Well going on your post, yes the Rifle Warrior would fit that. Going further, AOE is a necessary component in PVE and Rifle has no AOE. I assume your second weaponset would have AOE (longbow or melee) and if rifle is your main for non grouped AOE things, than sure, my rifle in zerker gear does big damage compared to the rest of the classes
Coming from the #1 WvW Server, Jade Quarry, I think I can lend a good opinion to this. I myself am just a player, non warrior for WvW but,
two of our really good commanders, are hammer warriors. Ive never seen anything like this, he will rush into a zerg, headfirst before even checking if there is players behind him and he doesnt die unless the entire team dies sooo it must be doing something right. Theres something epic too about going in headfirst to save your commander. Yes, i believe its gaining popularity
It does make sense from a lore standpoint you want to help your NPC hero as fast as possible, and not be delayed in fighting unnecessary monsters if it can be avoided
The OP’s point still remains, this has been a bug for as long as I remember and even with workarounds, its annoying and should just be fixed.
This post is pretty much 100 percent accurate and while situations may vary, usually the last is the worst. If your team goes down, so should you technically. If the team is comprised of lets say, 2 guardians, 1 GS ranger, 1 Warrior and a ele, the decision is already made when you joined. This is a melee team. So if your standing plinking away with auto staff attacks while your team is in melee range, your giving no benefits, your drawing aggro crazily, your not doing maximum dps with d/d, you cant really res good etc…Even if you live, its not an accomplishment. If your team is fighting lava shaman fotm, and most everyone is ranged, and you outsurvive, that could be the sign of a great player. The thing is, if it killed the whole team, why didnt it kill you? Either your stacked to the brim with defense/heals which can be discouraged, or you are just that good, in which case, hats off too you, Pro Tactics, but thats rare sadly
Isnt this about Citadel of Flame? I dont believe the intent was to make fotm a money making dungeon, imagine money on top of ascended gear and unique skins. wayyyy to OP. They are fine, other classes can do it too
Warrior
When its time to be good and play with friends in dungeons, what songs get you motivated?
I like Gangnam Style/Gentleman or Thrift Store
ikr. take that same high dps group, since gear check, all zerker, and find a spot in open world too farm. they would get t6 galore, whatever that pack of monsters dropped etc. its just the organization is easy for good teams now.
Shows what common forum’ers know and what they say without knowing the facts…sigh
Yes, there was an official response.

Its funny because no one but the OP has had this experience. Clearly he is leaving out details.
This doesnt happen, maybe 1/10 parties. Gross exxagerration.
This guy made cof p1 (warrior), first timer, 650 achivement points. I had rude team, and all he did was say “Watch youtube on how to beat the domes part, ill be back in 5 minutes, if you havent watched, ill leave” We waited, he learned it, he did it. Done.
I consider that guy rude, but still no one was griefed/kicked
You kill slower with MF gear = Less drops = Less chance @ items.
You put on regular gear = start owning stuff = tons of random drops = more chances at a rare.
Sad day when people would rather kill 1 dragon, for 1 chance at a rare rather than realize killing tons of things give you a better shot at a good drop.
When i first got the game, wow I thought cities were purposely designed to be a maze
Also every dungeon can be completed by teams of only berserker + on a lot of weapons most of you’re dps come from auto attack.
??
Auto attacks are actually discouraged on warrior. 100b/whirlwind/rush/axe swap eviscerate, axe vuln attack etc… If you just auto attack/100b/auto attack your not doing maximum potential DPS. not even close.
Its generally understood Guardian DPS is good, but warrior is better. If a warrior is going to fail his WW against the wall, interrupt his 100b before it hits etc… then sure a guardian will be better. But a good war will always be faster. Also most guardians play “Cleric/Bunker” Guard. Its semi – rare to find a good zerk guard
If your spending hours to form a party for any dungeon, must be something wrong like saying level 50 lfg Arah. Or making the mistake of putting a GW2Lfg.com ad saying “LFG Dungeon” Vs just inviting the people already forming.
Rarely do I agree with mostly everything on posts, but this is very well written
Warriors. Not my opinion, its the communities, just showing you so you dont make a mistake. My warrior can hit 35k-50k+. Id like to see thief/ele do that. Guess how? Other warriors utilities, buffing me
Source: Goto gw2lfg.com, type in “Warrior” then type in “Ele”. See which are wanted on runs more.
Dont take any sole person’s opinion as fact here, as it doesnt matter what they think. Remember your trying to get in multiple groups, over multiple days, in multiple dungeons. You need to go with whats popular, even if some people believe it to be ineffective otherwise on forums.
If they want 80’s it might be because the dungeon actually requires level 80.
The only time ive seen class requirements is CoF Path1. If its fractals asking for guardian, they might be on “Lava Shaman” and they are themselves newbies, looking for someone experinced to guide them, joining as a casual will just have them fail. Remember, theres a reason that 1 spot opened, someone else left. They arent doing it to be rude, they literally NEED that or they will not suceed. If they were all great <insert class> then they wouldnt need that type.
5 mins runs Im guessing are speedruns in general, and thats a whole new can of worms, but most groups do not restrict by class. Example: TA U/U Speedrun. it just means skip the mobs that get most teams wiped. I have never been gear checked in a speedrun besides cof p1 war’s.
Im pretty sure it wasnt RNG… DR has definatly hit me in Cursed Shore. Coulda been after 25 mins though, and maybe for 10 minutes he had bad RNG drops but its completly plausible that he did hit DR. Yes I have been DR’d from Cursed Shore multiple times. I can tell because usually at least if not more than 50 percent of the mobs I tag, will drop loot. Later on, it starts being like 20 percent of the mobs drop loot. Later on it becomes 20 percent drop Porous Bones instead of real items.
Actually I have noticed the complete opposite. I have noticed most runs people do not like skipping when I ask them to skip (SE P3, After first boss “Skip trash please” They reply no we will die, please kill etc").
I also notice alot of non wars/guards/mesmers in runs, yes even CoF p1. I have RARELY RARELY seen it be a problem for most teams.
When people have pinged gear for whatever reason, I have observed it to be some of the worst ideas personally I could ever think of but I have never told them to change, because its not going to acheieve anything.
Ill name ideal weapons for 3 classes, tell me how many people you see running them, at least in my groups, its the minority. This is to achive max dps which I guess your considering elitist.
Guard: Staff/GS. War: GS/Axe-Mace. Mes: GS/1h-Focus(To pull for warriors to dps)
Players are just trying to show the lowbies with Periscopes tough love. Learn stability early, itll pay off.
Warriors should be easier to level in PvE, surely you arent playing one for PvP. And if thats what a player likes/enjoys with that class, why shouldn’t Anet tailor to that by making PvE Content easier for them, remember thats why they made it in the first place.
Alot of the things you say are CoF p1 SPEED runs only, which is a tiny tiny portion. The periscopes is different, but really, thats not being elitist. You cant be serious saying someone who wants a challenge is being elitist by saying they shouldnt of nerfed periscopes. Id gladly help a newb in map chat who asks “How can I hit periscope, it keeps knocking me back”
You can tell the good guardians by the life sigl + cleric armor
Strafing is supposed to make you not be hit by some projectiles and theres no reason or evidence to suggest this is unintentional or not intended. Just because you cant range, doesnt mean it needs a buff, this is how guardians are.
Example: FOTM Lava Shaman’s Agony Fire Arrow will never hit you if you strafe EVEN LESS than the youtube video. You dont have to dance back and forth, simple circle him around and auto attack and that thing is way faster than Orb. If that doesnt hit, why would a slow moving projectile hit?
Guardian should get a new elite: Reflect Stance. 60 seconds. While you are in this stance you defy all projectiles and reflect them to enemey.
The invuln skill is OKish and I do run it but it still is meh. I use it more for the 2xblock then i do the actual invuln
Irrelevant topic, people that want to work in a team environment will favor CoF P1
Huh?
I believe he is trying to say, in Cursed Shore (likely) he will be solo, so if that is his style do that. CoF p1 is working with a team of others and relying on them to obtain your loot.
I assume the poster is not wearing berserker gear by the general tone of the thread. If you are tanky because you dont spec DPS gear, than why couldnt you res them or possibly kite the enemys while the (i hope 1 alive) other guy resses
I have tried PVT on warrior, if anything it gives me the illusion of being tanky when im actually just as squishy. I end up dying the same amount of times with both “Tanky gear” and “Zerker gear” so i just use zerker. I tried everything from healing shouts, to banner regen. It really doesnt help. For a warrior to live they have to dodge the damage, theres just no way to absorb it even if you have non zerk gear. (I refuse to try Clerics as thats going a bit far into unreasonable)
Im not perfect, I die and get downed sometimes and have wiped with the team before but by no means do I think im causing someone such grief as you experienced. I feel like the wipe or death would of been caused no matter what I wore. This applies to any dungeon, but FOTM is the best example.
I.E. If my guardian is dying to things with “Tanky gear”, surely when i play my warrior with the same tanky gear or zerker, im going to die to that same DPS Burst.
Your run honestly doesnt sound that different from some of the groups I have been on. Of course it was slow and frustrating but no one did you individual harm and sometimes this type of thing happens.
well neither. Try farming CoE. 15 silver per boss, boss happens 3 times, 20 silver at the end, plus anything you get from chests and trash mobs.
Incorrect numbers.
Alpha spawns three times, first encounter doesnt drop loot at all, second encounter gives you event silver at maximum (1-2s), and the third alpha drops 15s (Buffed to 20-21 with omnombberry)
If you mean bosses such as the middle ones I dont even believe they will drop fifteen silver. I know for a fact the robot drops 10s, and believe it likewise with Bjarl/Husk/Destroyer.
To OP: Id go with COF. Pentient/Shels = Gambling by luck, which the odd’s are not in your favor but its possible to get good money. CoF = Farming by force, pure guaranteed silver drops with the chance @ rares too. I found Cursed Shore more fun though, just due to the massive amount of people, zergs on risen, being able to constantly hit events/mine.
Edit: Filter changed dro kitten ilver to dro kitten somehow
Fractals arent made for money. They are for skins/ascended gear. If your looking for money runs, make a warrior or mesmer and do CoF p1.
You should view fractals drops/chests/rares as a bonus, not an involved part of the run
Retaliation should show damage being done on your screen. I know its doing alot but without seeing the numbers, its hard to notice exactly how much it helps. (Dont think it shows up as DPS at least)
This would be fixed if people stopped running bad builds, healing builds, non zerker builds, non heavys or mesmers. The reason people skip is because people have terrible DPS and it takes ages because of that. If people would start playing mostly warrior, 1guard or mes in dungeons, I bet alot more groups would be ok with killing trash.
If i have a engi, ranger, necro, and im guardian in group, guess what, you think I want to skip or fight.
There is so many people saying how great reflect is in fotm but really in harpy level it seems to be becoming less useful and the mechanics dont fit in with the rest of the game.
Examples: More and more people are using bodyblocking bugs like necro wurm to stop the harpy knockdown instead of reflects due to the balls going over or through reflects.
More thiefs are using smokescreen to simply block the projectiles (absorb) vs reflect
Old Tom is the best example of where reflects make no sense. Why should only certain skills stop his bolts? As a guardian, it seems completly ridiculous that wall of reflect does not reflect any of his projectiles. YES PROJECTILES. Sure shield avenger works but what is this game evolving into, “You can reflect some projectiles, and others you cant, even though they are projectiles too”.
Consistency please.
I would suggest playing a magic find warrior as you would get way more “Tags” and mobility/speed
If it was made impossible for a zerker party, it would be impossible for the entire game. I cant think of one instance where you need “Tanks” or “non zerkers”. Care to come up with the mechanics?
Let me re-phrase. If you want to be considered good at GW2, use GS. If you want to be a casual pug, use hammer.
No one needs control. Mesmers are control if you need it and guardian cannot match mesmer control. Your play a inferior version.
Its like a necro saying I can chill/cripple in CoF p1. Thats great control, but no one needs it. As a guardian you should be able to live with a GS and we all know DPS is king in PVE. Even in high level FOTM
Dont use hammer in PvE unless your with all squishers
Does anyone think it would be cool if warriors could trait into dual wielding GS?
I think you might be approaching this wrong. To me, the endgame is socializing with friends and doing a run with them or guildies. It doesnt necessarily need to be one specific aspect, as long as we are together having fun. If your looking for a solo type style found in FPS games as in " I Win, You Lose" then pvp might be your thing, PVE is Co-Op later on. Map completion is only really to introduce you to the game, its easily skippable to get to the “fun” stuff if you dont want to do it
Its kinda funny though
Guest to the server entitled “Jade Quarry”
Runes of corruption dont stack, so you wont get the bonuses from two, just one
i just logged out of a dungeon, black screen, and now cant get on, just general waiting/connection error nothing specific.
Good post. However, I have had tons of players suggest they enjoy Dredge for the loot, and removing the add’s would make them unhappy. I think there might be a alternate way of shortening it. Also most people cringe when they see bombs vs the door cannon.
Why is this under dungeons? Bounties are the farthest thing from a dungeon. Possibly your lack of detail could be carried over to your build. Maybe doublecheck your build and your condition damage might “scale better”
It sounds like you just want a precursor drop because you wear MF gear. Try looking at it from this standpoint. Zerk gear = faster/more runs = more chances @ chest= more chances at a exotic drop
MF gear = slower runs = less chances at chest/drops with only a slightly increased rate.
The issue is these dungeons become a virtual tug of war between players. Take Arah p4 Simin, pre patch. “Too hard please nerf”
Same with p1, pleas to buff it, will result in less people doing it, and more forums posts resulting in a forever see sawing of players wanting it changed.
Why do you feel your way should be implemented over everyone elses? Should all easy dungeon modes be nerfed? SE p3. This could be a snowball effect.
Because Simin was nerfed, doesnt mean all hard dungeon paths should be nerfed
Ive never had a minimum or maximum HP. in fact I do not own 1 piece of Vit gear. Its about your tactics/toughness. If it was about HP, warriors would be king.
It seems to me that if you left for 3 months and your just getting back, it’s not so much a gear issue as it is building your knowledge of the content and practicing using your dodge and healing skills.
As far as your gear goes, it’s not all that terrible. Your armor is not optimized for speed runs but it’s pretty decent for survival. I would say it’s a decent balance for now. You might want to swap the sceptre/focus for staff. It has a bit of range that will still allow you to stand back from some bad stuff and it won’t miss (scepter bolts can miss if you didn’t know). Not sure what your traits are but a good starting point is 0/15/30/20/5
I can’t really suggest any specific changes for what you desire because it’s not clear to me that you are at a skill level where running an optimized speed run build would work for you. As a general strategy, I tend to suggest people that struggle with group content start in a heavy defensive build, focusing on keeping themselves alive. From there they can work towards something more offensive or supportive as they improve their gameplay. The nice thing about that approach is that Clerics/PTV gear has a significant amount of power so your damage will still be very respectable.
Not at all, I know 3 months away is not an issue, but is there any guardian who goes full power/vit/condition dmg? thats what I was saying, and thanks for the tips..
No. if you wish have any respect in the top-tier gaming community of fractals or cof, you would run full knights gear for fotm (or full soldiers but i perfer knight) and full berserker gear for cof. No exceptions.
sword/any + rifle.
Rifle is to pull foes into one big ball of mobs. Sword is to kite + slash away.
how do you use rifle to pull enemys in a ball?
