A /duel command would be cool. Even introducing a “Foam Tip” item that let you costume brawl with your real skills would be cool. Something different to do when waiting for someone with a friend.
A PvP Arena in some(or all) cities for super casual PvP would also be pretty neat. Just a small, open area with some “seating” around the edge where spectators could safely watch. As you entered the area there would be a sign labeling it as an arena and perhaps an NPC to further explain/enter. Just to keep it casual, there could be a way point and repair hammer right at the entrance, and no timer on respawns. Oh, and no loot, otherwise people will get serious about it.
Would have to add an option to auto-deny duel requests, or else chaos will ensue.
Am I the only one who can’t open the site? If yes, can someone give me a brief explanation on what’s going on?
No, the biggest problem truly, is the lack of being able to zoom the camera while holding down right-click via the mouse scroll wheel.
In GW1 they have a system where if the guild leader is inactive for about six months, or so, then it will pass down leadership to the nearest active officer.
In FFXIV if the leader isn’t on for 90+ Days, they get demoted to the lowest rank and the leader is automatically passed to the next highest rank. GW2 should probably think about doing the same.
90 days is pretty harsh, but yeah.
Considering FFXIV allows you to have a PS4, PS3, PC on the same account (Have to buy each platform separate then attach it via code input to your main account), with Remote play option via PSVita for PS4/PS3… you can easily just login to any of those for a minute and it resets the countdown.
Far fewer choices in pve for those who only do pve. This is an amazingly crappy change. I thought we were going to get more options not less. You already did Less and people HATED it. You can’t be that clueless Anet.
Add more options!
It’s a good change.
It rewards people who enjoy all areas of content, incentivizes players to try other forms of content, and is possible for people who refuse to expand their horizons. If you’re intent on only doing PvE, then you’ve got a self-imposed restriction that is making it more difficult than it needs to be for you.
Note that this message comes to you from a guy who pretty much ONLY does PvE and who will need to expand his own horizons now.
Indeed, and that’s why I’m sticking to PvE, I absolutely hate PvP, and don’t want any part of it, even if I have done a few arenas and WvW a couple times, I still don’t like it one bit.
I don’t even know what a WvW ruin looks like, not to mention I can’t solo WvW Sentries let alone players.
Attempt to PvP.

Has anybody played a Nexon game since 2006 or so? Terrible customer support, yes.
Vindictus and Dragon’s nest are both largely gambling, or cosmetic. While you could theoretically get something good from gambling, you are probably looking at hundreds of dollars worth of doing it to get something good.
Otherwise you could sink 25$ into it or so and get nothing of any consequence. Get dyes, sell them on the market place. Same thing here would completely gear out a character.
Meanwhile you could just play the game.
I couldn’t even play Dragon’s Nest without the entire game being forced to left-shift or down-shift off screen, disallowing me to see any NPC Dialog text, etc. I don’t like Vindictus much because it’s an action game. (Plus, I like TERA more in terms of action.)
I would quit the game if there was PVP, even if it was only semi-forced like RIFT / WoW.
Nexon has horrible customer support.
ffxiv tanking is more about getting first aggro, and using enmity skills at the right time, gear mostly will effect how well you survive, not so much how much hate you keep. it also gets easier as you level. More to the point, people will always complain, in any game. But it doesnt happen all the time, with all people. There will always be some good times too.
I’ve tried that many times, I had a NIN out-aggro my aggro generation combination because he was using a VERY specific combo that over-DPSes the class. I’ve had BLMs do this too, but only when they use flare. It doesn’t matter anymore, I quit tanking.
Let’s not forget NINs and BRDs yelling at you if you’re a WAR and spam overpower and “Wasting” all your TP and they still out-aggro you.
I watched this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRnw05Boi8I
And I just had to comment:
Okay, so, what if I can’t dodge easily, and can’t seem to learn about timing? (I’ve tried numerous times, and I can’t get dodging down, mainly when lots of people are on screen, causing FPS Lag.) Also, what ranged DPS classes should I go with for burst with low cools? I hate PVP by the way, and don’t really care for best-in-slot, or min/max builds since I’m not really hardcore enough for that.
The problem with merging games together is that some people absolutely hate forced open world PVP, I don’t like games like that, so I shy away from them (WoW, RIFT, Black Desert, Black Gold, ArcheAge, etc.)
If they ever decide to continue the personal story in the future, then you’ll have more content to deal with. Otherwise, you’re right, content that includes raids, dungeons, etc. requires you to get other people to help you, and some of them may be upset with your choice of skills / etc. on your class. I don’t really know how to deal with this though, I tried to deal with tanking in FFXIV, but item levels and people with best-in-slot just mess that up. I don’t like dealing a ton of damage either really, I like to support people or protect them. But it’s hard to do this when they’re yelling at me for losing aggro / enmity on things I cannot control easily.
Finding a Guild is pretty easy, but finding one that still shares your original pre-megaserver server is harder now more than ever. Plus, some Guilds require you to use voice chat, and I’m not ready to do that yet.
The first steps of the LS2 fills nicely the LS1 story, when you investigate about Scarlet, her reasons and that stuff , is all you actually need to know from LS1.
If you want to know a more detailed story look at the wiki : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World_season_1
Thanks for this, I never logged in during LS1 really save for one thing, and even then, I only was on for about an hour before going to another MMORPG / game.
Original thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/A-client-for-Linux/first
I would like to bring this topic back from the dead by creating a new one. I didn’t see a new suggestions forum anywhere, so I’m posting it here instead. With the release of OpenGL 4.5+ One of DirectX’s best features was made possible in the OpenGL API/etc. What does this mean? It means that companies may consider OpenGL as an actual contender again much like the days of DirectX 8 and earlier.
Not to mention, Guild Wars 2 actually already has an OGL Port (IE: Mac Beta) and an impressive MMORPG known as Final Fantasy XIV is working on a Mac Native Port as well. It wouldn’t surprise me when companies start working on Linux ports as well, considering Android is Linux, and that SteamOS is Linux.
Nope. It’ll continue to show up as long as you’re in the starting zones. Once you level and leave the zone for a new one, it’ll go away.
A shame. Mainly because it also points to it when the skill is on cooldown.
Is it worth a try to get achievements from the Hall of Monuments? I presume, the population in GW1 is really low now and it can be really hard to grind achievements for GW2 through it. According to wiki you also need pvp titles for full achievement points. But with almost dead population it may be impossible to grind pvp titles.
If you plan to go ranger, definitely, because there’s some unique pets you can only get from there, even though it’s mainly just aesthetic purposes, it will show you liked the GW series as a whole. I have half a mind to get GW1 as well.
It’s annoying that EVERY TIME I go to low HP… an arrow points at my healing skill. Is there ANY way to turn it off without leveling up? :V
A friend of mine had an ultra heal-only build for Elementalist, but one of the major things that allowed him to do such was a passive or skill he obtained through non-trainer means, IE: through some intricate water/swimming area. Does anyone know what he meant? And how do I obtain this as well?
This still needs a nerf. I couldn’t announce events at times due to it.
Was this fixed? I’m not willing to level up a character to see if it was.
This still is a problem….
OpenGL port would be profitable actually. Because the OGL specification does not require you to download any extra run-times. As OGL is included with video card drivers, including Windows 98 and newer. Not to mention, being open-source means that OGL gets updated quicker, and gets bugs fixed a lot faster.
When uninstalling it says EXIT_SURVEY and the subdomain is 403 Forbidden:
http://exitsurvey.guildwars2.com/
I’d like to say, I enjoyed my time while it lasted, but I plan to subscribe to FFXIV: ARR from here on.
Samsung Laptops also get bricked (not all) if you run Linux on them (Unless you don’t use UEFI):
The below image shows a specific NPC that will take you to where the bandits took said item:
However, choosing the check mark dialog option has her do nothing at all, she just stands there.
Never underestimate a troll’s ability to abuse the system.
This. I don’t step foot into OpenPVP areas due to this, among my horrible skill at Player Killing.
talk to them first
no reply no res
saves you supporting the botter or saves a real person gear damage
Some bots respond though with “hello” or “hi”
I’ve seen bots that goes to a waypoint and comeback when they die. This will not fix that.
This too. Even in free to play MMORPGs.
Many threads have been made. Not a one still got the attention and had it done.
It also means that you get your normal level’s worth of experience from events, since you’re doing the events at the event’s level.
Steam can’t be installed on Windows 8 tablets, and that’s why Gabe Newell ported source natively to linux, and steam.

When I have my turrets out, after so many minutes, the turret placement skill returns, and I can no longer detonate the turret, or use the overcharging skills. See screenshots below:
I didn’t really mean it to be incorporated to the guild system though, it’d be separate so that you could earn it without being in a guild, or representing one. Of course, you wouldn’t be able to move into a guild fortress if you weren’t in a guild though.
You have to have equal amounts PVP and PVE though for it to work well. Minis could be stored as decorations, randomly running around, etc. Playing with specific decorations. if we get a mount system, a single mount could be put into the home to play with them while you aren’t using the mount. Etc.
Balance suggestion for mobs…
Skritt Bottle lobbers can throw stuff farther than a rifle’s reach and then some.
You’re going to have to have a good high-end mobile FX processor (probably the highest end) for a laptop if you go AMD on a processor.
Alienware M17xR4
i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.3GHZ (8 CPUs)
32768MB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7970M
2x OCZ Vertex 4 256GB SSDs in Raid 0
Windows 7 Ultimate 64
“8 CPUs” Nope, totally wrong:
http://ark.intel.com/products/64899/Intel-Core-i7-3610QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz
4 Processor cores, 8 threads. Only the cores count as physical CPU parts.
Announcing when maw event is up is the reason why I get chat suppressed so often. I agree it needs to be more lax.
the game’s naming system was actually supposed to allow for duplicate names. It even says so in the naming manual that if another character has the same name as you, your little numbers at the end of your account name would appear next to the character names if on the same screen / etc. This is also why the buddy system has you add account names, rather than character names.
You could also do it like PSO2, a housing system that’s a room, rather than an actual house. You could always add an upgrade system that makes you move into a physical house, with purchasable farming upgrades, etc.
Maybe have a character influence system alongside the guild influence system for this reason. (Like “Legend Points” or “Servitude” or something.)
Looks like solid suggestions to me. You get a gold star.
Number 3 is quite abusive. The damage goes up for the amount of players are in the AOE? Most game developers would slap you over the head with a 9-iron if you said that. (Ramping, meaning going up. If you meant going down, you need to say “Scale down the damage based on more enemies.”)
The 5th reason is why there’s a cap. If the game engine has to calculate so many damage calculations (IE animations bouncing off a player to another player, and just simple numbers appearing), it’d lag harder than wv3, it would also lag wv3 more so, causing even the highest CPUs to bugger out, forcing GW2’s dev team to optimize the game.
WvW actually can be brought to justice with a processor that’s even better than the QMs listed above. However, due to how powerful it is, it’s a bit… expensive, to say the least, and not many places carry it for laptop configurations. The Intel Core i7-3920XM is what I’m talking about. But only get it if you really, REALLY want to get 45~50+ fps in wvw, as it scores a 2031 in single-thread performance: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
The only one out of the others that scores closest is way down at 1,857, the Intel Core i7-3720QM. You’re not going to be overclocking these very easily, so it’s up to you how you want to play it out. NVIDIA mobile chips don’t perform as well as they should. For instance, a GTX 690 is about as powerful as a, let’s say, 590 in terms of desktop power, maybe a little better. NVIDIA’s laptop platform isn’t as good as AMD, that’s for sure.
The lowest price you’re going to get for a 3920XM is probably with Lenovo, at about 2200 USD.

If there is no “Unhelpful” option, then this would be a great idea. But if there is, so abusive.
However, due to how the community acts, the overall idea isn’t as great as you think. For instance, there are humans who tread into the asuran starting area, to do quests (hearts) there, and totally ignore any new user asurans. If you’re kiting a bunch of angry mobs that somehow spawned right on top of you due to three other users being in the same event area when the event spawned, they’ll ignore you and continue on their merry way doing the event even though you cannot do the event due to so many mobs chasing you. If you die, too bad, they won’t revive you / revive you after the event that you didn’t get exp for because you didn’t hit the target.
That’s how annoying it is playing in the newbie areas. I’ve experienced this three to five times already. Both Kaineng and Devona’s Rest servers.

1 duels is a must
And the ability to auto-reject duels.
If u have 2 videocards (1 for each monitor no need for clorssire/SLI compatibility) and a powerfull enough CPU or a dual CPU mobo is possible
Virtualization can’t use SLI / Crossfire cards, you have to have one dedicated to the VM specifically for this, but since the main system will still use the card, it still wouldn’t be any good.
That said, Virtualization never will be an option due to how un-optimized GW2 is. As said, your best bet—nay, your ONLY option, is to build / buy another computer.
Splitting RAM and cores is not a good idea either. What if I wanted to take control of your right arm/hand with my brain, and you have the rest of your body :V
(edited by Iyeru.5240)
I’d like to suggest auto-rejecting guild invites for those not really wanting a guild on a specific character.
PVP is just a means to an end I say. More PVE content is a welcome sight if it comes. Why is PVP a means to an end? Mainly because PVP is all about ego boosting and tearing down social communities, rather than bringing them together, etc. Sure, you have ranks, and whatnot, but isn’t that still means to ego boosting? I mean, if someone was the top PVPer, wouldn’t they want to boast about it? Sure, they earned it and whatnot, but that’s all PVP is good for really.
If there are equips and perks you can get just from PVP’ing, then there’s something wrong with the game’s developers. Sure, they can get more money by forcing people to spend money to get in-game coin to get better equips to help get to the top, but that’s on the publisher’s end more so than the developer’s.
I’ll never join any guild that forces me to PVP / OpenPVP. Speaking of OpenPVP, it’s a lot worse than normal PVP I’ll say. OpenPVP allows one to attack someone without their consent, and often, this results in players camping specific choke points, etc. (Jumping puzzles, hidden alcoves, etc.) Further, if you don’t have an AOE attack somewhere, stealth users will get the best of you, always.
That’s why you’ll never see me set one foot into Wv3.
(edited by Iyeru.5240)
Also, this isn’t a subs-based game, so there is no reason to be logged in at every waking moment. Many players will be playing GW2 alongside their regular sub game and may not log in for months on end. Likewise, people who have to stop playing for a multitude of reasons (ill health, flooded out, financial reasons for not maintaining an internet subscription etc) should not be punished because somewhere out there, someone and their small circle of friends believe they are entitled to other peoples’ character names because they were late to the party.
I don’t agree with inactive deletions that’s for sure. But if a character was deleted by the user, and the name is not available (only that account can create the name again) then Guild Wars 2 needs to re-think name availability.
On most free to play publishers, they clear inactive names after a full month (31 days, no more, no less) of the character being deleted. I agree with deleting them after a suitable amount of time has passed.
TERA, although going free to play soon, had it so that your character name was available the instant you deleted it.
