I’m surprised. I expected this event to be as rewarding and clunky as every other part of the lost shores. I didn’t come. And neither did at least 40% of the community.

If you are going to put in a half decent reward, at least warn us first. I find it all incredibly insulting.

Ascended gear necessary for FoTM ?

You can play the first few levels of Fotm without any ascended gear. No one is precluded from playing fotm. Once you get to the higher levels it will become necessary, but by then you get so much loot in fotm it doesnt rly matter.

Try PUGing fractals with a char lower then 80. I havn’t seen a MMO community this hostile since Runescape.

I expected to dc at by the end. I didn’t even go to the event because of this reason, as well of the fact that the Lost Shores itself was extramly underwhelming. Kitten you all for selling your souls to the Karka.

Btw, fractals was actually good and probably the best dungon, but ascended gear offset that compleatly and then some, enough to also offset the beautiful enviorment of the southsun cove as well.

I used technobabble for inturrupting the high dps karka opening move. It’s toolbelt is confusing speech, which is a respectable confusion AoE.
Edit: I used technobabble for karka before i rage quitted the kittin-ing event. End point: Asura are great for engineer condition builds.

Don’t get me wrong, i think this is a great update and a worthwhile world event, but there are a number of things that i am really dissatisfied with.

5 Few events in Southsun
I turn to Southsun cove for events to grant me xp to compensate for the lack of dungeon groups. I am dissapointed. Vary dissapointed.

4 Bugs
Yup, bugs got #4. and only #4

3 FotM choked out other dungeons
Nobody is interested in doing lesser dungeons, which is highly problematic for us vets who rely on dungs for leveling our new chars.

2 No rabid gear
Don’t get me wrong, Apothecary gear is excelent stat choice, and probably one of my top 3, but rabid gear is highly anticipated by the entire community. The fact that fine transmutation stones are required for lv80 gears, HotW rares being 80 instaid of 75, and general lack of rabid equipment virtually cripples all non elementalit condition builds, which would use apothecary instaid.

1 FotM creates a hostile community
Yup, FotM is making all the PUGs incredibly judgemental and hostile to anyone who is 79 or lower. Nobody gives a kitten about title or Anet points and anything else that would indecate that anyone has more then 5s experience playing GW2, and kick them on the spot. I highly doubt this is the sort of reaction you all would expect from new content, and hope for measures to be taken for future updates. Oh, and this also pretty much applied to MK maze and southsun non-zerg groups.

Engineer Dodge Bomb Removal

To put it simply, i would like the ability to turn off the engineer 5 explosive bomb on dodge. It interfears with stealth. I abuse stealth a lot, especially on dungons.

For less experienced engineers, or really anyone who needs a extra boost in subtleness, you can buy consumables that grant 3s stealth each from a event merchent that shows up next to briarthorn den heart in candelon forest after his event completes. They are a godsend during dungons, espesially during TA up, up.

I’m asking because of a little skirmish with one of those insects the other day in obsidian sanctum. Idiot with a nightmare helm. He kills me, i kill him, i toy with him a bit with excessive traps and chills (in the jumping puzzle). Then he pulls me off my platform with two seidge, trap controls, and a mortar. And then proceeds to bludgeon me with a large stick until dead. How did he pull me?

Just get a coral 80 set and put rabid on all of them. Since coral has precision major, and rabid has condition major, it tends to balance out fairly well, despite the useless power on coral.

Lost Shores: Exploration Capstone Questions

It is heavily implied that the Lost Shores will add new content to GW2 permanently. How will this new content affect the capstone for exploration? Will explorer stars become faded? Will the title ‘Been there. Done that.’ deactivate? Will the gifts of exploration simply vanish, or will this be exploitable to obtain many such gifts with ease?

Engineers should have an option to snipe, period. However, i believe that this is better achieved as a (edit: elite) weapon kit. Of course, one of the Predator’s special effects could be to apply it’s skin to a sniper rifle.

The charr have wonderful snipers. Go look around Diessa and adopt their ideas.

True Progression - Skill Variants

I 100% agree with this. However, it should be still focused to what a weapon is meant to do. For example, greatswords should still focus on brute damage over maneuverability. Or rather, they should focus that way. -_- Ranger GS.

Anyways, the variation should be limited, to ensure a weapon is always able to enforce it’s specific purpose, such as damage and CC conditions on a Necro scepter. However, i also believe that variation should move to even new skills as long as they forfill slimier role to the alternatives. At the vary least we should be able to fine tune our skill bars to our playstyles.

Exploring Rata Summ valley

Ok, i used a revive orb to explore Rata Summ’s valley, and it was cool. Whats down there is a LOT of undeveloped landscape, which looks sorta weird. There is also a lot of water down there, actually pretty steep. And… while i was looking around, i suddenly, almost randomly teleported to the inside of a Peacemaker prison cell, the empty one.

I feel like i had this coming. What does u others think? I jumped off the northeast Asura gate platform, navigate it right and you won’t die until you reach the valley floor, painfully.

Dungons are group. I’m a longtime MMO player, and i would be furious if dungons were made solo-able, with one exception: Arah story. a multiplayer dungon shoudn’t be needed for a single person’s personal story.

Both of my normal boss examples are a bit like that. Vevina and Kohler both require a little technique to complete. Of course, the second puzzle boss i chose was hardly the best. My 2nd grand boss example should be a bit self explanatory, all hail the knight of blood!

This is the idea for a Boss Rush dungon, which would address many player’s issues over too easy content. The Boss Rush would be a dungeon that grows increasingly difficult, potentially indefinably so, but at high rewards the longer you can go.

The idea is that every round would consist of 5 battles. At the end of a round, a chest would appear. Boss Battles and other notable encounters would be pulled from dungeons or other notorious events that are considered suitably unique. It would consist of three regular encounters, one puzzle encounter, and one grand boss. Regular bosses are just regular, and really arn’t as special as puzzle encounters or grand bosses. Puzzle encounters would sometimes not even be bosses, but tricky situational encounters that require quick thinking and forward planning to finish. Grand bosses are boss events that are considered by the player community to be among the 15% hardest of all boss and puzzle events in all dungeons, and notable events. Every successive round all bosses and enemies within the events would receive a statistical 5% stacking boost to everything. Players would fight round after round, until they choose to quit. At the end of each round, a chest would be awarded. At first they would be small chests, but eventually the chests would be vary large. Also, dungon tokens would be awarded at a round’s end based on boss fights from host dungons and their difficulty round.

Challenges are the major part of this. Every boss would have a special challenge, such as a speed kill, avoid using a mechanic that would weaken the boss, or otherwise dilibritly making the boss harder to kill. Completed challenges would grant a additional chest at the end of a round per boss challenge completed. Potentially at higher rounds a extremely skilled party could get 6 dragon chests at a time, but only if they are skilled enough to complete challenges and avoid death.

There would be a death counter. Each player has a allowance of deaths, after each death they would need to wait 30s before being allowed to rejoin the fight. If the deaths within a round reaches the cap, the player would no longer be able to participate in the round further. If the entire party reaches death cap, they would all be able to continue but none would receive any challenge chests or any dungeon tokens at the end of the round. A store item might perhaps allow a entire party to restart a round after all deaths have been reached, but not under any cercumastances to allow a single player, or all, extra deaths. The death allowance would reset every round, and gradually increase, but not fast enough to deal with the increase in boss power.

Engineer Improvements

Generally, only a handful of professions/weapons are truly good. Warriors and Thieves are good, as is the Ranger’s shortbow, even with the nerf. These suggestions would make the Engineer’s weapons more balanced compared to these examples.

Pistol Main Hand
Explosive Shot: Add functionality: steel packed powder. +2 bleed duration

Shield Off Hand
These skills are good, but their cooldowns are too long to be as useful as the off hand pistol. Please consider shortening them.

Rifle: Improve basic damage of most skills slightly. The rifle is a good weapon, but it lacks the skill statistical power to make it as good as most kits.

Med Pack
Reduce cooldown on bandages. Even -2 cooldown would be a huge boost in support potential.

Grenade Kit: Add option to have grande skills used to hit a pre-specified area. Allow Auto Attack. Prehaps toolbelt skill is changed to target a area, granades including auto-attack hit specified area until it is changed? Get creative.

Bomb Kit: add a bit of armor piercing. This is a good kit, but it needs a little more to compensate for range requirements.

Flamethrower: Many players have issues with targeting, adress these. Personally, i think 2-5 are underpowered.

Elixer Gun: 1: +2s bleed. This is a good weapon and needs little improvement, but still could use improvement.

Tool Kit: I have little experience with this kit. Could someone else post ideas for improving it in this thread?

New equipment: Add class mods that grant engineer kits statistical boosts to compensate for lack of natural stats.

Elixers: Good as they are. Mostly. Reduce or Eliminate U’s cast time.

Turrets: A bit weak in my opinion, both offense and defense. Also immobile. Add trait to mobalize them? Reduce cooldown?

Gadgets: Good variety, but a bit gimmicky. Unlike Ranger’s Wilderness Survival, gadgets are rarely seen in any build. Potental exists, but the somewhat weak effects of the gadgets themselves and the long cooldowns hamper this.

Add options to change the chances (load the dice) that determine the odds of certain types of aid granted by supply drop and Elixer X.

Mortar: Still feels slightly under-powered compared to other elite skills. Address this.

Most people have already used or destroyed their old tonics for a simple reason, you can make them using mesterious tonics and the mystic forge.

Heres a alternate suggestion, spend 2g getting a char to 400 artificering using cleric weps and lots of potions, at 400 you can make the required tonics for 5/[1 crystaline dust, 1 water, 1 vicious claw, 1 vicious fang].

First story is sorta your character’s first major accomplishment, after the tutorial which is the first achievement that gives your PC fame and distinction. Second story is a past regret (or prefered ventari saying for Sylvari). Third, Fourth and Fifth stories revolve around the Order, mainly the one you choose. The Sixth, Seventh and Eighth stories (which focus upon opposing Zhatian, often using plot devices established and nurtured across all the other stories, even ones not played) is about working with the P—- to prepare an invasion and infinally invade Orr.

There are Meta-event chains in Queensdale (Shaemoor), Kessex Hills (northeast) and Garridan fields (southwest). once one of these is compleated, doors will have a pumpking over their heads. enter these doors.

Guide: Mad King's Clock Tower

The Mad King’s Clock Tower is a Halloween jump puzzle with a uncanny ability to weed out those without the nerve, reflexes, and spatial awareness to complete it early. It is a cause of much frustration to even those who can master it, and sometimes even called the ‘bane of the [GW2 player community]’. So i’ll put together this list. In reality, this list, the GW2W guide, or even Youtube won’t do much to prepare you, but i will put whatever practical advice and tips i can here.

Start
This part starts off simple. Run up to the dead end, but don’t take unnecessary risks. This isn’t a race… yet. From the earliest you can get up there (without speed boosts) the tower (or rather, everyone and the puzzle itself) will revolve 1 and a half times (3 passings of the Mad King insignia, so be ready at 2 and 1/2) before exploding, laying out the path.
First Chest
Streightfoward jumping. If you have a lot of trouble with this bit, you really should rethink this endevour.
Second Chest
The path is streightfoward. The jumps are not. If you watch Youtube, or read wiki (both reccomended despite my earlier statements), you should focus your attention on this portion. At the top, there will be two beams forked, make a leap of faith from the right to land on the platform with the third chest. KEEP MOVING! the goo will be less then 3 seconds behind you. scamper up the next few pieces vary fast, then take a breather and continue with a bit more control.
Moderetly after the Third Chest
Keep moving forward, take the right path, and jump carefully. at the top of the stairs, you will be revolving around the clock tower’s face. Wait for it to jump open. Really, i don’t have much advice for this bit, and it requires (gastp) * trial and error*.
End Chest

Tips
There are three hard parts in this dungeon. the first is right at the beginning, after the clock tower explodes the path. You need to make these next few jumps as fluidly as possible, with minimal wasted time. Even a small snag can make the puzzle impossible later at the third chest. IF you snag, content yourself with the second (or first) chest, and try not to mess up next time. The second hard part is moderetly after the second chest, a beam, which jumps to a cube which jumps to another beam. This is the hardest jump in the puzzle, but don’t take too long or the goo will reach the third chest before you do! The third hard part is the upturned half-gear shortly after the third chest. It is more slippery (metaphorically speaking) then any other narrow beam in this jumping puzzle, except possible the one involved in the second named hard jump. proceed with caution, but hurry!

Opening the chests requires time, but this time is different then you might expect. The first chest requires a long time to loot, the second a moderate amount. It will probably take more time to decide to loot the third chest and run to and away then to loot it itself, as long as you mash F. Looting the third chest improperly is a quick path to defeat, but it can substantially boost your rewards if you can do it right. Keep in mind that the chests have a cooldown/recharge time, around a few minutes. Rebinding G helps a LOT when looting the third chest.

Try running with a Asura. If there are no Norn or Charr, or they get killed early on, you should probably have a bit more success. Keep in mind this tip focuses more upon spatial awareness then character awareness, the ides is eventually (after around a half hour of trial and error) the character awareness in this puzzle will gradually become more instinctive. Rewards

The First chest awards a few (1-3) bags.
The second chest awards more bags (3-5)
The Third chest awards even more bags. (5-8)
First completion will net you two store tonics and a un-transmutable, un-salvageable lv80 traveler’s footwear approperate to your class. It will come with a superior rune of the mad king. You also get a 10 point achievement.
Subsequent completions award a great many bags. (8-12)

Ehmry Bay Halloween Event Bug

^ I’m also from Ehmry Bay. This is a issue affecting the entire server.

I’ve been looking. Whats wrong with Queensdale is it would only alternate between third events, the third investigator event never starts. The Kessex Hills chain can be completed successively, but then the defend event would immieditly start, and fail usually within 20 seconds.

Doors to Mad Relm Bugged? (Ehmry Bay)

I’ve been looking around the three meta-events for over a hour, none have progressed. While this is likely the result of mass lazyness, many in the local chats have been saying that it has been bugged and hasn’t been open in 8 hours.

If anyone could provide information, such as if other server’s doors are ‘bugged’, or if Ehmry Bay doors have been open at all in the past 8 hours, it would be appreciated.

Please keep in mind that this issue might, if it exists, be unique to a few servers.

Edit: Kessex Hills Meta-Event has been confirmed to be relativity bugged. The meta event would complete, doors would open for around 5 seconds (!!!) then defend events would start, and promptly fail.

I have compleated every achievement except Mad king world (3/4), emissary (3/5) and the party.

CLOCK TOWER IS NOT REQUIRED FOR EMMISARY OF THE MAD KING!

Edit: ^ i learned that the hard way. has sympathy for someone who spent too much time and sanity for a compleatly luckster reward. for what its worth, however, the final leg is compleatly awsome.

The clock tower is a wonderful jumping puzzle, a great experience, and defiantly doing once (if you can spare the time or sanity). My problem is with the luckster reward. A lv80 with horrible stats, a unsalvagable rune, and untransmutable to boot.
