That’s basically obsidian sanctum … although for some reason they made it down the tunnel a ways. A gladiator pit. It could be much more useful if implemented a little more accessible and people had a reason to go in there. people like stats, our current leaderboards are … okay, wish Anet would wave a magic wand and come up with something for smaller teams/matches or support those guild initiatives. The gladiator pit could be or mean something. But as it is… its just an empty uninviting pit that provides little value to player, guild, server, or game.

On the balli point – That’s the purpose the balli’s are made for though. It even says it.

Only way i ever see breaking the large ball up into smaller balls … (and this will never happen) is implementing some system that counts the players in any given range, and once you hit say 20 or 25 so squads are still viable, anyone else who come too close gets a debuff /degen like torment with a visual queue so it’s obvious, only on the additional people and squad gets priority so when players die and run back, randoms can’t just take there spot.

The reason this won’t happen is because you’d basically have to run heavy on calculations actively, added to an already encumbered system.

I know some people also say … just remove the AoE cap … but then you would see zergs of AoE dmg dealers running the show and we’d be in the same spot.

Just my thoughts on that topic. Also on the note of your siege being wiped by ‘x’ just move it out of range and render that 1 defender useless. Cata/treb towers and keeps.

For some reason I feel this would promote more ktraining than anything else. One of the most rewarding types of fights, is taking a t3 objective that is heavily sieged defended by equal numbers (who poke out and in), followed by a battle inside. Once you cap it, it feels good.

I don’t see this promoting players to jump down and hit others, rather just standing and watching until they have equal numbers, which often they may not… and objectives would be more like paper, more susceptible to ktraining.

Also, there is a trait line that provides siege invulnerability … but it only last for i think 4 seconds or so. (Supply Master: 5 : Deployed siege sites are invulnerable for a short duration)

Thanks … and f yeah … way to TC. While it’s embarrassing that DB+ is getting the win with a measly 0.70 kd ratio … I’m proud to lose when our KD ratio is at 1.20 i think that is even an improvement over last week. Our ppt game is well … likely the crapiest, but who cares, crap gets tired time and time again.

phantom you just scratch an itch I’ve always hoped they would implement (but never will)

Hall of Heroes – much based around death match, with a few capture the flag style rounds mixed in, very much like gw1’s system. Multiple team based maps (up to 1v1v1v1 – i always thought that last map should have been a 4 way not a threeway), like it was narrowing the field down as you get closer to the glory. (*anyway this won’t happen because its a new game mode, and there is not enough resources)

Failing that:

A leaderboard (weekly stats only/ not cumulative over multiple weeks) with the following stats – (Region filter) Name, Server, Kills, deaths, KD ratio, hours played, Kills per hour average, deaths per hour average, WXP (fluff or some means of providing intel on objective captures participated in), another metric on means of providing objective defense participation’s, ranks gained, supplies used in siege, supplies used on walls/gates… and some useless combined metric of all the above that would give your WvW score for the week, this would be good, while offering fight based players the stats they want, AND people who are avid defenders or objective capturers points/participation. I don’t know what else from the top of my head. All sortable by the column you want.

This could show some level of skill for the guys wanting personal KD ratios, as well as players who are on the maps a lot through out the week, but failing to participate in really anything. Here is where you can find people that may be contributing to the queues. Like if i logged into a map, walked away from pc, got refill, went to bathroom, hit a button, went out for a smoke, came back hit a button.. repeated that for an hour … my leader board stat should show my poor performance. Likewise I read some guy went 100-1 KD ratio, it would be amazing.

Personally speaking, a guild could really use these stats to gage and help there players improve. Likewise they can also head hunt for the type of player that fits there guild.

Most days i’d rather be driving down the road in a semi, you know just in case I run into something. It’s big, it’s tough, and it will wreck everything along the way…

I encountered some duelers in EB last night. I didn’t realize what they were doing at first, as they were on the NE side of smc up against the clifffs…..being red, I started plugging at them with siege. Even hollered on map chat about it.

I actually think that’s not a good spot for dueling, although it has come to be known as the area duelers often go to. Only reason I say that … is it’s a major route for green to come back, especially when they own SMC. Maybe it’s only an issue in the upper tiers, but I often see that tags run from say durios up along that side to ogrewatch or as a short cut through to anz even.

Personally speaking most of the time when I see a couple enemies up there …. I sort of leave them be unless they fire off a shot when I run by. Only because of the common knowledge about that area being a central point for duelers, and I believe in NA anyway that propagated in large part from the HATS guild long ago.

But you will almost always see some of the zerg peel off and chase them down, by nature. I’ve always wondered why duelers never used the outskirts of one of the three home zones, or say, the area where the lizards are south of the frogs at the hero point. I don’t think anyone really goes in there.

And yes, of course … /obsidian sanctum … but it’s often deserted so they flock to a map with people on it.

The downed state is … unique. I used to like the /resign to help speedup GvG’s in gw1 … especially if say … my guild who may have been around 200-400 (topped at 24 briefly) but randomly rolled up and got say War Machine … fought em once…. noticed a huge difference in the amount of work they put into there cohesion and tactics… match lasted all of 5 minutes or so with most having -45…. anytime we rolled them after … we wouldn’t even get out the gate, just /resign to find a more even ranked team to fight. I imagine when a top 6 gets a rank 200+ its often met the same, and tbh they probably wanted to play against other top 50 teams versus wasting there time.

I don’t see how a /resign would do any good though in gw2, it’s easy to bleed out… takes all of 10 seconds.

Let me put it this way, if a griefer wants to grief … they will accomplish that. If gw2 added a /resign … they will still find you and grief you again. With or without that ability. It literally adds nothing to the game.

Why should someone who has been playing longer get more say? That’s not equal at all. Just because they karmatrained for a couple months doesn’t mean they actally know what is good for the game, and in fact they will probably only want changes that facilitate karmatraining and don’t actually help roamers or other people in WvW, or the game mode itself.

I don’t understand why a few people in this community seem to struggle with the concept that every player’s voice should count the same.

You should have quoted the context I placed my suggestion to as the target audience. The one saying r1000 base, everyone else doesn’t matter. My suggestion is to include more player votes, and while the weighting was theoretical. Personally the account i play on right now is just shy of r100 and many would say no I shouldn’t be entitled to a vote, yet I play WvW pretty much 4 hours a night because I enjoy the combat system. I have been a player of gw2 since the 3 day headstart and bwe1, and supported anet through gw1 since open betas. I don’t think any of that matters though.

So don’t get worked up over it, just spitballing with someone who felt opposed. #allvotesmatter lol

So as a player who plays 4 hours a night, on my newer account, i get about 5 ranks a day… that would mean what 200 days without a night off? Pretty sure I’d be divorced by then.

So I wouldn’t get to vote until roughly 1 year after starting to play WvW… sounds fair o.O … and skillwise I’m better than a lot of gold players who just got that rank from ktraining BL’s.

I agree there has to be a better method as rank 10 is too low, but gating players behind year long wait is unreasonable.

Perhaps something like weighting the votes based on rank range to mean something more … like a r100 would weigh in at 1, while a r1000 would weigh in at 1.5 or even better … bronze ‘fill in the blank’ counts as 1 point, silver 2, gold 3, and so on. Wouldn’t that be more inclusive while providing the cranky vets their highly sought after earned respect as the know it all (yes i have played since launch, but I play primarily on my new account now and have little plans on changing that. I should still be entitled to a vote)

What I see is… condi’s aren’t ridiculous when you have condi builds built for this purpose. They have a job of slapping players down with condi’s … but no one wants to play a direct counter, full condi removal … because that’s just boring. Why would one player get to play offence while another is built solely for surviving those condi’s.

The problem occurs when … you take that one person, and have 10+ others who all have some form of condi/CC and your bar all of a sudden looks like it’s the next advertisement for a hazmat video. Even in 10v10 or 20v20 … if your targeted by 1 or 2 groups … your gonna blow all your invulnerables/condi removals … only to have them reapplied seconds later. The struggle is real.

This will make the game mode less competitive imo & I hope this doesn’t happen but it seems like it is…

It was voted to have 2 ABL + 1 DBL offering the option to go to the map you want … it passed a 75% vote. I don’t see your point at all, why would you not offer the option of giving groups who prefer to play on maps they enjoy?

Yeah , I’m sorry about the hijack on the OP thread … pretty sure he meant QQ as in griefing.

I’ve actually enjoyed the QQ guys sometimes… I’m not a great roamer by any means and I’m far too lazy to reset my comp before or during guild runs… but every now and then when I see a map chat about them sniping people en route by spawn or keep locations I’ll give it a go.

I fought on of the engi’s who was literally like an impossble to down, I’d get him to like 10%, he’d invis, lay condis on me and just kinda regen, I couldn’t figure it out. Why was that last 10% so darn hard to finish off… eventually through attrition his condi’s got the better of me, but it was a good battle nonetheless.

Most times when I see a small pack of them, whether it’s only 3 or so (usually a thief, mes, and I think i see a beserker often running with them) I know better than to bite off more than I can chew, but I like to test my skill level against a group like them because I find they are good at what they do.

Every server has there groups/teams that do this. Sometimes testing out your grit is a good way to try to improve your play. But I can’t spend enough time on this aspect, especially when guild runs occur. I have to make more time in this area of WvW because I’d really like to improve my personal skill level.

EDIT: Oh speaking of which – wanted to give credit to the group of 5 or so BG that were between ogrewatch and keep … your spike was on point. We only had two watching but that’s the first time I literally exploded to downed state before a skill could trigger. I think one of them was a KnF (if that rings a bell) – the guys that later went to defend mendons? May as well give props where credit is due.

That was a very well written draft that communicated a good way to improve the squad capabilities, as well as improve the sub groups ability to stick closer together. One thing I find annoying, even in a 15 man run … is everyone is blue… so trying to find the exact location of my party members during the battle is more or less … ‘well they all better be on the pin and not squirreling’

I think a change like this could actually improve squads to a point where squads would be more willing to break off ‘group 2 go umber, group 4 go sentry and watch for inc, the rest on durios’ …

I know it would also still help large groups, but I’ve always found it annoying that i can’t see my party members during fights. I can see there health bars dropping when say someone gets focused, and I want to support them or close in for a quick res, but with the current system, the only one who really benefits is the commander.

I think it would also improve the overall skill level of players over time as they get used to working as a party/team within a squad instead of everything at pin and if your 15 feet off you SoL. Sometimes that guy who is 15 feet off is in desperate need of a water or heal, or prot for some sustain NOT when the commander needs it.

I’ve been a victim to this once from a JQ thief… once I figured out that was his intention … I just choose to bleed out. No issues with someone who chooses to play that way, but not my style personally. I was on a shoutheal war at the time and had very little luck in the engagement. kitten happens.

In that scenario, wouldn’t a server just wait until the treasury is at max level/capacity before they take it out? Not like you’d waste your looting on a small chest, when you can just hold off on the objective and wait till you max the rewards from your loot multiplier. I love the idea btw … m mind is already trying to take advantage of it.

Or is just some photoshopped item? I wouldn’t call the server itself all out either. Seen speedhackers from all servrs, flyhackers who magically float around, I just report em and be done with it.

And from my experience, Mags has always had some tough breeds since the days of VR. If some people from the server have stooped to hacking, that’s bottom feeding low.

Anet wil figure it out, eventually whether there is truth to the matter or not. BTW how do they know when Anet jumps on the same map? The anet employee can go without their icon and its still legit.

Yes you are, love seeing you guys running. it’s my side guild … and I was toying with the idea to build it up to base minimum so I can put a +5 on camps and such whenever a commander or driver calls for it. Most primary guilds already have claims running, but every now and then i hear it in comms. Very helpful advice.

Give the dolyaks superspeed and knockbacks to boot. It’d be funny seeing the dolyaks chasing a guy, with say the bola’s melee npc’s, while some of the the npc’s stayed away/ ranging.

- A party should be able to help their server
- A guild should be able to help their server
- A squad should be able to help their server

All these guys play WvW. None are superior to the other. None should be forced to play in anyway they choose not to. The only time that even comes to play… is in guild recruitment. You can say ‘no, sry your a lazy rallybot, application denied’ to recruit and play with those guys you want to be the hard core composition of your squad.

It’s funny because WvW was were the poor people played for years, and we wanted something to help offset some of the costs of the upgrades. What was Anet (eventual) response? Remove the coin costs of upgrading keeps, load there bags with junk.

Actually, I am on TC and fight every night for roughly 4 hours against other groups around our size, of course its a thumb in the air guess but we know when we bite off more than we can chew. I have never once used a disabler, I don’t even know how to operate half the new crap like shield gens – I kinda avoid them like the plague. I just log in, jump on with my guild and we go fight whatever we find. But some others do like that stuff, and I’m not gonna knock them for playing how they want to play.

To give a general idea … last night DB was attempting to take a WP bay, what did they do? Pop up on the wurm gate hill and build 2 trebs and 2 shield gens, sat and waited. does that mean DB bunch of siege humpers? No. I sat down and skirmished the other skirmishers while the mass just afk’d. Had to kill time until our guild raid anyways. When our raid started, we went to EBG, had some good battles, with DB. Went over to poke BG at overwatch and there keep…. what did they do? Sat on siege, or ran back to the portal. Does that class BG as siege humpers? No. A while later, eventually there was a group who decided to fight us, and we made a positioning error and got sandwiched. Sometimes that happens, no skin off our backs.

The problem here, is the atypical individual who stereotypes servers based on the actions of say scouts … is what? Prejudice? Doesn’t seem to fit. I’ve battled BG for a long time now and still to this day they have as many people who hop on siege and use disablers as the rest. It’s really a moot point.

I’ve played against YB as well, I only started seeing them retreat like BG’s ppt’ers do in recent months when they were going down hill. if we wanted to find a YB group to fight, we used to be able to. I could also attempt to attribute that to more of their commanders being more the RTS style of play, but then I’d be no better than you. I prefer to just find groups around our size and fight with my guild.

A few nights ago, DB had Hills WP on our BL, we had to break it. Both groups had equal numbers, the hills had 1100 supply? Did we expect them to just jump out and fight us and let it flip? No, we knew it was going to be a long battle, where by the end they successfully used all 1100 supply before we were able to flip it. I don’t call them siege humpers for trying to protect there WP, I give them props for making it a gruelling and tough challenge.

We tend to stay away from objectives unless there is something to fight there, but not everyone plays like you or me. Some people like to capture, upgrade, and defend a tower and scout or whatever. All the power to them. This game has many varieties of play styles in WvW. Limiting it to one sole purpose will never happen. But that doesn’t mean we can’t go out and find our fights, or play the way we prefer to. Some days it may take more time or effort to find the battles, other days the battles are plentiful.

Doesn’t removing siege disablers actually promote ktraining? I’m trying to understand both sides of the argument here, but I see no way which removing siege disablers promotes fights.

If you really wanted to fight, you’d just contest it, drop some fluff siege which you don’t really care about and park your fight group between bay and garri licking your lips. Who gives a kitten about what the 1 guy in the keep is doing because that’s not your objective if you actually care about fights.

You only take objectives once you’ve wiped the opponents a few times and they cower back a bit anyway. I don’t know … maybe that;s just me but we tend to poke the bear until we get the fight. In fact, we often get people in voice comms complaining that we aren’t ppt’ing hard enough (even though we are clear about our objective being to go find groups around our size and fight, win some lose some – don’t care).

Disablers aren’t used by even matched groups, it’s only ever a scout or sentry who is literally volunteering to keep an eye out for those larger forces. Punishing the little guy who offers to help out the many (server) is just moot. Swords don’t go up for what 30 seconds after an objective is hit, if your server only has 40 players, you need eyes and ears to find/follow enemies.

If you want to get rid of sentries, then you may as well get rid of upgrades, and your basically opening the door to ktrains.

Can someone please explain it a little better, the above posts supporting to get rid of the disablers all have a undertone which supports ktraining. Which is weird because i think some of the above posters are in fact from fight guilds.

Also … removing the disablers basically says if you are on a server with little people, don’t even bother coming into WvW because you won’t be able to help.

I don’t know, are there map blobs that actually sit in towers and not actually fight enemies? My experience has always shown me otherwise on every server i have ever been on, and the only time I ever used siege as the first option of defense was when we had maybe 5 guys defending a keep against an OCX/SEA blob of 50. Yes, we will lose the objective, but at least we are able to get a few more ticks out of it before letting the ktrain scratch face on door. And those 5 guys ARE the ones you actually want in WvW who put it all on the line knowing they will go down with the ship.

This shouldn’t apply to primetime battles. Most groups fight eachother. it only ever applies to when you are severly outnumbered.

Can someone provide me an example of say … what it would look like for those 5 guys without siege disablers? Or better yet … an example of what servers have equal numbers but fail to use both siege and timing to engage or just don’t engage at all? I know people say … server ‘x’ siege humpers all day prime time with equal numbers… but I’ve rarely ever seen a server do that with maybe the exception of a garri strike, where the defenders have already wiped multiple times to the force.

I mean no disrespect, but I’d like my eyes opened to both sides of the argument.

Personally I think Anet’s looking to somewhat resolve the issue of server stacking, by stacking all the servers. As the poster above me noted … link servers to find population balances… (no 1 month of data is not enough) and matches will be messed up while they find some sort of balance that is closer than what we used to have. Kinda like tightening the belt.

There must have been a weird lag spike last night… multiple people in our guild run were experiencing it at the identical time. It got to the point where we decided to restart our game clients, only to find that our game clients were giving us an error message saying sorry cannot connect to the server try again later. A few minutes later we were able to get back into the game, jumped back into EBG and rallied up. I ran to Langor to grab supplies, onyl to have the portal block access to langor … yes we owned it. After about 30 seconds of rubbing my face against our portal – it shot me straight through to the back wall. I go to collect supply, and my character won’t pick it up. After about 10 seconds he’s ported again to the corner and has his supply in tow. I noticed the siege only had 23 minutes left on timer, so I decided to refresh it, but it wouldn’t let me on any of it.

First time I lagged in a long time. I don’t generally have any issues, even in SMC 3 ways … I expect the flashing skill bars but full control over your characters or the ability to jump on a piece of siege. That is normal behaviour I’ve seen from the game, last night was messed. Even our guild driver was porting around uncontrollably. I have to wonder what the hell the game client is doing. The server issues are the flashing skill bars chugging along trying to calc all the boons and math on the 3 ways. That’s old news… but I think there’s something wrong with our clients now. I have spent time updating/cleaning my pc, I do regularly I work in IT. But last night was just messed up.

Update … my guild of 3 attempted to do the guild mission to claim a camp and lock it down for upgrade to tier 1… we captured the camp + locked down and held it for 35 minutes solid. But only 11/20 yaks made it to their destination. At that point about 6 BG came in and cleaned us up.

No success for the little guys

Any tips for this? Is there certain camps that are easier to accomplish this goal? Or do we need to claim the camp as well, and get the schematic for speedy yaks (we don’t have a GH presently because we are 3)

Reduce the cost of the commander’s compendium. Sometimes it would be nice to have more people who have it available so they could in fact tag up if there is no tag on map, or alternatively tag up when a commander has run for hours on end and asks for a replacement. It’s usually like, ‘man, I’m super tired just ran for ‘x’ hours, can someone please take over for me?’ crickets

I know many people have a tag, but many don’t use it and 300g is a large barrier for newer players who are coming into the game. It used to be 100g, and while that was alot, it was somewhat doable. Example … I play roughly 4 hours a night, i make roughly 10-15g (dailies included). In theory it should take me half a month to a month to get one. However, I spend about 10g a day on food, oil, and prints + mats for upgrading those prints. So if I average a 5g/day profit while playing my game mode … it would take me 60 days @ 4 hours a night… which is more like a job. Of course there are more expenses, guild donations are one that cuts into it. So realistically it would be saving gold for about 3 months solid play time (forget any RL items to take a day off).

Rather see more because there are many commanders who simply won’t tag because they are tired of herding the sheep, and it leads to less activity in general. I know, in my early days I would pop on, check the map see if there is a tag on map, if not … skip to next map or switch to a character more suited for roaming, and roaming alone bores me over time. I enjoy the community aspect of the game, and chatting with my server mates while working together.

Aside from that build templates, can vote enough for… but I see it as more a pipe dream and won’t hold me breath.

Reward track for just gold… the clutter is real and many people just don’t even bother collecting loot anymore because all the tiny bits that accumulate very fast.

Badges are not useless… they provide income, and a decent amount too. Seeing the very different personalities on here make this thread very humorous. I’m one of those fly by the seat of my pants, roll with the punches type of players… so it’s no sweat off my back. I’m used to Anet making strange changes for their own reasons. But the amount of time many people have spent trolling the boards versus submitting complaints to anet. Could have had multiple GoB’s already completed.

While I still have empathy for those who had lots of BoH and never spent them for whatever their own reasons were … I feel it’s time to get back up off the ground, dust yourself off and do something different. Anet has made changes like this throughout the entirety of the game. If anyone remembers for example … power levelling cooking at the games release with karma vendor items? No? … how about the change to the trebuchet spot from garri to bay on the borderlands? No again? … what about battle standard and npc’s? Or when revealed never existed?

I mean they have been making changes all along whether it be environmental, balance, terrain, or item… and they have generally said ’we’re looking at this possible change’ then change it and report out in the update.

I still feel sorry for those who accumulated thousands of badges and failed to action, or was waiting until the last minute (that never came) before handing hem in. I imagine all those people who may have been on hiatus and picked up the game again months later will also be just as confused when they come back to a game that is slightly different because of it’s evolution. Kinda how I felt when I came back, saw nodes in towers/keeps etc … and these tactivators and shield generators. I was like wtf is all this junk? Only those people will be like… wtf is the vendor?

I feel for you. I have a 3 person guild for my family and was like wtf? How come i have to now pay 100g to go do a mission to claim a guild hall (which I read requires something like 6-9 players ideally) … before I can even start getting influence from upgrades, wait no… we then have to unlock a tavern first which requires more materials (albeit more reasonably priced), a mine excavation (which again – is somewhat reasonable) to unlock a workshop restoration (which costs quite a bit) to finally get a war room?

And then we can begin to look at schematics like camp supplies and buffs (which i don’t know but i think you need like linseed oil, flax fibres and badges of tribute)?

Wow… I don’t know enough about the process, or how easy or costly it is … but for a family playing the game – it seems like we are not really meant to have access to those things now.

It seems like a huge gold sink that most small families would not be able to afford.

Some good suggestions on here. big support on …

- Build saver
- Option for commander tag to only be visible for closed squad guild runs
- Do something about the amount of blue/greens we get. I’d rather get 1 yellow every now and then, instead of 15-20 blue/green items. Inventory mgmt has always been an issue with this game. The sell tab for portable provisioner may work nice.
- Battle chat, open to all three servers on the map. This could help egg on fights, it also could get a little out of hand.
- The ability of changing tag colours, I mean is that just broken? It’s kinda lame to have to reform the squad up just to swap from blue to yellow
- Toggling nameplate clutter
- Less clutter on the screen… no unnecessary sparkly trails, floating text or any other useless trash that would add to lag.

Think when you implement things “how would this look if all 3 servers were in a 3 way in smc” would this cause more problems? or less.

I’d also love just a reward track that flat out gave just money. No items.

FYI … not all T1 servers get the attention BG gets, but we definately get more attention then what you have had to go through. Are yuo guys reporting any of this or making anet aware of any of it?

I can’t wait to try a bunch of omega’s walking up to keeps rotating shield bubbles while the zerg just sits under the bubbles, periodically repairing the golems on an as needed basis. If each golem only requires 150 to fill there health bars to full but something like 26,000 health to destroy in theory it should be a cake walk.
