Well, if one purchased after release (and was a current player), all files would have previously been downloaded. All clients are the same, it’s only access that is gated by purchase.

If one purchases an expansion before release, one downloads the files as they are released, up to and including Release day patch files.

There may, or may not, be optional avenues to access content. It may be there will be areas that include updrafts, ley-lines, etc., but will also include other means to access said content. Maybe not, since Mounts will replace many of those functions.

We won’t know until after the expansion releases, I guess.

Maps are tied to Living World Episodes. This is an incentive to purchase said Episodes. It’s one of the ways, since Guild Wars 2 is buy-to-play, to create income for the studio. Some players are not interested that much in story, so this is another way to create possible income.

(It’s not a weekend, though; it’s 2 to 3 months of free acquisition.)

It’s just their model, as they don’t have subscription income. They also offer a way to obtain all Living World content, story and maps, at no real cash expediture…through Gold-to-Gems exchange.

It seems fair.

Two speakers and a Bass speaker. Or 5.1 is 4 speakers and a Bass speaker. Or Surround Sound (which is usually 8.1 or 6.1), etc.

I suppose having Reward Tracks for all kinds of rewards would be great for the players, but, perhaps, not so great for the game.

What incentive should ArenaNet use, instead, to lure players to content such as the Living World maps? Would there be enough population in new content after the first week or so (I think I read there is a population issue in WvW and PvP) if players never leave their preferred PvE comfort zones? Or would PvE Reward Tracks cause population issues just like WvW and PvP have?

Maybe it’s that ArenaNet looks at the good of the overall game rather than being unfair to certain sub-groups of the player population.

I don’t know, just a thought.

Maybe seeing maps that can be unlocked through purchase of LW Seasons/Episodes are an incentive to buy.

Maybe offering an extra cost at initial purchase deters potential players from purchasing.

Once purchased, the information and option to purchase more (content or other) or to gain access just through gameplay (Gold-to-Gems) is readily found.

It’s likely the Marketing Team considered the different possibilities and decided this was the preferred plan of action, for now, at least.

Eventually, probably. I would guess not for some time, though, as purchasing Path of Fire does not include some features exclusive to Heart of Thorns, like Scribing and Gen1 Elite Specializations.

Not to mention, they just dropped the price recently. Also, there wouldn’t be any reason to offer a bundle at a discount if one could purchase them separately at the same or less price.

Do you mean 9 copies of Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire? Because the core game GW2 will never be on the site again.

Sorry to hear you find it lacking. It would seem, though, that tens of thousands, if not more, find it, at the very least, adequate. Even preferable to being led around. It’s a core principle of the game, this freedom to do as one desires.

Since you’ve been playing for years, thus making you a ‘Vet’, perhaps you missed the new Tutorial. New players would not miss this experience.

Perhaps, creating a new character and leveling it up naturally would be of benefit to you.

I guess time will tell. I really don’t think this convenience item/area will be character-bound rather than account-wide.

Unlikely to happen, as one of the reasons GW2 was created was to get away from having to build new tutorial/starter areas/stories for each campaign/expansion.

I don’t think offering information in the Wiki (or other sources) is ‘hiding’ it. Every Guild Wars 2 site page has links to the Wiki, the Knowledge Base, Support, the Forums; not to mention the playerbase in-game are usually quite helpful.

It would seem if a player wanted more information about playing, there are plenty of sources, as well as the tutorial tips at every level-up.

Sometimes, one just has to be pro-active. Having freedom in-game is a perk for many.

Make sure your game audio settings, operating audio settings, and physical audio set-up all match. I.e., if using 2.1, then make sure all settings are set to 2.1, if using headphones, make sure all settings are set to headphones, etc.

Well..It’s either do the beginner mission just to unlock masteries(not sure what mission it was) or request anet redesign a bunch of code for one persons outlier situation, a situation that should change organically on its own in little time.

Hardly an outlier; this has been reported countless times. It only started occuring after a particular patch a few months ago. Hopefully, the Devs can address it sooner or later.

We don’t know if the map is gated by the Story, or by acquiring Path of Fire, yet. Nothing prevents someone from bringing a L2 character into Auric Basin, so it may be the same for the Crystal Oasis map.

In the past, players have received refunds for their Digital Deluxe purchase, and then purchased the Ultimate edition.

Why would they offer something in a map that’s, perhaps, not finished, but definitely not accessible?

And, even if they did, what purpose would it serve? I suppose one would get to see new assests, but that’s about it. I imagine the Beta Weekend will take care of that.

If you mouse-over any of the packages for offer on the official store site, you will see it states, “Get immediate access to the core Guild Wars 2 game upon redemption of… (the) serial code”, so all Path of Fire purchases include Guild Wars 2.

Isn’t there one in The Silverwastes? And one at Wintersday?

Or did you mean real cash? If so, then I don’t think that would be appropriate.

^If they bundled the Living World Seasons with the expansions (at an increased price), there would possibly be ‘concerns’ from new players that purchased said bundle, and then found out they could have acquired the LW Seasons at no cost through the Gold-to-Gems exchange.

If they bundled it they shouldn’t increase the price. The point is to entice more new players. They’ll make it up in increased gem sales down the road.

Perhaps, one should redirect their concerns to Digital River, as that is the entity that collects all currencies, and sets the parameters. They would be the ones to use some kind of currency exchange app.

You needed Core for (Season 1 and) Season 2, you needed Heart of Thorns for Season 3, you will need Path of Fire for Season 4. Nothing different for Season 4, as far as access goes, to the previous Seasons.

You can purchase the expansion outside the game from buy.guildwars2.com or from an authorized retailer and once you receive the Serial Key, send that to your friend to create or upgrade her account. (You should not log into other’s accounts, even with permission.)

So, you knew what you were getting, and you were ok with that enough to spend the cash on it. Yet, it wasn’t worth buying.

Regardless, some appreciate the Outfit and the Weapons. No matter what was included in the package, some would adore it, some would be ambivalent, and some would rather have something else. It’s just the way things always go.

Actually, one did not ride Queen Aijundu but ‘rode’ in other Jujundu worms.

Same with Siege Devourers, one rode in them. One’s skill bar completely changed, and you would no longer see your character.

It’s a bit different than riding on the new Mounts. Also, but for the initial ‘engage combat’ skill, one can not fight on Mounts.

It’s always best to research any substantial purchase beforehand.

Should there be Reward Tracks for every part of PvE preference? One for Jumping Puzzles? One for underwater combat? One for World Bosses? One for Story Instances? One for Gathering? One for Activities?

I mean, there are lots of different parts of PvE that certain parts of the playerbase prefer. If the Devs give PvE reward tracks for one segment of PvE, should they not give them for all segments of PvE?

I’m not trying to be contrary, but I’m sure that there are many ‘I prefer to only play this part of the game’ groups of players out there. I’d certainly like a Reward Track for my preferred gameplay. It would only be fair.

You know, I can’t see the Merchants/Bank NPCs in high-population areas now. It doesn’t bother me, I know what they look like, and the Interact button comes up, regardless.
