Yes, I’ll second Little’s frustration. Defense is pivotal but feels like very under-rewarding work. I know people/pug’s random individuals may not like the work, and prefer to go zerg (both for safety in numbers while going to attempt a takeover, and the rewards seem continuous) … if this was the same with D, it would be much more attractive to random individuals.

It’s so frustrating to see a great advancement, followed up with a unmanned, defensless keep. I mean, I am not sure here, but I prefer at least trying to make it a little harder, or slow down the enemy’s speed by helping out defensively~ but often it feels very lonely. Very very lonely – because people want to go pew pew pew and not sit and repair a wall being continually hammered by a treb. I am at a lose on this one – and no idea how others are able to have success here.

Outside of a guild member/s/ who you can ask … how does this aspect of the game get escalated as something that is important or fulfilling to a random person?

On topic of the overall week ~ every server … job well done. I’ve never stayed up this late ‘ever’ because the competition is so fierce. I can’t be doing this all the time ~ I’m dead tired, but only 1 more night to go. What a great, enjoyable week of competition – it has highlighted many things which we could improve upon. Just wanted to thank all who are also in the same shoes for their time they have put into WvW. I know all servers are feeling it.

Empty pockets, bags under my eyes – not even any time to really do anything but got on, get in, and go help something.

So what I’m reading their is there is a viable way of doing this through some form of assistance with each squad. I find in most situations commanders are already hemmed between the strategy and tactical approach, alongside keeping open lines of communication between eachother on progress. There’s alot on their plates multi-tasking as is. So while pre-planning and getting ready … and even through out execution … explain the goal, process and why we are doing what we are doing continually. hmmm interesting thought, first for me. I’m certain this is already in place within the commanders thoughts. I know they are very busy individuals, always. And any way to streamline and help grow our player base & overall server knowledge is a plus.

If DH PUG’s would have enough discipline and focus to defend SM such as Maguuma PUG’s we wouldn’t have this back in forth flipping going on in the first place.

It seems we are almost formalizing something along these lines, but some of the persistent issues that continue to happen which – communication can only help so much:

1. Take a keep – we set a few members to upgrade it and run supplies. Commander or members /map chat to pugs DO NOT TAKE SUPPLY FROM TOWER or said name of place, please get your supply from ‘x,y’
2. Buck up on upgrade 1 – and there is always a slow stream of peeps who just don’t ‘get it’. They *could freely run 50-100 feet in any direction to hit ‘said’ supply camp. But they don’t because they don’t care ~ and too worried they can’t keep up with which ever zerg they are trying to follow.

Then we have the good ol’ issue of … and this one is prevailent on all servers….

Yay we hit it, took it, gj all, lets go get more …. without any thought into retention. And on top, have the audacity to take blame with commanders for not running aimlessly and taking things down. There really is little thought … or intelligence to PUGs …

Structure and discipline is important in WvW … while many of us do understand that, and try to communicate it to random players to help the better of the world. There is absolutely no incentive for them to care. They want numbers, and monetary reward. You get 0 of that in defensive roles building up your backline towers.

I can tell you, this week … more than any ~ the above is a necessity. Communicating this nicely in game / in battle / chats / voice comms … really never resides within the PUGs realm of ‘care’

Educating them constantly is really not getting them anywhere. They want monetary rewards or its not worth their time.

I spent – I don’t know what was that 6 hours with a 2 guild mates and another member from QQ @ WC in Eternal last night building defense and helping retain some level of strength on the wall/doors while mags kept hammering them. While being available for the supply camp defense if/when needed.

So I’m open to any suggestions here how to train or education the above mentality into the average joe gamer? I’m open to suggestions from other servers here.

Mags~ I’m tired, we are all tired, and getting … ummm less rich by the day courtesy of this weeks match up.

Always open to inputs – this week has been really intense. I’d like to get some ideas or inputs to see if there are some steps we can/ or at least I can take to help in this department. Me whining to Anet to say – ‘gives me cookie for upgrading and watching keep’ is not a solution. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

Yes, there are alot of resources. Namely guilds on your server. To give you the coles notes to get you going:

Your server will be either red/green/blue. You can check this by clicking your B button. You probably already know this.

There are 4 maps, a home borderland for each server, and a central enternal battleground.

On the maps, you will see various icons. You can scroll over them to see what they are. Keeps/Supply Camps/Power nodes/Veteran Scouts .. and on eternal battlegrounds StoneMist Castle.

There is a timer at the top of your screen – when that reaches 0 your world accumulates points based on what you own (is your color).

Other enemies will appear there world colors.

That is a start, but i have to head home now … maybe I can add more later. Objective is to capture places, but watch out … some things AI and players hit like trucks. Try to ask your world for help.

It may help if you add your world, so others who read this can also offer assistance.

It is cheezy, but many people do it. My suggestion(s)…

Siege is siege. Your lucky yours never got hit to begin with. Consider siege not a commodity that is meant to stand, and every time you drop a build site, consider how fast they will drop.

Now the corpses. Sure, somebody wants to lay dead for sight, go ahead, 1 less player on there map fighting, sitting and watching. I’ve seen as many as 8-10 sitting last night after a great battle at a supply camp. they want to take numbers, they want to try to determine classes, so they can throw a counter of sorts.

Get off your seige and run towards there keep out of LoS of him, see if he leaves. An unmanned siege not hitting anything is not a threat. Your going to lose it one way or the other.

Not happy with that – me neither, like you I like to hurt things … keep firing, – because you’ve now hit a time limit till your siege is set to expire. Slim chance they still will not hit it, but better chance you have less than a minute left to do some more damage. Hammer it out, till you have to leave (for your life), get out of LoS, run off and keep eyes on the keep. Give it a minute, they will come. Most like to visually run up to the said location to confirm nothing is around and danger is clear. When they move, your window of opportunity is open again. Rinse repeat

You don’t like this tactic, I kinda think it’s cheesy too. But I also think Siege on top of a crappy 2 foot wide vista is also cheesy. I mean, there is no way that thing can stand 20 feet in the air, on a ledge that small. But you do what you gotta to get it down. Siege location/placement is just as bad as players corpse sighting.

I can’t put my car on a ledge that small, how the hell does a cata or treb stay up there?

I’m impartial – because both sides of this story have issues.

@ Threnn & Ninein.4782 – Wow … bang on the button. What a night last night was in the BL. To summarize some highlights I thought worthy of sharing … that first Treb in front of AH, guarded by what felt like 40, had given us trouble. I know it wasn’t 40 – just felt like it, we tried with 5 initially when you only had a dozen or so … and fell way short. Then again with a dozen of our own, and again only grazed it. Eventually we got it down, but it was a battle. Then Redwater, oh wow, I spent the better portion of time on the edge of my chair, smashing my keyboard, swinging my camera – just massive. Then when you made the valiant sweep, and took Greenlaker tower ~ we really had some issues, we could hold it out for a while, but we knew we were low on bodies (too many are dog tired right now, personally I’ve only gotten 3 hours sleep each of the past 2 nights). When we were down to AH, there was the call … the last stand. Inside we all new to give it what we could till we couldn’t anymore. We spent a ton of time pushing, guarding and updgrading the hell out of that place, and were seriously concerned with the treb hitting the wall, and no one who could lay sight where we could hit it. We just couldn’t get eyes on that kitten thing. No mesmers, no thieves on at all – and to many roaming parties cut us off, and all were running on fumes. Eventually we were able to pull together I think 7 of us to get in there (seriously was about 50% of our pop at that point – we had a lot who had to catch up on shut eye – homework and have been on for hours on end and needed a break before they drop dead). Seriously – we are gassed, I’m sure you guys are too.

-EDIT- remembered one more notable to those who stayed up till they dropped. I forget the camp name – redvale? Where you guys laid ample seige that was bloody fun. It literally was. We both had little numbers left, and that made my night – like the icing on the cake. Not sure – but I believe it was maguuma’s. May be wrong though, because dragonbrand were getting online and there numbers were growing by the minute. From very little pop – to enough to take a keep in a very short amount of time (post 2am PST closer to 3am)

Threnn, congrats on losing your commander virginity last night, what a way to do it.

What a night, what a week. To all worlds, and guilds involved in this weeks match up, job well done! By far the most fun to date for me.

DH here … and piggybacking on this … because we have the opposite issue. Great NA timezone coverage, but 2am we all gets sleepies zzz … and yes, barely the numbers to hold SM for 15 minutes or so defensively while Dragonbrands large zerg comes in the door. Fun battle though, but not enough presence to retain it because we all have to go to bed ~ and work the next morning.

Imagine a world where DH + DB + Mag’s combined. Full coverage lol. Your the reason our Asian squad has issue, we have little more than strike squads running at that time.

Loving it. I’ve been on both sides of the tale, and it’s either lead to not enough enemies on the map when you have the orbs, or not enough of your players because they only play fair weather style and don’t stick around when your getting schlacked.

No orbs this week = absolutely great week to date. Been much more close, and stalemated, but pretty sure that’s more around peak times and playerbase then anything.

I can’t see thieves remaining the way they are. Yes, I love them, and have one coming up – but by the time I’m anything effective – I can already see some changes coming. I Wv3 it’s really starting to lean to Tv3 … one way or the other- it seems like whenever this happens … change is imminent. Just going to put that out there.

To the OP … if your going to only play one character and learn it, level it and learn the ins and outs of Wv3 as your end game fun – Mesmer is great. Warrior is a lot of fun too imo. Seen some pretty decent necro’s out there.

Not many engineers – seen some, but they seem to have the least numbers. Where as ’thief’s I see everywhere … actually correction, I see them briefly and then they disappear… and a few seconds pass with no sight, and I’m dead wondering what the hell killed me. Extremely lethal and deadly – but I don’t want to suggest thief as an option, because I just get a gut feeling that there will be tweaks in the near future. Until then … the reign and kingpins imho

@Slamz … sorry … your dead wrong. Jumping puzzles only give you a slim chance at golem prints. Most of the time you’ll get carts and ballista. It really sounds like your just want to take away from the game, and level the playing field to your expectations, versus getting together with your friends and doing the grunt work. It sucks, but its worth it. Anet does a good job here, they have stats on this stuff, and it all comes to play. Sorry, but the amount of money sync that wvw already is, please don’t complain about the 1 thing that helps alleviate cost. I’d rather sync that cash into my repair bills and small siege for the night. Many people drop upwards of 5 siege prints a night, and commanders well, let’s not even go there. I’ve seen them drop 50 silver per keep take over on zerg runs, only to have it lifted 1 minute later. This happens all day long on every server, and I know we can all say … “ya wow I can’t believe they dropped the 2 arrow carts, 2 ballista, 1 cata, and 1 treb” just there and lost it all because of that darn zerg following 1 min behind. Happens to us all, everyday, all the time. What about the poor guy who gets stuck refreshing things just to keep them live? He surely can’t stop that zerg alone.

Siege is a big part of WvW, and strategy.

@ krojack … +1 to you post, amen to that. We put the time and effort in to get the prints (seriously it takes time, and sometimes can be frustrating), or buy it through gems > gold > merchant.

BTW – all in EB last night ~ what a blast that was. It fully felt like Gumer’s and dragonkitten (multiple times) had us tag teamed. The best was the flip flopping of SM. Hottest potato yet. Great week all ~ good battles all over the map (keeps, open field, and camps).

Enjoying the event, but man … my running inventory space took a major hit. I now have even more stackables to manage. So many random things = /pain … I could care less about food and the things like that. I do care about the crafting mats, and candy corn … bags etc.

Suggestion to reward defending

If your going to open this suggestion for those ‘defending’, then the mechanism also needs to address those who contribute to the defense by running supplies. <<- this = 0 benefit and no incentive for ‘joe random’ to actually act and help a server causing most of the strategists or commanders themselves to spend 10 mins or so running back and forth.

If there was something in place to provide general incentive to others to take on the initiative, then commanders could focus more on strategy and communication.

I like the idea, but I’m also one of those guys who pops on see’s a takeover, I see a volunteer offer to defend, so I offer my services running supplies. Would I rather be dropping a treb and supplying that so I can go ahead and sit on it pew pew pew… sure. But it always seems to boil down to supplies or lack there of being the factor in a win/lose. So I’m happy to help the guy who offered to sit and keep an eye out, run supplies for whatever he needs to give him a fighting chance.

I’m actually liking the idea quite a bit. This week, our wvw battles shine the best, and only challenged by our servers /rants on here. The endless possibilities of combining all of the gruesome tricks and strategies would or could make for the most hated server in the game on and off field. I’m okay with that … just fuels some fire of the enemies and makes for better competition.

Ok, so that’s what I thought you meant…and no I can’t do that right now cuz I’m busy getting famous on someone’s livestream in Henge of Denravi right now and two-wolfpacking a comeback in that slaughter of a WvW match.

Which sounds much more enjoyable then knocking some ‘more than likely’ new players on forums. At least imo.

People who know our server, know our leading guilds, and while we still have a long way to go, we’re getting there. No, we’re no HoD or JQ … or any top tier. But we are working to get there ;-) and we’ll win some, and lose some but learn every week.

It’s things like the above knock that appear immature and desperate, myself included for getting sucked into it (it’s frustrating to admit). I could add I saw some new server members running into and dying in the fray of a keep takeover – same scenario – running up to an oil spill and laying by the door waiting for a res, only to have his friend dirt nap in 5 seconds(yes, our own server). But it could just be that some of those guys are at that point of the learning curve right now and can learn not to do it again.

Fine, Bring it on!! A Halloween Death Match!! whomever holds SM at an agreed time by all servers is the winner of the match – regardless of the score!!

See now that sounds like fun.

I simply think it’s silly your knocking guys who took over a keep (no mama jokes, that’s just rude) against the 2 whole guys, but because they took so long on a 10% gate, that’s there fault? When it should have easily been defended but no one cared to care from your side? I mean… they still took it regardless, the silly part is the fact that no one would come up to defend it. Not the fact they took so long to get in, or had numbers (still after 7 or 10 minutes).

Let them feel proud, heck they might be a new guild to WvW celebrating their first victory – no ones knows. But don’t knock em for something your guys could have (or should have prevented). Not everything is planned always. I don’t see my big ugly norn in there, so no news reel high/low lights for me. But who knows it could have been our trebs earlier that contributed to some of the damage there.

Can I ask a question to Maguuma and NSP … a serious one, don’t kid yourselves. We’re all about trying to understand our enemy better to improve

Is it more fun to you to go into a queue-less WvW map whenever you like, and run the giant exploration zone seeing nil friend in sight…

Or is it more fun to log in here and pick an instance to gather behind and say “huzzah – you are all based off of this”?

I mean small victories are small victories (and celebrate them like a champ- heck why not… it wouldn’t be fun without it) but when you’re counting pennies in your pocket for a ticket on the short bus … maybe there’s bigger issues.

Just saying… don’t knock the #‘s because they had #’s-not much but still more than 2 … and time apparently … really 10 mins and you couldn’t get another warm body or two to care? It’s unfortunate.

If you guys want some comp – its mostly there day1-3 … all the comp guilds tend to lighten off and just keep an eye out as the week progresses. We’ll still be in there-just not to the extent where you may consider it worthy of your people who are not showing up to fill the other slots. I’ve had plenty of good battles here and there, sporadically at best since Friday night… but will keep an eye out ;-)

Darkhaven is all about having fun and being random.

Don’t kid yourself, there’s actually strat and planning that go into that first night, and an alliance meeting of the guilds.

The fun comes after ;-) … for example … my friends and I wanted a break from the standard. So we felt like trebbing a wall, for the hell of it. No we had no intention of taking the keep, just wanted to treb a wall. So we set up shop 2 trebs, a ballista and an arrow cart (was in defensive locations for our scout) over at the supply camp, and began our fun. Surely enough a group of maguuma guys (pretty sure) came. there was only 5 or so, so we popped off and laid them down. Popped back on the trebs while our third member scouted for the inc’s.

Next wave was little more, and they got us. But … we had a blast. We could care less about the 60 silver can be made in what 30-45 mins? It was all for fun. And yeah we got the reinforced wall down to 60%. But the biggest takeaway – it was different and enjoyable.

Night 1 is different. It’s based on cross map strategies and quick movement, and to the guy who (way back in the thread) who said ooo DH you night cap, and suck during the day we beat you 10 versus us 3… <<- this happens to your server from ours as well, so my apologies for stooping so low as to publicize this, no one cares. Heard it before, don’t care about emotions. We’ll be fine. We have fun, we will win, we will lose… but we will execute on we we plan to do. Whether business or pleasure.

Tired of the forums /tone re: night capping

But … I enjoyed the first 24 hours friday night. That was alot of fun. Yes, even the trebbing of SM, finally … and forking out 1g54s for reinforced walls/doors … (pocket book what? we all have bank and spend on our pleasures without any expectations – so pocket book smiles when we lighten the load for a good cause)

What I mean for update = patch the items broke in prior iterations. Obviously there were some things taken out and if 2 weeks isn’t enough for a ‘live’ team to decide the path of that feature, then there’s production related issues. A vault being locked off without reason, but has been confirmed they are aware is one example. Free transfers causing lopsided matchups is clearly not the direction they would want to go. It counters promoting server pvp, and really walks the path of why have any worlds at all. You have been seeing the issue raised week in and week out, it’s obvious that Anet would like to better craft a system that builds community and competitive play in a positive manner. It’s not fitting the bill yet. Possibly it’s intentional to watch all the hot swappers switch off until they leave the game, and then when dust is settled, right size and put in place the limited transfer. But that also seems counter to any mmo’s end goal. Don’t know, but it feels like to me … we have something coming. Not speaking about update / dungeons pve related items. This is directly related to the current larger issue at hand, that affects multiple worlds/ region. I feel for the servers who have been demoralized and demolished because they had a sizeable force only to be derailed. While that will exist, it has to be mitigated. All points are validated in multiple threads, and acknowledged by ArenaNet. So … yeah , seems like there is work being done, and whenever communications go down (and I’ve been a consumer since GW1 beta) it’s always been because of ^^ this – they are too busy working on the above – but they do acknowledge it. Also, while I work at a gaming company, I can speak to updates (such as hallowe’en festivities in an mmo directly affecting ‘everyone on every server’) being a priority given the timeline and taking ‘x’ resource away from other projects, whether bug, exploit or feature fixes. Suggestions? or you going to give another… ? …type of response. Please note my tone is communicated in a positive and understanding manner, and I am basing my feeling from prior experiences with arenanet. I’m not concerned, as I know these have been on the table more than a few times. They never ignore the community it’s there +1 over every other company.

+1 for the op’s listing. Seems that something’s going on, and we’re pending an update for some time now. It ‘feels’ as though something is coming, calm before the storm. Hallowe’en obviously chewed up some resource time, but pretty sure that’s lined up and squared away now with the write up.

One thing i would also like to add …

mistwrought vault … please fix it, even if you change it so the mechanics are each character can access it once per reset. Just want to get these keys outta my inventory, and not have to re-do the jumping on my characters. (pretty sure this is also on the wvw list they are working through)

I’m from NSP, but i can’t condone the claims we lost becuse we had to fight EB during the day and EB/DH at night. I’m sorry that everyone must make these kinds of excusses. This is a 24 hour 3 way battle for 7 days. Nobody ever said it was suppose to be fair.

NSP we got out played. We need to pull that gumshu out of our kitten like we did during the SoR/YB fight. I have been sadden by what I’ve seen us do in comparision to last week.

But all in all, i think it was for the better, we started to get full heads and DH gave us the wake up call we need to get out of bed again…..Or we can continue to sleep in and miss the show. It’s OUR choice.

To DH and EB, thank you for the fun week. Its hads some awesome moments to go with the tears rolling down my face.

I’m from DH, and I’m going to +1 this. Bang on, 100%. Peaks flucuate for servers. We’re not an oceanic server. We’re primarily a PST based server, but have people who play all around the clock, from different time zones. There’s nothing wrong with that, we’re a server, and if people feel like playing on it, there’s no stopping them, in fact we welcome them.

My primary time will likely miss the EST time zones, but that’s not to say I haven’t had many good battles with both NSP + EB. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed this week. Not for the scoreboards, or whose winning what when. For the battles. Do I like getting on and seeing the map NSP owned, no … am I going to take it back. You can count on it . Will I die a few times, more than likely.

But the battles. That’s the fun part I’m speaking to, all servers this week deserve a congrats for the various things that they have tried at times and putting up good fights on various maps. We’ve had a lot of good fights. There has been alot of passion and fire in these battles this week. I hope others have enjoyed as I have.

We can’t chalk it up to much else. We all play on our servers, for our servers … sometimes things work out well, sometimes they don’t. Learn and move on. But the journey on this week was great.

And with the inflated attitude ‘oh go ask so and so if im better or your better, the answers clear’ … keep that stuff in the extra cargo room of your head. No one cares about a need to pat your own ego, it serves no positive contribution to a server wvwvw thread based on how this week was and is. Take a lesson from the above poster, and seriously … it was a good week regardless. I’ve had plenty of great matches along the way, and the note on the pve capping … ummm k … small tight nit teams some times (especially when not owning all the map and pinned in poor position against large armies) use this to divert ‘some’ of your servers attention to them and lighten the load of the larger force to make a push. Not entirely pve based, do I grab pearls when I’m crossing the ocean … yeah while I’m in flight, because one day I’m going to need to knock that friendship off without lingering, push to a supply camp and gogogo. Seeing as other teams recap basically minutes after … I’d say objective accomplished (diverting people from the fight).

So many good battles though, so don’t put a damper on what was and is a good competitive week.

Its funny. With all the work that goes into WvW and the mass hours people spend playing to win, they win nothing really. Speaking for a server as whole.
They get moved to a higher bracket is all.
Maybe if the winning servers get more RAM added and the loosers get it taken away or slower processors for the loosing sever.

I’d be happy with … a free print. But will settle for pride. Self rewarding. And the competition gets tougher and tougher. So it’s a reward on its own.

What your referring to would be a large imbalance to penalize a server at that capacity. You have to think … anything that doesn’t give a direct imbalance as an option. A cookie is a cookie, and no one cares if somebody gets a cookie as a reward.

I like the idea, but would give everything up for guild cape(s)

okay – EB … very nice job on your borderlands last night. I could tell your server had some of that fire ours had the prior week last night. Your teams did an great job to take back your BL, and coming from DH … it was surprising to see the pin striking us until we were basically camped. While we were able to get a few smaller runs to divert the attention from our base camp, overall I gotta hand it to you. Came with fire, and took over. While we could get out and take areas, momentarily, we saw you reclaim them and knew you were always on our tails (small group of 3-4 of us who were going for supply camps etc). You were never too far behind once you hit bluewater.

So the Eternal Battlegrounds seemed like an nice response (you kick us out of your BL, we got ya out from EB). All in all, it was fun on both sides, enjoyed the battles. Way to put on a show and fight.

And not sure if Kita’s here from DH, but anytime I’m on and ya need a runner to get that treb up – count me in ;-)

Good job to the DH player base yesterday. SM seemed like a hot potato there for a bit, but eventually our janitorial staff cleaned the front door providing enough time to set some defenses in place. Fun week, and thanks to HVN for the constant directions (ie … don’t waste your prints, just build and resupply). Drastic change from earlier when I was seeing like 2 rams up and 2 more unbuilt with a gate almost down. Each day and each takeaway a member can learn from, just helps the overall player base stay on the same page. And the outcome is always good.

Seeing a lot of NSP and DH, but I’m going to be the odd man out here. EB did a fantastic job last night for some time on their BL. All involved know what I’m talking about, including you joker saw ya there with cynthia and worban till he logged. Some great battles just south of Dreaming Bay, pushing us back to our keep when we wanted to take your orb. Eventually Yasker got the noodles all aligned and listening (countless times I saw jokes like … is swinging your sword at the reinforced gate fun? Do you enjoy stabbing boulders with toothpicks?"). Had to laugh more than once at the jokes, but the end result was building and developing map wide acknowledgement and ‘think before you act’ or you’ll run up and die, then sit there thinking we’ll res you (and yes I got called out once on the dreaming Bay attack – but res’d one of them). Was good to see for a few moments. I must have dropped 3-5 trebs and a couple catas, burned through multiple prints on that effort, till we finally got it. But not going to lie, it was a long fight, and there’s a number of you EB thieves, & mesmers (I tried to remember your tags, but when I woke it was like … uhh QFGX wtf did I write – seinfeld moment- you guys did such a good job coordinating you vulnerability strikes, literally could take someone down in 1.5 seconds if there condition removal was on cool down.

For the most part, fantastic… and yes saw a number of NSP people poking around – alot more than the night prior on the EB BL.

<— pst late nighter, don’t hate… it’s just the only time I can play with kids, full time job and all. Pretty sure our server is full of pst pvp players. But we have a lot of ‘new’ players as well. To give you an idea, every night I always see a map call from a new gw2 pvp player asking for some help and guidance while he levels to understand the game more. At one point I tagged along with a 36 just to let him roam and help at least extend the length of time before he eventually will dirt nap.

Also, last point I wanted to make, I found it much more challenging to take the northern half of the map, whether vet, camp, or just get up to the top. I saw a lot of EB groups every time I ran up, both right or left sides. Pretty good job keeping us locked down.

EB’s BL been pretty steady all week, even when I logged at 1am there was still plenty of fighting going on.

Fun night all in all, looking forward to tonight.

You know what, gotta have a care bear moment here. A lot of heart from all servers, and respect. This supports the type of players, attitudes I like to roll with. Even Raichu egging on some fun competition for tonight. Looking forward to it. Fellyn and Fizzle, the stands against odds are admirable, I hope many others take away from that and stick with there servers through thick and thin. And NSP up top, weekend break guy – totally understand. Sometimes you put your all in, and just need to rejuvenate. We all hit those moments, hell it’s part of a gamers lifestyle ;-). Props and respect on the honesty.

From my exp, VIP showed way more players from nsp than oS.

/agreed but the pact of Os guys i saw last night, were quick, agile, coordinated and heavily skilled. Saw them drop a few people as fast as a zerg normally does, I appreciate that.

For instance if Darkhaven has heavy nighttime presence and moderate daytime presence. Conversely everyone else has Heavy daytime presence and nearly zero nighttime presence. It’s plainly not an even tradeoff. But that’s war.

Biggest thing about night capping though is that it’s extremely demoralizing to see realms gain 40k points against zero opposition …

DH was, has/had extremely low periods. A couple of things that we are trying to do includes having a strong presence around the clock, not just pst peak 9-12. Over the past few weeks I’ve seen stronger presences from guilds ranging earlier in the day, and guilds who have stepped up later (night to many EST). This will always fluctuate across the servers, but for our few core WvW guys that I’ve seen, one of the objectives is to grow the WvW presence across the day. We’ll always have ‘some’ periods where it’s just not going to change. But every server (I’m going to assume many servers already do, because we are still growing and learning) … can build there WvW presence on all periods of times for the most part. We are lucky to have some of these early birds i call them, and late night guilds. I’m a gamer just like the rest of you, but we all have our periods of time we like to play. I’m certain that we’re not the only group who has people who play past 12pm pst. Ehmry included because I’ve seen guys on. Our night time numbers aren’t as large as previously implied. Our core time is about 5pm pst until 12pm pst.

We just have a lot of excitement and energy on our server at the moment, and a couple unified goals from previous shlackings…

Also, I’m sensing a lot more unity in our server (still developing strategies and cohesion) but seeing unity growing and inputs from everyone taken into great consideration. We still have a long way to go, and know that. But we also know we’re on the right direction, thanks to those prior experience(s). Also, if not previously stated, we do appreciate feedback and inputs from other servers.

Is there somewhere we can see the login data on WvW across the week? I know I saw something last week. It would be good to see it again.

Please do not EVER do this, this was one of the biggest waste of resources and time. They sat in the keep while outside we were being attacked, refusing to move because they would have their golems “ninja’d” finally when we repelled the attack and they went out with all of their golems, that they took all the resources FROM THE KEEP instead of a depot, they lost more than half of them. So I urge you, don’t be like this guild or their leader, DO NOT waste that much resources or time or be that stubborn you refuse to help out because you think 10-15 golems is a good idea.

I just want to add in my (and guilds – WW – Darkhaven) comments. We’re thoroughly enjoying this week’s battles with you guys. So much more – fun. Every step of the way, the large battles, to the smaller battles (2v2 4v5 whatever turns out).

There have been countless times where we’ve defended a keep or not, and Emry has as well (last night especially).

I also want to put out there, the Northern Shiverpeaks … gotta alota love for oS is it? Smaller guild I saw last night, as wel as the one charr warrior from ehmry who pushed hard on a defensive stand last night (on ehmry bay bd, believe we were pushing on Longview). Seriously bud, that was a good push, and I respect that kinda D-fence

Well done. So much fun. What a flip from last week, and completely fun. Haven’t had a single bad moment. Enjoying the nights battling – and looking forward to more tonight.

Also going to put out a big thanks to our commanders and some of the leads who actively contribute and communicate well during the pst evening time slot (generally 8pm on) … having alot of fun with you guys. You know who you are ;-)

Kardiamond, forum communication is not the same as in game battle communication. Someone may be good at articulating there words, but freeze in battle. In game iii is another character I have not seen anything wrong with his direct approach, rather he’s been pivotal at times. In forums, this does not translate so well (it’s night and day imho). He did make an effort to offer suggestions to help based on his perception of the other servers play. Everyone is entitled to do so, but they chose the form they wish to present it. I’ll take a direct approach which bodes poorly offline, so long as online it translates to something tangible (even if it’s only an effort to execute on a strategy).

People considering to join Darkhaven likely understand that everything isn’t all about feel goods, and hugs. And if you’ve been in competative pvp style games for years, iii is more a kitten in comparison to ladder leaders. It’s about learning and growing your skills, based on experiences and knowledge bases of those you roll with. I’m from Darkhaven and continually grow with this in mind. A lot has been thanks to that individual you reference. In game it’s much different, and no one needs to extend apologies. I come from a heavy competitive pvp background where I’ve seen much worse.

There are multiple commanders we have who do an excellent job coordinating our server efforts, and presently are solidifying a strong base of pvp & wvw players. These growth is all based off of faults and failures of past (learn and grow). <<— this is the strength of joining a server who can take our defeats and learn from them, while growing our competitive aspect of this game. Enjoying your victories, can get to your head once in a while (I am no exception – I admit this week was so different that my ego got the better of me too). Being able to recognize and learn from it (something he’s already showed me in other aspects) is something not everyone has/does.

Darkhaven has a very enjoyable WvW player base and building some great organizational frameworks to plan/communicate/learn and grow each week, that’s about the only thing that really matters when a guild feels like testing a server (and the decision is not based on server ranking).

Our guild found it’s home based on this, and we look forward to being a strong contributor to our WvW efforts. I noticed how large the Alliance is grown and fast.

There is no single leader here.
We all contribute,
We all learn and grow our skills,
and most of all …
We all take our swords in our own hands and do what needs to be done,
We all lead Darkhaven.

These two … are both great commanders. Regardless of how others feel, it’s because of the coordinated effort they pulled together that made the first 24 hours the only reason we are where we are now.

‘iii’, aka ‘Seal the Deal’, aka ‘Half Naked Norn’ is my Guild Leader, my friend and he is indeed, a superb commander…

Dovgan, you sound like a pvp player, but your communicating in just as hard or slighted manner, and it’s obviously to be taken with a grain of salt. Again, we’ve been up and down the ladder, we do not want to be where we are, and will make it back up. And yes, win … and get spanked. Part of the game right?

We have a couple superior commanders (I feel), and the odd one who seemingly takes a similar ANV style to his player base (not Seal The Deal or Worban). At least my Guild (WW) has found these two to put a solid strategy and communicate great to our base. Earlier it was eluded about timing being everything, how many times does you server take something over and jump to the next with that coordinated effort only to find your short on supplies, the group slowly breaks only leaving you and the handful of pvp like minded individuals left to contest a zerg? No it’s not fun when that happens. That’s why it doesn’t in DH … our commanders can lead a solid 4-6 hour run cycling, and acquiring points base do n the time.

I did see your server step up some last night, but too little too late at this point. Our main concern is accumulating enough points to jump brackets this week, so (on a silver platter) … if you want to stick it to us, get your force to run on timing, and take over the points right before the timer clicks. It will at least mitigate what we are trying to do. And you can laugh along the way because every small point counts – and I’m certain you’ll spike more than enough (including myself, although I didn’t get to see you last night? fyi .. I’m Norn full Beserker’s gear + Banner tag (WW), and will still look for every ranger) … why not? It’s something to do between attacks and until mistwrought is fixed.

All in all, you can’t knock people for recruiting PvP or WvW, when they are trying to build it, even if the server is full. I know some guilds who have 0 space, but still recruit for monthly openings.

I think Ferg’s is doing a better job than day 2, but worse than day 1, and it’s all because of the fact that our commander’s beat yours. Call it a numbers game, call things glitchy, but in the end, no one shows up if no one puts in the effort to coordinate and plan, both in game and outside.

Last week was fun, this week … well err… and wake up call next week? … I’m actually hoping for Yak’s (who spanked us bad) because we’re in dire need of a mid tier challenge/test and not getting it this week. To be second to last tier is embarrassing. If we get spanked, then it’s back to the drawing board. If we improved … then we can take away that as a win for being on track.

@ Kiv- are you having fun? Seriously? (sorry I do assume your playing on one of the above servers – but your name rings a bell from guru) I had much more fun playing against SoR, and we’re looking to maybe go up against yak’s again (quite possibly to get rolled badly again, but maybe not – either way if we are able to play them again, we can at least gage if we have progressed in wvw at all in a small manner). Either way, it will be more fun to think on your feet, versus run to only random color that flipped and kill it. It’s just not that interesting.

<<- farms karma because of the requirements of a legendary being so high, in wvw and in pve. If your in the way, you’ll know. Bots lose … I prefer to win. I find I get my karma faster when you (or your random AI points) are the ones dirt napping.

You can report all you like, on bots and normal people playing, hell tonight I’ll go afk every time I go out for a smoke in plain sight, and away from safe areas – that’s 10 minutes (and you only need what… 5 seconds) of free face rolling a suspected bot and /report me for sitting by some node when I’m outside having a smoke – screen cap it and toss it in this thread, I really don’t care. Doesn’t change my goals. Accounts don’t get banned for playing wvw, or chasing karma. It’s hard enough as is with everything green on the map and it’s not fun, so looking forward to being the underdog next week.

I’ll be on later tonight pst time, you’ll find my big ugly banner swaying norn, and I’ll find every ranger on your server. Cage match? Thunderdome style? Two man enter 1 man leaves? <<- Look trying to make fun because I’m not having fun current state.

It’s not cool the way it is right now, for anyone playing. It’s not fun, not even for us – it will change. Our server has good and bad players, myself included.

People re-take those items, because we have lots of people who are in dire need of karma. We don’t bot farm, we just look whats not green and go take it back. With as little as 1 person most the time. Sure keeps need the numbers to take, and yes I understand how the odds fair (had the crap kicked out of us by yak’s day 2 post release was it?). Been there done that, … still need karma- so much karma … , and if I’m out manned and can’t take the supply camp over in time before your squad comes to clean me, then I move on to another attainable goal – scout/node whatever, until a keep call comes out. We do not sit beside the nodes, nor the supply camps, we move, and sometimes out of the way to let you walk in. We all hunt the same thing (each other), and try to get our karma for our legendary/armor/whatever toy you want to buy. Not sure if there’s anything we do that’s wrong here. Karma, and action. If the action is too x rated, then maybe we’ll re position and follow your trail.

Again, someone (I think worban) noted previously – it comes down to timing. You can have the camp/node/keeps as long as you like, but expect a shlacking in the final minutes if you want to keep it.

(DARKHAVEN HAS BEEN BEAT SO BAD IT WAS EMBARRASSING, AND HUMBLING) … and it probably will happen many times again in future, it just happens – no biggie.

Not gonna lie, this matching wasn’t entirely fair. I only say that because we got dropped (Darkhaven), and even before we went orb hunting… there was alot of people from all 3 sides on reset (in every map). But it felt almost a little easy to kill many from the other two servers while we collected orbs and keeps. I know this will change over time, there’s plenty of people who have to develop there pvp skills. For now though, it’s felt 100% different fighting Ferg’s and Anvil, versus Sanctum + Sorrow’s Furnace (the week prior). I was in since reset (big ugly green banner wielding norn), and our server basically grew + grew + grew that night so I can understand the frustration on the numbers game 2v1 3v1 kinda not fun. But we’re still able to take you guys down 1v2 and 3v7? I don’t expect that to be the case with every match up – but its bound to happen once in a while.

And seriously, the coordinated attacks from our commanders really made the difference from reset. The rest of us are just pvp junkie’s, and yes I’ve had my behind handed to me more than a few times from some ferg’s guys – and why not – I’m going to die many times when we try to split or break your lines (because I overextend far too deep and it costs me sometimes – but most the time you guys turn). Overall, the first night, I think our commander’s just did a great job. After that, it became a numbers game.

We shouldn’t be able to /sleep and line up in front of your base? Seems your servers have many people who give up too fast or transfer.

The only thing i notice that these servers are (were) doing different than the other servers (sorrows furn, sanctum) … when we push your lines – you turn and run, when you should push back harder. The numbers were even … but now there only seems to be *1 group rolling for karma takeovers at each borderland. So kinda makes for a sucky week- I get it.

I’m pretty sure next week, we may be testing out those shoes you wearing if we get bumped up high enough. We’ve had our behinds handed to us more than once by some cough … excuse me I’m yak’ing

+1, just tried my luck at this interesting jumping puzzle. Had fun, only to find the door sealed shut (collected both pieces top + bottom) and was hoping for the achievement and yes … of course treasure.
