At supreme, is there not a permanent invincable build? In pretty sure I saw a permanent blocking nomads warrior build!

If you get interrupted by unblockable CC and chained by immob, it’s a pretty sad fate. Not sure if you are mentioning sPvP or WvW.

The worst part about this change is that the class is about to get hella-passive.

After the change, for pvp you will be stuck in a 1v1 role, which means you don’t really have a role.

People who LOVE the class will keep playing with earth/water/arcana, but will enjoy it way less b/c they have lost 4 skills (either attunement-swap bonus as a skill, or dodge-roll skills). This will be a pretty ez-mode spec, and way boring for most people who love the FEEL of the class now. You will hear lots of qq about this spec b/c it will be strong in 1v1’s.

Air/Water/arcana d/d or d/f eles might creep into the 1v1 scene, as well, but will won’t see high-level usage b/c it will also be lack-luster for actual pvp roles.

Auramancer won’t be as bad as it currently is, but will still be worse than d/d. There isn’t enough active access to auras for this play-style to be truly strong, and fire aura is just bad. If the passive on-crit and on-stun access to auras is frequent enough that could see play as well, but once-again, you are building almost entirely for passives.

Scepter is a dead weapon with fresh air damage reduced unless they actually address all the trash skills weighing it down (especially the auto-attacks outside of air).

Staff support will not be a pvp-thing.

This, very much this.

I am traditionally a support player. I really LOVE timing my water-swap-dodge accurately so that I end up healing and cleansing as many teammates as possible. I find that this is the signature move of the DD ele. This, along with the mobility and the versatility, gives me great satisfaction.

Make me choose between Evasive Arcana and Elemental Attunement = Make me choose between two of the core traits that make me enjoy my support role with this class. It does not matter the new traits, they have very little effect on my active support role, therefore they have very little effect on my fun.

Lol…

In addition to the posted builds, I feel Fire-Air-Earth is pretty strong for a skirmish role (signet/hybrid or condi), Air-Earth-Water for Lightning Rod spike or general support with D/F and Fire-Air-Arcane for super yolo zerker staff ele with earth shield and/or lightning hammer. The last variation has been used by Zeromis and Josh. It feel pretty stupid how they beated up my shoutbow warrior (no stability), kicked me off the point and decapped.

She looks like a vampire <.<
… the masquerade, which means yeah, kind of a goth hookah.
Brujahs have the best night clubs ever!!!!

I wanna keep the outfit, it looks whor…. vampire enough and I hate heavy armors on that class for some reason. Just irks me. It should be the 3rd light class.
I mayyyy go some pieces of phalanx because it has that “stony” look and looks ok with fract weapons.
I keep thinking blue should be way too much “in theme”. I want something that breaks the monotony a little…

I like deep blue hair and dark red eyes but I’m more biased to dark red hair and some lighter colored eyes. Are you gonna use the Anise outfit or the phalanx set? What’s about her name?

I honestly think these are serious buffs for WvW guardian and not that much for sPvP. The ridiculous amount of damage modifiers on that elite trait can bring the guard damage to be on par with the second ele in a speed run. The vuln trap can be placed during might stacking and cutscene time so its ramping is not actually that bad. The reveal bonus is a serious counter against Veil at any choke points. With the roling of a new borderland map which has narrow and vertical access, it can be really useful. The only buff i can see for sPvP are the damage modifiers and additional CC.

@ Pink

How to identify rabbits, deer and daily AP farmers:

  • no titles
  • smell of the fields of queensdale
  • wearing worn chain from queensdale
  • don’t cap home point on initial split
  • rushes lord on initial split
  • zergs svanir
  • not using any build relative to pvp what so ever

How to identify players who are here for the competitive scene:

  • wearing pvp titles, most do
  • visible understanding of conquest rotations and combat
  • using pvp builds
  • very rarely ever makes gross errors in rotations or tactics

It is not difficult to identify the separation between competitive players and casual AP farming players. It becomes apparent in a match on the initial split and their first combat engagement.

Actually, my understanding and experience is significantly different:

Novice players in PvP:
-When confronted with obviously bad players, these players rage at them in map chat
-Post on forums about how they get randomly paired with bad players
-Pretend like they’re competitive when they don’t compete in tournaments on a regular basis
-Rant when players don’t rotate according to how they think players should be rotating
-Ostracize people who don’t copy and paste their build off of metabattle

Seasoned Players in PvP:
-Realize that people of varying skill levels yolo Q and don’t rage at them.
-Realize that raging at newer players is pointless and usually say nothing
-Recognize that yolo Q’ing runs the risk of being paired with baddies
-Does not post about the bad Q because it’s pointless
-Realizes that players do not need to run meta builds to gain experience PvP and improve

LOL, the irony !!!

Wow, Jesus, you sound more of a downer than me on a mildly bad day – that’s saying a lot. Stop stealing my role, will ya? I deleted an entire wall of text of whining just so the world wouldn’t implode from our combined pessimism.
(It just annoys me when people drag out the “setting an example” card, or the “I’m telling you what x and y words mean, gonna decide for you” deck. kitten that….)

You shouldn’t think that every class specialisation will get fun mechanics like the mesmer, b.t.w… mes has always been pretty special. Keep your expectations low. No, not that low. Lower. Right-here-in-the-mock low.

P.S. How inappropriate would the Flameseeker be on a mesmer fashion-wise, from 1 to 10? I want it ç_ç

:D I’m good at pessimism, though I usually try not to show it outside of the forums.

As far as Flameseeker, it all depends on the overall style IMO. My Ele uses The Crossing with a green outfit, total “necro” look but I like it, so whatever, it all looks good together, just surprises people when fire comes out of the staff instead of marks. Not sure what I’ll use on my Mesmer, probably the guild one that looks like a tower shield… my mesmer is not your typical mesmer look either… more like Sons of Anarchy or Snake Plisskin.

Maybe Rivetwall?
