That is a leaked 13.2 Beta driver (do take heavy note of the words “leaked” and “beta”), for anyone interested.
From the looks of it, the leaked version may not have the new memory stuff in it.
Hope to get a copy of the beta soon. Too bad it’s not on the AMD Website =/
the ring around the healing / aoe spells is supposed to be weird glitchy puzzle piece glowing floaty things.
…and you give focus to another fullscreen application, GuildWars2 sound gets re-focused even if you have it set to mute sound when in the background.
Removing the ability to SINGLE TARGET attack through gates is also a good thing, since you can do that in hoelbrak with the ice wurm event.
Racing like in .hack? Maybe have ridable moas on a special race track? :V
The ability to auto-reject duels if duels are added.
No, it’s a 60hz LCD 2ms AOC monitor. Its about 5 years old.
If you got it in the USA, it likely is 59.9 Hz. AOC isn’t as good as you may think either. But flashing textures usually is the GPU’s fault. Since the rest of the screen doesn’t flash.
Permanent tools could have the same durability deal when you die and whatnot by the way. Anyone give that a thought?
I’m glad server transfers are going paid. It’s a bit silly that it’s currently free.
They’re just re-textured star gates. What do you expect? It would be awesome if it were more like TERA, and when you hit one of them, you’d go into a warp tunnel of sorts. This warp tunnel is actually the loading screen if you use the Pegasuses.
AMD processor and graphics are subpar to intel and nvidia. Since gw2 is cpu bound the graphics card don’t play as big of a role.
In GW2, these are only AMD Radeon Issues:
- Flashing (Disappearing, not shiny / white flashing) textures at various distances, usually the landscape.
- Game engine grid appearing in random flat areas.
- When on “Small” GUI size, the trading post is almost unreadable (this is due to how AMD Anti-aliases, etc.) Turn on Morphological Filtering if you want to see it happen on Steam’s Overlay for all games, as well as Skyrim’s HUD Menus.
NVIDIA doesn’t have these problems. So yeah, it has something to do with the GPU too. As for the CPU, Intel makes a new socket type for every major processor line (don’t count die shrinks, which get a name change as well). I don’t like that about Intel, nor do I like how Intel’s newer motherboards are starting to lock out Linux from booting.

I see no mention at all about any Optimizations to come at all in 2013, you guys really like to only appeal to Intel + NVIDIA don’t you.
I hope they don’t make a horrible advert like these guys:
Soulbound equipment is there to make sure that hackers can’t trade your equips, it also means that to change the economy, you have to put more effort into it than to put a left-over equip you no longer use on the market that’s epic. I don’t really get account bound nowadays though, it’s better to have one binding system, not two.
Titles that give stats are a big no-no. Why? Costumes with stats are a big no-no. So, titles are too. I don’t care if you have to do a lot to earn them. Someone, always, somewhere, will not be able to earn them. This would be an unfair advantage in pvp (duels too if added) and Wv3. These are what caused Kitsu Saga from Aeria Games to die, besides the whole in-game botting system (Like Angels Online and Ether Saga Odyssey have.) The stats on the cash shop costumes / titles were insane. if you didn’t spend hundreds of dollars, you’d suck at GvG, PK, PVP, etc.
As I said earlier, if a voice chat system is implemented, I would leave the game if no disable system was implemented, even if it was only for parties, I’d want it off for me, always. I’m not going to explain why, as I don’t have to.
Inspecting players is a bit of a troublesome thing. In LaTale, most people have it off because they don’t want you seeing their build. Honestly, you should force it so that everyone can inspect others, so it would be fair to everyone. (This is how TERA handles it.)
HP Numbers / percents on mob bars is off, for good reason. You can’t tell when a monster is going to die, so you ALWAYS have to be ready for something, a surprise, doesn’t matter.
Reason why magic find exists, is so that there’s a chance not to get the items you want, so that you have to run the event / boss again (This is mainly for sociable purposes.)
One user mentioned solo dungeons, but IMMEDIATELY went and talked about parties. If you’re going to make solo dungeons, it has to be solo, not in a party. The solo dungeon would drop no equipment or items of any kind save for the quest reward (This is how Eden Eternal does solo dungeons) and you get no exp from individual mobs. (Also how they do it.)
I’m not moving on any of these opinions. I’ve had enough of people suggesting them, and I’ve experienced them too many times to listen to others. This is how it is, and you should wake up to reality of free to plays you’ve never played.

So if three jerks cooperate then they can ruin two other people’s play session? voting is not the answer.
It’s a whole lot better than two jerks being able to ruin your day, or one jerk who the system won’t let you kick. I have played games where vote kicking wasn’t allowed or was bugged, and yes, there really were people who would afk to prevent you from progessing through mechanics that needed a full party just to troll. There were also bots who would just auto-follow and reap the rewards.
Absolutely any system is going to have issues, but a majority vote is probably the lesser of these evils.
In TF2 servers nowadays, you have to donate to get !votekick privvies QQ.
Not entirely sure where you got your impressions from.
When I searched the trade market for legendary tier shields, there were none. I had “Show available only” unchecked.
10,000 RPM is still a bit slow, and is almost defying the limit a harddrive can go at. You’d be safer with an SSD, even if it’s more expensive, and takes far less power to run.
Windows Experience Index is a laugh and a half.
2. Being able to talk to all guilds you are apart of would be nice. It would get people to participate in more than one guild. It should be simple to let us choose which colors each guild gets. We can keep rep on one guild. But I just don’t want to ignore other guilds by representing the guild that I’m currently playing with in the game.
“alliance” chat would be nice actually. All guilds you are allied to. For instance, when you speak to a guild you aren’t in currently, the guild receives:
Character Name [Ally]: Text
When you receive guild chat from that guild in return,
Character Name [Guild Name]: Text
This would only be accessible through a new chat tab (Only received text from the guilds to your character, the guild will still see the text via guild chat), and cannot be set on other tabs, as it would clutter too much of the chat.
Or even more complex:
/gc guildName Text
Where /gc = /guildchat

You need to note though, a window can’t be vsync’d. No matter if it’s pretending to be full-screen or not.
Not correct, most console emulators support windowed vsync, and so do alot of games. Flash also, is typically run in a full screen window and also supports vsync.
There are a few cases where fullscreen windows will not permit vsync easily (Mixing GDI elements with Accelerated back buffers being one of them) but it can be done; its just a pain in the kitten to do it.
NT6’s compositor makes it a bit easier by utilising dwm to generate a full screen window, and vertical sync is usually not required there.
GW2 does support Vsync in windowed fullscreen, though the simple screenshots i have taken will not prove this, since they cannot demonstrate in action frame changes that well.
I never have compositing enabled.
Just wondering the feasibility to have a new set of vending skills that allow you to do things like repair armour for folks or sell items without having to go through black lion. Just a thought.
That would defeat the purpose of ncsoft making real life money off of repair capsules.
Reminds me of team stacking in TF2 for some reason… which is bannable on pretty much all TF2 servers.
Readyboost can’t improve load times. Only the harddrive the OS is on and the physical RAM. Since Readyboost is still limited by the main HDD speed.
Your GeForce 330M is more like a Geforce 220 or so in terms of Desktop power. Your processor however is pretty low spec:
http://ark.intel.com/products/47341/Intel-Core-i5-520M-Processor-3M-Cache-2_40-GHz
For instance, it can only have up to 8 GB of RAM attached, and the memory speed can only go up to 1066 MHz.
if your monitor / screen can only support up to, let’s say, 1024 × 768 pixels, then that’d be a limit as well.
The kicking system should be a voting system, similar to how popular TF2 mods work. The entire party has to vote on whether or not that specific user is kicked. Of course, that specific user has to vote too. If you are only in a party with you and said user, the party system will auto-disband the party rather than calling said vote.
what i would like to see come back from gw1 is personalization of skills, gw1 armor, guild halls, creator of guild cannot be kicked, more to explore, more class types. To me that made it more of a personal game, The guild halls would give our guild a place to do special events.
In a normal guild environment in any MMORPG. The founder of the guild can be kicked if they are not the current leader of said guild. This also happens in real life with governments, etc. So why should the game world be any different? Of course, the guild still has a little line telling you who originally founded the guild, which is good enough.
As for guild events, they should only give the currency to get guild upgrades… not EXP, not items, not gold/coins. This way, all events are geared toward the involvement of the guild, nothing else.
Your first bug is tagged as wishlist, and rightly so. The second one is not in WebKit, it’s in ubuntuforums, judging by the description. The third bug is also not in CUPS, but in hplip. Sorry, it’s not that developers are stubborn.
The webkit bug only happens in webkit based browsers. Not Gecko-based or IE-based. (Sometimes Opera does it, but not always. But Opera doesn’t use webkit, it uses Presto iirc.)
As for the CUPS issue, it only happened with that specific HP Printer. I tried it on two other printers, and it worked fine. Even a Kodak printer did not do this.
I stand corrected. Sorry. That behavior is with ndiswrapper, right?
No this happens after I ran install_bcm43xx_firmware after the upgrade.
Then I’m waiting for a bug report link.
Right after you send me a link to something you’ve posted around 2 years ago o.o
Linux bugs are often left alone if developers don’t want to touch them or make changes even though it’s a popular feature. Linux developers are stubborn like that (usually, especially system-based developers for file systems, kernel/drivers, etc.) You’re better off talking to a republican about tax increases on the wealthy.
But don’t let that deter you. If you’re persistent enough, and get the idea to enough people, they will help make the bug / feature more known, and maybe, just maybe, it’ll get into the next version:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xubuntu-meta/+bug/504341
(P.S: That’s one of my bug/wishlist/feature requests.)
And here’s a bug I’ve had on giftwrap for over 3 years:

And one on webkit:

In 10 days, will be three years:

I want to look like a metal man version of me :V
Believe it or not, the water still reflects color of the landscape based on light (similar to how it works in real life if there’s too many waves to distinguish features.) Honestly, I think water in this game should have an option for both sides. If you want severely detailed surface water, fine. But what about people who want to see out of the water in certain areas? You can’t, there is no filtration / animation / screen that causes the overworld terrain to be pushed through some wobbly morphing feature. But wait, there is! It’s on the little raindrops that occur when you surface :V
GW2 team derped.
That’s an exploit >.<
Acting maliciously to offend a user, or bait them into acting maliciously to a troll / baiting user to get banned so that the troll can live in peace forever…
is an exploit of human emotions and psychology. So it doesn’t matter if it’s an exploit for in the game, or an exploit for real life, an exploit is an exploit.
I would love to see voice chat in game only with party/squad members. Esspecially within dungeons because it is really time consuming to type just one sentence.
And the ability to turn it off. I will always keep it off, due to people who just like to rage via voice >_> (IE: TF2.)
You need to note though, a window can’t be vsync’d. No matter if it’s pretending to be full-screen or not.
This can happen even on powerful PCs when you first load the game. I get it only for a minute or less before the sounds work, and it only happens after loading the game since closing it completely.
We have them a lot in Phantasy Star Online 2, and they cause passives to be placed on enemies when they occur. For instance, in a magnetic storm in the desert, machines are less powerful (slightly.) But visibility is severely reduced to just several meters in front of you. Often times, this is coupled with dynamic events where you have to use your minimap to root out the mobs / etc.
So I agree, GW2 needs it too. Heck, PSO2 is free to play.
It took you 3 months to get to 80? Wow. Took me all of 2 weeks, playing about 3 hours a week. Not rushing, exploring ect. I couldn’t stop the XP rolling in
A Rested experience system where you get an experience multiplier for every x hours you’ve been logged off in your home instance (what? at least it’ll get some use) would be better than a straight up jar of XP, since you’d still have to work your way to level 80.
All someone has to do is create 4+ alts not touch the game for just under 2 months (210 days / 4 = 52 days) and bam. Insta-level 80 number 2.
I won’t be getting level 80 in a few weeks, even though I play more than 5 hours a day. It’s just how I roll :P I don’t mind raw grinding, I don’t mind rerolling, I don’t mind anything that limits me from getting to the level cap fast. Slow and steady I say.
That’s why PSO2 will be online only in comparison to the original PSO.
Why not use scRGB instead?
Sell your gift card? So you can buy it at Gamestop or the like?
Shields are considered armor (literally, even though it’s in the weapon category), so they only go up to exotic currently iirc. Only actual Legendary grade has effects.
Karma could also be used to buy special tokens called “Asura Waypoint Token” and it would allow you to travel to one waypoint you’ve uncovered for free. Similarly, it could be traded, or re-sold for karma.
Another thing we really need is optimization. We already know this, but what kind of optimization? Besides porting to 64-bit, and just overall optimizing it for more cores, there are a few things to do:
- Vectorize the 2D Portions of the HUD/GUI. — This would allow the game engine to not require loading of textures into system memory, and rather, render them from a single file through text, or code. Vectors would also make it so that your HUD/GUI would always fit any monitor resolution.
- Make the light / luminosity of objects, etc. dependant on sources of dynamic lighting. — This is important for GPU specific optimizations. When you use light sources rather than specular highlights based on what degree the texture is facing, the object becomes more realistic. Of course, you still need some form of specular highlight. But I direct you to the vector suggestion in the previous bullet point. Speculars are just 2D wrapped on a mesh that is 3D, so this would be easily done if the 3D engine sent the dimensions of the 3D object as if it were 2D for each plane of the model, and then you could make the vectors spread out over the top of that.
- Learn from other games and engines. If you don’t know how to do proper HUD/GUI scaling with minimal performance loss, seek out help from games like Team Fortress 2 by Valve. The commentary mode in the game will help your game immensely. Similarly, code from the Unreal engine could be useful if you reverse engineer it for your engine.
- Don’t use animation for LOD switching — just use minimal animations such as fading in and out, no noise-like animation like the HUD/GUI.
Mounts would be nice too.

If that rate goes too high, and you have enough real life money, you can always head to gamestop and grab 1200 Gems via a card (It has tax. If Walgreens offered it, it likely wouldn’t, as it’s same-exchange money per good, like the steam wallet cards.)
But I suggest taking Was Na’s advice until that happens. I may get 2-3 cards a month so I can stock up on Gems for future higher markets. Or if a gem offer occurs, like a specific mini pet, or costume.
The CPU itself does core sleeping, it’s not something someone can edit easily
I can’t recall the exact option I mean, but it can be modified via Registry (the key to edit is something like “ValueMin” and “ValueMax”; you change one to the same as the other)
Got it, the term I was referring to is “Core Parking”
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159864
AMD doesn’t have that. Windows does though. Intel has it in the CPU though iirc. My cores are all enabled though, and the BIOS takes care of that on my motherboard.
LA Overflow isn’t laggy much at all. I suggest trying shadows on Medium. Reflections on None.
See this about the page file:
There are rootkits and trojans out for Windows 8, so be advised that even Windows Security can’t help against some things.

if you still have Windows XP or older, I suggest keeping 8dot3 on. If you have COMODO Internet Security, you don’t really need UAC on, as it has its own UAC system (Since it still is made for XP as well.)

Minimum specifications means, even if you only get 1 fps, it can be ran on said specifications without crashing. (It’s important to note, if it crashes, then that’s not minimum specifications, you’d need to go higher.)
Is there a wiki page where it lists what items are needed for what profession and what types of monsters drop them?
Thank’s for the reply!
I see what you’re saying with vectors (No offence at all), But..If you..Someone who has nothing to do with this games code and may no understand it can give a detailed reason as to why vectors will positively affect the game, Why have A-net not done this yet?
No hate towards A-net but they must have their reasons as to why. Also, why would the outcome be if they did use vectors, Would everyone see a small FPS boost, Smoother camera turning, Smaller files?
Thank’s again for the reply, and 5 month’s for an optimised GW2? Eh..Honestly if it was my call..I’d call it off, 5 Month’s is a long time to take away a game that they’ve just put out just to make a few people happier.
That’s the beauty of MMOs though. What a game producer / developer / publisher does, is set up a separate test server, with the same database system, same engine, same everything pretty much on a localized network, not attached to the Internet. Then, they use this test server specifically for these reasons while the main game is left untouched until the test server is ready to send the diff/patch files to the main server for it to be updated. This allows for minor service interruption, and it is how most MMORPGs and MMOs work.
