Then instead of moving on to attack each other to gain points, we are spawn camped. This would happen for at least 4-6 hours. Is that normal? I have never seen this happen to this extent from any other match. Would this be fun if this happened to you? Does our NA primetime deserve to be treated like this just because of what happens on the nights?

… ^^ this … is what happened to DH from DB in EB Saturday night. Sunday was called revenge … it’s never fun being spawn camped, especially when your literally at the stairs of our legendary.

So please keep in mind, that although you do not do it, your server when prime does. It is natural when you are battling for the lead to see this. And never feels good (speaking from my experience). At least you guys were able to rally into a close tower. We … didn’t have the option.

It just sucks playing when not on prime, numbers win. Outmanned buff = farming / levelling buff? Makes no sense, but yes … to answer your question it does happen.

It’s even worse the next tier up. FA zerg is larger than life ;-)

But frustration can run high at times, like last night when NSP parked their zerg in Panglos depriving us of much needed supply and attacking Veloka while we were trying to defend against DH. Then just as we managed to kick NSP out of Panglos, DH swoops in with a bunch of golems and takes the keep. Of course all that was happening while we had glorious outmanned buff. ;p It, acctually, could’ve been a good fight if DH didn’t use golems lol.

Can’t help it. We only intended the golems to be used for SM. And sacked at your keep feet. Worked out better than intended though.

You’ll likely farm those (in fotm) before we run it (looking at this weekend Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon). We’re on Darkhaven and the event is not bugged (was) but we pulled the risen to kill off the npc’s and completed it last Friday. Why didn’t I share this? (because I found out when I got home from work on Friday 6:30pm, that they did it at Friday afternoon before reset, and it was contested once again so I missed the boat).

So going to go ahead and get a second group for those who work 9-5 PST jobs and were not able to attend. So proactively I’m going to tally up our primary guilds, and socialize it in all major maps for everyone to plan for (the last minute things never work for working or family guys & gals). I’d like to get this kicked off prior to then, but want to provide ample time to everyone. I’ll post on here if we are successful, so those of you who have the unfortunate bug lock and pending your shards can try to get in if we are successful.

Going in knowing it can bug out, and with a couple things to try to unbug it. Socializing the message to ensure everyone who attends knows it may bug out is a start. Not going in with a fear of it bugging out, just means no way to spend that karma. I know there are many large guilds on my server and players alone who need to dump out some karma, so I’d like to at the very least, give them all a shot. I’m fine with socializing it and drumming up the numbers and healers (sorry I meant dedicated support roles that are responsible for healing the npc’s- politically correct?), just want to know what’s the best avenue, here or create another thread?

I don’t want to de-rail what this thread is to be used for out of respect. Is there a running list of current bugged servers (because I only see 2 servers in the bug section that are actively unable to open)?

Such a fun little siege battle with NSP at Golanta’s last night (I want to say 11am-12am PST or so). Hope you guys enjoyed it too. Sad we had to run to SM, but wanted to put it out there … we all had a blast. A little different than the standard … hold out as long as you can against the massive DB zerg battles that start occurring at the later hours of the night.

I know throughout the day all serves face the same at some point, not much we can do about the peak timing thing on our servers, but hey … that camp battle was my fav part of the night. Well, next to the taking of DB keep. Those kitten hyleks are where its at :-) see ya again tonight hopefully.

Is this the best thread to post/organize a server event to open the temple up? Or is it advised to create a new thread and possibly share event success in here?

Don’t want to step on anyone’s toes… but it’s about time to open this bad boy up. Been watching this thread to see about the transferring servers to get my shards, but kinda goes against my ideals and will rather rally the server (and all those chasing there legendary for a server & multi guild event). Hard to schedule without impact to wvw atm, being so close. Still planning.

thank you for sharing this, not many would be so bold to do so. I feel for those golems, but glad you guys got to go in and make use of them. better than letting them die off untouched. That’s the saddest way for a golem to go ;-) … at least they go up to golem heaven for dying in battle.

For some nice fun light hearted exposure – pop by Darkhaven. No queues, lots of fun, and we train up people all the time (not rigimented). We have a very open server map chat with many guilds who like to help welcome newer players into the wvw realm. We like to have fun while we play – like many of the servers. Best of luck~

The one thing I should suggest to you is to find a server open and friendly who can support you guys. There is a lot of communications that go on map chat in wvw and alot can be intimidating. rather than being scared off, find a home where you can tip toe into the waters and learn the ropes (get into the swing of things). Foreign concepts go away right quick with that little bit of explanation. And I find the community at darkhaven very helpful.

You can’t have funday with out a dance party. Everyone should bring costumes and costume brawl. Fund the guild keg, and get all freaky on the field. Well maybe not the latter, but …

NSP Is doing incredibly well for having all of 2-3 medium sized organized guilds. We have been fighting people like GOF and RE from Darkhaven, two massive guilds and the point difference this week is not enough to justify that we have the outmanned buff and never have ques.

I’ll second this. OS from NSP have been playing extremely well. In fact, I’ll extend it to your server – I shouldn’t limit it to just OS. This week has been an extremely close tight battle, it has to be one of the closest yet. And from what i can tell … and offer:

Darkhaven (my server) – has some great players, we always do welcome a larger like-minded player base. But we do presently have some great larger guilds working together as noted.
DragonBrand – Just a massive late night zerg who claw away everything in their path. I believe they have a decent and largest presence 12pm onwards. Continually send us to bed with nightmares (kidding) … but you got some heavy numbers (which surprised the heck out of me this week, so I think you have recruited some guilds since our last meeting).
NSP – Definitely strong in tactics, but still working on growing their numbers. I know they lost a few guilds last month, and are still growing. May be a good fit for a 40 person guild who would like to make an impact.

This is just based on my weeks present match up and perspective (in comparison to the last time I played against them).

Regardless of where you find your home, I hope it suits your guild and objective well. I do hope you don’t just jump to the top, but rather consider the server and what you want to bring to the server.

I think the majority of the guilds on our server couldn’t really give a toot who takes credit.. Guilds or people who try to claim credit or portray them selves to be better than the other guilds are weak and have no idea what holds a server like ours together.

We all work at different times holding those key positions till more people come on and replace them. Said guilds go on break from wvw often as has been seen previously and the other guilds on our server will ALWAYS pick up the slack. keep up the fight Darkhaven!

^^ This. Brilliantly simple … and honestly …. I think I’ve only seen at most, 2 emotional outbursts by a random person at separate nights over losses when outmanned late night to the DB zerg. One in EB, and one in (I want to say DB BL, but honestly can’t remember if it were NSP).

But rather irrelevant, and the consensus seemed to settle it right quick, regardless of guild, tag or anything. The consensus of the server battling spoke about darkhaven as darkhaven versus the enemy. To anyone who is still a little up tight about credit and what not, if you’ve been following the trend since the initial posting from red owl and the in game battles, map chat. I’m certain you’ve seen the change. It’s prevailant everywhere.

In battle, there are times where hearts get excited (especially on good battles, cross duration). Some go our way, some do not … but the most important thing I have been witness to was the growing strength of our solidity. I actually commend red for the perfect timing to help us all sit and think about it. Even if completely unintentional, it alone had triggered multiple positive things for our server.

And with that note, I’d like to commend everyone who has helped turned the tide of this week (regardless of server, there have been some nice moves by everyone). It’s been nothing short of a fun enjoyable experience, and closely bracketed battle. On DH, all our teams may overlap slightly on peaks, but it’s irrelevant when we all dig our heels in and do what we can for our server. I’ve had the opportunity to run with many folks who normally I have not had the time to. Sorry for not retaining all the tags, there have been many of you (could be a couple friends in a guild), could be larger. But random people making a difference – whether nodes, or camps, or helping out at a tower/keep, coupled with some retention of our towers and keeps (great communication), and some pivotal offensive moves (on all borderlands) across the past 48 hours especially.

You all should be proud, this one is close… and regardless of outcome, should feel a sense of accomplishment because it has counted.

I’m also going to extend the thank you to NSP and DB. I personally have enjoyed our battles, whether 1:1 (ya you mr ele & warrior from DB chasing my norn warrior). The necro from DB I saw on the quagan middle isle – great battle), and the nsp crew who clean my clock there right after. Just to speak of a few moments last night in DB BL.

You guys have all given a great battle, and I look forward to more with ya again.

Wow amazing battle at DH Keep in EB tonight. Both NSP and DB knocking on both doors and we managed to hold for 2 hours and eventually push out. Really great defending by everyone there. It seemed like a big mash up of random pugs just trying their hardest.

I wish I was still there but a man needs to sleep.

I am going a step further on this. First, I’d like to say I fully agree. Oh my was that a hell of a lot of fun. Every time, and I think your Skap from your signature. Great job bud. You did some solid communication. Also to those on EB, during that later period, from SM’s slow retake from DB, you all did a great job calling %, and numbers.

To the elementalist name who sent me the golem food, it was appreciated. Sadly we never really got to use it all too much.

Also, to those who helped supply up the treb’s in SM, it is noted and very appreciated.
there was many positive takeaways from EB last night. I felt proud, I had some fun, and I think everyone kinda did.

God DB just toss away siege … always, it never stops … even if one goes down from a ballista in sight, laying another right next to it? Never going to understand that but it provided some good humour moments in constant times of battle. One of our guildies was thouroughly enjoying it, and I’m certain many of you did as well

Also, on our comm, I overheard some late night attacks and defenses ongoing in our own BL, and wanted to say great job there guys. I only was able to hear it via guildie (while in EB all night), but from what I heard … it was a good stand and you should be proud. Especially the dawn’s erye stand. Sounded like you guys fended off the entire 40 man zerg or so.

Hi there friendlies, just wanted to say wow … I have had such a fun and enjoyable week this go around. All 3 servers … have played solidly. We all have peak coverage areas slowly overlapping, and we all see areas of improvement that we need to fill.

But, the battles, were nothing short of epic. Congrats to everyone in wvw for putting on such a strong showing. I personally have enjoyed this. to the point I am not wanting/caring to do anything else but wvw.

Now if only we could look for a way to increase our server population in non-peak hours =) maybe those golems would have gone down a different path (if they were truly walking, I’m a little surprised it was met with no resistance at all? but I bet you and team had a fun time).

I think night/morning … aka APAC/EUR coverage is a common theme for many NA servers. It’s something that is always on the board, but still trying to find a way to improve. Not many people from other regions would come to a high pop server, with low pop wvw time to face pretty challenging odds every day. Many individuals I believe would rather find a server with high pop during there prime time with successful runs/takeovers and fun in wvw. But it is always in discussion.

I have been also guilty in past and hope you see this as a step in the right direction. IM me if you are interested in partying up tonight for a bit.

The endless loading screen between maps … is that related to the increase in DC’s as well lately. Since this past patch, my game client now DC’s nightly at least once…. more often usually (at least 2 -3 times in wvw, across 5 hours of play).

Never used to have this issue. It’s gotten to the point when my client sends information to you guys, I’m just hitting the send button.

It’s really impacting game play and experience. I mean what game out there crashes or has these issues this frequently?

fyi … yes, I have freshly imaged my drive, checked to ensure updated drivers, not issues with my h/w and driver config. Reinstalled the game client, tested other games and run fine. Hell even gw1 runs fine, but I know its 2 completely separate games game engines etc.

Is there anything we can do outside of sending those reports? Is there some settings we should change? Is it related to the camera view / graphics chipset? If there is something I can do on my part, I’m more than happy to. Can a configuration help mitigate these interim as a band-aid until a fix is in place?

I want to do something here … to avoid getting randomly black screened while running in a match up. Any suggestions are appreciated, until then keep well, and hope this is resolved soon.

Once RE enters a map, and if Ethersin wants to hold something, we will hold it thats for sure though.

Little, I didn’t know where else to post… but the work paid off. Wish you were there man. Big dividends. Red painted the NSP BL, except for certain said keep, strangely deceiving supply camp, and tower.

We held as long as we could while the numbers died off, we lasted until 1:20am … when yes, there was literally 8 of us, with all our siege still in tact. To those who got to participate, that … my friends … was the reward from the work on defense (often overlooked), but what an epic long battle. It was fun, and extremely long.

My brief overview for what I can provide … DB made a east gate attempt, we had enough numbers to drive them off, they came back a little later and floated to south gate, and driven off – including a great battle at the supply camp. It went quiet for twenty minutes, as NSP returned to paint their BL back green. Everywhere else. Then the final stand came about with only 10 or so of us, and soon dwindled to … I swear it was 8. 5 re and 2 other guys, one of them kept helping at the gate, I kept the inner refresh alive as well as south, kangan & win laid eyes for hidden trebs, dia played counter treb, supain & Z, kept pressure on the front line (cata, and door) … and the others … we all had a blast utilizing those pieces. They did not go to waste, and the battle was … long. The enemy knew it was going to be long, and they would eventually get it … a hour and half later (at least felt like it – 1:15am PST I think we lost).

Thank you, for all you help and support, I wish you were there man, but I know we’ll have more battles in future together.

Thank you to the others who decided to stay and fend off as long as we could … it was a great stand.

fyi … to the other servers, going to shout out a compliment on the determination and effort, you definitely had some coordination attempting one strike, then moving when it wasn’t working … until you finally took the push to north keep, and some decent treb placement. It was a very enjoyable battle on our side, and I wanted to shout out to you guys for that.

Also … the certain thief and small party roaming around the south west supply camp and southwest tower (outside DH spawn )… was also an interesting variance time to time. Curious to speak with you as we appreciate a good player, and had some questions on your skills if you read these forums. (between 9pm-1am PST)

What does need to be implemented is some extra little menu that displays all the commanders on a map and lets you choose which ones you see.

Select a commander and make his icon red. This does not stop you seeing where other [blue icon] commanders that are on the map, it highlights the commander(s) you wish to follow/see better, and still allows people to spend the 100g.

But who is going to want to see a map covered in Doritos? Under the current system, we will see cool ranch and spicy all over the place eventually, MIXED TOGETHER – that can’t be right (or could be fantastic).

What they need to do is change the icons, and give a viable way of people seeing the squad… as well as other commanders (so you can see as people log in / out of maps).

Smaller icons in colour pls. what are the inputs you should see …

Small player icons
- colour 1 (green) = players in your direct vacinty but not in your party or squad
- colour 2 (blue) = players in your party
- colour 3 (purple) = players in your squad

• optional (colour 4 guild members in wvw brown dot?) — well we already have the names changed, not sure this is necessary, you can /guild chat /voice comm ‘where are you guys at?’

Smaller slicker commander icons
- colour 4 (red) = your commander
- colour 5 (blue, needs to change) = other commanders on map

Commander Badges should be a reward out of WvW in some way, that reflect experience and time spend in World vs. World, not a reward for being rich. Being rich demonstrates time spent OUTSIDE of World vs World. And ultimately World vs. World is the main reason we have that Commanders Badge anyway, and it’s the only use case currently.

Kidding of course, but I agree with some of the notes (I think the guy from pro wrote it up above). Kinda silly seeing 3-4 new blue doritos each week. no idea if they are hoppers or just farmed it.

I absolutely love the idea of having a server voting option say weekly or if that’s too cumbersome – monthly. And those are your commanders for the next period of time. Yes, this has it’s own issues which I haven’t thought about how to handle (same guys getting in repetitively just based on # of votes or buying yourself in. And limiting that tends to lead to the good commanders having to sit out a week or so.

I can see it now – by Christmas … we will all have 20+ commanders per map all day everyday… and no way to right click the guy you want to join squad on, because other tags are covering them up.

Maybe the all new icon ‘the golden pretzel’ for voted in commanders – yes son, one day you can be president too (err, I mean commander, voted in by your peers). Voting is only permitted if you spend ‘x’ time in wvw (something based on like 25% of average player time to qualify, some way to account for those who wvw but work / family / irl but still wvw as much as they can when they log in).

Just some thoughts.

It was actually implemented later than sPvP. It’s to limit the damage output of AoE versus zerg’s. Basically having 5 guys who can wipe 20 on a spike was frowned upon (as funny as it is).

Which inadvertently led to solidifying the need for a zerg & numbers to be a success factor in wvw. No one can justly argue the skill factor versus the numbers = win and threads pop up about it all the time.

If there is a cap on qty of siege, and you put no timer on, your will run into the other issue of despawning siege to lay new siege. And you cannot put that decision into a random option (it’s just a bad thought). Increasing the timer though, isn’t a terrible idea. I absolutely hate having to run around refreshing siege versus focusing on other elements. Like optimal positions of placement for defense, running supplies, and leaving enough room to ‘have’ fun. ie … take a camp/keep that you intend on flipping, but leaving a trademark’. We do it all the time if it’s deep and not supported.

It is one of those annoying things. 10 hours though is far too long. Take a sample of Friday night, where you get your respective keeps, flip towers and start building lines … 200 siege are laid very fast. Yes, many destroyed, but many not. and if your considering it as a solution to have siege laid at night and there when you wake up… that’s not an option. When you log, consider it lost, or donated to whomever picks up your torch, but the next morning you should be considering things ‘fresh’. Not every server has full coverage. But I do want to spend more time thinking about other things than building up 20-40 siege in a keep only to have to run around and touch them every now and then (not fun imo). Maybe up it to an hour or 2. Keeps and towers should be hit enough within that time frame while still keeping it personal and relevant.

Not even considering the ‘money sink’ aspect. That’s another balance that has to be considered when thinking of changing a refresh/despawn timer.

But i’ll /sign the note of it being an annoying part for wvw

Don’t you just love being on a server where you don’t have a voice of your own? When referencing your opinion, the correct sentence is ‘I do not like it, not on a world versus world map intended for <insert your supportive reason here>’

It’s in place already though (it’s been in place for a while, but new to you) ~ but it will never stop people from posting in ‘the’ central 3 server thread on guildwars2 forum, complimenting and thanking for the enjoyable experience publicly. It’s an event that occur in the wvw maps. The very same thread that the odd individual can come through and post who do not enjoy it, and provide reason why. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Yours is noted. Invites would not be delivered then if you do not wish it, it is not forced. Optional fun.

You say polite, but when you read it, it comes out very condescending. Also you shouldn’t have to write out ‘I say this politely’ … insinuates you do not believe it yourself and need to add extra clarity. We get it you don’t like it, no biggie. Others do. Including some from your server.

This week has some memorable times, and is enjoyable, regardless of outcomes. At least I have enjoyed some moments. Wouldn’t want to speak on others behalf.

fyi to the above poster, whom said leave the character in game for 30 seconds, if the mechanic is the same mechanic used in pve it won’t fly. It’s have to be seperate and not sure it is something that could be easily done.

It may be because our BL is covered with FA and we need a change. Your BL isn’t much better though tbh.

What royally sucks this week, is I’ve been trying to level alts (what a bad choice to begin with- I know), and get some seige prints in the BL’s … but it’s so very not worth entering WvW. Every time I ‘check’ or poke my head into the jump puzzle, all I see are FA guys running around chasing whatever they can find, like horny little teenagers at a party.

No sir, I do not wish to pay a repair bill (or 100 when I only will make a couple silver tops in wvw) this week (you bad men go away and do not touch me!). So saddened that I have to pve to level him (ewww). FA does try to comfort me with many group hugs (thanks for the welcoming party), but they hug me so hard my guy cannot breath and decides to lay there… lifeless (crushed by love of bad men?), my lowly little 23’s or 40’s …

:) … huzzah it is friday … next time i see FA on our board, will be much of the same (skip wvw entirely until our server has some 24 hour presence). Noticably a huge mismatch with the exception of a few rare small even battles.

/signed … I either find myself dropping whatever I can because I’m happy about a take and don’t care about the cash – euphoria on a job well done (minus this week FA) … or fire and forget – because who really wants to drop 1.5 gold, all the time. Time for supply running. I would definitely consider a drop box system to donate on the fly.

Also might take some relief off the guilds who are continually forking out there $. All servers should /sign this. I know some of you don’t care, but a server should be able to donate, not 1 person.

Whoa, whoa whoa … bud. We all have our frustrations, but try to keep the dirty laundry offline. It’s not very classy and quite disrespectful to throw mates under the bus just because they are having the same challenges as you, but deciding to do some small things they can.

This is not meant in anyway disrespectful, please understand that. Just not the best way to position yourself, when considering & likely moving server(s).

Looks like Zastari was only laying perspective and ideas on the table for discussion. You know that traits such as the above you mention exist everywhere. It’s not the individual themselves. If you move to Borliss Pass, you may find some great new friends, and like minded players, however … you likely will also run into people who may do much of the same.

I hope things work out for you either way, but if you do move servers, don’t air your dirty laundry on the forums. It breeds further conflict, and there is already enough of that going around. I’m certain your a better person and player then to go point the finger at the commanders (when really your just expressing frustration). Hold your head high, regardless of what you do. Just do it as a leader, not like the above.

Current servers with WvWvW queues (even if short, or only on EB for any time period outside of friday night) … less than 10. Believe it or not, there needs to be more players to fill the fields of the current pop before increasing the wvwvw maps could even be considered. Total servers in the regions (what is it 24?) sorry I don’t have it handy.

We need more bodies into wvwvw. Hoping somehow this weekend event can piggyback some more numbers into wvw (and not the opposite effect).

If we want equality or at least some better battles, we need all the servers to have larger people playing, around the clock. I don’t see this happening anytime soon if it stays idle as is. No monetary gain or carrot for those (outside of there 500 badges). we need to send cookies to the ANet marketing team or greater. Otherwise it will remain in the current state. My thoughts on this anyway.

This week isn’t really anything … at all. Most DH seriously took a break. I personally don’t care and washed it off as the week to get back to things I left tabled (due to the fun week with maguuma prior). We don’t have 24 hour coverage, not even close. And the only reason I ever visit WvW is to pop in, check if there’s a ninja strike, or something to that affect. No … I am not planning to sit in WvW and go take camps or nodes with the other 5 people. No one enjoys getting rolled by a wall. I will go in once in a blue moon, and punch the zerg flat in the kisser, usually knowing the outcome ahead of that decision. I won’t make choices on feelings or fairweather. Facts are facts, and it is not enjoyable to experience these weeks, so why waste my valueable time. yes, I am one of many who easily let this week skip by to hmm … go do something irl, or regain some funds for our next match with maguuma. Because they are fun. We enjoy our common ground, we will fight club, we will go do things together, and keep battles separate. we have common understandings and share that. FA, I find the spawn camping, puzzle camping … and those sorts not for me. This is a difference. I enjoy battle, but it’s not the be all end all. I rather enjoy building and community. There’s alot more of that I see from other servers.

You guys deserve to be up with TC, and others like BG. not with the servers who have 3-5 hour coverage. But for the 1 or 2 hours this week I have seen opportunities to 4v4 or less, I will credit the PRO & GODS squads for there discipline, skill and prowess. The rest imho, is basically trashy. I couldn’t imagine it being fun looking at a green map and not having anything to do (which is fairly easy given we have maybe 5 a map combining late nights – with a whopping peak of maybe 15-20, we’ve been there too, when we badly outclass lower tier servers than us). And other servers do it all the time. So you do see it, if you look at the other threads.

One more day, then we can part ways. Wish it wasn’t so dead, but reality is … well … it is – not because of 1 guild. Because all guilds and players just pulled back from wvw this week.

For the continued FA shots back ~ this is a numbers game right now. If your smart enough to plan (a) single tactic ~ you know how the math works. You also know coming in that we wouldn’t be playing … much at all. I see you guys all the time … looking for something to do. Take a hint, and toss your ego in the garbage. It only makes your communication foolishly offensive. ^^ complimented you.

Egos aside, we’ll obviously not be having a relation with your server ‘every time we see you’. I’ll look for the servers who are more equally matched, and fight / enjoy / battle with them. Until our server is better in a position to compete 24/7. Which we are not.

I don;t want to come off singling the ‘we’ and ‘you’ … but honestly it won’t matter what aspect of anything you are playing. Your looking for more. And if Anet were to abide by it and give you more, you will again hit that bridge and come back and post this thread version2 … if your following.

I do understand what you are saying, but your actually looking for a cycle of things in order to sustain your wants. A rank system will have a cap ~ and guess what happens when you reach it … version 2 of ‘now what?’

A lot of players enjoy the ability to play others in the level capacity. Most companies these days – cater to the masses because … I’m almost certain, wait for it … wait for it … they prefer to have masses as consumers versus the few. Helps with a companies stability.

I wish I could make a viable suggestion to help in some way here for you guys … but I’m not certain it’s going to help. What is it you truly seek? Challenge? or some form of substance increase. Achievements aren’t your cup of tea ~ okay well maybe you should take a break.

WvW is where I’ll be because challenge to me is – increasing the overall server, helping where I can … not based on I need my /rank or /title and deer/wolf/tiger/phoenix to pew pew at others. But that is to me.

Define what is for you, what do you want from the game, what is it you like to do? Honestly if you can’t answer that within what this game has to offer, then well you have your answer (even if it’s not the one you want)

I half expected the defensive bout round 3 – to help inform the community and maybe get a couple more numbers to support ya in there.

I’m a huge norn (largest model possible) … big and ugly. With my rifle, I would expect I can have a hay day shooting down at the little ants poking about, but I spend more time trying to find a target far enough away (within range) so my shot hits, then actually defending when my ankles are being blocked. The sad thing is – my range versus my target-able area is like … a section of 10 feet in the back of my range (so it feels when I don’t jump on a ledge). But hey … not a problem to pew pew me, big huge target, easily target-able not only by aoe (I kinda would expect this) but by rangers, rifles, pistols, anything down below me – necro staff – you name it.

Promoting defense when random players deal with this = a one time wonder, where they will rarely care to help again on defense. Sad panda, but I’ll carry on working within these restrictions even though I don’t get it.

Wow … I’m absolutely beat. Dog tired, dead tired – broke as a joke, and drawing prints on napkins … but have enjoyed this crazy train all week long.

All 3 servers definitely deserve props. I know we’re all not used to this, or at least extending our play periods by extra hours ‘every’ night. So much different then the other matches where you secure the first few days push to gain ground throughout the week, and then the final couple days to secure enough of a gap teams either slow or the score is a major after thought.

I know its not about winning or losing, and yes … I would take this matchup in a heart beat again. Wanted to put out a thanks for the WvW populations on these 3 servers who contributed to what I can safely confirm has been my most enjoyable experience to date. We always get the frustrations, week in and week out about the common issues and improvement areas. To everyone on Darkhaven, Maguuma, and DragonBrand (yes all of you who kept me up until 4:45am PST last night in our borderland) … only to have yet another 3 hour sleep before heading into work (shakes fists smiling), everyone who reads this … I would like to thank. Personally I don’t see this occurring very often, and definitely can’t be putting in those hours always. This week however, felt special. So I’m okay with it.

I hope you guys feel the same, and we’ll look to each other’s growing rivalries, and building some friendships along the way (appreciate the brief break of fun early on last night).

My poor neglected alt’s and push for legendary … is another week out courtesy of the ride. Job well done, and please takeaway this note as a compliment to everyone’s successes and failures. Even failed attempts have contributed to the base of other success.

Special thanks to all of the commanders for there continued efforts and solid performance in EB. You guys I know are extremely tired. And special thanks to you, the community members who are participating and communicating in such a positive light here on Anet’s forums.

@ Little, threnn, and dia … I was shocked we had those PUG member’s helping out ~ those were the first two guys who solidly helped a defensive effort for a good half hour (I forget your names misters, but you helped in large building up AH even though we were sadly outmanned).

Not sure if any read this (win, november, canadian phoenix and others who helped), but thank you for the 3:15am-4:45am almost hour and a half long defense against the DB invasion of SH in our backyard.

Don’t be so fast as to report them … fyi, there are guys like me who sometimes get dc’d … nightly … at least 3-4 times for various reasons (pressing down on a certain area on my laptop too hard in my excitement in combat, or trying to pan my camera but dragging the screen down to the go to desktop area- for some reason my game client and video card translate this to a black screen with only the guildwars cursor appearing) … this is isolated to me. But I’ve done his when downed by accident, when running and looking at the map, hell in a golem. Not entirely intentional. If you see it happening a lot with a server (then ya, someone is on their promoting that type of behaviour) – not going to name names. But just because you don’t get a kill should not equal a direct report on a persons account. fyi I am from darkhaven and to my knowledge we don’t have any one who does this or cares to do this because when you drop, you likely have to queue up for eb or the hot map again.

I get loot and xp. I think the xp and loot is a little shaky, because I’ve tagged people in normal combat … contributed to most of there dmg, and gotten zip.

Also is there a timer on the amount of badges you can earn a day or in a 24 hour span? I assume so because often when I start the night, my first 3 hours are dry~ my 4th I might see a couple, then it picks up from there.

Low level players should be more support though, run supply, man siege, defend from towers and keeps, and don’t rush into combat and die right away, which puts a burden on your team.

But then they will never level, except when defending, which effectively would take about 4 times longer than pve as running supplies and building defense does nothing for your xp presently. No incentive = no way in hell any on john or jane would be bothered.

Leveling is ridiculous in wvw unless you are in a safety net of 80’s which still doesn’t guarantee your survival but gives you a better shot to get xp, outside of nodes, dolyak’s and guards – which some characters even have issues with

EDIT: I forgot to add AI like wolves and wurms etc.. useless … if I am going to go in to wvwvw to level my alt and farm ai, then guess what … your not doing anything different then pve, and pve has alot more ‘creativity’ and variety to offer. So no point on those either

WvW gives plenty of reward… for offense. Little to no reward for building, and setting up defense. Dependent rewards for defense (dependent as they have to attack your location your building), and some minimal environmental rewards ~ worms, quaggan, krait, puzzles- err a puzzle per map.

A bit of attention to ‘building’ or developing defense coupled with some form to pull/intro players from pve …. like a big bad boss man event that changes ~ say king kong style who comes creeping across the land till downed might add some players to cross the portal every now and then. Problem is the map size would effectively limit the amount of players that can play this content. Pulling everyone to the one zone will effectively build queue times unless those numbers are increased. Kinda a pickle or better yet, a banana ;-)

Something about water, not sure given the map constraints, but I find the nodes, and krait on BL more a solo type of offering to the playerbase, and nothing seige related required. Really not too interested in the water if I was looking offensively for battle.

The ladders would be great, but why waste money on attacking doors then. Just carry a ladder around in your zergs, and pop over. So I don’t know how that could be implemented properly. We all know defenses generally are not going to stand up to zergs as is, more to hold them off and trim them down, by time until you get support. No defense I have ever seen in towers is manned by a full counter zerg. And the map allowance of players would not allow for enough to cover more than a few towers while hindering your entire offense.

This may be silly too , but what about something that could move players en mass faster, but with little offense? Something to help put ‘x’ players deployed into a backline as they do with parachute squads (doesn’t have to be in the air)? Like a portal site similar to mesmers with greater distance (cannot map into enemy keep/camps/etc)?

Or perhaps some form of moving a qty of supply with your commander? Maybe a two man mobile supply cart/container that can carry say 100 supply?

OR for the third bad idea (because they always come in threes), some form of idenifying or honig in on distant siege. Anti siege radar of sorts? may be too modern for gw2 time period?

Landscapes and battles always change, I would put it out to FA as well not to get comfortable. You know we love a good challenge, and if the cards fall and we don’t fair well. Then we work on those areas. I think we’ve passed the rebuilding, growth and development stages of setting a consistent base… now we are to work on the gaps we aim to close. Especially those big ones from the treb siege’s

Very true, but who needs tier 3? I mean seriously … we have the best level playing field and competition I’ve seen ever between our worlds.

- which means more parties for our servers … and maybe more organized fight clubs for our duels? Did we get one going this week?
- more time to get to know eachother here, while we bite away at our nails, and try to hide the bags under our eyes from this great rivalry
- and more time to help our overall brackets and worlds increase our skill together, learn new things and grow (but on battlefield, we’ll be shaking fists, chasing tail, and back at it again)
- the # one reason though. We wouldn’t want to build these lasting relations with eachother only to drop them the next night, bad class irl … and we’re full of charasmatic gentleswayers who know how to wooo a golem. Those other servers can’t shake it like we do I’m happy to play with this tier for a while longer…

… or is it safe to assume that we all are still eagerly hoping the scores are as close as they have been all week. I don’t know why, but it’s an addiction this week like none other.

It’s rough to see that the effort your guild puts in is not being reciprocated during off hours.

Looks like Darkhaven and HoD for FA. IIRC Darkhaven has an Oceanic crew that is not to be underestimated which also happens to be our weakest time slot.

I think it’s our NA PST players who stay up to 3am that do alot of the dirty work. We have a fun good oceanic team as well. But we are having issues when matched against oceanic servers as our pop drops quite a bit there as well. I wish we could have more oceanic coverage to early morning pst

At this point, when in a keep or tower as the enemy arrives, if I turn around and don’t see everyone on my team leap off the back wall or teleport out I’m in awe.

In some circumstances this is a strategy, usually when your deep in an area that will be highly flipped, and the only thing to care about is burning supply & resupply. No way would I want to try to hold Ogreswatch in EB (this week as an example) or an opposition’s natural tower in a BL during prime times. But I’m talking about the ones which should be considered worthy of the defensive effort. And even more so … the ones you own or have owned for some period of time that are going to face common trebs in prep of an advance or AH/AB EH/EB/etc

These to me see more worthy of setting up and securing
