Unfortunately, no. If the Devs let you keep your loot/progress, they would have to let everyone keep their loot/progress, and that would not be fair to those that don’t/didn’t take part in the Beta Weekend.

I wanted to test this out myself, so when my friend was mounted, I ran alongside on my Asura. He left me in the dust quite quickly.

Thus, the Raptors do travel faster. Also, in the Dev interviews (see the Partner participant videos), the Devs stated all Mounts had speed boosts.

You are the one that states that only ‘real casuals’ will be able to answer your title question, implying that if the answer doesn’t agree with your OP, they have no business posting in your thread.

I play for fun, I don’t find the content especially stressful or overly difficult to complete, with a few exceptions (usually caused by bugs, or not understanding the mechanic(s) of the encounter). I don’t Raid, I’m L2 in Fractals, haven’t set foot in most of the Dungeons, play solo in almost everything. rarely even use the LFG. Haven’t changed my builds since launch, for the most part, as I just don’t understand buildcrafting. How much more casual can one be?

‘Real casuals’? So, a player is only a ‘real casual’ if they agree with you? Does that mean all other players are hardcore?

For me, personally, I think the hardcore groups would laugh at me, and my lack of builds, Mastery Points, and carefree attitude toward gaming.

I made a Demo character. Not giving it a lot of thought, I chose a name. It was taken. I added one letter at the end, and voila! Name not taken.

Surely, we all can come up with names ‘not taken’.

What if the email was created only for GW2, and isn’t ever checked because it isn’t used for anything else?

Regardless, there’s already been an official statement that that isn’t something that happens, or will happen, in the Guild Wars franchise.

Since money spent in the Demo is recovered, I identified about 15 (or so) Unidentifed whatever-they-are-calleds, and acquired 8 of the weapons for the collection. Didn’t seem too bad, as far as that collection went.

I believe Magic Find plays a part in indentification, so maybe using boosters, food, etc. would be helpful.

I enjoyed my time in the map. Crashed several times at first, but later, not at all. I’m looking forward to release; hopefully I can scrounge up the cash needed to purchase.

There will never be character name ‘clean-up’ while the game is still foremost. Would you like to take a break, no matter how long, and come back to find your character names taken?

Would be nice if they’d at least keep a sticky in the forum and update it a few times a day with the last ticket number they finished, so we could at least have some benchmark of how close they are to our ticket. Mine’s been waiting almost a week now.

The person who used to do that was promoted to another job, and the Sticky was eventually removed. There were very few requests for help at that time. Support tickets only seem to back up when there is an expansion release, or other big content drop/change within the game with issues.

I think, perhaps, some players may be expecting larger maps than will be offered. The statement was that the 5 Path of Fire maps will be equal (approximately) to the 10 maps in Heart of Thorns and Living World Season 3. That would mean each map in PoF is about twice as big as HoT (and LWS3)maps each were.

Not that each PoF map is the size of all HoT maps and LWS3 maps, combined.

(I’m not saying this is what the OP is suggesting, just that, judging by some posts, this may be what some players are expecting.)

Beta/Demo characters save no progress. Regular characters do.

If you want to play and have progress saved (and you can only play in non-PoF maps), use your regular characters.

If you want to play in PoF maps, use the Demo character(s). (No progress saved.)

You may be ok. Maybe it’s just before you create a Demo character. It’s been a long time; as stated, I may be mistaken.

Do be aware: You Demo character comes with a complete set of Exotic gear and food, and other goodies. Something like when one uses a L80 Boost.

You have to place them before the Beta Weekend starts, else they won’t be available.

Isn’t that the map where they first added lens flare? I can’t remember.

If post-processing, or maybe shaders? doesn’t affect it, then nothing the players have access to in-game will.

For quite some time, I think almost ever since they changed the ‘My Account’ and other pages, there’s been a display bug where Guild Wars (One) doesn’t show up. If you have any of your Hall of Monuments rewards/APs/etc., then the accounts are linked.

Or you can use the Streaming Client option ‘On Demand’ and only download those areas you need to play.

On Demand asks the game to download content only when the game requires it. This setting is useful for those who have data caps to worry about. This setting may cause issues of models popping in.

Why do some people feel ‘pressured’ to complete all the Mastery Tracks just to receive a reward like Spirit Shards that are commonly acquired from all kinds of sources? I don’t see a big difference between that and having access to a vendor that offers more commonly-acquired rewards.

For some players, it doesn’t matter – having max Mastery Points, having maxed Mastery Tracks, or access to a vendor to spend Mastery Points over max.

For some players, it matters greatly. I have no idea why, but there sure are a lot of posts about feeling pressured to attain those maxed Mastery Tracks.

No need for a Support Ticket; there are ample posts in the Bugs sub-forum about this bug. I’m sure the Devs are working on it, and it will be fixed in an in-coming hotfix or patch.

Creating multiple ticket causes delays and sends you to the back of the queue. Close all subsequent tickets, and only update the original.

Logging into another person’s account is against the UA, and can cause termination.

I believe I am a ‘casual’ player, in the sense that I know nothing about builds, nor really care.

Yet, I was able to do content in Heart of Thorns, finish the Story (though it took me a year), complete every Living World Season 3 map, Story and Meta, …and lived to tell the tale.

If you are having difficulties, there are always players on the forums offering assistance (and, I’m sure, in-game).

I look forward to tomorrow, and the launch of Path of Fire (I just hope my potato computer is up to the task…sigh).

Population changes, at times, after weekly reset/new match-ups. Your friend (and you) can keep an eye on the Server populations, and he can join then, or transfer then. (He can transfer at no charge if he deletes all characters.)

Until then, you two can play in the PvE maps, and level up some of his characters to get ready for WvW. =)

Mounts will scale with the size of the character (not race) chosen in Character Creation. For the largest size of Mount, chose the tallest available character height. For the smallest Mount, chose the shortest available character height.

They can’t change your characters’ choices in the Personal Story. If they could, all those who chose to accept another’s progress while partying, and whose Story arc was moved would have been able to get it moved back with help from the CS Team.

Odd, I don’t have any issue moving the launcher, and the ‘tail’ isn’t fully on-screen. Also, for me, it’s not any larger (nor smaller) than the HoT launcher.

Perhaps, OP is referring to the tutorial pop-ups? I don’t know, but if so, those are there to help guide new players. They were added with the New Player Experience to try to lessen the steepness of the learning curve.

You mean the Personal Story of Core Tyria? You do get a Mastery Point/Achievement for the last instance, as well as several other Achievements for doing the Story.

Or do you mean every possible permutation of the Core Personal Story? Again, there are Achievements for many of the Story steps. I guess they could make one for experiencing every possible path through the Core Personal Story.

They couldn’t make one for every Story chapter in the game, because that’s always growing.
