Legendary light armor looks like heavy armor

I agree especially with the butt cap
The entire thing reminds me of desert borderlands
Sure you can’t please everyone with your design and some would complain regardless when they see it. Some people just like to argue so its expected but they should have let us see it regardless because no matter how loudly the angry vocal minority is the silent majority should always dominate. They have the sales data for their own outfits/armor for instance so they should know what design choices and schemes sell and thus what the silent majority prefer.
Nothing screams louder about lack of input than how far the backpacks and weapons float off the light armor. They didn’t want it to clip so they extended the point back but why did they design the legging to stick so far back and be so rigid that they’d clip with everything in the first place. That’s something that should have been picked up on early.
As for female Sylvari and Sylvari in general sometimes certain armor pieces just look dis-proportioned compared to when used on other races. It’s one of the reasons so many people say Sylvari only look good in their racial armor.
I really believe the legendary sets should have been cultural armor, specific to each race. They had more than enough time to make one for each race. It’s been over 2 years. And surely there were concept designs before it was announced. I’m disappointed in the aesthetics but i’m very pleased with the functionality. I just wish they’d make light armor actually look like light armor. Cloth fabrics that flow like actual garments, and give off a softer impression than bulky, and clunky metal look. Anet has amazing artists! Probably some of the best in the industry. I understand they have a lot of faith in their designers, but legendary armor deserved some community feedback before being implemented.

Only the helm and the shoulders of legendary light armor actually looks like light armor. The other 4 slots easily looks like heavy armor. Metal texture, bulky chest, gloves, boots, and the stiff metal butt cape on the pants. I know it’s too late to ask for a change, but Anet, you really should have released some concept art of the designs a long time ago. You should have gotten some feedback from the community on the light and medium sets before going through all the effort. I can’t speak for everyone, but I really don’t like the set on my female sylvari. The shoulders and the helm are okay tho. They look like light armor.
I think mesmer is the best solo class. Will take you longer to kill things, but I had no issue soloing every hero point in HoT using a berserker build with Sword/sword and sword/shield. lots of survivablility and clones to distract mobs. Big events with lots of mobs to attack will suck. But aside from that, mesmer is the most fun class in the game imo.
I like the idea of dual pistol elementalist. Honestly, it doesn’t sound more fun to me than sword ele. And I really like the idea of sword ele, but imagine elemental bullets.
How do you guys find the sets? Tbh im surpise the charr hasnt been impaled by the spikes on the armor. Im actually surprised on how decent to good light armor looks. As for the medioum… its a trenchcoat so i didnt have high hopes from the get go.
after crafting the light armor set and equipping it on my sylvari female mesmer, i gotta say I really dislike it. It’s supposed to be cloth but it looks like metal. And it looks like it’s made just for humans. The whole thing just screams divinity’s reach to me. It’s very bulky and doesn’t flow like a garment as you would expect from crafted light armor. I’m very disappointed. They should have made cultural sets. they had more than enough time to craft a cultural set for each race. Sylvari should have had flowers that bloom and wither when in out and out of combat. Sad day for me, i was really looking forward to this.?
TLDR: Light armor looks more like heavy armor than light because the pieces are stiff metal with a bulky chestplate. Not flowing garments as one would expect of light armor. I’m disappointed.
It’s a bug that only some people encounter when using the Forum ‘Support’ link. You can use the ‘Support’ link from any other guildwars2.com site page to bypass the ‘bug’, such as Releases, Community, Media, Wiki, etc.
Good luck.
thanks
I’m trying to open a ticket, because of a message I never seen before from the website. I will include a picture.
I will include what i planned to talk about in the support ticket, maybe you can just support from here without a ticket. I purposely used full exotic armor on my mesmer the last 6 months because I was using leadership runes in the set. Leadership runes are a grind to get and I planned to just salvage the gear to get the runes back and then install them onto the legendary armor. Two of the gear pieces I used were rewards from the exotic reward gloves from the clocktower jump puzzle during the halloween festival, and the other was the reward shoulders from unlocking the mesmer elite specialization. I know that armor bought with karma can’t be salvaged, but I didn’t know these couldn’t be salvaged since they were rewards for completing objectives. May you please take these two pieces of gear and return me with 2 leadership runes. I planned to never have to grind for these runes again, that’s why i stayed in exotic gear for so long.
thanks
I only play for legendary weapons/armor
Just wanted to add my 2 cents. Warriors are crazy overpowered and is basically playing in easy mode.
What does TDM stand for?
I have hundreds of decorations to deposit, but I just don’t cause I can only deposit one at a time. So my stacks continue to grow. Can you please make it so i can deposit the whole stack at once if I so choose.
Can we have a sigil that increases slow duration by 25%.
And with that, a power based rune for slow. power/ferocity and 45% slow duration. And 1 second of slow per interrupt, 10 sec cd.
Also, a power based rune for Chill.
Sigil of escape’s cd is too long. I don’t think anyone will use for that reason. Just like Sigil of Rage, Cd is so long no one used it.
(edited by Hot Boy.7138)
More options is always a good thing. I don’t think “heavily reducing options” is good for pvp.
Only Anet can say when march 7th is ready.
i’d like sigils to have better visual effects. all of them
At least disenchanter feels a rather decent skill.
But our utility bar feels so fixed now. Portal/Signet of illusion/Blink are almost mandatory skills…There is just no place for other utility.
Yeah I agree completely about the utility bar feeling fixed. A lot of skills I never use simply because I can’t give up the ones I have on my bar already.
I use disenchanter in PvP, but it’s really not efficient since it is so easily cleaved down. And I sometimes use iDefender when I tank deimoss. I think disenchanter is an incredibly strong phantasm. One of the stronest, but there’s not much use for it in raids since there are already dedicated healer and no bosses that needs constant cleanses. Well there is blue guardian, but our auto attack does enough strips for him. If I could have a 4th utility slot, i would probably leave disenchanter on my bar permanently.

i haven’t seen anywhere to preview these weapons in game. Is there a chatcode cause i don’t see it in wardrobe storage?
i bought 4 flowers for almost 80 gold
So I just did the Dragon Stand meta start to finish 200%, opened every pod and ended up with 61. I was reading in earlier post that some people were getting up to 14 per pod? That cannot be right as most of mine were just 1 while others were 3. Looks like I will have to do this 10-11 times to get a full set and compared to other HoT maps that seems a bit much. I think i’ll take other people’s advise and just use water runes on my Mes.
i was getting about 80 to 120 each run. It’s RNG of course, but that was my range. i never got as low as 60. are you sure you’re getting all the pods. There are a lot.
i would only be happy with an axe if i can dual wield them.
You owe me a legendary insight for Keep Construct this week. This fight is bugged and I can’t believe it was left like this without a hotfix. The Phantasms start moon walking backwards away from the boss all on their own. Not to mention the constant wipes just to start the fight. You owe me an L.I. for this one.
I player lockdown power chrono.
from my experience, it counters support Eles, necros, condi rangers, and revenants.
It’s heavily countered by warriors, engineer, d/p thieves, and dragon hunters.
Lightly countered by druids, all other thieves, condi chrono, Greatsword chrono.

I can agree with OP as long as there is an actual, meaningful tradeoff.
The game is obviously designed to present you with choices – extra runspeed or fall damage reduction etc should come at a price; currently a trait, skill or rune slot.
This is why I’m also leery of a mastery-like option of permanent unlocks.
The price is that if you choose 25% movement speed increase, then you don’t get the fall damage trait, and you don’t get the Passive CC breaker trait. You can only choose one.
I really don’t see the issue with people who are pvping for rewards. They pve for rewards. Anet has put a lot of effort into making almost everything rewarding. Now if you’re thinking people that are only here for rewards are probably terrible pvpers. Then don’t worry. they will end up in the division they belong in because the system works.
The only things I would suggest for season 6, and the game overall, is more frequent balance changes and muting toxic players for periods of time from all chat channels.
I really like the top stats category. I don’t think it’s important, but it’s just a fun addition to the score screen at the end. I wish it included boons and boons stripped, along with conditions and conditions cleansed, etc. Maybe other stats I haven’t thought of. It’s just fun to read stats.
Create a separate 4th Utility trait line that is always available and not counted toward the 3 core/specialization trait lines when selecting trait lines.
My idea is for you to pull traits such as fall damage trait, 25% increased movement speed trait, and passive CC break trait into this new Utility trait line. So in any build, everyone will have the option of those traits.
Deciding on which utility trait to use will function like any other trait; they can only be changed outside of combat.
This should also help to create greater build diversity.
Me and my little sister both play in the same house. If it were limited to one IP address it would mean that only one of us could participate per season. Also, I know of at least one married couple that play together, from the same home. I don’t think limiting it to one account per IP address is the answer for those reasons. But I agree that it should be one person per account on the leadership board. I can’t think of any way to do this besides limiting it to IP address.
I use well of Calamity fairly often. The cripple and weakness is very nice and goes well with my build. And if anything, dropping it on top of me offers at least some breathing room for a moment from thieves… sometimes. But it would be nice to see some changes made to make all the wells better suited for pvp. I agree with most of what’s said in this thread so far.
If free to play player is in platinum, then he has the skills to be in platinum. Dont blame others for your loss or lack of skills.
Facts!
I think they are reading the forums and are aware of all the issues involving class balance in pvp. I honestly think they don’t know what to do about balance. And probably will keep making small insignificant changes every 6 months and hope to fix it all with the next expansion. It will give them a chance to make an overhaul for a lot of classes, if not all, and current systems in place. At this point, I’m not expecting any meaningful balance updates.
Op, you will experience the same kind of bullying if you had HoT. People like that will find another reason to be nasty toward you. And to be honest, it really has nothing to do with you. Most of the time these players exhibit the same behavior in almost every match they’re in. So many times I block someone and see them in the next game, or a later game days or weeks later, and people in team/map chat are having the exact same issues with them. Don’t take it personally OP. Gw2 pvp community has become one of the worst in all of the games I’ve played. Just make sure to block them cause you will see them in again in a future game.
I don’t play reaper. I run an power lockdown chrono build. And as someone that destroys necros by total lockdown, they need this skill. It’s not OPed at all.
I think shadow step is okay.
I would actually suggest a rework of Thieves so their weapon skills are based on recharge timers instead of an energy system. The spamming of certain skills I feel makes them too strong.
Someone else solved the issue with this:
‘I ended up deleting everything on my PC that had to do with GW2, re-seated (and put a prop under the end of the card) and did a new download of GW2. Everything is working great right now and I am keeping a super close eye on load, clock/mem speeds and temps. So far everything is great and the temps are right around 50-55C for both CPU and GPU on max settings with GPU hitting 100% load.’
Your best bet, though, is to contact the Tech CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and discuss the issue with them.
Good luck.
This was my post. I have not had any issues so far but I have not been playing much. I also had the frozen screen with buzzing sound. I also was noticing it in PVP as that is all I really play. When this happened I had to hard cycle the PC. After bringing it back up my frame rate was terrible (10-15fps) and I notice my ping would be very high. I have not had any issues in any other games (WoW, Diablo 3, CS:GO).
I am not sure what the actual problem was but my initial experience with support was not very reassuring. Get the usual “run some malware scans”. I can understand this sometime but this was around the 15th email they suggested this. They also suggested settings I couldn’t find and have never seen before (IT is my profession and what I attended college for). After letting them know this they told me to disregard the suggestion.
Good luck! Let us know what you find.
Yeah, I expected to get the usual basic help from them. When I restart the computer, everything is fine again. My ping is still low and the fps is the same. I haven’t had the issue since I made this post. It’s very random.
I’m actually enjoying this season, but everything you said is true. Can’t really refute any of that cause it’s spot on lol. But nonetheless, I’m having fun and the rewards are great.
But most of everything you said is correct and really does need to be addressed. Nothing could be done about the small community though. And I don’t think communication is really that terrible. I see people pinging all the time and giving commands.
-Multiplayer based content for character development. AKA Hero points.
-Vertical Maps.
-Power Creeped Elite Classes.
I love the new hero points. I soloed them all on mesmer and didn’t realize there actually meant for groups until I got to that Mushroom King at TD.
I love the vertical maps. I especially love Tangled Depths.
I agree with you about the power creep.
Thanks for letting me know. My temps are always pretty low so I don’t think it’s that. I’ll contact them for sure. and ty again.
my PC is
i5 2500k
16gb ram
radeon 6870 gpu
I play on high settings. somewhere between medium and ultra.
If it matters, I use a sweetfx filter to make the game more visually appealing to me. Darker skys and more vibrant colors.
Since the wintersday patch. I"m not sure if that’s when it exactly started, but my computer has been freezing up only when playing gw2. The whole computer freezes and does a buzzing sound through the speakers. it happens about once or twice a day. But usually when I’m in pvp. Or maybe that’s because I spend most of my time in pvp. It happened once while in stronghold of the faithful.
It doesn’t crash to blue screen. It just freezes up so GW2 looks like a still frame and it just makes that buzzing sound and no input keys work. I can’t even go to task manager.
Game breaking for me because just now it happened as soon as the pvp match starts. The whole way to fix things is to restart the computer. I restart the computer and rejoin the match and the whole team is mad at me for coming back in the game. They’d rather i just stayed out so they don’t lose rating. Which makes sense. So I just log back out so they don’t lose rating. I’m stuck with deserter, etc.
I don’t know guys. I’m not a phenomenal player, as I’m realizing this season. I have two accounts. And both I worked up to to high gold, low plat. And I strongly believe I could go higher, if I was a better player. I don’t feel like I’m limited by this system. Just limited by my own skill level. I really don’t think an ELO hell exists. There are times I have big losing streaks and I’ll even fall down to silver, but I always work my way back up.
To be honest I like it sometimes. I run an interrupt build. So for me it’s really a fun challenge to lock them down and kill them through interrupts. But if it’s like a class ridiculously high stability uptime, then i don’t like it.
I agree that we need way more significant and more frequent balance changes.
I find myself reporting like 20-50 people a week for verbal abuse that’s not even directed at myself. I don’t even think it’s related to rating. I experience the same in UNranked pvp that has no rating. People just use the anonymity and safety of the internet to release their misery and aggression. All you can do is just put them on block. I don’t even think reporting works to be honest, but I still do it. I have younger siblings that play this game and sometimes they get some very nasty messages. I had to make contact with one of the people cause the message was so disturbing. Just report and block.
A conquest map that looks like the introduction area for Sylvari. The dream when they are fighting the nightmares and bridges form from leaves and branches right before your eyes. That would be cool.
Another conquest map that looks like the inside of the dungeon CoE. Dark, lots of pillars, a network of small rooms. Glass or laser barriers showing weird creatures on the walls.
A large 15v15 arathi basin type of map. With Hills, an island in the middle with bridges connecting to each side. 5 points to control. Large hills you can jump from. no gliding though. Could be located in Skrittsburg, Brisband Wildlands. That giant skritt area. Would be cool
Capture the flag on a map similar to warsong gulch. Large and 8 vs 8. Two big multi level bases on each side, separated by a large field in the middle. I would make this in Caledon Forest actually. One base will look like a sylvari themed structure, the other like a human themed structure.
Lastly, I’d make an underground mine that looks like the volcanic fractal. You gotta get supplies and put in carts, and push the carts to your area to gain points. would push carts the same way you push orbs in raids. I’d make this a 5v5v5. blue team vs red team vs yellow team.
I love this game, but I have to agree with OP. It’s a valid complaint that it is taking entirely way too long to even see a preview of the light and medium sets. This was a major selling point for the expansion. The announced the expansion in january 2015. It launched in November 2015. And here we are in 2017 without even a preview of what we have been working toward. I’d be happy with just a preview to be honest.

Here I’m listing the 69 mastery points of Tyria (according to Wiki 67 which is wrong) but from player’s perspective. Correct me if I’m wrong:
- 1 point – have a level 80 character.
- 10 points – complete all Core Tyria personal story steps.
- 1 point – Map completion of 100% on all Tyria maps.
- 9 points – require you to complete world boss achievements (Triple Trouble 4, Tequatl 10, Karka Queen 1, Queen Chrii’kkt IV 1 achievements)
- 5 Points – Requires you to kill 4 legendries that spawn in Silver wastes. This is only possible on the day that Silver-wastes event completer is in daily other than that most probably there are only enough people in map to see the Annihilator near Red Rock Bastion.
- 5 Points – Requires you to do Jumping puzzles. This includes, Hidden Garden, Retrospective Runaround, Not So secret, Urmaug’s Secret and Weyandt’s Revenge.
- 8 points – Requires you to have LWS2 and just complete all episodes and steps once.
- 8 points – Requires you have LWS2 and complete 60 achievements (including 27 above) from LWS2. This requires you to do each step of story that has an achievement to complete at least twice (on the first time doing the instance secondary achievements are locked).
- 1 point – Requires you to have LWS2 and Complete 27 achievements on 4 LWS2 episodes of Seeds of Truth, Tangled Paths, Echoes of the Past, Point of No Return, Pay 10 gold and grind 1000 geodes in Dry Top.
- 1 point – Requires you to do Fractal, WvW and kill Tequatl and spend 10 silver, lots of Karma and combination of 50 ecto, 40 laurel, 5 gold and 12 guild Commendation).
- 1 point – Requires you to spend about 645gold or 323gold and 16120 Badges of Honor.
- 1 point – Requires you to max crafting level in 3 skills, grind resources or buy them from Trade post , buy 16 recipes for 54 gold and 90 laurel, and craft 16 pieces of Ascended armor, not counting the recipe for insignia which costs 21000 Karma assuming you will use same insignia for all the armor pieces.
- 14 points – Requires you to do fractals hoping you have a great team that don’t mind you not helping them and help you get the achievement.
- 2 Points – Requires you to do Fractals for rest of your life until you get all the weapons drop for you.
- 1 Point – Requires you to stay in Dry top for rest of your life and battle diminishing return and get 16 Unidentified Fossilized Insect dropped for you then craft 16 weapons which also requires you to max out 3 crafting skills.
- 1 Point – Requires you to complete 8 dungeons killing all bosses at least in one path.
First let me thank you for taking the time to list all these mastery points and writing all that you did. Lots of good advice and I appreciate you genuinely wanting to help. Thank you.
I did get 27 core mastery points just from playing the game. Just doing things I enjoy doing. I didn’t feel like I went out of my way for any of those 27 points.
I’ve never been into achievements. Back when I played WoW there were some cool dungeon achieves I used to do with a group of friends, but in this game it doesn’t feel the same. It feels like a chore. And really, when I’m playing games, I don’t do anything that feels like a chore to me.
I looked through the achieves many times. Silverwaste I can do I guess. It’s not a major time investment. Any living story achievements I just won’t do. I’m just not into it. And it’s not a matter of it being easy or hard. Cause none of this is hard really. And even personal story which I refuse to do isn’t hard. Personal story is dumbed down content. Story mode of Arah used to be cool, and even that was nerfed to be mind numbingly boring. And that’s on purpose, so anyone can get it done. Difficulty isn’t a factor. It’s just a long boring chore. The collections are a no go since those are technically achievements too. I collect things I like and will use. Collecting just for the sake of collecting appeals to some, but not to me. But I will probably just suck it up and just do personal story to get the rest of the mastery points I need. But thank you again for taking the time out to write that up for me. It was very nice of you.
And to those that are saying that the game shouldn’t change to suit me, or anyone. I’ll just say this, it’s always nice to have more options for everything. More options have never seemed like a bad thing to me in MMOs. That’s really all it comes down to. If there more options to get core tyria mastery points just from doing the things I like to do in game, then I would have enough. Cause I play enough. I play everyday pretty much. If i don’t have it, it just comes down to there not having enough ways to get it. I’m not asking them to remove existing ways to get mastery points. I’m asking for more ways. You may say, “this is plenty already!” I still say, more options would be nice.
I have close to 4500 games played. There are time I feel upset with the class balance or even class stacking. Both of which are Anet’s job to fix. I never feel frustrated with my teammates for playing the way they want. The other team also has players that are playing the way they want. So I really don’t think it is a factor that is holding me back. I’ve been stuck in gold. I haven’t been able to climb much higher than the border of platinum. I’d say it’s 50% because of my own skill level and 50% because I play off meta builds.
Sometimes coordination on my teams are awful for one reason or many reasons. But all the players on the opposite teams also deal with that. I’ve been praised by my team and the enemy team for being really good, then I have matches when a person on my team is calling me the worst mesmer in the world lol. Take it all with a grain of salt. My outlook in this pvp scene is just to worry about my own contribution.
My goals are just to improve my skills and become more aware of everything going on even when no one is talking to each other. I’m not worrying about rating too much. I did, but when I have have a bad streak of losses, my rating bounces back up to where it was at the next day. So really I don’t think you should stress it. Focus on having fun and improving. That’s how i do it.

I’ve maxed out the Legendary Collection mastery line and I’ve maxed out all but the last Fractal masteries. I don’t have enough points for the last one. And I don’t have any points at all to put into Pact Commander.
I don’t want to do personal story. It’s lame. Living stories are interesting to me, I do those when they are out. I don’t do the achievements within them, but I play through and enjoy the story. I actually spent a lot of time in silverwaste before HoT came out and I have no interest in going back there really. I’ve tried Triple Trouble many times in the past, all failures and there are so many more current events to do. And I play the game everyday. I’ve done it all. I’ was a big solo roamer in WvW, I do a ton of pvp, I used to do a ton of dungeons, I used to do a lot of dynamic events, and I raid regularly.
And I still don’t have enough mastery points. I could get it if I did personal story. I’m not interested even a little bit to do personal story. It’s just not fun. I don’t like it. I’m not the only person who don’t have enough mastery points. For some, the issue may be HoT mastery points, because they don’t raid or w/e.
Anet should make mastery points available in the world that you commune with. Don’t lock character progress behind achieves. Achieves should award bonus stuff like transmutation charges or ascended mats, w/e. They ddin’t raise the level cap for HoT and make mastery system the way to progress your character. But here I am stuck, cause I won’t do personal story. if i could finish the whole thing in 40 minutes, i’d do it. But I read it’s something like 7 to 10 hours. I’m not doing that.
