yes it is.
Message Body length must at least be 15.
P2W is the ability to buy something NOT OBTAINABLE through normal game-play which IS NOT the case for the items mentioned in my reply before yours, so, no it’s not unlike GW2 which has MANY items ONLY OBTAINABLE by paying for them. THAT is P2W.
So GW2 is already pay 2 win 1 year ago? many skins can’t be obtained through normal game play.
That is correct.

When I’m downed my instinct is to press all of the buttons as fast as I can
Fight that instinct. It’s not helping you.
. . . and never play a ranger with a longbow.
Why not? I can start by using #4 to start healing up then press my #3 that calls my pet over that doubles or triples the rate of healing and is almost immune to incoming attacks getting me up in the middle of all incoming damage and IMO making the ranger/pet healing combo that leaves all others dead. LOL
I said never play a ranger with a longbow because if you press keys randomly, you Point Blank Shot a lot and kitten people off. Which makes it harder to trick people into thinking ranger is a viable class.
The pet res thing is fine.
Ahhhh, that is understandable then. I’m not a button masher opting to use a more thought out use of skills.

They did? Where? In my six years of GW1 all I have seen was the ability to buy character slots, the GW1 game itself and expansions, extra storage, skill unlocks, hero packs and such using RLM, no stupid gems.
No, no stupid gems but Character Slots were available, as well as:
- Bank Expansion Slots (up to 4)
- Game of the Year conversion
- Costumes (I last counted 7 I think)
- Bonus Mission Pack
- Skill Unlock Pack
- Mercenary Hero Slots (Use your alts as heroes!)May I note most of that is available through the GW2 Gem Store, except for the last three, were available in GW1? I’m also not sure but I thought I saw you could get License Keys if your account wasn’t unlocked completely . . . wouldn’t know as I bought mine.
Oh, well, you can look for yourself here
How much of this stuff translates to GW2 when there’s a proper analogue? Most of it.
So, yes. By the way, skill unlock pack? “Pay to win” . . . it’s been ArenaNet’s method since before GW2, obviously. So whatever
The skill unlock packs are also obtainable through normal game-play or by buying them affectively eliminating the need to do the leg-work(for the lazy gamer) in order to get, so, that’s not P2W.

IMO they should discontinue the gem store PERIOD. Everything offered in the gem store should be obtained as a POSSIBLE DROP to make the player-base feel as though they are working for something more than the garbage drops we currently get.
And who’s going to pay for the development cost, maintenance cost, server cost, advertising cost and whatever more there are? you?
A cash shop is perfectly fine as long as it’s maintained in a good and ethical fashion. They did fine with GW1 not having a gem store.
GW1 -did- have a “gem” store.
So obviously they didn’t do fine without one.
Furthermore, GW1 is old technology. It requires alot less maintenance and most importantly, they could throw out massive amounts of expansions in very short times that people bought. That can’t be done in the same way for GW2 since GW2 requires alot more development time due to it’s increased level of complexity in graphics, audio, mechanics etc.
Also an expansion is a 1-time profit, the gem store is long-term.
It’s not healthy to finance your game only on expansions.
You basically need a recurring income.
Hence the cash shop exist and should exist.
Furthermore, if you’ve watched WoodenPotatoes on youtube, there was content that was supposed to come for GW1 and was partially finished, but never completed and released. The reasons aren’t given but they could be of a financial nature. They did? Where? In my six years of GW1 all I have seen was the ability to buy character slots, the GW1 game itself and expansions, extra storage, skill unlocks, hero packs and such using RLM, no stupid gems.
No, instead of having the middle-hand “gems”, you bought stuff directly with money. Your point? It’s the same thing, namely a cash shop. Pointing out that it doesn’t use it’s own currency is rather pointless.
My point is that gems to product in GW2 is overly inflated.

Some people either need to look up the definition for what pay to win is since this clearly is not. People are either misinformed or just trolling and using this as another opportunity to attack the game and/or Anet.
There is no concrete definition of P2W. It varies from person to person. This has been discussed to death on this forum, and P2W for one person is not P2W to another. Being hostile and accusing people of trolling for stating their opinion just makes you look silly and reinforces other’s points.
I disagree. There is the “official” description of “pay to win”, which directly involves paying cash for an advantage, usually in PvP, that cannot be obtained without making the cash purchase and there’s the watered-down version people tend to use to stir up emotions due to the stigma associated with the actual definition. I abhor pay to win. If ANet were to introduce actual pay to win items that gave people unobtainable advantages in WvW unless I pay myself, then they’ll flat out lose me and I’m one of the bigger fanboys out there.
This is not pay to win.
And that is your opinion, and I can respect that, even if we do not agree.
This isn’t opinion. This is based solely on fact, from past experience bumping into actual pay to win games. One little space PvP game, I forget the name, you could go so far in without paying but in order to compete you actually had to purchase special ammo and ships that were significantly better than anything you could earn in the game itself. It was, by the very definition of the word, pay to win. You don’t pay, you can’t win, period.
It’s a lot like the use of the word “theory”. There’s the scientific definition, such as used in the ‘Theory of Evolution’, and the layman definition which equates basically to a guess. A scientific theory is practically as good as it gets, yet you’ll sometimes hear people attack evolution as being ‘only a theory’. They’re using the wrong definition in the wrong context to stir an emotional reaction, just like people using ‘pay to win’ here are. It’s no different.
Any way you spin it “fact or farce” it is still only your opinion as is every other reply/response, only opinions and views.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
You ALREADY can exachange gems for gold. Buying item for gems to have a chance to get more gold is idiotic excuse for P2W.
G2G or RLM2G doesn’t matter, any way you paint THIS PICTURE it’s still turning the game into a P2W scenario.

What I would like to know is why the suggestions forum was sent to the dumpster? All this did was migrate suggestions to the game discussion forum, might as well just shut all the forums down. Was it because they don’t care about our suggestions or what?

I usually join a party at big events, and if i get disco i can go back to the same instance as my party. A temporary solution of course. There should be something better implemented.
That has never worked for me, I’m always in a group for events(guildies) and on the rare occasions that I have DC’d upon reconnection I am always thrown into overflow during large events.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Sorry if I seem a bit daft, but, I still don’t get what you’re referring to. There is so much more to GW1 than the instanced parts. I STILL PLAY GW1 albeit not nearly as often as I once did.
The thing being discussed is that it worked in GW1 and thus it should work here as well.
What I am trying to say is that the system is not built in the same way, and thus it won’t work the same way.
When you disconnected from your instance in GW1 you could reconnect to it (within a certain time) simply because it was an instance created specifically for you.In GW2 the instance is created for every player that currently uses the map, and thus they can’t lock it because of you disconnecting, and thus you can’t just reconnect to the same place in the same way as in GW1.
I got you now in that you were pertaining to the disconnect/reconnect issue and I must dissagree in that I believe it would be very simple by keeping a placeholder on individuals where they are at for a certain pre-determined amount of time effectively showing this person as still there for that placeholders time limit to allow a reconnection to that spot and it not bumping that person during this time limit.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Uhhhh, what?
In GW1 every map you were in (not counting the cities/hubs) were created specifically for you and your party. In GW2 every map is created for the whole server.
Sorry if I seem a bit daft, but, I still don’t get what you’re referring to. There is so much more to GW1 than the instanced parts. I STILL PLAY GW1 albeit not nearly as often as I once did.

Sure wish the search actually worked so people could use it before rehashing an already covered subject.
The ‘mounts’ subject has been ridden to death and rejected so many times.
If the search feature actually worked like a search feature is supposed to then people might use it more and we wouldn’t get admonished by “the authority”(can’t use the real name for fear of being infracted, which may happen anyway) for posting repeat threads that has happened several times on these forums.

GW1 has it. What happened to “the best of GW1 will be in GW2” from the manifesto? Name 3 of the best of GW1 that’s in GW2.
GW1 was built around private instances. GW2 is not, so I don’t really see how we can compare that.

well things to come there was dueling now there is no more
oh well if anyone knows from the wiki comminity pls tell me
Wiki is a source to be taken with a grain of salt for the reason being that I could go on there and say GW2 things to come was going to have tanks resembeling dragons introduced into the game. Not a very reliable source of information without further investigation.

It doesn’t matter how many hours you have, it is how you have spent them. If I spent 10000 hours standing in LA then I wouldn’t be expecting a pre.
If you are actually bothering to go and run dungeons, kill champs and you don’t waste money on a load of crud. Then they are easy to get.
Hmmmm, I have done the underlined part of your statement ad-nauseum with 4500+ hrs in-game, 10,000+ AP and still no pre, if so easy then where’s mine.
So 4.5k hours and done champs, dungeons et al (as in run them for money, not kill one champ then that’s it for the day) and you still haven’t saved enough for a pre? Perhaps you have spent it all on something else.
Your AP is totally and utterly inconsequential. You would have next to no AP if you have just tried to maximise your gold potential over that time and instead would probably have most of the legendaries.
You can pull in 5-10g an hour from champs and/or dungeons. You have always been able to pull in a similar (often greater) amount via one method or another (when factoring in inflation), the old CS farm/s, lode farm, CoF1, SSC T6 farm et al. That is without factoring in what you could make playing the TP.
Put is this way, at a paltry 1g an hour you would have enough for the most expensive pre’s within 1000 hours or so (well a lot faster if truth be told given pres are probably rising faster than inflation). So you should have been able to grab at least four by now. And that is with 1g per hour, which is way lower than you can make.
It is easy to get hold of a pre, as long as you actively look to make and save the gold for it. Who knows, you may drop one in the process.
Simply trusting to fate, playing the toilet, spending all your gold on other stuff and simply expecting one because you’ve logged in for a few thousand hours and have muchos AP, well that’s probably not the best approach.
The OP very well said a precurser DROP. I have made more than enough in my gaming to buy a precurser but I wouldn’t buy one of those overpriced items if you or anyone else gave me the money to do so, I have no plans or desire for one of the God-awful ugly not-so-legendary legendaries, I just want the money that those who must have one will spend on it.

Hmm I thought like HykCraft that the only thing causing ruined mats was the wrong tool, but I am willing to believe the trait thing, I don’t have guardian and warrior, so can’t really say for sure. But on my ele, ranger, thief, necro and engi I never had a problem gathering while in combat… well aside from getting too much damage and having to defend myself instead.
I find it hard to believe that they would have changed it to be harder to gather stuff.
I play only one character that being a lowly UNDERPOWERED Ranger and get ruined mats fairly frequently, although, I don’t know what Ranger trait is causing this, I know without doubt that it’s NOT from using the wrong tool since I am using the permanent gathering tools.

I think when people talk about the manifesto (a statement of intention, not a promise like a lot of people make it out to be) they forget about things like resources available to the devs, or the fact that they have the concurrency numbers.
This isn’t defending every decision they make (IMO, Ascended and LS is poorly implemented, and the lack of communication regarding the implementation of Ascended), but it’s something to consider as to why they didn’t stick with their original intentions.
As for the ‘everything you love about GW1…’ line, who are they aiming that at? Everyone has different things they loved and disliked about the game.
A manifesto by all accounts can be considered a promise, the severe contradiction to anything in this declaration can be considered false advertisment that was used to lure the masses to buy their game under false pretense.

Don’t blame the players for champion farming. Blame ANet for having a terrible reward system. I miss playing MMOs where running dungeons actually DROPPED high end, but it was down to luck. I loathe how we have to farm out lives out then max crafts to get best gear. I hate crafting and imo it should be optional, which it WAS until recently. Hell Exotics (bound when picked up) should drop all the time in dungeons, and ascended BoP with random stats in fractals. Then it comes down to luck but at least you’re seeing cool kitten. The system they have now is boring and grindy. I’m find with grindy if you at least have a CHANCE to randomly get upgrades/cool stuff. I’d rather get BoP Ascended armor every so often from the last bosses of dungeons (even just once a day) and have a chance of getting the good stats you want, rather than grinding my face away then leveling boring and expensive trades just to have good armor. Talk about a zzz fest.
So basically you want exotics handed to you on a silver platter? Good luck on that.
If you really think it’s a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz fest, please go play something else. KthxbaiRunning the content is supposed to be the “challenge” of the game that is to be rewarded, not collecting gold from farming, leveling boring crafts then (buying, because you can’t possibly farm the t6+ mats) to make better stuff, plus all the other run arounds. Yes it’s very zzzzz because there’s not surprising happy moments, its all a long boring road. Unless of course you get a precursor, which is basically like getting something handed to you on a silver platter based entirely on RNG, in which you sell to BUY the boring stuff to make the one thing you actually wanted. And I do play something else. I play PvP, I don’t pve in this game because it’s a joke. Equip all your zerker gear, go nuts mindlessly dodging what little 1 shots you can, rez one another a bunch and #win.
100% what ron says, I too play other things such as solitair, BigFish and Mahjong until dailies reset then I do them and all the Meta bosses hoping for that one drop that will reward me for the effort and time I have spent in playing GW2 while I wait for the release of ESO that will be added to my gaming regimine, let all the fanbois play and act as if all is fine in this great game, they already got theirs, one day RNG might smile upon us lowly nubs, then I can retire.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
For a year I have been trying to find a good reason that these are even still in existence. I have yet to find any reason at all that our drops are in bags. Small, tiny, hard to see and easy to miss bags. Why not true auto loot?
because they would get affected by Magic Find and we cant have nice things.
We don’t get nice things now, so, what’s the difference.
