OS should be a megaserver tbh, it makes little sense not to do this. Since they took it out from EBG’s keeps … it should be an area where all servers can go and arrange scrims and such. It’s the perfect size, the guild hall arena is tiny, good for say dueling but thats about it … and the OS has that arena Colosseum feel about it.
What is up man! (high five)
wohooo, EB 64 queue, blue border 32 queue, green border 24 queue, red border 0 queue dead as kitten. the joy its amazing.
this is from T1 btw.
Too bad NA isn’t adapting to DBL like EU. Most of our organized guilds appear to be making fine use of DBL with no one squawking about QQs.
He is EU t1, not NA.
NA has players going to the map. On the weekend, there was queues on DBL (on TC) and EBG … in fact it seems very random to what get queues now. I popped in on saturday and sunday and had some fun at the air keep, and roaming around the map to get better accustomed to it. Still don’t have a clue about siege placement and stuff, but it’s party of the discovery phase that I enjoy.
Most of the video was on his warrior running mace/shielf + GS …only the first bit had the long bow s/s condi setup
I don’t know, I enjoyed it cause I main warrior usually (unless guild needs ‘x’)
I remember all my friends and I made charr characters once to start and check out that area. There was some NPC bad guy shaman that was literally killing everyone. I mean dead bodies all around the cave and for at least 15 feet, yet people kept going back to fight it … die and respawn.
We eventually all quit playing charrs altogether.
I also remember accidentally finding some map, me and 2 guys in my party… we walked down some stairs kinda like … what map is this? So different and new. Then some green dude was running around started heading towards us. Cool, we thought. But how come he is green, he’s not an npc… maybe something is wrong with my graphics card. about 5 seconds later we were all dead and just realized we walked into WvW with our lowbies.
Forget mounts, forget changing the skillset system, but add in skills that are not present such kittenter Enchantment… call it shatter boon. And make it work on as many boons as the individual has, or make it AoE on up to ‘x’ on players and ‘y’ of boons.
But yeah … this far into the lifecycle, I don’t think anything ‘can’ or should be changed. Some of the ideas put forth across the threads require to completely change / overhaul a whole system. That just won’t happen at this point.
I’m waiting for the aviator glasses to come back, to gift them to a friend.
It is… just watch the server status on:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World
I think you have 1 free transfer if you haven’t transferred yet, but you still have to wait for the world to open up.
Dang, knew I recognised that Sarabi name. TC was open last week briefly. We woulda loved to have ya, got a lot of good groups here. Not sure how busy JQ’s EU early NA rollover is – likely less busy than there overnight crews, but another good NA option is Maguuma. They always have a strong player base in your timezone all the way to PST. You probably get a good sense of how JQ is in the current t2 match against Mag’s during your timezone.
I’m sure JQ would love to keep ya too, as they can use some early NA tags. Keep an eye on the world status if you’re considering moving.
Why do I recognise your name … you were one of the guys from Kaineng when we were over there years back with RISE RE CO and WM weren’t you?
What’s your prime time you want to play? And what server is your account on right now? reason I ask is TC, BG, DB, and JQ are all full … TC generally has pretty good community on comms nightly (I’m biased).
But I’m sure every server can say the same. BG’s always been one of if not the most coordinated. I think RISE moved to DB.
Same thing happened to me. I got 2 out of my world completion across all those maps. But hey got lots of transmutation charges (which i prefer anyways, I think the BL stuff is kinda lame). Yay
Ubi, that’s one hell of a nice picture. Where is that Texas? Arizona? New Mexico?
People find all sorts of ways to die. Jump from keeps, towers, whatever they can. Most of the time it happens cause they have there inv open or another panel. Sometimes … it’s just cause the pin did it, which baffles me.
Different developers, different company goals. And yes, what Ubi said … it was a guy playing WoW. Died – no one else noticed until his 23 hours was up and they checked on him.

Just re skin EBG into a primitive more forested (LOS) /swampy style and call it a day. Good jobs boys, let’s go have a pint!
DBL is fine, will take some getting used to… players gonna fall from cliffs no matter how many big flashy warnings you put on there screen.
I thought this was going to be an oiled versus plain mixup… but OP you need to pay more attention in future. If you’ve crafted up to 500 for ascended level, you would know that swords both small and great require the same quantity of materials. This is 100% PEBKAC but if you are nice, support may be able to help revert it for you.
To be honest, lately I’ve been having some great fights. Which is the only + I can say. A lot of that has to do with the people I play with and the leadership on our server (TC). And learning from better players.
If you only took hiatus since april, literally nothing has changed. They beta’d repair hammers (are they still in?) … there was some poll about deployable cannons which is just a weird concept imho.
Outside of that i can’t think of what they actually did. Oh they added a hay bail in dBL somewhere.
Varying populations across 24 hours of day … hard nut to crack
There will be a tactivator for that
I’d also like an alternate way of obtaining the Gift of Exploration in PvE. It would be great if i could unlock that in 8.5 hours through say meta boss trains or something. The way it is in it’s current form is just not adequate for someone who has no interest in mind numbing hearts, vistas, poi’s hero challenges and waypoints. I feel like i spend more time running around in circles than anything else.
It most certainly is. If we are outnumbered in an alpine bl 2 to 1, we can still get to a disputed objective in time…and if we have siege, successfully defend. If you are outnumbered 2 to 1 and you have no one anywhere near an objective, good luck getting there in time.
I don’t know … the base tower from DBL is about the same distance as an offensive ABL base tower to run to from spawn. It’s really not that far from spawn at all, and the spawn is more open and shorter on DBL than ABL. Now running from that tower to the keep ‘feels’ a little farther than running from the base tower to keep in ABL.
Lol … OP starts thread ’Druid’s OP’ … thread evolves into ‘Buff Druids DPS’
I know a lot of people and none of them voted for DBL
uhmmm, how many people you know again?
Here you go…
This game is 24/7, if other people playing during what they consider day/peak time bothers you this much then maybe you should go play something else.
Me and my 40 friends online gang already did, soon all the others will do… So better fix this soon or kungkittenpandas will win
From another thread. He and his 40 friends … whom may already be planning to leave the game anyway.
The people on TC, and because my family and friends play, that’s about it.
The rest (entire game) is just shiny pixels for people to have fun with.
I like it. Interesting idea, but don’t swap it with EP. Some of the fight guilds wait until inner is at 50% before even responding to the map, and use the EP to port in just before the walls drop.
…
I don’t really get the population imbalance reference for it though.
Ah, I looped it into the mix. Just meant people who complain will always find something to complain about.
I think it will change if YB and CD swapped tiers. I believe YB is a stronger server overall than CD, but I guess we can only wait until that match up actually takes place. At least it would be nice to see the comparison.
They monetize PvE through aesthetics … why a sub for WvW.
I’m happy to buy gems to buy things that would be useful in WvW – skin unlocks (armors, weapons) … finishers, hell they could sell reskinned siege (that actually looks cool), maybe using gems so a roamer can claim a camp (not everyone has some guild that they can do this on, and the mechanism for your guild halls is too hefty for less than 9 players), but selling access to some of those I’d consider buying.
The big thing is making it optional and aethetics… I’m not sure about others, but I generally don’t waste more than 1 month sub for any sub game. Example … I buy expac, pay 1 month sub… play expac to up my character progression, then quit.
I presently spend more on gw2 than I have ever on any subscription based game. But the big key is … it’s my choice on what I want to buy. Subs give me the forced to get my moneys worth feeling.
You would just have players afk in keep, get wiped, wait and use res orbs, and towers even. These really are not necessary.
The maps are not that large, i beleive res orbs place is strickly for things like dungeons or fractals … that’s where its really usefull to avoid the check from waypoint run back.
I’m okay with the booster/consumables, most only last an hour anyway, and we need to get rid of them. 5% dmg increase, 5% armor bonus, speed, whatever – its like wxp bonuses, but revive orbs should stay out in my humble opinion.
Besides you won’t get much in terms of gem sales from WvW players for evive orbs unless they were abused in some manner, which the community would then complain about and have them removed. It’s just not a good fit.
For some reason, when I read the title, my mind automatically assumed this thread was about the orbs of power… (my reading comprehension is not on point today)
I voted to keep it. I’m glad I did. It’s refreshing rediscovering things. No more autopilot for me.
But naysayers always gonna naysay. If not about this, then about pop imbalances, or elite specs, or skills that are overpowered… until they are playing pong again. All the while I’ll just enjoy having fun in the game and get used to this terrain. Can things be improved, sure … doesn’t mean I’m going to boycott things. I’m enjoying the map.
Yeah, no need for a gimmicky thing, doesn’t even have to have a big impact on the current map design… I’d just like to see something draw players to alternate avenues from the circle the exists today. Alpine has nice terrain in the middle that both roamers, or squads can easily traverse, yet most large fights occur around it, mostly around keep objectives. EBG has SMC, and many fights occur around it. Don’t need a laser for tower / keep gimmicks. It kinda takes away from the utility of siege and players as your primary resource. Would like to expand on the fact that players matter more than anything else to take out objectives. Besides the map has plenty of areas you can make use of siege. The strange thing i find is it seems like the keeps are very large, meaning maybe most fights should happen once outer breeches as there is a lot of space between outer and inner.
Hell I’d even be happy if it was a camp in the middle that gacve your keep supplies twice as fast but only delivered it to your keep. I’m sure most people would try cap/keep that to get there keep upgraded.
I’m personally hoping to get a better understanding of the DBL and see if we can get this thirds mentality going eventually. I believe the more you take players through it and understanding the routes to get where you want to the fastest … the easier on others it will become. For example … we have Air Keep in our third … but I’ve never started in this section ever and spent maybe 20 hours in the map altogether (mostly on red side). I had no idea how to run from my spawn to the keep fast. Seriously. I’d spend a good 5 minutes trying to understand which way to go, and where it ends up.
But over time, I pick it up. Eventually I think we’ll have some good battles in DBL. Once players start getting accustomed to defending and building up their keeps. One thing I really enjoyed yesterday was seeing how some enemies (BG) were attacking certain areas, and holding the defenses at bay. They did a great job (this is to you XVX, QQ, and others that took air keep last night). I kinda fight blindly not yet accustomed to the terrain, so I find myself getting stuck in bad positions, but this isa learning curve, and I’m really enjoying the learning curve. I honestly didn’t think I would enjoy this map as much as I am, and I can see a lot of potential in the future.
Only thing I don’t get is … the middle, what is that… is there any use to it? Can we make it more accessible and put something all 3 teams want to fight over?
Also are there any guides tips or write ups on the map, something that would help newer players get better accustomed to it? Would love to share something like that on my server website to help others who may be in similar shoes to me.
It was only a matter of time that this thread would pop up. What’s DBL been back in for less than 1 week?
I wouldn’t hold your breath for a new map anytime soon. Personally I don’t care because i will be on DBL learning the things for a good while.
First week… dice rolled got JQ in T2 (I on TC, thought we would roll it), but I’m happy with the current pairings. I’d be happy in t2 also.
YB rolled T4, that won’t stick. I would imagine t4 na, will get CD+2 soon enough(next week).
EU pairings look like the rolls gave large volitility. I would imagine things level out a bit over the next 2 weeks. Minus the 2nd place pairing which seems suspect.
Stuff happens, been enjoying myself this weekend so far, haven’t even looked at the score until today. Glad TC got kaineng paired, our old friends reunited. We can have some fun, whether in t1 or t2.
I support game development… multi maps is more engaging, and offers more to the overall populations. Players can play what they choose, means overall there will be more activity. It’s good for the health of a game in general. If you shoot down any development time invested, you get even less in the future. personally I like the map, (so far so much as I’ve covered of it).
I’m enjoying having DBL in the mix. I was never really accustomed to the map before, and I’m getting more used to the paths and routes to take. It’s been quite an enjoyable experience.
Even learning about siege placement kinda feels new and undiscovered. In comms people openly admit they don’t know the optimal placements yet, but will try to lay some to defend a keep. Kinda gives me the feelings way back when people were learning about the alpines (way long ago) ….
Also, getting to know the routes and paths, exploring the doughnut and bridges crevices, etc is pretty interesting. Also remembering to ‘look up’ to check for enemies. I don’t know how many times a ranger was sitting on a peak just pew pew’ing but it’s all a learning curve for me. And i’m enjoying it, even if I’m dirt napping here and there.
The elite specs are strong and the expac is worth it, but you can run vanilla builds. if your good in WvW, have the common sense and knowledge to relay messages and work with your team, that generally is more important. The only real time you may find yourself having more difficulties is when you are roaming and fighting things like scrappers, berserkers and daredevils.
Skill capping in gw1 … I mean the original capturing mechanism … where you had to use a signet of capture on the boss to get the elites ….
Getting stances was kitten near impossible. But such fun.
Theorycrafting and building was also fun. Sometiems we would sit in our guild hall over vent and just build … then go GvG and find things that didn’t work , adjust and try again. A lot of trial and error with the ‘roles’
<— Loved monking in GvG’s … whether Infuse or Boon Prot – just loved it.
Second fav, was playing curse or BiP necro, depending on team build.
We can work within the confines of gw2, they have confines such as this to prevent things like the 55 monk from occuring.
People will start playing the DBL … most just took this broken week and play randomly for fun. Our server has no organised events ongoing at all. We’re all waiting for the linking and friday reset. Hell, I was doing my dailies after heavy ale consumption last night with some friends (still wanted my 2g before I headed to bed) and me and a couple other guys took our home tower on bgbl. One guy popped a tag, and the three of us ran down to take the camp, 2 others were there. So the 5 of us went to a t3 waypointed hills…. (best part) and dropped flame ram prints. Not superior, just the good ol fashioned freebie plain rams. Must have taken about 10-15 minutes to breach outer. We were spotted like 2 minutes into the fray, and we go through outer. At this point i was like wtf is going on. I fully intended to be rickrolled like 10 minutes ago. We did eventually wipe to like 5-7 guys after we cleared siege… but everyone is hibernating, and I’m pretty sure this friday the action will pick up again.
Doesn’t matter what map you are on. Or what server … you’ll see things pick up again. I’m actually looking forward to dbl. I play most on ebg, but I like diversity… so it’s going to be a welcomed change.
I concur, warriors should get stealth. We can call the elite spec seals
Rest of the world planned better … school starts post PAX West.
Lump of Mithrillium, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord, and Spool of Silk Weaving Thread
Also not sure, but i think some charged fossil or charged quartz is once per day too? i can’t really remember, long time since i made a celestial
One word, hexes.
If we had something like the old Spiteful Spirit
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Spiteful_SpiritWe can make zerg balls kill themselves.
Weird thought,
remove passive dmg tics from confusion and add in an aoe component. Maybe Dmg to target on skill cast and said dmg again on target and in an aoe around target. Not really sure the game needs more aoe anything atm though. Not that it would counter peoples claim that full zergs are running 100% uptime on resistance. Must be something limited to t1.
Brilliant. So much this. You would be able to call out the people who fail to ‘pay attention’ to there boons and hexes. Also I loved spiteful spirit, they should definately add a mechanism for punishing people in AoE form for poor play. It would have an affect on zerging even if you don’t believe so.
Giant Colosseum with lots of seating, and a vendor who manages the current fights. Teams register in it,
Vendor acts as heart event guy who takes bets for 1 minute time limit, tax it like the BLTC if you want, no one will care.
matchup commences.
Will never happen. But I’d love to have a full system, and eventually incorporate a ladder system for guilds.
Apply for job at ArenaNet … full access to test servers.
/closethread
Obviously there is very little respect for the good ol’ Long John
+ and track that just gives money would be nice too. I’d default to a money track or (an ascended track), and pick the other options just to unlock skins and collections then.
So developers provide good communication through a serious major event that no game developer ever wants to face… and you want compensation? Okay … get the pitchforks because we should get
Game + Expac = $100 (if you bought each) and add in game running since august 28 2012 (1460 days on 4 year anniversary – 35040 hours total)
…. so let’s see … 100/35040 = 0.00285
0.00285388 * 8.5 (hours down) = 0.0245257
There we go … Every player should receive 2 and half cents
The colours do not equate to enough commanders to warrant more colours. They just mean there are more options to select from. i think many people are not tagging up and this week especially because (the match was effectively split into two matches this week) with the implemntation of the DBL … people are going to get more accustomed and may be checking out the DBL updates, and frustrations for those in heavily unbalanced matchups has past the boiling point, so resting up until the new pairings.
I believe next week will be slightly better post relinks. We will see if anything is actually done to help the t4 situations alongside any other heavily lopsided matchup pairings.
It’s not like Anet is not seeing this, they have, they know … they will try something else. Will it work better or worse, time will tell, but I hope the outcome is at least ‘slightly’ better then the previous linkings.
