don’t think dmg goes through the gate if that’s what you mean. But if you are hitting the npc’s over the gate landing on them when attacking. I don;t know what to say. Not working as intended?
I don;t want to read every thought just yet… sorry I am at work and haven’t much time but does anyone know whether or not Stronghold will be able to be a 10v10 in custom arenas? Or will it always be limited to 5. it seems perfect for a split squad map.

On topic: I support any style of GvG that comes in the form of 10v10, 15v15 deathmatch. Even if it has lords and heroes and the other irrelevant items that we will grow to overcome. I still have hope for the Stronghold map to grow in scale and other deathmatch maps to come later if popular.
Whoa … I thought stronghold will be able to go up to 10v10 in custom. I musta misread that or hoped that.
Even if it is only 5v5, I can imagine if it gains popularity that anet may consider a 10v10 version.
oh lol no I wasn’t referring to map caps. I thought the endeavour was to help supplement information per server to understand the map caps. Like what average map q’s are during what periods coupled with some screenshots of commanders counting there zerg. All good dancingmonkey

Seems silly to have such simple achievements in pve yet a huge discrepency in time required for wvw. I mean, Escort 500,000 total caravans in WvW. I do my fair share of dolyak escorting to help supply lines some days… but it would literally take me 20 years playing 4 hours a day
Try 10s first, before knocking it, it’s different comp but no less fun. 20s is ridiculously large and you may as well zerg at that point. This is just a # of player death match anyway.
I don’t know why 15s isn’t possible, that hasn’t been clarified.
1) You are on BG, you will be fine… try to help the larger force following a commander and be careful. At 18, you are very easy to kill as the scaling for your stats is kinda wonky. Just forewarning ya, you go gung ho leroy style … you will dirt nap often until you get a feel for the battle.
2) We all started somewhere.
3) Yes, plus you will get WXP which helps unlock siege skills for wvw use only
4) The currency in WvW is primarily badges. Plus gold and karma, but you will need badges to buy pvp gear. You get alot while you level up.
5) What did I forget to ask that I will want to know?
WvW runs on supply. Do your best to always have supply, and use your supply as much as possible (build siege, repair walls gates, etc) Siege is very critical.
If following a commander, let them drop siege. They will generally drop superior siege versus normal siege.
A faster way to level is in EOTM, but you can do both.
There is a dolyak in your home map that you can talk to to get a one time buff for gaining more wxp.
You WvW populus generally use a server voice comms and community website… talk to others to get the details. I’m from TC, so I don’t know your info but you can get it from any commander.
It helps to always join in a party if you can. Some people may give you a hard time for brinnging a uplevelled, but most will understand if you explain you are new to wvw.
…. that’s all I can think of from the top of my head.

Could be a one off… should be able to place it on the lip, but not half way up the wall. I’ve seen flame rams placed half way up the gate too. Think its just buggy once in a blue moon.

+1. It would be nice to have a server channel that crossed maps. So if you need reinforcements you can put a tell in a server only channel
I laugh at the back and forth … 111 blobbers still 111 blob down guys on AC’s … even more so than people following a specific strategy. You see it all the time … one group moves a little closer to bait any CD’s and a handful of 111 heroes charge and crush the guy on the AC.
Back on topic, siege is used all the time for any number of purposes. Fights groups tend to identify when faced off with a non fights group and … move on. As another posted already way up the chain. It doesn’t make either group stronger or weaker … they just look to another match up with like minded competitors. As does the map blob or other group who dropped the siege… they will carry on there merry little way to go to their next objective. Which is likely a supply depot to top up.
Neither are superior to one another. They just play differently.

Sounds like you got baited. Did you happen to notice if the tags were the same? Sometimes duelers know each other and go for a small skirmish fight … this though, sounds like you got baited away and it was a 1v1 against the thief. Only you were not informed.

Personally, I enjoy the melee this game offers better than other mmo’s … the combat style is more enjoyable. I don’t enjoy sitting on AC’s.

Yes. Fighting is fun. But siege is a part of the game… everyone usues it all the time. Preference and enjoyment for me though is in the battle toe to toe mano a mano.

JQ’s bloated – they really don’t need more. BG is better to battle against anyways. More skill overall but balanced in population. TC rocks cause we don’t take anything too serious. Just have fun. All T1 and likely T2 NA’s pretty full up as it stands. It really doesn’t matter between them all. You’ll get a lot of the same.
One tip… try to transfer off hours… during low periods. If you look during NA primetime – you’ll never get in.

We did a flying V formation … that was kinda funny. Then we got bored of the joke and logged out. At least Anet does have a sense of humour.
I’m not getting involved in your discussion together … just saying what relates to myself and how I play. I play for the community. We do all sorts of stuff. Including duels. Please have an argument with someone willing to join. I am not. That is why I did not quote you.
For me the good of the server has very little to do with how many towers we are capping, the server is good when the majority of the players are having fun.

I’m on TC, we have the entire RP community on the server yet our Q is non existent. If we Q, it’s only one map or 2 maps with less than a 10 man Q. I’d expect HoT to increase the population, but not anywhere close to 500 or even 100.

We had the quaggans (PvE) initially in alpine, it was replaced by Bloodlust (ppk) over the evolution. Whose to say that Oasis (PvE) won’t somehow evolve in time to a PvP centric?
All good things come in time.
500 is a long stretch. They are replacing the existing Alpine borderlands with the new one. So there will be effectively 3 copies of the map available.
It still doesn’t help the night capping that lower tier servers have difficulty with. But i like the ideas listed.
How about upgrades to servers?
The problem with the system is you can’t immediately tell there is a duel going on. I bet more people would just let it be if they saw a flag over there characters.

Fights are generally a bi product of capturing enemy objectives. If your in a certain map and no one is coming to stop you … encourage the commander to go for their keep. 9 times out of 10 … you’ll get your fight.
EDIT: Please note, that I do enjoy the engagements more than capping stuff … but sometimes it really is tough to get a good battle going.
Heavy Loot bags… that’s the reward. Heavy loot bags a plenty. When you get some engagements. But I heard on comms last night someone purposely avoiding a certain server last night and was like wtfbbq? Even though everyone said to hit that person, commandeer headed the other way, en route to get his followers basically farmed. Definitely the one off situation, as I’ve never seen any other commander pull crap like that.

You are not alone in this. I enjoy battling as much as the next guy… and when a commander tags up and hits empty targets and avoids battles all together? I grow bored fast and log out.
I won’t call it bad commanding… but I will call the ones who engage better.
I get that on lag… then lag recovery (character does everything extremely fast like APM3000). But sounds like yours lasted for longer duration.
