Report and block. Then forget about it.
What he said ^^^^. If gold sellers want to spam they will find a way to do it, so, the anti-spam filter needs to be removed and let the players deal with them by reporting and blocking so us legit players can send out messages without being suppressed. Totally stupid idea of suppression.

Because 90% of the original designers of GW2 haven’t already been laid off… (you do realize your dungeon designer is gone right?)
Any source for that or are you just making kitten up?
Not made up, he IS gone and no mention of his replacement.

I’m sure, in the fullness of time, something will be done. It took WoW a very long time to get to their solution. I’m not thinking this is a number one priority for Anet.
Well the market is different now, ANet doesn’t have 8 years to come up with a solution. I don’t even think they have 1 more year. Some games like ESO have the solution before launch. To me it should be a priority, because getting new players into the game should be the number 1 priority.
Listen to you. ESO will be out in like a years time. And it’s going to be flawless at launch and everyone will love it, and it won’t be buggy and it won’t have any problems, so everyone will go there.
Anet has time because all MMOs need time to find their feet. And ESO is going to be subscription and console. I’m not thinking this is going to be a major issue for Guild Wars 2. A lot of people won’t pay a sub for any reason. I think people are putting too much into ESO. It’ll be another SWToR if I don’t miss my guess. It’ll never live up to the hype any more than GW 2 did.
They have other things to work on. Lists of them. If they get that stuff down, the game will be in a much better place to hold into people in the future. The first thing they have to get going is the China launch, because that’s most important. Then with the cash from that, you should start seeing some more improvements.
But I don’t believe the sky is falling. All this stuff takes time. They just came out with an LFG tool and that was, in my opinion, more important. Other things will be be added as time goes on, but this whole, they must do this now or they’re in trouble thing is just not true in my opinion.
Sorry but you are misinformed about ESO it will MOST DEFINITELY BE on PC and only JUST RECENTLY being considered for console. BETA here and can’t wait for release no matter how long it takes, simply awesome game, Bethesda rules and will GLADLY PAY.
People use to say Anet ruled and many people said they would pay for this game before it launched. Many people also said they’d pay for SWToR before it launched and Bioware was as highly regarded as Bethesda…except Bethesda isn’t actually making the game. Maybe I’m not as misinformed as you think.
I also know that Bethesda did interviews with Skyrim which said that they expected 90% of their Skyrim sales to be console sales. So if you think that they didn’t intend to come out on Console as well, I don’t know what to tell you. And by making it console friendly, it’ll probably kill the PC aspect.
At any rate…come back to me in 2-3 years and tell me how your expectations were met. Until then, it’s all just guesswork. But those I’ve heard talk about ESO are saying the very same stuff the GW2 fans said before launch, and the very same stuff the SWToR fans said before launch.
You can’t know how the game will go until the game is live.
Edit: I NEVER said ESO wouldn’t be available on PC, that’s you interpreting what I meant when I said it would be done for console.
I agree with the edit part only because you word things very poorly and was easily interpreted as I did as for the part about the hype given to GW2 that is ONLY BECAUSE ANET did a TOTAL ABOUT FACE to the direction GW2 was headed during the BETA, hell the BETA ran 300 times better than launch day, the game-play was like day and night on release, even a deaf, dumb and blind person would have seen, heard and said the same thing it was so blatantly evident, but, I digress, time to sleep, night, night.

i just started playing this game level 10 and there is hardly anyone in the city and hardly anyone outside
It could be school, you’re on a low pop server and/or they are all guesting to a high pop server to get a chance at beating Tequatl, or, a LOT have quit playing I suspect a bit of the latter two options.

Eurogamer Expo 2013
“We were hoping originally it would take days/weeks for players to defeat Tequatl instead of 12 hours.”
My first attempt with organized group was successful.
With this, hopefully Arena Net realizes that they have to make even harder content.
What bothered me most about that comment is that it show just how ignorant the Devs were of developments made throughout the past years in MMOs.
If ANet had any understanding of their player-base they’d know that a large portion of it has had years and years of experience doing various kinds of raid-encounters.
Raid encounters that are dozens of times more complex and demanding than anything ANet has created to date.
As it stands, it is simply not possible to create beatable content to today’s MMO players that is no beaten within a week (unless hidden behind artificial gating mechanics). If it’s killable, it will die within a week, period.
Blizzard has made sure of that by creating such cutting edge raid-content that players developed this mentality.
It may not apply to the player base at large, but you only need a dedicated few to beat most content.
You know arrogant players falls under this as well, it’s like I beat it, pfffft what’s wrong with the rest of you. It’s like the saying “kitten ed if you do and kitten ed if you don’t”.

Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1
This is the only bit I have a problem with. Because nothing from GW1 exists in GW2.
If anything, the things they did take from Gw1, which were perfectly done, have been done terribly in gw2, like the targeting system (it is garbage in gw2)
RIP GW1, you will be sorely missed.
I remember having different experiences with the targeting system in GW1. I remember it being just as bad as the one we currently have in GW2.
And you can still play GW1 you know? Unless they shut the servers down recently and I missed that announcement somewhere.
Go play GW1 again, I STILL DO, the targeting in GW1 is FAR SUPERIOR to that of GW2.
I have. It still likes to select targets for me that are in an entire different zip code of the map.
Odd, works flawlessly for me, along with SEVERAL other things in GW1 compared to GW2..

Persistent world – nope
Stopped after reading this, figured the rest must have been dead wrong as well. The game is in fact has a persistent world, and has been like that since day 1. Guild Wars 1 didn’t have a persistant world, because when you were questing, it was just you and your team that was in the world, it was instanced created just for you and your team, where as with Guild Wars 2 there are no instances just for you and your team, instead it has a persistent world where everyone plays in.
There are many instances in GW2.

What I don’t understand is WHY ANET hasn’t made the graphical part of the game GPU based over CPU, kinda counter productive IMO.
They bought the engine architecture from another company. Most MMO producers don’t actually write their own engine architecture anymore.
Wildstar did/does/is.

Question – has anyone noticed an increase in fps during heavy load when switching from wifi to a hard line connection?
I play on an Asus G75 with i7 3610m CPU and GTX660m and have 60+ fps in most places except for zerg, which in that case will dip to ~20 fps. I will try a wired connection tonight but last time I checked my bandwidth wireless bandwidth stretched into the 50mbps area.
Any thoughts or comments on that?
Wired connections will ALWAYS be 1000X out of 10 better than wireless.

Spoiler!
~~~ArenaNet lied!~~~I don’t think so.
I think they were pressured to do something drastic and fast to get back the players that were leaving 1 month after the game’s release. Unfortunately, their ascended gear treadmill strategy is similar to someone shooting themselves in the foot.
If you’re going to create a grinding treadmill at least make it fun. At a minimum.
I understand that fun is subjective. However, if chopping trees, whacking rocks and clicking trading post spreadsheets is their idea of fun then they’re going to feel a massive sting in spring 2014.
No, they really did lie. And they absolutely refuse to admit it and own up to their mistakes. Daniel Dociu was the only one who was telling the truth.
I’d say Ree didn’t lie, and the game didnt go against JC’s explanation of it, tbh.
“Didn’t go against JC’s explanation of it”? Then explain what happened to this part? “Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1 and puts it into a persistent world”. Did you play GW1? If so think about it real hard and compare game-play and enhancements.
Dailies don’t hurt casuals. Dailies give casuals more time before the pros get everything. I know people that even with time gating, got an ascended weapon in like five days. That’s without buying stuff from the market place. Without that time gating they’d have gotten it on day one.
Time gating makes it fairer for casuals, not less fair.
Otherwise some people would have thousands of laurels by now, and casuals would have far less.
The part underlined in your response is impossible to do in 5 days, because, it takes 9 days to acquire the time gated mats to even begin constructing your ascended weapon.
I think Errant is trolling you guys.
I dunno…. I know people who seemingly have zero issues with gw2 performance wise. Strangely enough most of them aren’t ppl with killer systems either. I do have to wonder if the game was optimized and play tested for the i5 as I see a ton of ppl with i5 processors that are having better luck than other people who even have much stronger processors. Either way there are obviously issues in my opinion or this thread and countless others would not receive these levels of debate they have if it was just a localized issue or a few ppl with very outdated pc’s.
Out of curiosity, how does your system run at medium settings? That might help narrow it down to whether or not the game’s just not optimized to run at full high settings.
At medium settings I run ok, BUT, my system woiuld be considered outdated it being just a socket 775 Q9650.
Did too! Did not! Did too! Did not! Did too! Did not!
I’m on every day, for many .. many.. in fact.. far too many hours …
I adventure all over the place, and I have fun, because there are things for me to do, that require me put in some effort.
Your rebuttals to my statements are without merit.
If there was no time gating on the materials, you would be spending your time grinding the materials to get the items NOW, which is completely the opposite of having fun, adventuring.
There is this word, that I think younger people may want to study.. it’s called CHALLENGE.
If there is no resistance to you going over the next hill to see what’s there, you’re going to run out of hills pretty darn fast. How can you not see that?
It’s like Pac Man with no ghosts… Super Mario with a hoverboard..
Less coffee, more warm cocoa.
There is no more adventure, I’ve been there and done that, been everywhere, seen everything. I come on only to farm nodes and gather, dailies and do the lame LS updates that take 1 to 2 days tops to complete then log off. To have more adventure there needs to be completly new areas of the map opened up which would take REAL CONTENT ADDED in the form of an expansion, it gets boring doing the same thing over and over again, adnauseum and mine and everyone elses rebuttle DOES have merit, it’s like you saying you’re better than the rest which is untrue you nor I is any better than the next person.
That’s interesting because Anet has said that the engine GW2 is using is a heavily modified and upgraded version of the engine they made for GW1.
That being said maybe that engine was made by someone else?
Sorry, looks like I was (partially) mistaken. The server architecture was designed by Arenanet, but they use the Havok physics engine for all of the dynamics/physics calculations.
What is also funny is in GW1 I get 120+ FPS AND is fully using my SLI cards where in GW2 my SLI cards are barely working and only 1 card has a load.
Shes not on a private server guys. When the new achievements came up Dulfy was there on a live server gathering all the information. We were all on Map Channel spreading out and finding all the teeth, claws, ect.
That is how she gets her information so quickly cause dozens of people are doing it & feeding the information to everyone else & then she takes that information & makes them into guides for the rest of the GW2 population who wants to use them.
She IS on the GW2 BETA/test server and is documented, ask her next time.
I’ve recently observed this issue in a number of boss encounters, namingly Tequatl and the Golem Mk II. I assume however the issue pertains to other encounters as well.
So I’ll be targeting the boss, blasting away…doing my thing and despite not clicking anything and not pressing TAB or any other related button the game will drop my target after roughly 10 – 15 seconds, forcing me to reacquire it.
This happens in the turrets during Tequatl as well where the game will just drop the target for now apparent reason.
Needless to say that this is really annoying and actually impairs game-play quite a bit.
I’m not sure if this is relating to the new targeting system or a game-setting but it would be great if this was fixed asap.
I don’t recall having this issue prior to the patch I must admit.
This has happened for every boss/mob that takes more than a few seconds to kill for me and has been happening since launch, BUT, there is SUPPOSED TO BE a targeting fix coming up on 10/15/13, we’ll see if it’s fixed at that point.
It is “illegal” to use the LFG tool to post ads, which is what selling a dungeon spot through the tool would be.
My god guys why do you even have that much crap in your bank in the first place? The skins I understand, but materials? Seriously? For what possible reason would you ever hoard so many of anything? Just craft up the gear you want for your characters and then SELL the left over junk.
Honestly, do you really need enough clutter in your bank to make a legendary weapon ten times over?
Depending on what crafts you are leveling, it may require you to have far more materials than what is possible to stack. Especially if you’re in the mist of crafting ascended weapons, and it will get worse when ascended armor comes out.
I still highly doubt that you actually need enough materials to fill twelve bank tabs.
I have 10 bank tabs now and only 1 and ½ have empty slots, I farm and provide mats to my guild-mates(I am the go-to guy in my guild for help in this area when needed) as well as my own crafting initiative, so, I NEED more than most because of this.
If they’re for your guild surely they should be in the guild bank?
Evidently you didn’t read my post in its entirety, I SELL them at a severely decreased price from that of the TP AND for my own crafting needs. I really wish people would learn comprehension when reading posts/replies.
You said you “provide mats to [your] guild-mates”. That doesn’t necessarily mean selling them. I agree it doesn’t explicitly mean giving them away either but I assumed with them being your guild that was the case.
Point taken, I should have explained it more fully.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
the loot is the same as before, just a rare chance for ascended (very rare, like 1%)
Wasn’t the same for me, I got LESS than what I got before the Tequatl update. Like I said the guaranteed little chest that pops on right of screen had a dragon chest that had a vial of Karma and 1 green item NOTHING ELSE there wasn’t even a big chest. I’m very dissapointed, I guess that’s all you get for being lucky enough to defeat him in an overflow.
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
The guaranteed rare from Tequatl? I was just in on an event in an overflow that beat this lizard and all I got from it was a dragon chest that came up on side of screen and all that was inside this chest was a slap in the face in the form of a vial of liquid Karma and a useless green item nothing else, no event chest even spawned. Here I thought I was going to get something nice for the effort BUT NOOOOOO.
After the wallet upgrade, if you’re managing to completely fill up 12 bank tabs, you need to seriously reevaluate what you think is worth keeping.
The wallet doesn’t hold mats, that’s what the collections and bank tabs are for.
Then…use your mats as you need them? I don’t see the allure in stockpiling stacks upon stacks of mats “just in case” or “I’m waiting for the price to go up so I can make bank.”
I guess you didn’t read a previous post by me explaining WHY I collect mats, if you had this post wouldn’t be up and I’m not going to repeat myself, go back a few replies.
