I feel you. And the worst thing is everyone is relying on the guards, honestly I dont understand those groups with 2 guards mandatory, one of my smoothest runs lately was 1 warr / 2 rangers / 1 nec / 1guard (after plenty guards left when they saw our composition lol). I just want to cry when I see people getting hit by every second arrow by shaman on 48. Actually this game is all about dodging and every class can do that.
I find it easier when it’s just me guarding too, it means I don’t have to rely on some idiot who cant play his class and is a dead weight. When it’s a bad guardian it feels like a 4 man team, so I’d prefer just me + 4 high deeps. By the time i’ve run through all my cool downs the kitten is dead and we are moving on, vs hoping the guy uses his after mine in a fight that takes longer due to his lesser damage. This is pretty much the case in all dungeons outide of fotm, and in most of them guard not even needed at all with a decent team, so when there’re more than one I get irksome.
Having a second guardian makes meleeing things like mossman perfectly safe and a dps guardian still has better dps than a lot of classes in this game, mesmer included. My most common group set up these days when I can get it that way is 2/guard/3war, with one of the guard in full zerk.
Outside of fotm we run full DPS guard, only one in the group, but in full dps and it does fine and probably far better than any class you’d bring apart from warrior. It allows stuff like doing 100 blades against the destroyer in CoE path 3 without having to move out of the AoE and interrupt the attack (aegis). Group stability so that none the war take stun breakers.If you don’t take a guardian, warriors will have to waste a utility slot for something like shake it off or balanced stance. Our warriors run banner/frenzy/FGJ and for the third warrior OMM/frenzy/FGJ, no defensive utility. And the warrior trait empowered benefits from the boons given by the guard, whenever it’s safe to just spam them instead of keeping them for a specific use I do during the fight to bring the war dps to the maximum.
“This game is all about dodging” you can’t constantly avoid the immobilize in arah p3 from the hunter while meleeing crusher and also avoiding his attacks. You put up a wall of reflection and suddenly you negate any potential immobilize. The war don’t need condition removal, stun breakers or anything even remotely defensive because the guards helps some and also gives regeneration. (And yes, I know frenzy is a stun breaker but we use it for dps we don’t keep it out of cooldown just for the sake of breaking stun.)
If you run without a guard your warriors will not maximize their dps. They’ll also be more affected by chipping/unavoidable damage and it’ll bring the strength of Scholar Runes down. Aegis/regen/perma prot are good for that.
Guardian or mes is good for CoE yea, clearly you need mes for some parts but people can swap. not a big difference in time but for destroyer i perfer a mes. if your mesmer is good enough he should be rupting the first two dragon teeth cast, making dodging irrelvant because destroyer wont drop the first two. by the third he should be dead if its a 1 shot. if your mesmer misses surely a warrior can mace #5 since they should be running a/m- with GS anyway. I found 1 shots and entire dungeon smooth with guard or mesmer. i can see both ways although im mostly used to mes since he can rupt the wolves leap in begginging, has feedback for first pull etc, robot, TW is nice, portal for p2’s skip trash to the plant boss part etc.
yea imo the price was still the effects of the lyssa nerf on the market. peoples source dried up and it temporarily caused prices to spike. i doubt they would of lasted but oh well we will never know

honestly, this is so mirror’ed and old im suprised people havent expericned it before
in order to avoid people cheesing mobs from cliffs, like ghost eater used to be in AC essestianlly, mobs go invuln when your on certain elevations. when the harpys kd you, when you go jumping up etc, your in potentially sketch spots, anet detects it and makes them invuln. also its like a certain mob in SE Exploreable without saying more.
get on even ground aka melee range with them, hit for about 3-4 secs and itll go un-invulerable. want to range? too bad it might work, but melee is more relaiable. the same goes for the open world mobs that invuln, same for dungeon mobs people try to cliff etc, just go on regular LOS’s area, hit it 3-4 secs, and boom your back to dps. the reason you get invuln is u sit on platform ranging it and for whatevr reason, it wont un-invuln since the terrain is crazy here.
call it coincidence or RNG but when i use MF gear, i get a significant number more exotics/rares from chests than when i do it without. anyone else agree? im convinced im right, i already know the statement is that it doesnt, but my play expericnce has showed otherwise.
its kind of like in IRL when people find that 1 tiny loophole to a 100 page law (or code program like RNG). it may not be on the books as official that it works, but the people who are aware of it, use it and benefit
yep. i started noticing quirks for a while, forming my own theories rather than reading an official statement.
obvious in cursed shore or any “Farm” event on a populated server, being in a 5 man party = way more loot. i saw for a while if my dps or teams dps wasnt high enough, you didnt get loot. that goes to say for vets/champs AND regular mobs, but regular are easier to tag. however, if you played on JQ during its prime, youd know you had to be extremely fast or no drops.
same people get drops yea its wrong. the people who have gotten 3precursors imo. the people who constantly get abbbys/celestial
the people who get “2 fused tickets” from ~20 chests, my friend opens 180 for 1 ticket. id say its possible, but no , the same people get lucky way too much. what, does everyone whos that lu cky play lotterry too cuz its same odds
no, because there are consumables, yes even now, that can perma “cc” a mob.
Like the boss"Bjarl the rampager" in CoE, it will just be cheesesd to death with consumables.

Even if this newish consuamble was nerfed, in a organized group, you can still perma CC.
If Everyone in the group has prision bars, perma stun could be obtained + theres another that can do blowout effect. Also the consumables can be dropped to the team, further reducing the need for organization. I can drop 50 for PUG’s and just say “please use in 1,2,3,4,5” order.
Keep defiant or yea, would haev to totally revamp the use like poster above said. reduce effectiveness. however, the exact changes are so open for disucsion, lots of research would be needed. Do NOT jump to conclusions, fast opinions about defiant. we need a good solid change, not just a knee jerk reaction
edit: also for clarification this isnt a exploit or a glitch. these are legit consumables, legit cooldown. nothing is bugged or anything. everything is used regularly, with no 3rd pty progs etc..

Craft. No one is in open areas, because they are horrible for time/reward. Its actually faster to craft to 80 vs open world. The time you spend leveling, could be used for CoF runs, and CoF will pay for your crafting ++ more. So no self respecting player will do open world leveling. Saying its “Fun” isnt an argument. History has shown people in this game arent in it for “fun”, they are in it for progression, loot, etc.

in my old core team, anything less than a 1 shot is a epic fail. means 1 of the warriors isnt a good zerker, isnt running GS with axe/mace, failed their timing jumping etc…
its far from a dps check as bads can take unlimited tries essentially as long as they dont wipe, which isnt hard
you all know it is 9 PM server time now or so its not like they can be expected to have a full employee team 24/7 (it is but in a way its not)

The logic behind it, Healing Power doesnt scale well with any class, or AH.
Guardians can still be support without healing power, toughness/vit/dps is better than Heals.
Really, the only thing they need to do to fix the dredge fractal is remove the bomb or turret event and reduce the spawns in the clown car
also either remove the invuln on the clown car spawns or make it so attacking prioritizes on noninvuln targets so you stop hitting the 5 spawns that are still invuln while their friends are shooting you
That’s easily avoided tbh. Whenever we get Dredge, we go stand at the back of the Clowncar, and just have the AH guardian pull the dredge when they spawn, that way, they won’t be invulnerable. Even though you need to pull them every time, you still finish it up faster, because you don’t have to deal with the invulnerability.
Watch out if you do it that way though, because the Dredge Strazars will still hit you through the cart, because they’re ranged. Use your reflects there, and run in every once in a while to burst them down.
If people are struggling with dredge non silver add’s i think we have found our problem here.
considering rabslovich is commonly “cheesed” making the fight literally just farming the add’s.
yea i noticed right after SoS got SM that TC capped it after, all without much resistance from SoR. it was suprising since SoS has been the server nonstop attacking SM when walls are down/up even.
i came from jade quarry. a home where pve events where plentiful. a home with solid pvp.
Why i transferered to SoR:
teamwork on wvw. this isnt your “roam and flex when you find a1v1” This is all about scouting, team effort.
I went from helping a commander, lead the map, following, to helping him escort dolyaks to SM tagless while someone else finishes the pushes.
This would never happen on JQ. ALSO JQ likes it when 1 commander pin;s up only and keeps it to 1. each SoR map had 2-3 commanders leading multiple groups onto multiple objectives.
The amount of teamwork is better. when people say “Stack”.people actually listen and stack vs run in by themselves.
the commanders arent big bosses. they are mentors and coaches. they are players who like to help others and teach. far from a big commander who barks orders at his follwers. they have been in our position, as a follower, grown into commander, but still know whakittens like and how to make best use of the army. they are promoted from WITHIN.
The commanders here are not simply a bobblehead in a suit hired from <random servers>. They come from within with SoR community, having grown up here, witnessed the stregnths and weaknesses.
They have seen what it takes. They will help a fellow teammate. If a commander sees a downed player slightly off path, they will run to res that guy and not just ignore him. If a commander sees trashwork like waiting 4 mins for a camp, he w ill de-pin and wait, and take that camp because thats what the TEAM needs, and not just his commander kitten needs to tower,tower,tower,tower. If theres 30 people at Grub, 20 percent, they will ignore it unless its enemy

These are observered in less than a day playing not even with the “best” SoR guilds. I cant wait to see my next few days

transfer has already paid off big time for me.
I feel as though the 1-10 levels of fractals are pretty good reward wise, they are easy to complete and have a good chance of dropping cores. After those levels I start to notice that the time vs reward starts to drop off.
The biggest flaw I’ve noticed is with agony and agony resistance. Agony appears after 10, and you can’t get a ascended ring until after you pass 10. I ran fractals 1 to 20 on my warrior back when it first came out and gathered a lot of ring on him in the old system, but when I started running it on my ranger (this month) I’ve got nothing in terms of ascended pieces/AR until I got to level 12. To attempt the levels 10 to 20 properly you need at least 10 AR, and most people who have recently started running fractals don’t have the luxury I’ve had (I can take the extra rings from my warrior) and can only gather up 0-5 AR for this range unless they hold back and climb the same even level over and over for a chance at a ring or to gather the pristine tokens to buy one.
The other problem I’ve noticed is that even after reaching past 10, is that most people don’t know how to run the separate fractals. I’ve been in groups where people still don’t know how the switches work to open the doors in the dredge fractals or how the hammer works in Cliffside. By far the most difficult problem I’ve had in running fractals is people all do them differently, or don’t do them properly. People have been carried past 10 by other more active members in the party, and then when you get a party of these passive fractal runner you see nothing but them dying over and over at even the most simplest parts. There have been multiple times where I needed my pet to 1v1 a boss, while I had to resurrect my team. If I can manage my pet well enough (with a system majority of people consider very poor) to hold off a boss to rez 4 people, then I don’t understand why people who have made it past level 10 can die over and over to the same mechanic.

I dont see how doing arah p4 and having it take 3-4 hours to complete would warrant a loot reduction in the already bad loot. CoF p1 you might have an argument. But “Blanket” DR is bad.
Half my guild just left this game at the same time because they got bored of getting no loot and having nothing better to do. One of the members of the guild got about 200 people together to discuss where the future of this game might go, and they all decided to leave for WoW and other mmorpgs, so they said their goodbyes and just left. That’s the direction Anet is going, so good luck.

Whilst you can’t go full support there are ways you can support other players without sacrificing damage and defence.
For example the rangers best personal heal skill is Healing Spring, which is also an AoE heal. So any time you’re healing yourself you’re also healing everyone around you (and if there are other players around I usually try to position myself so that several players taking damage are in the area). They also have various AoE condition removal skills.
Elementalists and guardians of course have a lot of AoE support skills.
I get a buzz when I see people actually making a beeline to a healing spring at events since it means those players have knowledge of the game. A lot of players seem to ignore that potential though.

Why is it the most meaningful thing, not what i bring to the team in utility, not my dps, not my ability to guide teams but people judge you on “if you get downed or not”
ITS part of the game, deal with it. It happens, almost every player, even bunkers get downed sometimes. It has nothing to do with build. It has to do with oops cat on keyboard, oops misdodged, oops forgot this part etc. Why do people make it seem like the biggest deal ever when people are downed. Either leave them dead and make them learn with tough love, or res and move on,
Anet does not “fix” They only buff/nerf 
Why is ecto so low now? Will this change? Seems ever since metas chests were buffed, ecto was downhill even after the account bound nerf. Now its at a all time low. Seems like a good time to invest but what if it drops more? Does anyone know what is fueling this drop

This is a international game. There is going to be a segment that hates eveyrthing. Some people exlude warriors. Some people etc. The key has always been finding like minded players. Not giving into to a random run when theres many options availible.

I have fractal frequenter achivement, done fotm tons, got like 6 skins total, 33 personal levels on two characters, maybe 9 backpices total, still no achivement for this.

Nah, its just most classes will sit auto attack at 1200 range. if a warrior did this with rifle he wouldnt die either. most warriors actually get off their butt though and do damage, and take risk. other people , dont because there is barley a reward if they do that. we can be lazy too, just dont chooose too.

This is a social game. Fact the facts, small guilds arent social. They might be to you, but in reality, chatting with a group of ~30 people isnt as social as ~100 people.
Its like complaining people in the city (big guild) have it easy with access to close stores vs people living in rural areas (tiny guild) with stores only 30 minutes away. You choose your lifestyle, there is always consequences.
However, its still play how you want or live how you want since no one forces you to settle down anywhere. At any point, anyone can get up and move and reap the benefits of it.
