WvW never meant to be balanced, from inception, never meant to be that way. It’s just a shell for players to go muck around in and have fun.
Yay … go Kaineng and friends!
That is all.
Grinding also means to bump bits while listening to a slow jam – I won’t copy the meaning but if it’s on urban dictionary it must be accurate
I kinda miss those old matchup threads … they got pretty intense some days. At the same time, it was a good outlet to post match specific items, like if you had a decent battle with an opponent, whether large scale or small duel or team.
I even remember people calling out others before logging in like ’we’ll be on tonight and we’re going to break your WP’ … followed by either a humble response at a failed attempt or like 20 posts from randoms on a victory rubbing that salt into the wounds.
Anet should just rent out the pixar or dreamworks servers that do the rendering for the animations, apparently they got some serious horsepower
Thank god this will pass. It just makes sense to give players options for their preferred BL map to play on.
The second option of swapping in and out is just not a good choice for the future of WvW. Player attrition would occur less by providing both always.
8.5 hours or so to complete , this part of the legendary is one of the easiest to complete.
How long does it take you to farm enough karma from 0 until you have enough shards for both mastery and clovers?
How long does it take for clovers?
What about 200 spirit shards starting from 0?
- trying to nerf the easiest piece of the legendary is a little silly.
We still got TP, heroics, badge and and laurel vendors though right? (i never used crafting there on home bl)
Well… on a side note …. awesome fights all around over the weekend and last night (in t1). Hoping other tiers are having just as much fun out there.
To those on BG & YB coming out each night, /salute and keep up the fights.
Join kaineng and come play with TC, we have the largest female population across both NA and EU. Kinda why we are the happiest players too
And turn your back on Destiny’s Edge, or whatever Destiny’s Edge 2.0 is called (Dragon’s watch i think was the front runner) … hell no.
If they allow factions, I hope they implement pvp for opposing factions so I can come hunt you down sylvari (just kidding)
ASUS all the way… been on my ASUS laptop since launch, and no issues. I do however still have a win8.1 operating system and refuse adamantly to change to win 10 …. (here’s me waving my middle to MSFT).
I generally play in WvW with heavy battles and no issues.
…. then it’s just a matter of making a bee-line for the temple vendor, which shouldn’t be hard because by then you’ll be decked out in Rares… assuming you didn’t rush to much.
~EW
Just to follow this note up, most my alts b-lined to unlock the temple of grenth WP and karma merchant before they were 80, and in story mode reward gear…. which for the last 5-10 provide exotics as rewards. Some gear was still lower, like lvl40, and my aquabreather was still the first one provided.
T6 Mats ->
Cloth: 0.8s
Leather: 20s
Wood: 10s
Ore: 5sYou call this balanced? I don’t. I call this a total failure.
Just take out the wood and ore (t6) … those are farmable. I farm them daily, I farmed them when my character wasn’t even 80. As an experienced player, it’s easy … but newer players would need to learn to farm them to keep up with there needs, whether crafting or generating income. The price of leather is out of whack. For the first 2.5 years of the game leather was dirt cheap. Yet, wood and cloth were not. Also wood was tweaked slightly to require less mats for soft wood specifically. When ascended armor came out, it took 4 soft wood per plank… this was adjusted by anet, and supply flourished, and the price levelled out. Still farmable. The issue with leather is it’s (in appearance) harder to come by. This isn’t entirely accurate. As a level 80, you can go to say Harathi hinterlands, and farm the waves of mobs there… you will get some fluff drops, but you will also get lvl 80 drops. Boring way to farm though, and not for most people. Personally I wish leather was toned down slightly, making the gossamer patches is very much dependant on … leather? Weird, i would assume gossamer should be the challenge, but it’s not. Leather has issues.
That aside, it’s still far easier to kill Teq daily and be geared in exotics in a week or 10 days or so (depending if you do anything else to generate karma with the rest of your days). Any new player can easily do this, and be fully geared to battle in challenging maps. You can pick up Berserker’s sets at the temple of grenth karma merch.
Weapons I generally would waste dungeon tokens and such on. Anything to decrease the useless income in the wallet that I will never use again. I find the players playing dungeons lately and collecting tokens to be more challenging than the days of past. In fact, on one of my accounts I still have to do 2 arah runs for the gift, but that’s besides the point. Dungeon activity has seemed to have kinda died off. Adding them to daily’s won’t get people into it, I think this is just a side effect of the game being out for so many years, and natural player progression has them moving to raids.
I feel this kinda makes it a little more challenging for newer players, but to date, the easiest way to gear for new players or alts, without crafting as an option … is still karma, and Teq gives almost enough to buy 1 piece per day. I can’t remember but it’s between 15k-19k I think.
Do Tequatl daily on reset, buy karma gear to start off. You’ll have full exo’s basically in a little over a week from logging in and spending 20 minutes a day killing him. The rest of the time is bonus. Your limited by stat options, but it’s all basically free.
This is what I’ve done both on my main account, and my alt account. Of course I went and put a set of ascended on my main, and am presently working on ascended for my alt… but I know that ascended armor takes a lot more time than anything else. To be honest, I’m time gated on my alt account by spirit shards. This is the only gate I see new players having difficulty with.
Money comes and goes, actually staying focused on directing the money made to the crafting/ascended is another small challenge. It’s so easy to get sidetracked in this game and spend money on other useless things.
Also as stated, dungeon gear is fairly cheap, but finding groups can sometimes take a while when playing outside of prime time.
and leave the guest unlocked? if so, what is the point of linking…
They could simply link 3 servers at the bottom end of the tier together.
Let’s say this were to happen. and BG still wins every week without slowing down… nothing will change.
Let’s say it happens and BG loses to TC (while linked) … unlikely but if it were to… shortly after i would assume TC would then be unlinked in the near future as well.
The servers that are unlinked should be linked to the lower tiers then. As in EU there are some 3 server pairings
It’s kinda a touchy subject though, because in BG’s defense and the EU equivalent… this could be seen as match manipulation by Anet. I believe this is something that the devs have probably had a few water cooler conversations about already, many times.
My advice to you is drink their tears. Let them know you are better than them and take their kickball. Make them cry more and rip their heart out
This… so much of this. I am still laughing about it even after reading everything else written on this thread.
Don’t link BG, give the bottom pairing a third pairing. Like Main server + DH + whatever server would have gone to BG
Just as a test. i would like to see if BG had no pairing, how much would they still win by
Council – you have been caught in the act of capturing the camp without permission, what do u have to say
Me – I just wanted some supplies to finish the cata to retake durios
Council – there was a vote of 3-2 for you to to not solo retake that tower because we needed everyone to run yaks
Me – but but…
Council – silence! You shall be punished, your sentence , 300 yaks to be escorted to the keep
Me – nooooooooooo alt f4
Council – rage quitting is an act of treason, you shall be banished to scout the DBL when the map returns
LMFAO …. this just made my friday. I will have a pint and relish this brilliant post.
I’ve only played … Everquest, FF11, DAoC, WoW, FF:ARR, Warhammer, LotrO, GW2 (and 1 but its not mmo, and we only gvg’d), EVE:Online .
There are a lot of limits in all those games, but the game mode was made more an RvR style from inception so I wasn’t expecting an empty map to build up from scratch completely. Just an open avenue map that offers individuals, small teams, and large war scale sieges. The closest I can compare this mode to is the RvR style of DAoC
Don’t hold the breathe on this one … we’ve had a total of 2 new maps introduced into this game mode since launch. EoTM which ended up just being a side product for playing while there used to be queues, and DBL. Two. That’s it. But in comparison PvE only had 7, 4 of those being in an xpac.
Whether its due to limited resources or complete neglect of the game mode for periods of time… I would estimate new maps come every 1.5 years given the track record.
What I read is your sandbox is a vision of just a pile of sand and let the players do with as they will… while the other argument is that it’s a pile of sand in a box with walls to keep the sand in. Both have buckets and rakes you can play with, just one is slightly limited.
There is a finite amount of points that can be capped. Depending on how many times each structure is flipped, it can vary from a lower total score (of all 3 servers combined) to a higher total score. Less deviation will lead to lower total score, but in the end… its the players who control that aspect. While they are limited in there potential to change the total scores, it’s still in our control.
Offer perks such as
Remote Bank, BLTP access.
You can buy these already for gems, or hell buy gems —> gold and get the perma one.
Free Waypoints
I guess? I don’t seem to mind the WP costs, and I’m not even in a guild who has reduced costs from guild halls.
Increased gathering rate.
Magic Find Bonus
Already available from banners and food. These are available almost 24/7
Also if you are at max cap, then what? You get no benefit.
Some sort of generic not fancy Infinite Gathering tool.
I could use this for my alt account, but will just eventually buy them over time. I presently spend either 10-20 per month, but it’s for stuff that actually matters to me. Nothing outside of this item on your list appeals to me. But that’s just personal preference, so I get the idea you are going after. Basically a money dump for very limited non game changing sign up subscription.
I’ve seen this posted before, and it would do well for those who want to… the adverse affect though, would be the thought of it alone would likely drive away more players than the amount that would sign up. But, those that sign up are likely spending 10-20 a month already on items they want. And those that would leave might make the odd purchase but nothing consistent.
It’s because nothing will ever be as cool as Bolt. Hands down, every time I see someone running with it drawn, it reminds me of the WoW: Wrath of the Lich King: Halls of Lightning boss
I actually like seeing the lazy players every now and then … I get a chuckle and generally go stand next to them … point, laugh, teabag and carry on the help the cause. I can’t tell you how many SB I’ve done and the portal teams are like 5-6 people. Those guys reward should be bumped to cheap exotics… then watch how many players jump to help out.
I’m a member of TC, currently allied with Kaineng until tonight. First, just wanted to say to Kaineng, thanks for the fun it was nice to battle and chat with you guys. We will see if we get paired up again at reset. If not, bid you guys farewell and see you again sometime.
Now, EBG … last night was a ton of fun. The battles in SMC were great, whether we wiped or wiped the enemies, the battles were persistent all night. I just wanted to send a thanks out to all parties, and especially all leaders who took the time to drive.
The small skirmishes that kept happening at outer were also fun. At no point at all last night was there any real down time. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone in our current match up for the great battles, both large and small.
Hats off to BG + ET, YB + AR, and my fellow comrades on TC + Kaineng. Looking forward to more exciting battles.
click play and skip it like the rest of us?
no, i demand a safe space.
What about a safe space for those of us tired of these complaints?
I bet I get ‘put a post it over your eyes’
:)
2. WvW and PVE should be tightly connected. For example if situation on BLs and EB is bad for your server, you get major debuff in PvE like penalties to gold gain, magic find, higher WP costs, higher TP fees etc.
I like your ideas as a player except this one ^^ …. If something like this were in place … the forums would blow up with the pve players who don’t want to ever enter WvW being penalised for poor server performance.
But all of your suggestions sound great to me… there is a nice list of incentives for players who don’t commonly play in WvW.
I like winner up, loser down … variety in matches, but we would see very volitile matchs every odd week.
But that’s the game, some weeks you will get crushed, some weeks you will crush others … and every now and then you get pitted in some fair fights.
Thank you, I’ve seen plenty of axe/shield + GS roamers, I just feel like I could be contributing better in WvW. I feel like I’m still playing the old way, which while viable … isn’t optimal anymore. Metabattle doesn’t seem to help much, there’s some interesting conquest builds. But in terms of WvW … not sure what to do. Thanks for the tips – just trying to get up to speed what would be most useful.
Does concentration affect resistance uptime?
…Or one that works night shift and the other who works days
Could be fun, could be a nightmare.
Thanks I’ll give it a go… I just want to update my build, but I’m kinda deadlocked as I really enjoy the warhorn, helps with condi clears/blast/and mobility.
fwiw … I hardly use the sword, minus the gap closer every now and then
Why is the anet forum being plagued with server politics? And what do you want … say … people in america reading these forums to do about it? Side with you? Won’t change anything …
It’s time to find the good crowd/community you have built, and … #wewillrebuild
Ignore chopstick and his lack respect for others … hell ignore all of them.
And if anyone wants to know a worse troll … go figure out who coined the term ‘mouthbreathers’ in WvW and get a history lesson of a real troll and server politics.
All this doesn’t include 90% of the WvW population. This post should be on your forums.
So I generally still play a hybrid of Ham-shout in WvW … I really enjoy the mobility of the s/wh and love playing hammer for cc … utilities tend to be 3 of the following depending on my mood …
(FGJ, Balanced Stance, Berserker’s Stance, Bull’s Charge… and very rarely now Shake it off)
I’m just curious because I’m trying to make the transition to utilise more of the HoT elite specs, but don’t want to go to the extent of changing my preferred weapons. I know this limits my potential skill cap playing this build against roamers or small teams … but we all like to have some small battles between the big ones.
I’m presently in full berserker’s and have little need for additional toughness (have 3 accounts and have played wvw since bwe1 or 2 was it).
My questions are as follows:
1. Is Marauder’s stats in any way better than Berserker’s… is it worth switching over to get the concentration? Anyone have experience here
2. Is there a skill line I should move my traits to, I am pretty sure I’m still on the original defensive set up … should I move one line to Berserker’s?
Can anyone give me any tips to help me make this transition? While i enjoy supporting the commander’s or a good squad, I want to step up my game and 1vX skills.
I have been getting into trouble with a few small skirmish teams lately, mostly because I enjoy the challenge of fighting them, and I think they have had some fun fighting me. I think one of them pretty much looks for me on the field, cause I see him almost every night.
While I have decent survivability I would like to increase and update my knowledge and skill.
To my best knowledge: this is pretty close to what I am running:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNBiYDbkpDq8wyQwKEoDxQWQlnwFECaNU4xAO4FQAA-TFDBQBJw0XV2fwIKp8wVA4IKV0oyg8oLYCKBxh6PQ4gAAgHAQK0IEAAB4m3MbGgbGAA-w
How rude of me, my apologies, it’s been a pleasure fighting against you ET
BG + 0
TC + SoS
YB + JQ
come on anet, you know you wanna dirty the waters a little bit here
I’m sure all sides would love it
Anet wants you to buy the shared inventory slots for these things … I don’t think we’d see this anytime soon, if ever
Isn’t selling your account a bannable offense? Or has anet given up on that entirely
I think they should base it on ranks earned in WvW maps , and remove ranks earned in eotm. Then set a low bar threshold say rank 50 or so.
This should eliminate a high cap rank req farmed outside of WvW, allowing access to newer players who have invested a decent amount of time to have their voices heard, or the solo / roamers who collect points and rank much less frequently than say a commander. Includes everyone, gets rid of eotm ranks
Or do something like sending the mail to all players who earned 2 ranks that week
I used to be in Rethesis [RE] years ago … we moved to Kaineng with War Machine, RISE, WvW (I believe) Chaster Sharpshooters ocx guild, I forget what they were called but they all had amazing pve armor and dye jobs, a guild from south america I believe, one of the original HoD guilds and about 5-10 others…
with the purposeful intent on raising kaineng from last place to first (ferg’s was legitimately last during that time – but kaineng won the vote).
Then we all went our separate ways when we got to the TC zombie coast wall. and kaineng fell back down. It wasn’t right to do, but players do that for personal challenges or to see if things are possible. We as a population have been overstacking since the games inception.
<— part of the original problem, feels sorry about it … but made a lot of good friends along the way and realises its only game meant to be enjoyed so I’m not losing no sleep over it
so to the poster who keeps pointing out TW and OnS names around, stop it, because many people have been in the same shoes before. It’s not the fault of one or two guilds, it’s the fault of a mechanic allowing this to occur for so long that (the masses) took advantage of.
Not sure how to fix it, or if its even worth the effort
I thought the bar does decay based on participation levels every 5 minutes.
I don’t esport either, but I just ignore the fluff until patch days
It would be interesting to rework it to show something useful, but that’s of course a matter of personal opinion.
I remember when leather was so cheap no one wanted it. Like coppers cheap. I love these prices now
I also remember when soft wood planks required 4 soft wood… or is it still 4 soft wood logs to make a plank? i think it was reduced because soft wood was quite expensive back then, like 5 silver I think
Lol … slap a post it note on your monitor over your login , then remove it when your at the character select screen.
The only time I ever read those is if a big patch drops and I want to read the notes.
click play and skip it like the rest of us?
I can’t believe no one has suggested this yet but … just be honest with your friend, and roll a new character with them when they start playing
- kitten shadowape… forsaken
Would love to see a tournament… and cap each map to 20 players/server hard limit.
Then… popcorn time
A positive post… I’m still on the gw2 forums right (checks url)?
I still say Anet should put some pain and demoralization into its playerbase, and cap map limits at the lowest populated server. Give BG ~100+ queues, while maps hold whatever numbers YB is able to provide.
Personally speaking, players have always made elaborate plans to server stack… this was mainly caused to populations and caps previously being based on world pve pops, not wvw pops. They would move WvW guilds (usually arranging like 5-10 NA, and 3-5 OCX onto an empty server so the server was a WvW focused server). This isn’t the case anymore. Now pops are based on WvW to some extent.
Now anyone who can or could get into BG jumped into it because most don’t want to be left on a dying server. Most won’t pay gem prices to move multiple times, the random players just want to move once.
This is why I don’t get why people are pointing fingers to TW and OnS, I just don’t believe that logic. I see it more based from random players looking for a WvW home that will have more activity or outlast the less populated servers. They moved and stayed with the most logical choice, the winning server. And likely will not move off… ever. If Anet were to force populations to spread out, most would likely just drop the game, and that’s not good for any community.
