I miss it a lot, there was SO MUCH MORE teamwork using the trinity in GW1 compared to the zerg-fest in GW2, not to mention better optimization/utilization of many areas of the game.
So having to deal with something else during the fight is not team work. Each class is fighting something different dps is fighting the mobs hp tanks are fighting hate/agro and support is fighting the teams hp they happen to be working beside each other but that is a sad excuse for real team work. Real team work is being able to switch rolls to cover for your team as needed and to be able to communication with other ppl to work together attks on a mob this dose not mean you need to be a dps tank support this just means that your team knows what your going to do and you can tell them what going on.
In the 3 class system you do not need to communicate what your doing you just play a roll and fight for a different goals then say the other classes not to say you cant have team work in this setting but the “work” of real team work is reduced a great deal and is less likely to be real team work when you running a stander system.
Now in a system where there no roll to play every one must tell ppl what they are going to do and they are ability to switch there ability to best fit what the pt needs at that time. So now you can have real team work of communication.
The best example would be something that some what looked downed on but its needs a lot of team work to pull off the stacking on a boss and pushing it into a wall. What this needs is to have ppl move in the right spot well time there def skills to hit there team to buff there attk of there time during the right moment. All though it goes fast if done right it can go very wrong very fast if any one is simply out of places.
You just do not get this in a 3 class system because if one person messes up they are cover because of how over specialized ppl build classes in this system. If a healing over heals they make up for it by adding more mana if a dps dose too much dmg they make up for being more tankly if a tank fails to hold hate they make up for it by building more dps. THIS is not team work this is solo planing and wining by gear and classes.
Most games are moving away from a 3 class system in favor for a soft 3 class system much like you seen in GW2. You can still play a tankly hero a all in glass dps hero and a more support hero in GW2. In some format you about have a 3 class system spvp and the player made gvg / wvw over all.
Both are still a downgrade from 8+ class system in my opinion. If you want to know how real teamwork is supposed to look and play like you should check Warhammer online or Ragnarok. Their teamwork mechanics even carry through massive zergs in both PvE and PvP.
The point is self-reliant classes do not encourage teamwork at all. Nobody is ever shifting roles in GW2, we just blow out our own heals / boons / dps in order to keep ourselves running. The only reason dungeons require 5 people is because all those heals / boons / dps have to add up to a certain number because Monsters are overcharged with stats to compensate for poor ai.
Picking up people is just a low effort way to “unpunish” mistakes made by a large portion of Anets target audience. It has nothing to do with gameplay or teamplay, since it’s not even a matter of gamedesign, but of paymentmodels.
To add to your comment about (self reliant classes) means nothing more than a SINGLE PLAYER MECHANIC used in a mmorpg setting where not EVERYTHING is solable REQUIREING teamwork/play where a co-ordinated effort is required that is not in this game. Don’t get me wrong I kinda like GW2 but would rather love it like I do GW1 that I still play at times.

I have no trouble choosing a target, my problem is my target is CONSTANTLY DROPPED and has been this way since launch with no sign of it being fixed.

Saying the trinity is teamwork based makes absolutely no sense. You are not even working with your teammates, you have a job and they have a job you each do completely autonomously of each other. The only aspect in which it could be considered team play is that you are all in the same place at the same time.
interesting point you raised there, from that point of view there is a lot more teamwork in gw2 than in trinity based combat, you’re always trying to buff your allies as much as you can while maintaining a decently high DPS, you’re always looking around for the unexpected down or whoever needs help, instead of the blindfolded rotations play of the trinity combat.
There is ZERO teamwork in GW2 it’s a ZERG which is lemming like gameplay

I didn’t say nor imply that teamwork was based on the trinity but it sure PROMOTED teamwork.

Based on what?
i don’t see any one…rarely the odd level 80 running through for unlocks and that’s it.
Is it worth retuning to this game at all at this point?
IMO it’s based on accounts created there and NOT active accounts.

Why is it that 75% of people are listing what new CONTENT they would like to see and not the FEATURES they would like to see, they are two very different things. EXAMPLES: (FEATURES); enhance the UI interface, skills revamp and fix bugs, (CONTENT); new dungeons, guild halls and GvG.

I’m sure they’re watching with great interest to see if it works. There’s probably some guy at NCSoft thinking, “dye evaluator? d’oh, why didn’t I think of that….”
Shhhh, don’t give them ideas, the game has enough money grubbing in the gem store.
I identified 98 dyes in one hit the other day (was going to sell them and should have…). If they introduce anything like this then I’m out of here.
LOL, I hold my dyes until I have a stack and then ID them.

Funny thing that comes to mind is that for guilds that are very large(and i’m sure there are a few with 100+ members) that the way this game is set up would cause an overflow which wouldn’t work out.

I would venture to say no.

What do You people think?
i think the living story concept is working well and is profitable for them, so it better that they keep on using the living story platform to distribute new expansion content.Do You also hate LS as I do?
no. i love the living story concept.Do you also think it is detrminetal for this game?
no. i think it makes the game better. How many of You would like to see expansion instead?
not me.i want to see expansion content delivered via living story updates.
this is what they promised earlier.98% of LS introductions is TEMPORARY content, I can say with a likely 99% certainty that the community would prefer PERMANENT content retail expansions.
that was the 1st year of the living story that we experienced.
i am looking forward to more permanent content introduced to us in the 2nd year of the living story updates.
patience, do you not have it?
To this day every LS has been temporary except the horrible gem-store skins that were introduced during a temporary LS update.
incorrect.
southsun cove is a new island. though people rarely go there except for karka queen since it is not very profitable generally otherwise.
super adventure box is permanent content, but it is closed off for maintenance most of the time. we will see it a few times in a year, at least 2 times i think.
bazaar of the winds or something is an annual event, i think.
the queens pavilion is closed for repairs, maintenance, it will be back in the future, permanent content, not temporary.
basically, the first year of the living story seeks to introduce various seasonal new permanent content to us, while in the 2nd year, they will introduce other permanent content such as new maps, i think.

so i expect we get to explore new forest jungle region maps in the future.the majority of the players like the living story concept, they can see the numbers on their end and so they will keep on using the living story platform for new content distribution.
you might change your mind once you start to see more new content being delivered via the living story updates.
I stand corrected about Southsun Cove but it is as you said a ghost town and that is because it’s rubbish like Orr was turned into.

Players aren’t penalized for anything.
In fact, they still get rewarded for not even trying. Run in, tag boss, lay dead for remainder of fight. They still get a reward.
Why would anyone care to know what to do or learn when they get the exact same reward laying dead and going afk?
There is zero incentive to want to improve beyond the people who have the natural incentive to do so.
This guy knows what he is talking about, why even break a sweat if EVERYONE gets the same reward(usually complete and utter garbage) whether they did their part or not. Make rewards reflect the level of work done.

I think people in general are calling it an expansion sized patch because of its size only and not what the GW2 game establishment called it.
We do not even know the size.
Why would people talk about it that way. And why would ANet not give a clarification. The last thing this game needs are more disappointed people because of false expectations. We know how this ended with “an expansion worth of content” before.
By this statement one can assume it to be large; “Due to the size and scope".

Events were suppose to scale for both big and small groups. They were suppose to be able to be done by 100 ppl or 10 ppl and be challenging both ways. Will we ever see this in the game? Something that was suppose to be in by day 1 is no where to be found. The Knights in this LS need 40+ people each and wont scale any lower! Teq needs minimum 80 IF you melee, if not you need 100+. Even Marionette was 100 minimum. I would love to see down scaling implemented like it was meant to be since day 1 of gw2. If you feel the same way leave a post.
The new Teq and Wurm were just create to NOT scale down because of the players that constantly wanted Raids.
Now go for example to the Maw Shaman and you will see an event that scales very well and can also be much fun doing it with 3-4 people.
I just read about people that did the Shatterer with just 6 players.
The Golem should also be easier with less people than with more i’ve heared.
So it works on most old stuff, even if the scaling is not always optimal, but they seem to move away from that at the moment for new stuff to make the Raiders happy. I only hope they abandon the ideas to revamp all the old bosses that way.
Yes Golem does downscale, I have been there with 3 others and completed it.

For the umpteenth time, if this is implemented put a toggle for players to disable the option to participate and I won’t care.
Whut?
Who would make a dueling system save that it have an accept and decline option respectively? That would be broken and lazy.
The on/off toggle would be an auto-decline, I don’t want to have to click a decline or accept option when I have and never will have the inclination to duel.
This doesn’t sound like much more than a case of laziness, really. x:
Also I’m pretty sure when it comes to things like trading or group invites or such in other games, after a minute it just auto-fails. In the case of which they can just implement that and be done with it.
All I can say to this reply is, PFFFFFFT. I don’t want to even see it, PERIOD, that’s not lazy.
Laziness, right.
Are you one of those guys that like to troll and harrass those who decline duel invites? THAT is the MAIN reason why the auto-decline option for me.
Or you could ignore them? The invites that is?
I mean it’s not hard. Personally I don’t go around hunting for duels. And I don’t see how you can troll someone by just inviting them for a duel when they can pay no attention to it and focus on whatever they’re doing.
This is really an issue of you not being able to deal with it, not the design being bad. That’s it. Fix yourself, don’t complain about a mechanic when you don’t have the patience to deal with it. x:
Then you haven’t played many games with dueling(IF ANY by the looks of your response). The fix for myself is to turn the CRAP off.
I’ve played plenty of MMOs, which are one of the main games you’d find dueling in. From Aeria P2W junk to Nexon stuff to WoW GW1 and plenty others. I don’t need to list my entire game library for you. The fix for you is to.. Oh I don’t know? Ignore it. I doubt ANet is going to make it Particularily obnoxious when someone asks you to duel them with some ridiculous icon and emote and prevents you from pressing any buttons or the rest. If they do, well that’s another issue all together.
Your point is moot(of little or no practical value or meaning; purely academic), but, feel free to continue, everyone here can see what your doing(last bit of food tossed your way by me).

I don’t know why you would even bother posting such things. Some people find it annoying to have flashy things pop up on the screen that don’t interest them, especially if it’s “player xxx wants a fight with you”, something which they were against being included in the game in the first place. It’s not your place to tell people to work on themselves or their personalities, especially when the obvious answer would be to have the option to switch it off completely.
If anyone here needs fixing, it’s you, and the way you think. Really bizarre.
In this game you can guest, you have overflows and countless things to do. If someone is really annoying you there are so many ways to get around it, it’s truly ridiculous.
If he can’t be bothered getting around it on his end than it’s really noone’s fault but his in the way he deals with it. And if it’s his issue, he needs to change the way he reacts to it. Not the game needs to change it.
I mean what’s the likelihood of this even happening? I imagine a month after dueling is introduced, only a handful of people would still do it for RP purposes or for fun. And if there’s no Achievements attached to it then I bet only a handful will do it regardless.
Listen buddy(if I may be so bold), I don’t guild-hop or server-hop I consider those two things traitorous so won’t do that when I shouldn’t have to in order to play uninhibited. I think you post just to try and get a rise out of people(insert appropriate word here).

That was one of the things I did not like about GW1. Not a lot of variety and visual progression. I like the way that the dyes work. It pretty much set a new standard of expectation for dyes in other games. But, I find the armor skins themselves somewhat lacking.
I think it’s better in GW2, than in GW1, but I think there still needs to be some imporvement
GW1 had way cooler and variety of armor skins(absolutely loved the tat armors on my monk) and much better dye application. Did you even check all the assorted armors in GW1?

You never close an inactive account.
You never move an inactive account to another server.
Period.
ANet have no idea why it went inactive. ANet have no idea when or if they will be back. If they do return, you do not want to have done anything to tick them off so they do leave permanently. Every player represents a chance of someone buying Gems with cash. If a person plays infrequently then it might mean there’s a higher chance that they would be interested in buying Gems with cash.
The sense of entitlement is strong here. “I want to go to X server but it’s expensive because it’s full. There must be players there ANet can kick somewhere else so I can play there (as well as pay less for the transfer).”
As far as we know server population levels, in terms of how full they are, are dynamic and based on the last X days of player logins or WvW participation. And these number vary day to day.
They would be one of the very few that doesn’t do this, every other online game I have played does this, the most recent of those that I play(-cough-Rift) has done this and was even sent an email by them of it being done.

Having content release every 2 weeks even with game breaking bugs are worth the experience due to the fact you fix them fairly quickly. It’s impossible for any QA team to catch all bugs within a short time window.
Every 2 weeks its always exciting to see what is new in Guild Wars 2, as opposed to other games where there is a public test realm and there’s nothing exciting at all because you know whats happening. Not to mention you have to wait months as opposed to weeks.
I’ve spent over $1000 in gem purchases alone, so keep up the good work.
Not only are there bugs that get introduced each and every LS update in the game but there are bugs that are very prevelant since BETA and release that haven’t been addressed and probably never will be, but, the new bugs introduced compounds a lot of the previous bugs.

IMO what SHOULD be done is to either; #1.) Close all dormant accounts 1yr or older, or, #2.) MOVE all those accounts to a dead server so others wanting the chance to move to a higher tier server a better chance to do so.
How exactly do you plan on determining a dead server ?
I would think the owners/administrators of this game would know this, after all it’s their game.
Still I’m quite interested in how one could determine without error that a server was dead. Let’s assume that you had a graph showing the evolution of players in WvW per minutes, over months. How would you determine, over 24 servers (for US), which one is the dead server where you can just move everyone in it ? Or to help you, which 3 servers are so dead you could just lock them in a dead tier together forever.
I’m baffled by how you can’t understand that the owners of this game can see each and every little dot on every server and know whether that little dot has been active or not and the number of days that little on that obscure server has been or not been active, I know I could see all this as a gaming server administrator.
