Playing as a staff daredevil, i get so many auras on me just fighting normally because of leap finishers on Vault and on the dodge.

It would be nice if there was a trait that added something extra whenever getting aura. Maybe 5 stacks of might whenever you can get aura, or having an aura gives 5 seconds of vigor. I don’t know what would be best, but it would be nice to get a bit of aura support in a trait.

Honestly, the forums is where people come to complain about things that need a fix. Even I come on here to let the devs know when I’m not happy about something. I still love this game. HoT is the most fun I’ve had in the game since it launched back in 2012. I actually been playing more than ever.

Personally, I wouldn’t say it’s a grind. Because it really isn’t intended for people to complete everything in a week. A lot of it is long term goals that you do when you’re playing moderately. I chose to grind, but I didn’t feel obligated to.

Bottom line, I’m having a lot of fun.

I have one set of ascended gear. I have WvW infusion in them because I love solo roaming. I want to start doing fractals. Because I want to start fractals doesn’t mean I want to stop going to WvW. I have to take out all my WvW infusions and put in fractal infusions with agony so I can progrss in Fractals. But after Fractals I want to go back to WvW. Do you see my problem? I have to then put back in my WvW my infusions, and repeat the process every time I want to do Fractals or go to WvW.

This was never a problem for me before, because I always did dungeons. But since dungeons are dead, I’ll do fractals. There needs to be a better way other than needing two sets of ascended gear with the exact same stats, one with WvW infusions and the other with fractal infusions.

I really thought it was good before. Since the spore mechanic on Nuhoch lane was fixed I didn’t have any issues with this meta. It was 50/50. Half of the time we beat it, other half we didn’t. But I was okay with that since people are still learning the fight.

If mastery points weren’t tied to this. If you could make it for groups of up to 5 players. If there was a leader board for it. If there were levels like imagine an Orr survival zombie map, or infiltrating the nightmare court on a rescue. Something like that. It could be the new Super Adventure Box. Just my opinion.

Keep in mind that raiding is required if you want all the masteries available.

Memorizing YouTube videos to gain success isn’t exactly fun.

For most of them, silver should be easy to acquire on your first attempt and gold for a few of them. You only need to memorize a video if you lack the sense to figure something out yourself. The Floor is Lava is the only one that really requires an optimized path for gold.

Progression in vanilla was gained pretty much doing anything you cared to.

Vertical vs horizontal progression. You also do not require all of the masteries and what you do need, you’re given enough of by simply progressing through the game and exploring the maps.

Nothing you said is true. Not one bit of it. If you just wanted to play devil’s advocate, then you failed. You do not get enough mastery points just from playing the game the way you want. Not being able to get silver on first try, or gold after a few tries doesn’t mean you’re lacking sense. Choose your words better because that’s insulting. If you don’t know what you’re talking about and just hopped on the thread to disagree, go watch anime or something. You’re clearly bored.

I can’t emphasize enough how much I hate mini games. I’ve always hated mini games. I don’t mind if they’re optional content, because I don’t ever have to participate. But you’ve locked mastery points behind the mini games. It is extremely frustrating being forced to play mini games. Do not lock player progression behind mini games. They should always be optional content. This was a terrible decision. People who don’t like mini games won’t change their minds because you’ve forced them to play mini games. It only strengthens the dislike.

I know GW2 didn’t scale with crossfire in the 32 bit client. I’m using the 64 bit beta client now. I want to know if getting a second gpu for crossfire will improve my FPS. Right now I play on ultra settings, but it’s not smooth. In an empty zone with little clutter I can get 50 to 60 FPS, but in The Grove when it’s empty i get 25 to 30. In big events, which is mostly all I do in HoT I get about 7 to 10 FPS. It’s very choppy and not that enjoyable.

I should say the graphics aren’t all ultra. I think i have shadows set to medium and character limit set to medium. The rest is at max.

current specs is i5 2500k, 16gb ram, radeon 6870 gpu.
Thinking if I should get a second 6870 to crossfire, if it will scale.

i crafted my first set when they first came out. took me about 2 months. My second set, I got 4 of the pieces from ascended armor chests from pvp. And I got about 3 ascended wep boxes in pvp also.

Your argruement doesnt make any sense… If blocks could only absorb X amount of hits, I could understand your point. It doesnt matter if your hitting someone 1/sec or 100000000000000000000000/sec, a block will block everything that is blockable during its duration.

Mirror blade only ‘hits hard’ if you can control its bounces. Which means being right on top of your target where spatial surge will be doing negligible damage.

Dont get me wrong, Mirror blade needed to be nerfed after the specialization update. It was way over-performing. I would have preferred they cut its base damage by 20%~ and leave the extra bounce, but its fine the way it is now.

My argument makes perfect sense. if there is a class that is very easily kited and attacks are slow and every easy to dodge. if they play well and are able to land a big attack, sometimes that big attack then gets blocked. Times like that it may be okay for an attack to be made unblockable. I think warriors can do that with their signet of might. It’s a utility skill they have to slot and has a decent cd to accompany it.

Greatsword mesmers are the best kiters in the game. Also, they have no problem landing any attacks. Block is a nice counterplay mechanic that mesmer shouldn’t be able to bypass. It’s too much for mesmer to also have an unblockable attack in addition to being great kiters, attacking from all sides at once, and insane on demand burst damage.

This debate on whether or not MB should be blockable. . . . Even if it was blockable…nothing is stopping me from laser-ing my enemy with GS1 then mirror… But either way you are like the 0.000000001% when it comes to this. (In my view at least, I haven’t seen any complaints about MB before this)

Yeah, I’m definitely in the minority.

But definitely other classes have their own balance issues. But their attacks about which should and shouldn’t be unblockable should be for another thread.

I’m a mesmer. Melee only for everything. I use sword/sword and sword/shield. But i can compromise.

Full ascended. Berserker everything, scrapper runes and energy sigil to survive in melee.

I’m interested. In WoW I was high skilled, high geared raider. In this game, I mostly solo, but I need a team to do raids. I’m very laid back. I don’t have a mic for my pc but i can use my phone for voice if there is an android app for it. But i can always listen even without my phone.

Most people dabble in all game modes. I’ve been dragon rank for quite a long time now. I keep getting rank ups but it just stays at 80. It’s meaningless. That’s why the experience pass 80 should go to masteries.

I noticed since coming back to the game, some people are skipping the downed state and death timer penalty when they are about to die by leaving the game. People with fast load times, people who have the game uploaded on an SSD that is also their main drive can load really fast.

I don’t know what can be done to prevent this since people who disconnect shouldn’t be penalized. But it is very annoying to see the same players repeatedly abusing this tactic.

I’m in the same situation as OP. Except it’s just me and my little sister. We were thinking of joining a guild just to get access to a guild hall. We’d really prefer to keep the guild we’ve been in for the last 3 years and build with that. Seems impossible now.

I only run creative builds. And it’s fun. And it’s possible to play it very well. But you will have a difficult time fighting against most meta builds, even if you’re a better play than they are.

I ran a really awesome build during the last beta event. Of course, I got whispers telling me that my build sucks. It’s funny how society stresses individuality but really what people want is conformity, and ostracize you for not doing the norm.

Have fun. Use that creative build. Expect to have a hard time. Maybe in a future build your build will be the new meta. Who knows. Just have fun.

I didn’t read the entire thread, but I wanted to throw my two cents in.

Most condition builds I go up against are extremely tanky. It doesn’t seem fair to me that condition users can be so tanky whilst dealing so much damage.

Someone said that people are just mad that conditions kill you slowly. But I can die pretty quickly to a stacks of conditions that are quickly applied. And cleansing isn’t always an option since it gets reapplied more often than my cleanse skill recharges.

Meta build Eles.

Burn guards.

Trap Rangers (they pile their traps on top of each other. just walking on it is enough to down me without any other actions from them if my cleanse is on CD for even 5 to 6 sec.

Engineers to an extent.

I just don’t like that they can apply a lot of stacks in a very short period of time, and if you don’t clear it within 5 seconds, without any other actions from them, you’re down. It’s just not feasible to always have a cleanse within 5 seconds of being ready to use again.

I personally think that base condition damage should be nerfed and should scale with ferocity and precision. That way condi users also have to make a choice between defense and damage. Overall, there should be not much of a change with condition damage output the way it is now if a person chooses to go full into damage stats.

I want a capture the flag on a big map. two castles, each with two levels, huge field/forest between them, split by a river with a couple bridge, or can swim over. That would make pvp complete for me.

I run with arcane thievery and I’ve noticed problems with it also. I just assumed it was being dodged or maybe I was being blinded at the last instant. It’s possible there could be an issue with it though. I’ll try to pay closer attention each time I use it so I can report back on why it’s failing: cause it’s being dodged/blinded or simply sometimes it’s just broken.

Yes, you “want” a buff because you think sword should do everything. It seems you haven’t realized the point of having different weapons per class.

A lot of people in this thread are really nasty in their attitudes and in the tone in which they’re typing.

Either is fine, but the bad attitudes and nasty tones in which some you respond are unnecessary.

Try to keep a cool head and try not be so emotional. This is a change that’s important to me, but at the same time it’s not something I would feel the need to lash out at anyone about.

I’m trying to get the devs to take notice to something I feel is an issue.

I’m not new to the game and I’m not an amateur player, I’ve been playing mesmer as a main since beta. I have a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about and I have a thorough understanding of the class and all game mechanics.

My biggest gripe with using mainhand sword is that it’s incredibly hard to stay on the target.

- Sigils, perhaps? Sigil of Ice provides chill. You also have phantasms and clones that stay on the target quite nicely

Melee mesmers desperately need is much more access to cripple and weakness.

- Have you heard of Sigils?

Blurred Frenzy needs to give invulnerability instead of evades like it used to. Half of the time you can’t use it because you’ll do more damage to yourself than to the target because of retaliation.

- Or you can watch your opponents buffs and not use it when he has retaliation

All phantasms should spawn the way Phantasmal Disenchanter does, in relation to the target’s location and not the caster.

I actually really like iLeap’s mechanics as it is, the only change I would make to it is for the clone produced to have distortion for the duration that the swap is available, so it can’t die during that time frame.

Do you actually play melee only in pvp? Do 10 matches using only sword in main hand and then tell me it’s fine.

I mostly play PvP, and while I often play condi with scepter, I also play sword often and in particular I have played sword the past week. Blurred frenzy is just an amazing skill, our AA is good in particular counting the boon removal. 3 is a great skill in principle, but I agree is not that reliable. But even with this weighted in, the sword is very good. For mesmer, sword and staff are my 2 favorite weapons.

While I am in principle always happy about improvements, I just think the sword is far from the most urgent. There are bugged traits (duelist’s discipline), clunkier weapons (scepter) and skills (mantras have been good for a short while…) , unbalanced traits (CS, PU), unused skills (Phantasmal Defender, Phantasmal Disenchanter) etc…

Also, just a parenthesis, very few people professions work well in “melee-only”. We have the ability to swap weapons and good ranged weapons (GS/staff). Mesmer is a caster class, it does not have the best tools for melee-only.

I think that mentality is what’s wrong on the forums.
A lot of people have the crab in a barrel mentality.
Everyone is clawing at each other because they feel like it’s not enough resources for what you think needs fixed and what I think needs fixing.

Developers should strive to balance all weapons for pvp, and all traits. I’m not trying to undercut anyone else wants and say that sword should be the number one priority, but I think it needs attention.

I would be happy to run with another melee wep and swap in combat between that wep and sword, unfortunately sword is the only one.

I agree sword has an amazing auto attack, but you will have a very hard time staying on the target to land those hits for a few reasons that need to be looked at.

i’ve been thinking the exact same thing.

From my perspective, they’ve added nothing but (plant-like) wood-carved faces as you can see in the collage I’ve made of all the exclusive faces available in the makeover kit.

I believe more options for character customization to players is always a good thing in any MMO. So I would like for you to get more plant like faces that you like, but at the same time I would love to be able to get more of the faces that I love.

I’ll post a pic of the collage again so you can see in one photo all the faces that have been released. There isn’t much of a variety in them compared to the original set of faces in respect to style, quantity of the carvings in the face, and the depth of those carvings.

Well, while I can’t really say that I just want more ‘human-ish’ faces, I’m sure there’s a middle ground here somewhere. The carvings are pretty necessary since Sylvari lack hair – and by extension, eyebrows.

So you want a bare minimum of carvings or just…Maybe like fronds for eyebrows maybe?

I do like the eyebrow carvings because it does create a more human-like face. I don’t like the absence of features like eyesbrows and nose.

I would like more faces similar to that of my own Sylvari character, Caithe as she appears in game, and the young Caithe’s face as she appears in the concept art. I’ll include some pics I posted earlier so you can see what I mean.

If you notice even my face has some carvings for the eyebrows and for the glow pattern, but they’re not deep carvings. They’re thin and shallow, and aren’t covering huge areas of the face.
