Firstly, I’d like to say a big Thank you to RE for putting the Fight Club event together. It was great fun!
Also, I went as a spectator only and took a lot of screen shots. Since I had so many, I decided to create them into a storyboard form. I hope you guys enjoy it.

Wow Silke. That is pure awesome, I’m floored. I’ve never seen such an interesting way to share and tell the tale of the event. Super, heck even your wordsmithing gave it a nice touch.
No way to prevent, but I’ve had a couple guildies say the same. I used to get ‘stuck’ with the same and flashing skills, like stuck like my guy could not do a thing.
Only thing that ‘sometimes’ seem to break it… and your going to laugh. Emote a /dance
For some reason it releases you. Works in most situations for me and others who have tried it. I know it’s silly, but it works. Even occurred last night. I know in the heat of battle it’s painful to type in a quick emote, but you have nothing else to do. Try it. All i can suggest.
I read that note about side exits as sarcasm, not sure but maybe was to just provide some insight to avoid the spawn camp topic noted above?
Anyways, looking forward to playing against you guys in a few hours. Hell I’m looking forward to something to do. Painted maps are never fun for any side. If your not on the side that’s trying to get out from spawn camp situations, your on the side that is running around aimlessly trying to beat the other guys to the 1 or 2 items that are not colored your servers color.
Will send message now. Glass cannons a must for this weeks fight =) or upscaled alts.
None of that pvt ppt crap. Who needs it anyway. I wasnt my p/h/cond *duration <<- OP
… o.o – see ya in a few hours folks.
~ X [RE]
EDIT:
Cant wait to get spawn camped
^^ won’t be doing that unless you were one of the guys who were turfing the folks from DH/NSP in the EB JP. Even then – not my style, there’s better ways to deal with this.

Kreese stealing my Screeny. My spotlight is ruined!
actually i was JUST about to post that it was your screenshot I just put it on imgur and posted here – I figured most people knew i was just the town crier in Lions Arch so I wasn’t there most of the fights – you can get a sense of just how popular this must be with the RE guild as there are only a few other Kaineng there but TONS of RE guild members
if anyone else has screenshots they would like to share imgur.com is really easy to use and i KNOW people had to be taking tons of screenies
come on now you shutterbugs lets end this thread on a good note
Gotcha, Actually I have a couple screen shots I think, probably not as good, more random … I am just at work atm, and don;’t have them handy. I can check in later, and res the thread and attach ;-) in a departure note.
The reason its so popular with RE (sry havent read pg11 yet) is because it was kinda started by us. Little could give more hindsight, but it’s mostly fun. Sometimes a bad egg happens (1 forum troll I remember months back I believe NSP or FA commander, absolutely hated the idea and let the world know it , over and over again). But nothing is mandatory, just show up if you like and want to give a go. In any event, it looked like many had some good times, and that’s what matters most.
Hiya Kain and GoM,
Bugg’s duel

I love this pic btw, thanks for sharing. Big crowd, great effects captured, even a golem in there =) nice job
That was one guild. But everyone pretty much expected that fight club would end in a brawl anyways.
Was good fun though while it lasted, though. Thanks for the duels, whoever I fought. I definitely picked up a few tricks.
^^ fyi … when we were taking the camp… it was to avoid any of our pugs or other guilds that may not be there, moving maps to come take something over at the end. Tried to avoid unwanted attention. But I believe that thinking above also contributed to you guys just coming up and start fighting everyone (a couple of you guys who were having some fun anyways). In any event, the fight club was a lot of fun, and we appreciate your guys time coming over out from your day. Gives us all a little down time to play and tweak builds, and hope you guys all had fun.
Thanks again everyone, it was good to fight some of the various guilds who participated… and thanks to Little for coordinating!
Hey guys, great time in fight club. Always a couple randoms pop by (some tags forgot to pop off), but in all… (all servers) great job. You guys had some good battles back and forth.
And the crowd, was … fun. Loved the ghost costume cruising around.
Thanks to all who participated,
~ X / Hex / Omega [RE]
Party’s not a party till the drinks start flowing (even if you only have a coffee)… I’m finaly off…. now for rush hour traffic … sigh.
Sheer awesome @Wryscher … now that’s just a funny chain you got going … still at work, but you guys just made my afternoon.
Was personally thinking of flipping to Stoneslammer’s server and face a week of live action … kidding of course Stone. you know that. Can’t wait to get on later. HF all
Not in FC, no one kills anyone, just to downed state is all. We all know this o.o
Yes, this needs an interlude…. hmm ooo I know
What night is it? Coming to a bracket near you.
/carryon… Just checking in on mags
Um did you forget the first rule ?
Lol. I love it.
Also to note, run the game client as administrator, right click, run as…
some of the nightly d/c issues (on another thread), were resolved with the help of support in this manner. Many people, especially those d/c between maps in wvw but also just the d/c
…
Also, the lack of respect is appalling from Kaineng, dancing on corpses, laughing etc, it’s just not needed guys….
No disrespect taken, if you see anyone from RE playing in this manner, you can feel free to inform any of us. We don’t tolerate hacks and disrespect. There’s always odd ones who do things on there own, but I’m happy to follow up with any who do play in any manner other than respectful and hard. Golden rule. In any event none of your post was seen as disrespectful just to let you know.
Now, for the entire week… the good, the bad, the ugly. Let’s put it aside for now and have fun. We all play, we all have fun in our own ways preferably not hindering others. Do not troll me about transferring once with no intention of ever moving, tell the developer.
Outside of that, I work till 5pm pst, but will try to attend later, and yes… have my back side handed to me so some of you can vent out your frustrations. But keep it light and positive when we come together. It will take all our servers to ensure a peaceful place where we can chill, and enjoy the time.
On that note, I hope i see many of you there, from GoM and HoD.
~X [RE]
(edited by Hexin.5603)
Timing, is all.
But your 1 point, hidden in the post, that I fully understand (not to a 12 week losing streak), is how difficult it is to bring players, new or pve into help wvw. Match up aside, it’s still a challenging issue. Looking at a score, or being outnumbered from your gate and having to sneak out into open field, is not entirely fun.
The one thing I would note though, if the community is frustrated, and they actually want someone of authority to read it, or see things as issue, then it has to be communicated in a manner such as the above, and maybe with some data points supplementing it. Many of the other posts you may have read, are not as well written. Which tend to appear useless flaming and not really sure why. That’s not the intent, I understand there is frustration behind it that coats the intent of the message.
To your question on whether people like it, it’s personal. Even en mass answering “no” has nothing to do with the fact that it exists. Even if paid, people may move. It’s existed since release, and maybe there are things that can be put in place to mitigate it, but it still exists. Having it in the game, provide just that. A means to move, which means it will likely persist. I say likely, because I am interested in understanding what the February update will hold and whether it is one of the items on the table presently. All of this has nothing to do with the fact that what we want to accomplish, coincided with the timing and server selected, being your opponent. Not sure any ‘individual’ or ‘guild’ would be at fault. It’s a game function that you (and many) take issue with (including myself).
Thank you for sharing it though, with context in a way that is understandable. And GL to you and server in your week to come Valenna
(edited by Hexin.5603)
A reminder about fight club rules is posted above. There are no dirty tricks. Actually alot of the time we may even jump on voice com together, helps with communication.
To be honest, it’s fun. I’ve even gone in a sat sidelines a few times, dropped prints to a guildie next to opposing servers and everything was fine. I know you may be nervous at first, but the only threat at all, is people who don’t communicate to there server.
In the end, it’s alot of fun, we’ve been doing it for months with almost every server. Thanks in large part to Littlefeather putting in the effort and coordinating it. i for one, would gladly jump in, but don’t want any overhead of collecting everyone.
It actually takes a cooperative effort to put together (from all servers) and provides a different ground for some to have a little fun in a different style of atmosphere. If you have some ideas or suggestions, always open to hear them. It’s a very relaxed environment (even if you don’t think it), for players to work together, have fun, meet new players, and play around with their build in a live environment. Sitting on the side lines is absolutely fine.
And don’t troll your GF to getting wiped, she can sit on the side or go ahead and kick some butt if she feels like it. We always have a positive and fun environment.
Little always accommodating those east coaster ;-P
What about our PST and those in Aus, Asia Pacific region who want to sleep in… if we have enough interest, maybe we can get a second time slot (doubt it, but worth trying for, any have later time zones chime in). Personally my start time is around 9pm PST (roughly)
@ Shaka … 4 losses and 1 win isn’t all too bad, I’d get my backside handed to me with 0 survivability and still working on builds/testing… so would expect a 0 win scenerio o.O It’s just for fun anyways and a break from the wvw. Little does a good job coordinating
A lot seems to be getting repeated in discussions. Please keep in mind a few commonalities that are being communicated:
1. The guilds who have moved to Kain, came from multiple servers ranging t1-t8. It’s not an influx based off of crippling one server.
2. These guilds have been discussing this for many weeks, it’s not a hop and flip situation.
3. The guilds in many cases, were some of the final remaining large guilds that did try various other methods within their server. Attempted things such as assisting and aiding pve environments to help those, in return offering a place to help build what they could of the remaining wvw interest. Tried even to market it to some extent, I’ve seen and communicated some in LA, but as noted… we spent many weeks leveled. Stalemated, with the same resolve. A few more here and there, and a few leaving. There could be many other options we weren’t able to try (because possibly we never thought of it). Many hold loyalty to there guilds, but the people and personal game preference is wvw. So we finally decided to look to another option. Building a wvw base.
Based from our experiences, it takes the help of many guilds*, not one.
4. I’ll give some praise to ferg’s … as they have commendable players and skill. Justice – special shout out to you. But even over weeks and months, building only a dozen or two players cannot build wvw. It can build a guild. Someday I do anticipate to see ferg’s again in combat.
MOST IMPORTANTLY to be clarified…
5. No SINGLE guild is to be praised, and not to confuse individuals self pride with the overall goal. EVERY GUILD, and EVERY PLAYER, who steps in through the portal is contributing. We are all skilled players in our own way, and have abilities and strengths that are to be used and leveraged to help the server, Kaineng.
Here is where I will segway an example, I am from Rethesis, one of our first observations in recognizing someone’s skill … in a situation where stalemated taking a tower, a certain commander from another guild, found a seige placement that had LoS, and was not able to be targeted. That’s okay, but where the extra respect comes, was seeing the ability to leverage his guilds skillset, and players. Protecting the placement, build and defending it. Our own guild leader put this type of thinking back to us, to learn and develop from.
No one person is above any other, we all have a common interest. A common goal. If you are ever interested in WvW and new to the server, or just bought the game, without doubt, we would welcome any level of contribution. There’s things even long term vets can learn from other perspectives.
Please do not discredit our server. Nor any of our guilds. I don’t mind the random trolling, but there are many very good and skilled guilds that call Kaineng as home, and we fight for our server. No dis-respect to GoM or HoD… I do enjoy the battles, even in the current situation. But I would believe the next few weeks will be much of the same regardless of foes, numbers do matter in WvW, but that doesn’t mean 1 person is better than any other. Let’s keep this on track.
And as Ninya offers, we do hold ‘fight clubs’ for those who see the week as wash, and care to have some 1v1, 3v3, or 5v5 fun.
~ Xgammon / Hexin / Omega Bomberman [RE], NEO, Kaineng
There’s a world of difference between WM/DE and RE.
And this comes from my experience of fighting WM/DE/SoS and RE.
There is a difference between all our guilds. None of that matters when we aim to work together. WM you seriously need to reconsider some of the statements against WM. They are extremely skilled and intelligent individuals who know how to calculate dps, and play fast and hard. They have solid leadership. You have your ‘opinions’ but that is where it lands. A personal opinion. I have respected them for many years, but in WvW a guild is comprised of a multitude of levels, and skills. My example above, was in fact, compliments to Jang from a tactical decision and leadership shown on Friday night. I was not intending on writing that, until I saw your note.

I disagree with sudden large WvW player base transfers to lower tier servers
It DESTROYS existing communities as they get overrun by the new comers
and the evitable tide of bandwagon ridersIt DESTROYS tier balance
I disagree with the complete lack of reward for staying on a server
I have created a forum post on the suggestions forum to address this
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/WvW-player-base-transfers/first#post1169047So if we move to high tier servers we’re only after easy victories, but if we move to low tier servers we mess up “exiting communities”. What are we supposed to do then? We tried fixing our old server and that didn’t work due to so many irreparable issues. Our community died. So again, what are we supposed to do?
Free transfers are only a symptom of the problem that Anet created with how the rankings work. If you absolutely have to blame some one or something, put the blame where it’s due: Anet.
you had 17 other options outside of T7 and T8 and i would say transferring down to T7 and T8 is the “easy victories” at least in the upper tiers you are facing equal numbers – I would never say you shouldn’t transfer sometimes things just don’t work out i get it and i would not say you or your guild and certainly not Kaineng is the problem far from it – it is the system currently in place which is exactly what my suggestion tries to address
Also as time goes by and word gets out Kaineng is likely to become a victim of many transfers that if the community there (including you) had an ability to choose would vote them off the server – it is one of the same things that caused TA to break up back in the day on HoD
We are not looking for ‘easy victories’. Moving servers loses all influence, guild bank, items etc and you have to rebuild it up again (including build time). It’s not intended for ‘yay we won a battle’, the direction we (NEO) … was to develop and build a wvw focused server and raise it from the ground up as such. There are some core elements in doing this, none of which we we able to do.
Trust me, these efforts were exhausted, and it took much time and planning by some of the guilds who also had similar goals.
It also takes time to get to know and learn about a server, guilds, and the people who have put in there all, develop relations, and learn about play styles and strengths. Personally, I’m here to contribute my efforts into all aspects of the server where I can. Many in my guild feel the same.
Yes, you are correct though in noting ‘as time goes on, the cycle will repeat’ … it likely will. I do not hold a crystal ball, and wouldn’t make such assumption to be able to tell the future, but in time… if things do not improve, and the windows always open… it will likely occur again. Over and over. Maybe to Kaineng, or possibly other servers. The system obviously needs some better mechanism’s in place to manage this. People do not enjoy being stalemated. Competitive esport players enjoy win lose outcomes to improve upon. Anet has the power to improve upon there systems. This has been suggested by many people on many threads, including one from Jang and it should hold weight. you may have posted some threads as well. We will see what Anet has taken and improved upon next month. Until then, my efforts and resources will go to kaineng, and to supporting an environment and server with a focus on WvW, and developing relations, respect and understanding. Already I can tell you I have the utmost respect for the players* and guilds who are actually in (all servers this match), battling every day.

Since the mayan’s were wrong and we got more game to play , count me in. Sounds like a positive apocalypse.
I’m always in for perks ;-)
So we have 2 weeks to claim our final reward, I think I’m going to wait until Christmas morning. Lots still left to accomplish, well JP and Toypocalypse I think is all, but still … =)
I’ve collected so many giant presents I wish I could give them to the kids. Be a waste to open 200+ all to myself. Already have the toy skins I want, and mats for the minis (yet tbd but <3 golem).
And to the above poster, the monthly events … are just that. Monthly events. Not intended as new continual content, however we did get lost shores map. If you look at your map today, you can see plenty more space to expand too for permanent content and I’d assume the dev team has already been working on these things.
The events though, are just that. Said opportunities for people to come together on. Completely optional, we all have lives, and only ‘x’ your not alone. But they are amazing. I don’t want continual ongoing events to feel special, I want unique one time events to feel special. Otherwise i would never leave cursed shore.
Personal opinion, but they do a great job mixing and releasing the various types of content. They don’t have to target the entire audience, only open the option for people to check out.
@ turk – What does this equal? Well … me agreeing with the first statement, of your write up and having a difference of opinion to your second. The festivities themselves are very interesting, and ‘different’.
I lost 3 exotics when I opened Tixx’s Chest. I know it happened then because nothing else is missing and they were there when I went up to him. I was able to collect from the chest but he was able to collect from mine!!!!
Is it wintersday or april fools =)
fyi … if your losing items or gold, usually means your account may be compromised. Or you have been exceptionally naughty this year.
Lots of strange things occurring, hope everything works out in the end (and for you sir).
Just to put it out there, anyone in Lions Arch ‘overflow’ was having the issues. The folks in the main city were linking their rewards.
Seemed to fix it for those also in game to wait. If anything at least maybe that can help the developers narrow it down.
Don’t think it’s like the Lost Shores, but either way, they have the log files. to those experiencing issues, try in the main LA city. Worked for many on Darkhaven (I was watching the map chat for the past 15 minutes)
Event reward = account bound… would resolve the attraction to gold farmers and bots.
Or … recipe of said pre-cursor = precursor price crash. Will never happen, but OP doesn’t sound very motivated unless there is a big shiny $ worthy opportunity. Just saying. If I find you on the snowball battlefield, the big ugly norn trying to facewash you … is me. I get a +100 to all stats against scrooge-lings.
~ Enjoy the festivities folks, and let the games begin.
Agreed, first time I came across this in hallowe’en … I thought my game was buggy =)
Anyways, it’s normal to have monthly as ‘Monthly event’ unavailable.
“I make my home in Loading screens”
So firstly, I will take the steps and run -log command tonight. I get this and have been getting this under the following conditions:
1. In LA, press B, select any BL or EB, no queue, sits.
2. In PvE Map (cursed shore/frostgorge sound), press B to join my guild, Select any map … sits
…after restarting my client, I get in without any issue.
Also under … in a WvW map, and we decide to move maps… any BL, to any new BL … sits….
Restart client, it kicks me to LA, and I jump to the BL I was stuck loading on, huzzah I’m in.
Basically all the time, it will occur about 4-5 times nightly (would more but that’s about the amount of map changing I do, mostly reside in a BL).
About my char: I have 4, but play mostly on my main. I don’t see why race, profession are relevent but:
Server = Darkhaven
1. Xgammon, Norn Warrior, lvl 80
2. Omega Bomberman, Asura Engineer, lvl 80
3. Hexin, Human Necromancer, lvl 54
4. X Sorrows, Charr thief, lvl 27
Computer: Laptop HP 8440w elite, 8GB Ram, i7 proc, nvidia quadro with cuda, windows 8
I had thought it was my video card so I had a technician check the fan, was informed it’s clean as a whistle. Fine, so I checked GW1, checked WoW, can play them all fine. Okay so thought maybe it was my game client or operating system, so I had a technician wipe it, gave me a new hard drive -500 Momentus Hybrid XT, reinstalled windows fresh, downloaded the latest client and installed (a week ago or so).
Rolled the dice, and failed. Still get it. So at least I can say I have done some work on my end to eliminate the possibilities. I am very familiar with gaming systems and requirements, and work at a game dev company as well.
I will run the log all night tonight, and re-attach it in this thread tomorrow. it’s not a terrible issue, as I can work around it … killing the process and restarting the client, or in a severe case where it fully freezes and i cannot even alt out, or windows key – literally frozen, I have to hard reboot my system). This never happened in September or October to me, only started occurring in the past month or so.

I don’t see why wouldn’t ANet sell gears on TP? If players want to pay for the items/gears they have a choice. If players want to grind for items/gears, they also have a choice.
To me, I would rather pay for items/gears and spend my time on the area that I like (aka PvP)
ANet would make money for selling gears on TP. It’s a win-win situation. Everyone will be happy, grind or not.
That would be fantastic. And more so specifically … PvP gear, power, vit, toughness – black lion TP skinned ..
actually just editing, wouldn’t it be great if we could RMT gear that we could chose stat1, stat2, stat 3 on?
Gold, T6 mats, and ecto’s are easy to attain. The bottom line is it all equates to gold. Minus … 100% map completion, 750k-900k karma depending on your luck, 500 wvw badges, 200 skill points, and 500 badges from a dungeon which are relatively easy to get in comparison to the rate you get your wvw badges. The rest equates to gold.
Now back to the OP. DR is a limiting factor. Yes, I agree the prices skyrocketed on some things specifically, and overall has roughly ~tripled give or take… but gold at the same time has more than doubled in accessibility. You cannot say it’s tough because of DR. There are multiple maps where you can farm and move between to wear off (I can think of 3 without looking at a map, but it may very well only be those 3). If your stumped, you know how to make golds in dungeons. The prices have inflated, a little higher than being offset through accessibility of gold. BUT … you can also now make your money work for you having extra gold on hand and knowing what the market is like. But its still going to take a lot. And prepare for another set of decreases/increases, every event provides great fluctuations to the market. The economy is controlled by anet, and they already do something about it … ongoing. They did not have to insert precursors into the event system. But they did to knock the price down. There are two ways that market change can occur with these. Slight increase to supply (which they did, and it was offset with ascended gear and further demand) … we’ll call that test 1 and it failed. They can replay this with upticks to supply hindering the economy and run further tests, increases to gold accesibility yet again. The second is to make obsolete what players are controlling in the economy. AKA new legendaries that are better, and precursors drop rates / mats tbd. This would cause a crash (and an out roar), not certain that is a very safe route, but definitely would impact the economy. Adding new mats though tend to run at an even higher rate unless ample supply is provided. Look at the karka shells. Ridiculous.
Legendary were not cut for the hour a day gamer. They boil down to gold and time. You can offset some of these with RMT, but I never been a huge RMT guy. I’m kinda interested to see what happens over wintersday, as I have a sneaking suspicion, we’ll see one of the 2 above being implemented.
Just my thoughts, while I feel the economy is not adequately leveled (feel like a single income bread earner feeding a family of 6 sometimes in this game), I don’t think its terribly far off, just needs some fine tuning.
In the words of Stoney Brown “Shuoooouush!”
Save your badges from wvw. Just do it. WvW is getting love soon enough. Save them. We don’t want a treadmill, but more so we do not want to be forced to do an aspect of the game to have equality. At the same time, if you want attention to be given to this aspect, you need to understand Anet & NCsoft need something tangible that say we get ‘x’ so we can apply ‘y’ for wvw. PvE gets a lot of attention for the RMT through BL TP. It’s simple. Solve for that, and we have more love and attention to wvw sooner. Until then, save your badges. Watch for when wvw get the equality announcements. It’s already been stated, they (ascended) are coming to wvw / accessibility. Legendaries, are full / complete game … not pve, not wvw, not RMT, not specific to anything … inclusive of everything. You can buy 90% of the items with RMT/alot of cash. But you still need the karma, map completion, badges and skill points. I can get 3 of those in wvw, or I can get 3 of those in pve.
PvP Ranks are only available in a balanced environment. WvW is not a balanced environment. But one thing at a time sir, if you were a game dev company your company would be bankrupt, but what an awesome week it would be to play your game. Things all take time, money, and resources.
I find it awesome that it kicks off on the 14th, and provides 12 days of fun till christmas. Just saying. visiting each major town, and then settling in LA and able to replay, another bonus. To date so far, what a great start through communication. Much better than Hallowe’en.
Tixx and Toxx,
dressed a snowman with carrots and rocks,
The sun shone down,
there was a puddle on the ground,
and a new legendary appeared from the box.
… one route to not being a cynic, is to not be a cynic. Have fun, enjoy, play nice… and don’t eat the yellow snow.
Before starting this, I understand the concept of a Legendary Weapon and its rarity….
However, spending a fortune on greatswords for the MF is insane. There has to be a better way to reward a players hard work than by chance.
As for me, I’m done buying gems and supporting a bad mechanic.
Legendary weapons should not depend on chance in any way form or fashion…hard work should be the only deciding factor.
Same goes for the Mystic Clover mat. I think many players would agree, they would be willing to work hard for a Legendary weapon…Take chance out of the equation.
/disagree
Sorry, I’ve tossed in roughly 100 greatswords, no luck yet. tried my luck with hammer,s about 60 of them (20) yesterday, no dice. But some nice named exotics that were TP worthy.
It’s not like unlocking the map happened in a week, so why should this drop rate in MF be any better? To date, I’ve likely only invested about 20-30G worth of weapons tossed into the forge. I’d expect I’ll start feeling your pain when I’m at around 200G and thinking will this kitten thing ever drop I shoulda bought it outright (fearing I’ll be spending more doing this avenue versus buying it on the TP). But again, will have a lot of other rewards.
Oh, and I went 4 for 14 on mystic clovers the first night, then 1 for 7 or 8 the second night, and then 0 for 12 the third. I got a lot of other T6 mats though. No biggie, in time mister, you will get yours.
You know what? I think a thank you is in order.
Repair bills exist everywhere, more prevalent in WvW because its pvp not AI. Tough cookies, most people are going to hit you back. So being upset about the 10s repair bill is not worth the effort. This is a huge step in the right direction. Most of the time you get those terrible repair bills WHEN you are under the out-manned buff. I’m a 80 full exotic war, and I defend, attack, siege, and gorilla squad … and the worst repair bills have always come in / when we have the out-manned buff – most are fine to hold a keep or tower or two or paint the map otherwise. The rest is norm. Also leveled 3 other characters, 1 mainly through wvw. If your lower level, don’t go face an 80 direct, work the leveling system. Common sense ftw. Now when outmanned and you lose all but supply camp battles, you get an event that can help bolster up some numbers or at least provide you some means to play, instead of running into a spawn camping zerg. Sounds like step forward to me.
To Anet, thank you. I know the laundry list is huge but I think this is a positive step for wvw. Also, I think there are some things that your holding back still (specifics for inquiring minds), and the update & time will unfold the rest. But thank you … for putting some effort and attention to wvw. There’s been a lot of growing concern, and at least now I can say soundly … there is a future in wvw. Not just running on hope/belief. Things take time to address, and develop. Just want to share my appreciation for the effort so far, and keep up the good work!
See ya in game,
~Xgammon [RE], Darkhaven
PS … I also have dc issues / network connectivity or my game freezes, but I don’t really care. The end result benefits everyone more.

Peppermint shields + candy cane swords
come on baby … bring it back
There will be a ton of things, Wintersday has always been a huge thing, and fun.
Icy Beetle derby racing too (just a hope), that was always a blast. Let’s go polar express style, and get some ninja asura’s diving out from the toyship to place the tree topper ;-)
And who doesn’t like the nog’ … town quizzes / emotes – come on where’s your wintersday spirit. New pre-cursor… like ’ lump of coal’ :-0 should be handed out to the nay-sayers. That way they get a pre-cursor and anet gets a kick out of it in the spirit of giving. Imagine the forum explode then.
Is this related to people in the event, then dc’ing and can’t get back into the event? Are we getting rewards for that, I thought we just got unlucky (and snooze you loose bud)? I’m sure anet will post more events in future, hopefully similar to give a chance to get some of these forsaken precursors. I mean, wow … I heard some guildie talking on vent that some guy linked 2 as a reward in 1 chest, a dusk and something else on his map. I can see why the people on my map were right pissed when we got punted. I thought the event would complete before they drew the axe down on our necks.
Either way it was still a fun event that was very popular. Hopefully my luck changes in future.
dungeon boss should be in … wait for it … wait for it …
a dungeon.
PvE has many roaming champions around, please keep these out from wvw. it’s enough as is to keep track of your mates, movement and enemy movement, take overs, we don’t need a dragon boss or some silly item visiting here.
If this happens, I hope they implement pvp into every pve map. May as well, its the same thing. Just sounds less fun if you like pve, as we’d troll the hell out of people and crush them.
How do you -1 a post… I only see the option to say gj here’s a cookie +1?
If we accept that, then the game moves from a top level competative action combat fps style game to a second rate shot at wow.
The truth is, the pve is duller than the wvw. The publisher wants to make money, always. So does Anet, don’t kid yourself and point the sole finger to ncsoft. But they have in place a system that can accommodate both.
Just using it poorly. They are still testing the waters on many things, and I think its too early to judge one way or the other. It’s funny how patience wears thin, and thinner with numbers.
An all out boycott basically concedes the game to a second rate pve b2p. Do you really want to concede or have your voice heard? Suggesting threat tactics like that is childish. I know we’d rather work with them to have things implemented.
Commander Jang, if I’m not mistaken has a deep background with Anet since GW1 beta, and his team winning a global tourney there. Hell there’s employees working at Anet that wouldn’t even know him because he pre-dates them.
The best suggestion is not to go to Anet and say fix ‘x, y, or z’ but to suggest options where they can accommodate the perceived cash cow of a publisher, make money, and tie it back to wvw development. The black lion keys are not a bad shot … only to increase wvw pop, however … they need something more.
Something where it says that investing in this aspect will equate to bottom line revenue, whether boxed or digital sales … or some form of micro-transactions (all while refraining from a p2win model). I’ll think more on it and hopefully contribute useful, but I think wvw doesn’t get much attention because of this ^^^
Christ, adding armor ‘skins’ & weapon ‘skins’ to buy would be a small tiny start in that direction. Small team developing something we can cull out and carve our legends with? WvW Capes can be implemented similarly, these can actually go across the board, but the direction was away from capes – instead using some weird tankini with your logo on it.
Mesmer ports are no new thing, dying next to a door after being spotted? Really? It shouldn’t be a shocker. being unable to control the baiting breathe of your pvd zerg who just want to take and pillage all without any care about a mesmer dead there to be ressed? guess what that leads to … your zerg getting fed more xp, karma, money. Issue? Yeah … I forgot we all should remain stationary and request access to stake claim to land over tea. Come on guys, the doors thing is nothing new. Hell you may as well add in AoE from base ground to SM 3rd floor. I never knew many who had about 2500+ range. I do think the door mechanics are a little strange at times. But I’m also the advocate that people shouldn’t be able to pvd doors, and would love to see ladders added instead. And dear lord give defense something? Any thing, safe stands you can fire from that aren’t obstructed , all the time when you can see first person the invader is clear as day in front of you.
I don’t think it’s cheating, it’s underhanded … yes. But so are spies on other servers. Oh wait, no one does that with free transfers ;-P
There is alot of dirty pool being played
But it doesn’t matter with the orb or not everybody has a feeling that WvW is fading, and at a fast pace.
Agreed. WvW takes a lot of dedication from guilds who want to make an impact. Yes, individuals also make impacts, but the largest felt are from guilds. An individual cannot take SM or garrison, at least I have not seen it yet. The closest I have seen was 2 manning AH keep in a completely defenseless keep. Not the case any longer months in.
WvW has felt much of the same. It felt much of the same with orbs too though. Just gave a higher priority target, where now you just have to ensure % of what you should own +1 for a win. It’s dry, and in order to be competitive now we have to pve to get ascended gear on top of it? Why does WvW not get any drops period, there’s the odd rare and very, very rare exotic? But to little extent, so now … WvW foccused guilds are pushed to do other aspects games in order to come back and play at the top level playing field. Really makes no sense to me. That’s where I call it competative pve. feels as dry as pve at times, go take ‘x’ & ‘y’ supply, starve them, cut of reinforcements and take them out. Rinse / Repeat. sPVP really isn’t much at all. It’s not alluring, and not nearly as engaging as WvW.. at least is and could carry on to be with a few hugs and cookies thrown its way.
But we’ve been holding our breathe for a very long time, and starting to get the feeling similar to the girlfriend who hopes your proposing, when you really only let her know you think she’s special… again. I’ve always had alot of faith in Anet and I have seen them do a good job relatively speaking in communicating with there community (even if late), but it’s hard to believe that with the amount of WvW chatter going on, and the game hitting that period where bandwagon jumpers move on, that they don’t give a Mike Tyson knock out punch to bring a refueled fire back to this aspect of the game. They are generally good at that. I’ll give it till the new year. these take time and resources, and I think Anet’s heavily investing there time and resources into these monthly events more so than anything else. We’ll see how the next few updates go … whether any attention was given to wvw, or hell if they turn on their words and give us capes, guild keeps and gvg again (not going to hold my breath on that one though – but not ever going to shut down the hope either)
They play their game too … YAY for game dev companies. It’s what we all do. We get into the industry we are most passionate about and do what we can. Hell I would fully love them to come in and battle it out.
No issue at all. Portals are fine, portal bombs are fun. Jump puzzles in wvw you better expect to get hit, by anyone including anet.
Please come to Darkhavens opponents, we’d love to battle it out in there for our siege prints … or just battle it out …
+ 1 because this is a good thing. And I hope it was many anet employees.
That’s not correct. They have. At least twice I know of they have implemented fixes from the playerbase. 1 – Orbs. 2 – Temple of Balthazar
I’m sure there’s more, but they do still listen. Just don’t seem to have enough time to accommodate everyone’s needs all the time.
These server resets lately, I get the feeling its to implement some more fixes. It’s not much more out of that. So they are positive, in a small way. We just don’t know until it comes out.
EDIT: I should add – we don’t know until it comes out and we get communication about why they are doing it. Communication is the key that needs alot of love all the time. There can never be enough. We love to hear from them.
Yes it has been out for a bit more than 3 months and there hasn’t been a single patch regarding WvW. Orbs were removed which made the whole battle less intense. Each server can just unite their own BL and fortify it and who cares about the other two (well you could if you have enough manpower).
I agree with most of what you said, except about the orbs. Orbs being removed made it more intense in terms of close nit, orbs only provided a target and a way to increase gaps between teams. Now its more a slow tight race, but making up points is basically more challenging / next to impossible based on time left.
But, servers who could grab the orbs early and basically play keep away, grew monumental leads which made the other servers just not jump in. Orbs being removed was a positive change.
But I still would love more fixes to some of the mechanics, as well as maps. The note above about having the server vote on your home borderland of the week, is a fantastic suggestion.
We are a group of veteran WvW players… What is important is that, as a guild, we are in the process of discussing and deciding on a new server to call home.
As of right now, guild members have expressed interest in:
Maguuma
Northern Shiverpeaks
Darkhaven.. What we want from YOU is to know if we will be welcomed there, and any opinions about the climate of WvW on your server. Let the discussion commence.
Hi Mandar,
Sorry to cut your original post, but wanted to have the ask clear. Firstly, I’m happy to see your guild has expressed interest in our server. It’s a compliment in it’s own that I take. My name is Xgammon, and I’m from the guild Rethesis on Darkhaven. We have many strong guilds, but even moreso, passionate players who enjoy WvW. We’ve been a growing server for a while now, and have seen great steps forward from everyone in WvW. I could paint the WvW picture of Darkhaven here, but it reflects what many servers already do and would rather see if I can help paint the picture of Darkhaven’s environment.
We battle hard, and play hard, but we have fun. Always. While we do manage strong coordinated offenses, and defenses… we still like to do the random fun aspects … like placing some ballista to farm skales, dropping a trademark at a random location to say we stopped by, or heck … group up and chat with other servers in the jump puzzle. Yes, while we are getting our prints, we will attempt this for the fun of it. Hell we may even man the chains and have our players run through the maze traps in a mock style attack. We may down some players only to let them res themselves, if they attack us again we repeat until they get the picture not to attack. Random things, you know … whatever the flavor of the moment is to add that little bit of fun into the mix.
Someone above me posted to sample the servers first, I believe this is a great way to actually ‘get the feel for the server’. Words can help, but nothing beats experience first hand.
We don’t really care where you came from… you could be the bottom or the top, what matters most, is your guild moves together, and plays together. So where ever you find your new home, I hope it’s a perfect fit. Darkhaven sometimes has queues on friday reset, usually no longer than 10 minutes though. Other nights tend to be just fine.
Our peak play period where those queues occur is around 9pm PST. I’m not certain where your located, or how that works or does not work with your guild… but that’s the period it seems busiest. Everything outside of that is subject to change. We do have players and a guild with some Aus time zone coverage, but we are primarily a PST NA server. With a lot of friendlies in EST.
Thanks for considering Darkhaven. we’d be more than happy to have you. Hell we’d guest ya if it worked ;-)
Feel free to IM me ingame, or test the waters with a few guildies. Let me know, we’ll have a golem two step dance party to kick it off before we go take something. Or set up a good ol’ Fight Club with some of those servers.
~Xgammon [RE] Darkhaven
PS… I think your guild has shown great wisdom in the selection. Of all the servers, I’d back all of them as they’ve shown me class, intelligence, while having fun in WvW. Not to say others have not, but it’s been more prevailant in my eyes on the 3 listed.
Look forward to speaking further.
Great story Rob. I enjoyed the read, and for some odd reason, yearn to watch some Game of Thrones
We’ll attack DB, and we’ll attack NSP, discussing logic on why DH attack DB more so is a waste of time. Your smart enough to figure it out on your own I’m sure of that (yes I will give you credit and have faith in you). Out of respect, this battles been wearing on many, so sometimes perceptions are construed. Happens, enjoy the ride together though. We’ll be seeing alot of eachother unless we have some major changes in WvW, either server(s) or overall.
1. Some means to modify it from a numbers game.
2. Overlook not to be able to treb SM, should be from ANZ or Ogre’s
3. Maps, with reset the maps should pull from a pool.
4. Ladder system to view some stats, we all love stats. Need some reason to try to improve
5. Upscaled players = free badges
6. Drop rate of exotics is terrible. Would be nice if this was bumped, hell toss in a precursor once per month per server. Some lucky guy actually makes money.
7. Money … speaking of money … it’s very light in tight battles, you go through as much in siege, repairs, and random trash (yes thats the only thing we get outside of badges and the odd unid’d dye- maybe 1 or 2 yellows every 5-6 hours).
Outside of that, I think I’ve supported what I feel are relevant to server wide benefits. I only wvw because I enjoy playing against players. If I need money though, I have to dungeon and farm in cursed? Makes no sense. How many times does a pve or dungeon player die? (I hope you answer 0 in pve, and maybe 1-2 if your not paying attention in some dungeons). WvW – we die alot, because we fight players, not AI. We repair a lot more than them, WvW feels like a choice between repairing and battling or saving some coin.
I am WM-GW2 lead officer, “Jang Gun”.
…My loyalty to ANet is hitting the floor these days.
Hello Jang Gun, Sorry to hear that ^^ … but that is a personal feeling. Only you can change, not anet. I’m certain you are a strong leader for your guild. Takes a lot to post the type of post you crafted. I do not intend to troll it, so let’s get to the beef.
1. A unique reward only for WvW (seems like PvE and sPvP has some, but why not WvW)?
WvW has unique rewards, badge armor and weapons … but they all share the same skin as karma armor from gods. Adding unique skins here would help. Also keep in mind WvW should focus on server rewards, not personal. you can go in and get a chest/monetary reward by doing the jump puzzle. Seems silly to have a JP in a battle zone, for the same reason you are asking for a personal reward.
2. Raid UI (the most basic thing that was supposed to be implemented, this is nonsense)
As in squad UI? Not Raid UI, something to manage, see, and communicate within a squad? I’ll agree to this. Would be more useful for squads and commanders to do something. But please do not ask for a Raid UI and large party UI where you can click on player bars. I would like improvements to the squad functions. Right now they are fairly useless.
3. Motivaction to WvW (something like a buff to all server members – increase drop rate in dungeons?)
You get this already. Seems like your just less informed about WvW. Please do some further reading, you will see what you get and how you get it.
4. Guild cape system (the current GUILD system is total crap, I feel sympathy for it)
There is an emblem system, through the guild armorer. It’s neat, but not great, we all love capes.
5. Implement a temple type mechanism on the center island of each borderlands (simliar to orbs but can be fought over constantly)
The quaggan island, ruined temple is there. Are you asking each to have a mini StoneMist? I like the idea. Also … improve the quaggan power for goodness sakes, give them the same level of power the dredge, hylek and ogres have. Quaggans are way too weak.
6. New MAP (How do we even have 3 out of 4 maps to be exactly the same)
Balance. Server borderlands = the same for the same reason. We all start in our own areas on each map. It’s called balance. How the battles play out is up to the servers. I would like the borderlands to change, or have something to give it a refreshing feel. It’s very stagnant atm, but it’s the same for some equal footing for each server.
7. 20v20 structured PvP (2 towers, 2 supplies, and a center flag)
Not a bad idea, but I’d rather see something that will never happen. GvG – but this was exciting, but this is not GW1, and I have to remind myself that.
8. Give points based on player kills (not just capping objectives)
You get points per kill, they just come in different formats. Player kills are personal, not server wide, thus they fall into your hero’s achievements. Server wide objectives are based on affecting the WvW.
9. Rankings of players and/or guilds for WvW
Would be nice, especially if it’s not based on (tier1 server = top 100 guilds)… some manner that provides guilds from the lower tiers to potentially be able to place #1-10 overall if they deserved it. Options that give a fair shot at lower tier people and guilds. This would also help populations of people even out the servers (this is just a hunch, we’d also server transfers from top to lower occur unless that is accounted for).
Currently in WvW, the most important factor in playing is “Why do I have to WvW?”. This is very important.
You can’t answer that? Firstly, you do not HAVE to do anything. GW2 is not a sub game where you feel the need to do ‘x’ to get ‘y’ (carrot on a stick). You play because you WANT to play. If you are not enjoying an aspect, it may be because the game is not for YOU. Everyone WvW’s because we love it, have fun, and enjoy each others company in doing so.
… But is the reason that they are not providing such is because they lack the skills or they don’t try hard enough or they aren’t motivated themselves? …
last, i will believe ArenaNet.
^^ wow, if you left this line out, I would believe your starting to sound childish. Insinuating the developer has no skills on their own forum? but i will once again give you the benefit of the doubt.
You can always come back when you think the improvements you are asking for are in place. your not tied to this game with a sub bud.
~Xgammon, Darkhaven [RE]
SoS, very impressive work this week. Just wanted to put it out there. All of these servers seem to be playing competitively well. .
@ Original joker, miss ya and hope you guys are doing well up here.
Always welcomed back to DH if things change in future. Best of luck to all in the coming week, just wanted to pop in and take a peak how this battle was going
~Xgammon [RE], Darkhaven
Answer – the purpose of keeping score is to completely bloat my personal ego and it helps my hammer hit harder, my sword cut deeper, and my spells explode larger and longer. Kidding, sorta.
Ask yourself how you will retain tier’s and brackets if you have no score? Everything is not monetarily rewarded. If that is what you are after, you should pve, kill an enemy = get a reward (may be crappy, but you got your reward). Or sPVP. We have worlds/servers … we need some means to manage them.
OS is NSP.
And regardless of outcome, if FA is still in the bracket up above, they will crush any of our servers. There is not enough here on any server regardless of what you think. Some guy on maguuma gave me the heads up about them weeks back, and when we battled, it was even worse than your heart wants to convince you.
If you were to have a fighting chance at being competitive in the bracket above, you really do need 24 hour coverage.
these past two weeks however, have been a blast. I’ve enjoyed the battles. And you know how to tell when it’s close right? Squabbling over tag teams … things in mind that seem so real are intensified with competition. We all belong together, and yes DB you will be getting stronger, with your new additions. But reality sets in on the first 24 hour full server coverage.
Mag’s and Ehmry are great, but they are much like our 3 servers. You guys all played well these past 2 weeks, and I’m certain we all have gone through so much siege our pockets are feeling the hurt.
To the guy who posted the karma/capping train thought, it would be nice to build everyone’s bank roll back up. But will never happen.
Hopefully DH can increase our Asia Pacific and EU/early bird EST coverage, we’re growing there, but still a lot of room for any looking to fill that gap. We have good NA prime to PST midnight, growing AsiaPac / Australia coverage, but little early bird EST specials.
Looking forward to more battles with you all tonight, regardless of race or color… fight hard.
Just a refresher to those who attempt, remind your friends to waypoint and run back up from rally wp. I know its common sense, but you fail mainly because of the kpretty kitty’s who just sit there thinking somebody will have enough time to res ya (and lack of focus on the boss versus trash mobs). Downed = okay, dead = waypoint and run, its really a close waypoint anyways.
Kite kitty’s kite, and you win
