If you want a stable successful server, focus on growing your native population the way BG has over the years.

Every server does try to grow a stable population over the years. Except for maybe 2 periods I can think of which are the Kain train from ages ago, and the DB pushes. Even then, they still have a core who try to bring in more stable success to there game.

The big difference is not in those communities (they do periodically buy guilds, but that’s not the biggest issue). It’s BG being at the helm, was the attractive place for any player to go to. The average joe who wants to win and likely only pay to move once in their game career… will choose by default BG. Because they see potential longevity, and wins. Wins feel good man, until it gets boring. Then they stop playing… and more come. Do this for 4 years and you have BG today.

I would assume the account total (including inactives) would look something like this across the top 6 (these are just theoretical)

BG – 300,000
Mags – 100,000
TC – 100,000
FA – 70,000
JQ – 100,000
SBI – 60,000

Actively … most can pull numbers to queue ebg, and home bl nightly… then home bl becomes t3, and everyone queues ebg only.

If some new shiny came into play in WvW, it wouldn’t even be a competition…. BG hands down will have more players than they would know what to do with all the time, and face issues like guild members not getting into maps… and not playing reset night to let the fair weathers get there shinies. But Sunday – wednesday they would handily lock down the W. It always happens, not because of the communities of the game (while they have a piece, it’s a small part), it’s the average joe’s who flocked over the course of 4 years which actually contribute the most.

Sorry i must have deleted that quote line … and links have had more activity all around, but some players who do not like more activity are the only ones opposed to it. just like some players who like it, you will always have some who do not, because they enjoyed a different style of play.

Build gates through dirt… t4 gates/ immune+perma reflect. Okay maybe not.

I think many professions mechanics like this. Not directly like CoR, but guard’s broomstick sweeps through gates… pretty sure some of those necro marks get through too. While CoR is a longer range, it is narrow.

If I were to make a guess, i would assume Arc Divider also reaches through gates too.

Downstate is somewhat useless in large fights too… it’s so random, sometimes it takes a while to drain, even in red circles…. other times your bar blows up like a flat tire… in an attempt to down any who try to rez. Only time I’ve actually enjoyed the mechanic is when your in smaller scale.

^^ This, with the new stats. It should be an option at the onset of any new stat combo’s. Happy we have the proof’s → recipe’s avenue, but would be nice to be able to buy rings/amulet’s + accessories under the new stats, on time.

The difference is always in the full week. It shows which servers have players who play more than the weekend alone. The significant scoring gaps always occur between Monday – Wednesday. Thursdays always a right off, but matches are often secured well before that.

I forgot about that yb garri fight. Yeah … I was watching YB so much I never noticed JQ rolling up behind, I got trampled (head was definitely not on a swivel – only realised after, all 3 servers where in). But yeah so there it is … all variations of servers joining forces, only to wreck each other whenever one feels.

I think it went all avenues this weekend. Started out with some normal 1v1v1 play… JQ fatness just too much for anyone, YB + TC team JQ, JQ + YB team TC to break t3 smc… only ones I never seen team up yet is JQ + TC, I think in part this is because both groups are enjoying fighting each other. Frustrating at times, but overall was an enjoyable weekend.

Pretty sure JQ YB + TC all going to have links … mags … unsure, but wouldn’t be surprised. If it takes Mags + link to be on even keel with bg, and Anet unlinks Mags … it’s going to be a stomping from BG (or casual play on/off as required for 2 months. Either way have a good reset night everyone.

I think the frog camp should get sick of the stupid players every once in awhile. 400 vet frogs and 10 champions should throw siege and start taking the map. Those boring hours when nothing is happening…

I think that would be a great April Fool’s style gig/event.

OP: I only like #3 because i enjoyed the ambience / varying weather in ff11. No game has come close to provide that kinda feel for quite some time for me.

The rest, I don’t feel are worth implementing or investigating. Changes alot of things like combat and movement mechanics, character data /inputs, adds more mandatory requirements … I understand the make it more real …. but this isn’t that game.

Small tip… make sure regardless of commander… part of your WvW night you check off your dailies. Some require a large force/zerg to achieve like keep capture (reward 20), others often get overlooked like monuments (cap bloodlust node), sentries (often commanders ask for 1 or 2 to clear on voice comms while zerg sits back to not get tagged), defense – i forget what its called, but repair an objective under attack. You should easily clear 100 a night with dailies and running with the zerg.

Tags at 300G are not feasible to the entire population, especially players who have started playing since HoT and had to dump money on other things like ascended armor/weapons etc. Everyone saying tag up yourself bought it when it was 100G… and now just don’t lead. I’d rather have a bad commander get some experience under his wings by going through the ropes (and pain of learning engagements, positioning, etc) than no tag at all on a map. Personally I may not be affected, but I see the idles when tags leave maps. Tags promote play, good tags queue maps… only way to get gud is by starting to tag. Make tags reasonable again. Not everyone has 1000G sitting around. The gate is too steep, and in its present state only promotes dependencies on others. Sure you can go solo around, but you’ll accomplish much less, and it takes much longer, than you can with a coordinated tag and a handful of players. You may not be able to take on huge forces or even forces if your not experienced… but you can pull the guys who sit waiting to join in and do something while they wait. Drop the price back to normal, promote others to tag up. Never understood why so many people make brass assumptions about the player base and only assume everyone is at there level or experience.

Commander training is a server and guild decision, I’d love to see a giant thread built on these forums where ‘good commanders’ provide insight and tactics and ideas (I believe overall posts like that build stronger playerbase overall) but it would just get washed away in the trivial postings about hacking, balance, lag, blobbing, with the dash of videos shared.

Good rezzer’s are hard to find man. Leave as is, just penalize getting downed and rally off others to a time limit(best suggestion to date).

I mean I often look and hear a call out on TS … ‘single downed… still single downed… come on guys this isn’t funny… … … doubled… I hate you guys.’ Zergs … live up to their … standard more often than not when it comes to helping allies. Most zerglings too slow, or flat out don’t care and think someone else will do it.

While others seem quick to the ball (I find smaller 4-5 man teams roaming are generally better at it ressing than zerglings).

I just say it’s still too long. I’m not against the idea, in fact more options for proofs of heroics is great. Once all your characters are maxed with max elite specs… there is literally very little to buy (provisioner + food options and such).

I like the limiting it … but internally have a fear that adding more calculations (a countdown timer per character) onto and already bogged system will just hurt game play in the long run.

But I don’t have any better offer… sorry, trying to think of something/happy median between what exists today and no downed state. (cause that effectively would also cause much kickback and flack)

Excluding hero points … there are 1932 remaining items. Let’s just say it’s a 1 for 1…

At 6-9 proofs per rank … this would take an equivalent of 215-322 ranks to complete. I’m not sure how fast each rank takes, but let’s just say it’s 1 hour per rank (no boosts) … thats a lot more time invested to complete. When I say a lot, I mean a lot considering it takes roughly 40-60 hours casually to complete current pve map completion (fastest I’ve seen is 19 hours). It’s approx 5 times as long under this wvw optional method, even if you cut it with boosts, it’s still going to take roughly 100-150 hours of constant wxp rank farming.

I guess that’s okay if you play 8+ hours a day every day of the week. You can have it done in a month. But for people who play 4 hours a night, it would take a few months.

I like the idea of getting access to it, but think the solution has to be ironed out a bit. And at the same time … to appease the pve playerbase … they would need alternate access to the GoB. As the game progresses through content, it is very boring going for map completion in dead zones.

I’m not going through every response… but just wanted to say the vids were too long for me. I DID enjoy them, in fact, i give you props for using unique music in vid 1. I’ll watch more later, but was fun to see.

Thief high access to stealth is kinda the point. Ghost thief thread kinda gave that away… should we get rid of war access to weapons? Maybe remove swapping elements from eles? Who cares, just a game.

Thanks for sharing videos… nice break every now and then. You got a lot of patience too.

People really hate running back to the fight. It’s why EBG best map, shortest run back… now… the run in EBG must be too far, so just use super never gonna die or get pinned hack… then you never have to leave zerg again. I’d also recomend the never run out of food and oil hack + infinite inventory hacks… all are a must for optimal farming.

- tactivators (were the first wtf??? when i came back)
- smc has stealth water at high tiers
- the destructible wall at wildcreek is now facing the middle lane (moved opposite sides)
- run an elite spec unless your playing guard (even then, it’s still an option)
- runes of durability are a fan fav unless running a duel or roamer build
- boon duration is through the roof

Playstyles … still very much the same. Groups zerg eachother, small groups pick stragglers, there is a /team chat now that crosses all BL’s for scouting purposes

My personal favourite update – Desert. Added a new hay bale to the southeast side of the Desert borderlands.

I like the idea. To be honest, it’s a QoL feature that would actually promote more play. There are a bunch of casuals on all servers that would jump in knowing there are commanders out there. Currently most people just check homeBL or EBG and pop out if no leadership.

Also, I think commanders who actively have large squads and contribute to skirmish warscores and overall victory points should get a healthy superior siege reward at the end of each week. Just cause there should be some additional incentives for those who lead to continue to do so, while promoting others to tag up and lighten the load. There are a lot of tags out there who could contribute more to there server, but don’t because they are too shy or lack incentive. It costs a lot of money to lead groups, it shouldn’t… it should at least be some sort of balance so it’s not a net loss to lead.

Spies… gotta deal with them in any way shape or form. If some guy wants to spy in LA and listen, at least they are not taking up a spot in queue. Don’t let spies dictate your play. Just play through them. Each person has there own way to achieve fun, some people are a little demented and choose spying as there fun, who cares. Just go play through it knowing you’ve got fans.

I’m not actually opposed to this. I think it’s pretty well known that having too many hands in the cookie jar caused a blurred vision and there never was any real consistency shown across the years. It’s definitely been an after thought. It kinda makes me feel they could have succeeded better if they just did there own thing from the beginning. Kind of.

I’d love player input into that vision and some ability to help as a community to contribute to make it great, but players overall have shown they will just take what is given and find ways to take advantage of it for personal gain. We all want many things, whats important to one may not be important to another. As a company, it’s Anet job to define and set a single vision for what they expect of WvW. And if it differs from what players want, it’s not a bad thing. This is how some companies and competitors are born. If they miss the mark, they miss it under there own direction and own vision. Another rises, and makes what was wanted to those like minded.

To be honest, the state of WvW just lacked consistent vision and support, and instead allowed for players and communities to control the outcomes. I think Anet took in feedback (way too late) from a very niche market who were unable to properly communicate some ideas that have been shared over the years. Instead only hearing and pushing for things that might make it interesting to a wider audience of players overall from the game. And we got … this result.

The market saw a potential which Anet didn’t exploit soon enough…. and eventually we’ll see a bigger better scope of games to chose from which may very well hit the nail on the head of what has been suggested for years.

Is cannon fire considered physical damage? Is toughness considered on the damage reduction at all? Seems they are very strong. Also is there anyway to turn the cannon? Saw some poorly placed cannons but when I jumped on them, they just had 3 skills which shot forward. I know I must be doing it wrong

I think bannering the lord is a crutch… while it WAS fun (I mained a hammerstun war for STUN for the first 2 years) I just can’t see this being a good idea. With the Lord’s health improvement and break bars, I don’t think giving him a on demand rez is beneficial.

My definition of it being fun is more in terms of trolling. It’s not a healthy move but that’s just my humble opinion.

What are you talking about Cerby … I dropped 1200 badges for 100 cata prints, bought 250 wood and ore, and bought 2 of those books. It cost me a total of about 5g for 50 sup rams? Pretty sure if I buy 50 on the TP flat out it’s around 10-12g depending on the day and price.

I’m just saying thank god I don’t have to make them one at a time. Because that was not very good design for a commodity that you go through very fast.

For the record, badges, useless currency can be used now. Spirit shards… are overflowing in abundance. No matter how many I spend, in a week I always seem to be floating around 150-200. Wasting my time… to make those 50 it cost me 2 mystic forge attempts, what’s that about 10 seconds? Sure going to miss those 10 seconds of my life.

So went to make some siege for my guild today and noticed this new handy thing on Miyani’s list. Searched it up… looked cool, gave it a try… worked like a charm.

Hands down, this has to be one of the best unsung hero moves you have done recently. From everyone who won’t post about but creates siege for the guild, the server or commander’s on there server …

A HUGE THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

This is a quality of life add, that flew right in under the radar and was openly welcomed. I will definitely have a toast tomorrow for job well done.

It’s a pretty safe bet to say Mags will get unlinked this round. I’m not sure how Yak’s will play. While they have made there ascent back to t1, they still don’t seem to be able to compete with the 2 top dogs. They may retain a link. I’d also say it may be a safe bet that JQ may open briefly if Anet decides t2 servers are going to have a potential link, and it is possible JQ receives a link. This possibly would put JQ in contention with YB’s position. TC may or may not have a link. Or may get swapped links. i think that depends on whether or not YB retains a link and JQ receives a link.

One things for certain, DB will receive likely multiple links.

I have a feeling, links will be changing in NA to accomodate this. Across all tiers. It’s not really logical to limit the changes to what is suspected, as that would give DB maybe 1 link, and JQ 1 link, but who loses the second link if YB retains theirs?

JQ has a better chance running with TW + HzH from reset and full week … the note was the fact that most of TW transferred mid week, some never made the cut over in time yet. You act like this will have little impact, but maybe your unfamiliar with TW? They are skilled whether any will admit it or not, and will have an impact, whether any admit it or not. Either side assuming prior to seeing how a full week plays out is like us talking about which airline is better before the take off. TC may still win, JQ may win… but to discredit the impact they will make either means you have no idea what your talking about, or you refuse to understand others opinions. And yes, I can have an opinion playing against them for many years and with them in recent months.

Roamers use shield… my war still use GS + sword or axe + shield … I never change it unless I don’t want to waste time and need more mobility, where I toss my warhorn in just temp in place of shield.

wtf you talking about no warrior use a shield. It’s a standard build for any roamer and has been for years. Like saying no guard use a staff.

Rather have the ability to buy gems at retail price when I want, than pay for a optional fee for a reduction on gem fees. Anytime monthly fee’s come to play, I feel the need to force play to get my money’s worth, and I usually get burnt within a month or two.

At least in the current form, I feel when I make a purchase, I feel good about supporting the company and helping speed up (whatever progression/unlocks). Generally I feel good with that deal, while the other I would feel like a gym membership, that never really gets used enough. Then I just use my gym in my complex, because I can do it when I want, without that feeling of being forced to get my money’s worth.

I am actually gonna vote YES for all the bad decisions from now on since i have access to many accounts and friends who dont play anymore but can still log in and vote for it. They dont care about what the forums ask, each forum wvw, professions and pvp are asking for years now reasonable new/fixed/balanced changes and they couldn t care less. So i agree with the vote for the wrong change make it die as fast as possible and maybe something will change , if not well there are many other games out there.

Well if WvW get trashed, we can always trash the AB meta’s… it only takes one to scout each meta / map , to ruin a full day of farming.

So I know we have cannons on third floor smc, but if I place a deployable cannon, would i be able to hit enemies coming out of there keep? The range seems like it would reach.

PvE easy mode… most mobs you fight even in downed state you can kill one and get back up. In WvW though, you get downed, you just sit there looking like a fool, and basically provide the enemy a target where to AoE to see how many of their friends you can down while they try to rez him.

If you get downed once, no biggie, but if you go down a second time within 5-10 seconds, you should be doubled.
