Every time the ogre has come up, I’ve seen people complain that the portal is bugged.
However, it appears to me that the numbers of people affected are increasing, including long-time players such as the OP. I’m willing to believe that there’s something new going on that’s causing more people to fall instead of land.
Perhaps this is related to the newly introduced falling damage bug
I suspect the slot shares its cooldown to prevent people from going in/out of the water to avoid the cooldown — that seems ok. But it does create some annoying issues:
- If you just want to swap skills after entering the water, you have to wait until your land skill cooldowns finish.
- As noted in the original post, cooldowns could be longer than stated if the the skill sharing the slot has a longer cooldown before transition between water/land modes.
There’s probably a happier medium.
I work around this now, by visiting the my account link, so that I’m always logged on before I click on a link.
However, as the OP suggests, this seems like something that could be resolved with some minor tweaks to the cookie/logon process.
I’m okay with the current system. I bought one for one of my toons and, even if I could move it around, I doubt I would — the entire idea of reducing tedium is lost if I have to remember which character last had it, return it to the bank, and take the time for the next toon to grab it before heading out.
That said, if it had been priced at 200 gems each, I would have bought eight. Even at 300 gems each, I would have easily bought far more than 800 gems worth.
We have the princess wand. The pop gun that goes “bop bop.” It’s time for some novelty skins for other weapons:
- Warhorn: the Professional’s Kazoo — the perfect companion for the…
- Sword: the Chef’s Butterknife — cuts through foes like a warm, erm, butterknife through butter.
- Greatsword: the Cook’s Spatula (c’mon, you know that’s what you were thinking when you saw some of the in game GS )
- Mace: the Clown’s Hammer — the bright orange/yellow/red ones that go “doit doit” when clowns try to smash something with them.
- Torch: the Ghost’s Candlestick — the one you expect to see in a haunted house.
- Dagger: the Retractable Dagger (as seen on TV, used by your favorite stuntwomen and stuntmen)
- Focus: the Yo Yo (you know you want one)
- Staff: the Diviner’s Rod — sure, your guardian might only use it for a speed boost, but this one will help you find water, too.
It apparently depends on where you drop — I haven’t had it happen to me in Sharkmaw. Try going down a different way.
However, it appears that something might have changed about falling generally, because I have seen similar symptoms after missing a jump on the way to some vistas. (Long drops sometimes don’t trigger any damage …until 1-2s after hitting the ground and starting to move away. Doesn’t appear to be skill latency or other types of “lag.”)
This is why I don’t like the current system: it forces you to choose whether to loot, rez, fight, or run.
Hateful, those choices in life.. No idea how slow you walk, but I don’t think that walking over to your chest, hitting F, and then getting back to the champ would have taken that long?
Why oh why can’t I just loot AND fight AND rez AND get some badges AND get my legendary at the same time?
I’ve seen loot disappear while I’m rezzing someone else, especially if the foe drops as it runs away while I’m hurrying over to someone else. If the person is at 10% health, I try to help them rally instead of focusing on my loot — I don’t think I should be penalized for that.
The point isn’t whether it’s hard, it’s that it’s distracting — I spam [f] constantly during fighting to make sure I don’t miss anything, because it’s often difficult to see the sparkles, since they don’t always contrast well with the environment. Sometimes, I don’t see the wooden chest until after it’s looted, maybe due to culling.
So, no, it’s not “hard” or “difficult” or “hateful” — it’s just completely annoying to worry about it.
Others might be fine with the current system or even think it’s great fun to go searching for loot during a battle. I think it’s a 20th century mechanic and would prefer true auto-looting or even the WvW mechanic where the bags fly to you.
There are a few waypoints that are set up to always be available. The rest is up to the community to maintain. It works the same in centaur-heavy parts of Kryta, dredge-controlled parts of the Shiverpeaks, Nightmare-controlled bits of… well, you get the idea.
What distinguishes Orr is that the risen are everywhere, so, a priori, we know the Pact has to be vigilant, or we’ll be whispering to each other from the grave. I like that feeling that it’s hard to get around Orr unless we cooperate. And it never takes that many people to wrest control away from the Risen — it just takes time.
I think the loot for temple events is just fine; I think the loot for world events in easier zones is too high — it’s basically identical to the Orrian world events, but without any chance of failure, at least on high pop servers.
The loot isn’t the same: it’s a guaranteed drop — no other foe has that. It’s also a guaranteed minimum: fine loot or better — no other foe has that, either.
I agree that the loot still isn’t on par with the effort — particularly if you solo or duo a champ, you might spend 5-10 minutes on a champ (or more, depending on skill and efficiency of build) and end up with what appears to be worse loot.
That’s balanced a little bit by the fact that champs are usually associated with an event that offers some silver (and karma).
Still, I rarely try to tackle even veterans for just their loot — I do it for the challenge and bragging rights.
This is why I don’t like the current system: it forces you to choose whether to loot, rez, fight, or run.
I try not to worry about disappearing loot: it’s the same as not tagging a foe at all, in that I don’t see the drops.
You won’t receive a response by filing an in-game bug report. For any issue with your account, you should file a support ticket — those do get looked at every day and you will get a response.
There are plenty of weapons that can be made from T1-T4 mats. Armor and trinkets, too, for example:
The reason the mats are relatively worthless is that the things that can be crafted from these items are easily acquired. The prestige value is low, so the demand is low, while the supply is high. There’s nothing wrong with that.
For reference to others, ANet added a few WPs and POIs and your map will not update to include those in your count for the specific zone until you get close to them. There’s not really an easy way to figure it out without getting a list of those new locations and visiting them each.
or for the direct link:
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask
When I first started, I was repping several guilds and it was vaguely helpful to clear guild chat each time, since it reminded me when I changed representation, e.g. Character A belonged to Guild 1 and B belonged to 2, so clearing the chat reminded me that I had changed guilds.
However, now that the game has matured, I think the vast majority of people tend to have most of their toons represent a single guild, so clearing chat is more of an annoyance than a convenience.
What I would prefer to see is that the chat remain (like /local and /map will do). And instead, offer a pop up when swapping toons changing representation. In my example, when changing from A to B, I would get a message (in chat) saying, “you are now representing Guild 2.”
In GW1, you could setup four sets of weapons that you could equip. I’d love to be able to do that in GW2, even if I’m not allowed to change between these during combat. I wouldn’t mind paying gems or coin for the privilege (maybe some sort of upgrade to a bag).
Right now, it’s tedious to manage my inventory to handle several sets of weapons and/or armor. I have the bag space, but I have to search it to find the correct item to swap to. This gets increasingly difficult the more loot you accumulate. I’ve adopted all sorts of work-around to simplify the process.
The point is: that’s not playing the game, that’s moving pixels around my screen.
I don’t think it’s an issue unique to elementalists, though.
Lol wow. These bugs have likely been around from the beginning and we are only now being able to see it. People have probably been getting screwed out of MF since day 1, and omnomberry cream has been worthless other than for boon upkeep this whole time.
The developer just explained it’s a display issue, not one that affects your drops.
I’ve never heard of four of the same item giving a random. Every report I’ve tracked down, it turned out the person wasn’t sure if they accidentally tossed in something else. (If the inscriptions end up cheap enough, I might try experimenting to confirm the OP’s report.)
You don’t have to touch Jormag’s Claw to get credit for the event. As an experiment, I took a badly underpowered character and stayed as far away from the dragon as possible, hitting only the other foes that spawned as part of the event. I had low-damage options, poor health and gear, and still received full credit and the chest.
The locations move around: Dulfy lists all the confirmed possible locations. There should be three dirt-covered and three snow-covered on each server (although they move each day). The problem is that each refugee item is tied to only one of the covered objects: e.g. if you find the snow-covered object tied to the Refugee Goblet, but are looking for the compass or the ship, you’ll get a message saying you already found that object. But there should still be two more snow-covered objects in the same zone and those are supposed to have the remaining items.
It worked this way before the last update, even though many people claimed it was bugged then, too.
I can’t confirm this since I already turned in all six. My recommendation is to do the following:
- File a support ticket (just in case I’m wrong) — at the very least, if enough people are experiencing the issue, ANet will make a special announcement.
- While waiting for an official answer, keep looking in the zone for all three covered objects. If you can’t find all three (or if you do and that doesn’t resolve the issue), change characters and guest to a different server (or wait until server reset), just to eliminate either of those as potential issues.
If I’m correct, that this is simply annoying & confusing, then (2) will work and you can close the support ticket. If I’m wrong, then you’ll help ensure that ANet is aware of the magnitude of the issue, increasing the likelihood this will get urgent attention.
Good luck.
Annoying that the jugs look and are named the same — that’s a visual bug, even if they are mechanically working as designed.
There are all sorts of reasons the TP glitches, most of them are due to an issue on our end of the system. Some are easily resolved by restarting the game. Some require more work to resolve, so if it happens repeatedly, I recommend you contact support. They have a very good track record troubleshooting the underlying issues and preventing them.
There are also some stickies in the technical forums that help, e.g. ensuring you have UAC (i.e. admin permissions) or that your anti-malware software (esp. AVG) is allowing the trading post app (awesomonium_process.exe) to access the web.
I don’t know if this is bugged, but it’s consistent with stacking duration for swiftness from similar sources: Guardian GS-3, mesmer focus-4, and I believe the combo of a Blast finishing a Lightning Field. — each of these grants swiftness, but does not add to an existing duration.
You don’t have to present proof to anet. Instead, file a support ticket with your screenshots and description of the behavior (including times, dates, etc). ANet will investigate. If these guys are botting or otherwise exploiting, cheating, or otherwise going against the rules, ANet will go after them. If they aren’t, no harm is done — specific staff members get paid to review stuff like this, so as long as you have a reasonable suspicion, you should report and then go back to enjoying the game.
yeah, loggin in to you gw1 account and visiting the hall of monuments there, or changing a title, should show you points. then re-log into gw2.
I had to do that to get the GWAMM to display and I know other people who had to do it to complete the linkage for HoM rewards.
Orr is pretty much dead.
That is not my experience. There are always people there, although they tend to be following specific farming paths or working on map completion. Almost always, a respectful request for help to open a temple is met by plenty of people.
Doubly so if playing in primetime is inconvenient.
You might consider reviewing the list of servers, sorting by population, and guesting to the most heavily populated one.
I don’t actually care how hard it is, as long as it’s possible. …Maybe a fight going on that long would even attract an actual person to the area.
One thing that people sometimes do is work with a friend, one person goes to LA and requests help; the other does the same in the relevant map. As noted above, you don’t need tons of people for most of the steps. In fact, I find some events are more likely to fail with more people: the events scale up in difficulty, but the level of coordination among the allies does not increase to match.
The MF display in the hero panel doesn’t always display the correct number, but (according to Ryan Diederich), the true amount of MF is used when you roll for loot. This _sounds- like the same thing (and might apply to other buffs, not just MF).
I don’t think there is a bug so much as there is a naming issue. Each zone has 3 quest items that need to be found, but the location has exactly the same in-game name: dirt-covered or snow-covered object — there is no way to tell if you are looking at covered object 1, 2, or 3.
The easiest work-around is to collect all three before leaving the zone, so there’s no confusion over where to look. However, that’s impractical for a variety of reasons.
As others have pointed out above, the second easiest work-around is to look on your server, and if you can’t find all three (or the third item), guest to another server or try on a different day.
There are a fixed number of locations, but you have to visit them all to be sure that you haven’t missed a possible drop. When you find a __-covered object, you only have a one chance in three that it’s the item you are seeking.
I hope that, next time, ANet uses a different naming system or a color code or something, so it’s easier to know what’s going on. (They also could have allowed you to get duplicate items, but only turn in one per account.)
I pretend that the lodestones aren’t available as drops and buy them on the TP. Lodestones run from 40s to 300s at the moment, an amount that can be earned relatively quickly (depending on how you like to play, anywhere from fractions of hours to a few hours).
You weren’t getting the bonuses you thought you were — the display was glitched. In your example of Golemancer x5 + Ranger x1, you were getting the first five golemancer bonuses, but only the first Ranger bonus.
As Char notes, you were seeing the combination of PvP + PvE runes, which is why it said 7/6. Had you equipped six “of the Ranger” runes in PvE, you would have seen 12/6, but the bonuses would have been the same.
Apparently, this display glitch was fixed, so everything appears as it should.
I don't even know where to begin...

It doesn’t ultimately matter what category you put your ticket into: someone will read it, decide where it belongs, and forward it to the correct team; it won’t languish in support limbo if you file it as a display bug by mistake. (At worst, you might delay getting a useful response.)
There’s another post on the topic at:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Audio-Log-Collector-missing
Dev is asking for additional details.
On the other hand, this created a major limitation on builds.
This is part of the reason why skills are tied to weapons:
- It reduces the complexity of the profession, making it easier to learn the nuances.
- It reduces the interdependency of skills & weapons, simplifying skill re-tuning, since it’s easier for ANet to predict more of the impact that occurs after skills are changed.
Perhaps it’s not the best system and perhaps it’s not implemented as well as possible, but this is the GW2 system: your weapon set determines your 5 main skills and you get to choose a handful of others for your other 5 slots. Hate it or love it, it won’t matter, because it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
I have to admit when I first read about this, I was against it. Like the posters above, I thought limiting the build variations was going to limit my game play. I haven’t found this to be the case. With fewer combinations to choose from, I’m better able to apply my own skill to the game.
This is a SHAME, 4,20gold for 1 single Tea Shade Dye… this is a pure gambling
Yes, no one ever suggested that it was anything but luck that determined which dyes you get. It is always better to spend gold for the dye you want instead of hoping that the dice roll your way.
100 gems costs about 3-3.5g currently and the only dyes on the TP that cost that much are the special ones. If you buy 2 five-packs, you would spend 1,000 gems or 30-35g and you aren’t guaranteed one of the new dyes.
In contrast, if you are willing to spend 25g, you can buy the four cheapest on the TP: the two teals from Frost and Cinders & Flare from Flame.
If you are getting an error attempting to sell, it’s likely an issue on your end. Restarting the game usually resolves it, but if you find yourself needing to do this repeatedly, you should contact support: https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask/
There are several things that can cause the TP to burp and Support can help you troubleshoot them. There’s also some stickies in the technical support forum that address a few of these, e.g. admin rights (called UAC = user access control) and anti-malware software that interrupts the TP.
Good luck.
(edit conflict)
Try deleting some of the items in your inbox, primarily player-sent email.
The mail system has a limit of 10 emails from players and items sent from the TP are included in this limit. For some accounts, the actual limit is less than 10 (often 8 or 6, but sometimes as low as 4).
If that doesn’t work, contact support directly — you will get a personal response and they will help you troubleshoot, neither of which is true when you file a /bug report in-game.
https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask/
Good luck.
Someone in Southsun reported this today, but I cannot replicate their results:
- The Ori nodes (on my server) are exactly where I farmed them on different days since the last reset.
- They are in exactly the same spot reported by reliable posters at orrmaps.com.
I suspect that people are either misremembering the locations, not waiting the 20+ hours for ori node reset, or they forgot that they are guesting on a different server. In particular, the reporter in Southsun claimed to have seen the ori nodes at the bottom of the Karka/champion cave, but that was where they were before the last reset.
It’s hard to imagine that ANet would change the mechanics for how Ori nodes respawn without telling us. And even if they did, why would they apply it to only two of the four relevant maps?
For reference, the wiki shows updates on April 3, 6, 10, 16, and 18. On my server, at least, some of the ori nodes were nearly the same from one update to the next, even across several of the maps.
I don’t like the current implementation of commander: it allows anyone to get the rank, there’s no cheaper guild-only version, and it’s one-size fits all. I’d rather see ANet change the mechanic almost entirely, so that it’s closer to Trait manuals: you have to earn your way up to commanding larger groups.
However, I like the OP’s idea that, while ANet ponders what to do about squads and commanders, that they offer alternative ways to get it:
- WvW badges (obvious choice since commanders are mostly used in WvW)
- Influence (nearly as obvious — this would benefit middle sized guilds who want it for coordinating g-missions).
- Laurels — why not? you can already convert laurels into gold by e.g. buying unidentified dyes and selling them, so this would cut out the middle man.
Sure, why not?
I don’t think ANet needs to worry about the loss of gold sinks: although 100g is a lot, there are tons of people who will never spend coin on the title.
Also they can keep the non-coin prices outrageously higher (e.g. 100g buys 50,000 influence, so maybe the commander tag would be 100,000 influence).
Maybe create a new suggestion that asks for a change just to the UI. Specifically, I think it might work with something like a two part panel for pets:
- Default: all the pets obtainable within GW2 only.
- Special: unlocked with a token obtainable in the HoM; adds the couple of new slots for the HoM pets.
I would support that (or something like it) so that those with unlinked accounts don’t have to see the empty slots. I think it’s a reasonable request, although perhaps not a top priority — maybe something for if/when the upgrade the panel so it’s sortable or when we can keep more than a few pet names.
see: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Molten-Alliance-Mining-Pick-Bug/first#post1882270 (there are many threads about an issue with gathering nodes sometimes giving ruined items; it seems to be related to combat mode, but perhaps not).
I’ve never seen this happen outside of being in combat mode and it seems to happen primarily to ori ore; I’ve never seen it happen to mithril ore and only occasionally with ancient wood. That might be because I am not willing to fight a lot of mobs or risk death over basic ore/wood, but I will try to rush to get ori/ancient nodes.
It happens more often in Orr I think because when temples are contested, you can be suffering an environmental effect, which puts you into combat mode.
It also happens more often with autoattack on.
All of the nicknames I set for people on my friends list have been lost; this happened around the time of last night’s server maintenance. I stopped counting the number of times this has happened a few months ago, after the number reached 8 or 9.
It seems that is more likely to happen if I am online during a server maintenance window and one of the following happens: I’m disconnected, I lose access to /guild or /party chat, or I’m showing as “offline” (even though I am online).
I know you guys have been investigate the root causes of this for some time, so perhaps there’s a way to work-around the issue by preserving the nicknames in a file (perhaps encrypted) on the client side, so it doesn’t matter if there’s an issue connecting to the authentication servers. The file would save the 1:1 relationship between account names and nick names.
Alternatively, it might be better to remove the feature altogether, since it’s unreliable.
When i first read this suggestion, i thought it was the samething i was thinking of. but on re-reading. it doesn’t sound like it. It sounds like its suggesting that no matter where you are when the mobs dies, loot “flies” into your inventory. I disagree with that. what i suggest is an Auto Pickup. Meaning that if you walk within range of a dead mob or bag of loot where the option of press “F to Search” were to show up, it automatically happens. But you have to at least get to the corpse to loot first.
my post describing “Auto Pickup”, give it some love: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Auto-Pickup-for-looting
I’d support an option for auto-pickup, too (and I have, in other posts on the topic). Worked well for Diablo; it would work well here, too.
There are three reasons I still want the option for loot to “fly into inventory:”
- It’s still too hard to see if there’s loot lying around. In GW1, you could hold “alt” and even target loot; in GW2, it often gets lost in the environment. Until this is fixed, I don’t want to depend on random walk to find my drops.
- I don’t want to ever feel that I’m forced to choose between collecting loot and participating in the battle. This could be addressed by making loot remain until picked up, but currently I will miss out if I wait too long, DC, or waypoint out of the immediate area and return.
- I want to spend as much time playing and as little time managing inventory as possible.

They don’t move across maps. Each map has a set number that you can farm (whether on home, guest, or overflow server). After downloading a new client, the locations will be randomized again.
You can visit orrmaps.com for a crowd-sourced location map. This used to be 100% reliable for my server, but recently people have taken to griefing the locations (for some servers). Now, I look at one of the individual maps posted by users who are known for reliable maps.
It’s not an ongoing issue — it affects only certain people and your best bet for resolving it is to contact support: https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/ask.
The trading post runs as a web application and can be affected by many of the same issues that affect them. There are some common solutions posted in the tech section of the forums, including ensuring that your anti-malware software isn’t interfering with it and that your GW2 folder has admin rights (there are stickies about both those issues).
There are some less common issues, too. Near as I can tell, anyone asking support for help is able to resolve these, ending up with the same 99.99% up time for the TP that most of us enjoy.
Good luck.
