I was basing that on the posts you noted about loathing pvp and not wanting to be forced to do play styles you don’t enjoy. The only alternative if you knock out pvp/wvw and feel like the PvE dailies that put you in a Level 80 zone for events is too time consuming/challenging is … by default, increasing the options.

By definition WvW is a form of player vs player (even though anet makes it feel more like pve), and the op wants an even split between PvE & (PvP/WvW)

Whenever I’m in WvW and see Keep capturer… I feel your pain. Generally means I have to do a PvE daily, which is against my playstyle.

I also like legendaries, think they are pretty aesthetically pleasing … was kittened when I found out I had to run (shudders) dungeons. Instead of coming to the forum and letting anet know what they are doing wrong (imho of course) … guess what I do.

Has one job … Does it.

But I mean, I totally see where you are coming from. World completion used to require WvW points of interest. Guess what the PvE community did? Got them removed, so there is hope for you yet.

Keep this thread on anets radar and maybe just maybe … they will give you more pve options (that you also may not like, and we will hear back on that sequel)

Welcome back.

Avoid the PvE community, they have gotten very lazy over the years. Remember when money was scarce and you had to really work for it? You must, crafting Bolt required charged lodestones didn’kitten

Aside from that … best tips I can offer – work on your personal story that you left off on, or jump into Heart of Thorns so you can get your glider. People still champ farm in Orr and Frostgorge Sound.

World boss timer always has groups running them. Just google gw2 dragon timer, pick your server and go to town.

Fractals got some work done.

Biggest shocker – price of leather … is ridiculous. Used to be the cheapest commodity that you couldn’t even sell for on the tp, now the most sought after.

How about instead of voting your opinion on these future polls yet to be published, people make suggestions on how to better word those polls to actually get answers that will help ANET better please the player base?

I was going to say something similar, a lot of yes/no answers … but isn’t the thread about polls that are upcoming, therefore any answers provided in this thread are irrelevant?

Glad to see more polls coming, will be sure to vote down the mixed BL. The rest is of little interest.

This world we live in, I tell you… you can’t do a thing without offending someone or some group. Games are games, and meant to be fun. I guess those people on the other side of the world must hate when the aviator box comes out too. Just ridiculous. If I had to go through an ordeal or traumatizing event, it’s not a games fault for having quirky little things in it.

I guess if they released those crazy chickens in wayfarer foothill from beta, we might offend some animal rights protection group as well.

Cannot cater to personal opinions, as players whether young or old are trivial and unique. Must cater to masses. One does not speak for masses (on either side of this coin) However, I still believe the split should be 50/50 and as it stands, it’s 8:5 versus 8:8

If you still do not like the choices, you can always make the choice to starve (get no daily).

They really should not cater to complainers. Anet used to do things in game that were fun and exciting. Anyone from the BWE’s knows what I’m talking about. Even the GW1 beta’s were hilarious. I would love to see more of that in the game. I vaguely remember one april fools they promoted a combat soldier profession. Of course it was a joke, but still was funny.

My characters printed on a color 3D printer and logo items with images of my characters. It’s all about me.

This is a great idea. Imagine how popular it would be if Anet was at PAX Prime and you could get a 3d printout of your character.

Hexinx.1872

Okay – hypothetical.

Convenience items I would consider paying a VIP sub for

1.) 4-5 shared inventory slots for characters – where I’d equip the gem store harvesting tools, a perma bank access and bl salvage, etc

2.) Free waypoints, across all the game, both core + HoT

3.) Ability to change character name without paying 800 gems

4.) Ability to change character hair style, face, race – aesthetic features (will never happen, how would you account for an asura story line on a charr character)

5.) Open access to beta incoming content (example… if they are finishing up Ring of Fire, or whatever that island is called) we’d get open access to open beta events pre-release.

I’d pay for convenience, as I work full time and raise a family who loves this game. I’d pay for convenience. Currently to get all the above it would cost me roughly 8000 gems per account, for 1 name change, 1 self style kit, way points would still cost me, and I’d get no access to beta’s.

I’d uninstall the accounts from all 3 family members. It’d be time to look at a new company. Changing the basis of the model, even if only optional is silly and goes against the core philosophy the company based the game on.

If you want a monthly subscription … Buy gems, when you want. If you want to contribute more to the company, buy merchandise. Most ‘conveniences’ are already based on gem purchases, and are already optional.

When I like something they make, then I’ll pull out the ol credit card willingly and pick up gems. And if I’m buying gems, I’d usually want the best bang for the buck so I get the 4000 gem pack.

Is this post supposed to be targeted at people without credit cards or something?

Tips for making gold in the world map?

in Players Helping Players

Hexinx.1872

Doing the daily is always worth it imho. 15-20 minutes to make 2g per day. I also like to hit the ancient wood nodes up, and coral in orr. That always nets me another couple gold.

Honestly play what you enjoy. Champ train, world boss, wvw, you name it. pick your poison for your pastime.

Oh and you need the ectos for accessories in wvw as well. just the rings and amulet which run on badges + laurels

Suggestion for that could be done/fixed

You’d have to be out of combat for the equip though, but I like the idea. Unfortunately if they put in a mechanic like that (the farming one) it would deter from people getting the gemstore permanent ones. I think Anet likes the inconvenience of having to buy more and equip more if your not going with a permanent one. Kinda funnels players to ‘want’ that convenience available through gems.

As a farmer who does not have the gems to buy those permanent ones yet, I fully support making it easier to farm. Small scale improvement which just make the game more enjoyable overall.

Guild wars vs WvW

in WvW

Posted by: Hexinx.1872

Hexinx.1872

How many times do people try to relate Guildwars name to Guild versus Guild. Guildwars is lore based on past events. https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars

… and GvG in gw1 was legit.

This modern day 15-20 person blob that never splits and just rams into each other … is not legit. It’s the outcome of dropping the monk, and trying to make up for it with sheer numbers.

Quantity (gw2 gvg) versus Quality (gw1 gvg)… two different styles. Every time I watch GvG in this game I think how easy people got it.

The closest thing I’ve seen to legit GvG is stronghold with 3 lanes, and the goal to kill the lord. No flag running required.

….
I know, you were mentioning WvW achievements, but the NPC part reminded me of the struggle I had doing maps.

Absolutely. But most dailies do not force players to cross the entire map to complete, as the old map completion required (on all borderlands). That was a tough time for casual players who required map completion back then. Especially if you needed the green keep vista in EB, and were not one of the top servers. Now to make it more casual, they took out that requirement altogether.

With dailies however, they tend to be based around your starting area… typical dailies are … kill a sentry, or kill a yak, or kill 5 guards, or capture 2 camps. All of these are based around the corner of your starting area, and while you may run into another enemy player, most days I have done it – I see a friendly who is also doing their daily. Of course, this is off putting for those who won’t even enter the zone. I understand that, just wanted to note that it is not nearly as time consuming or challenging as map completion was for the average casual.

I think Anet could then compromise and give 50/50 split between pve and pvp. Whether or not players chose to do them is there own prerogative.

Lol… well I don’t know what else I could do to hurt someone in a melee battle with a pistol.

I was going to add point blank shot – but noticed that’s a ranger skill already.

(inc bad idea two) what if the pistol was floating around like those guardian skills – and the skills targetted the melee area around the caster?

It’s evenly balanced – in fact weighted heavier to PvE

13 accessible dailys.

Gametype 1 WvW – 4 daily options

Gametype 2 – sPvP – 4 options

Gametype 3 – PvE – 5 options

And yes, whether you like it or not, sPvP and WvW are two different game modes. One is balance based, one is hybrid PvE open world PvP fighting. For the record, the WvW achievements are more geared towards fighting npc’s than actual players.

Trying to follow the train of thought here. So – the opposite of a hammer rev … you have a melee pistol that CANNOT do ranged attacks.

What skills could you see this weapon doing?

Maybe Pistol whip? Pistol whip v2? Throw pistol?

If we can get some sort of skill set involved I can feel more comfortable thinking outside the box and trying to add to the convo.

WvW big spender – spending 25 whole badges – takes place in your starting waypoint, protected by legendary defenders where no pvp can take place. Takes about 10 seconds.

Gathering is always a daily, a vista viewer is always a daily …

You ALREADY get a free reward for logging in, and you want to make the daily easier than it already is. Daily generally take less than 15 minutes to complete fully.

It’s attitudes like that “silver platter nose in the air” that will be the downfall of the economy. You have to work for your money, this is a common practice that humans have been doing for centuries.

Absolutely agree ~ on my other account … back in the day crafting was a tool for powerleveling alts – so looking at the character select screen and seeing everyone with almost all crafting, but only caring which one can say make the ascended items or the clay pot etc – I would love to see the crafting level next to the name – or remove it all together
