Can anyone confirm the same for monocles?

Decent setup but your burst is borderline exploit and not working as intended. It’s obvious Anet didn’t intend for lightning flash to work the way it does with certain abilities (burning speed and fiery GS rush). Horrendous coding on their part. If I’m not mistaken they are fixing the fiery GS rush exploit so they should definitely fix burning speed.
Gonna submit a bug report right now.
It is pretty obvious it is a bug, in the exact same vein as fgs. But it is such a versatility opener that it would immensely lower the ele skill cap if they were to remove it. BS would now be entirely predictable since you will be forced to use it straight ahead of the enemy at max range to hit the explosion… and we all know how easy that is to dodge. They would seriously need to compensate ele if they ever remove this, because we are just barely hanging on even while taking advantage of this.
Hopefully burning speed will not be affected as a side effect of the fgs nerf.
So then LF+ Churning Earth must be a bug too then right?
No, because churning earth is stationary. It’s pretty obvious that blinks were not intended to root you in place when used in conjunction with mobility moves. That said, it’s ingrained enough into the ele playstyle that Anet really shouldn’t touch it.
And I have to second, I think BS+LF is actually easier to pull off after the patch, thankfully. You can basically LF immediately after casting burning speed and you will be rooted now.

Glad he fleshed it out, but there are a stunning number of really glaring errors for the cooldown of abilities. He lists the cooldown of cone of cold as 23 seconds (should be 12s) and evasive arcana as 40(!) which should also be about 10. Healing ripple he lists as 15s, and should be closer to 10s depending on arcana investment.
Edit: for some reason he lists evasive arcana twice. The second time he has the correct cooldown.

Personally I think conversion rate will skyrocket (that is, you will get less gems with gold and more gold with gems) on the 15th, at least briefly. People will be buying an absolute treasure trove of style items and skins from the gem store because of the new warddrobe, and style items being usable in combat.

IMO it sounds likely that you, a human being, made a mistake once after sending money in the mail many times. If you do it a lot you are bound to make a mistake eventually. This seems a lot more plausible than a bug existing in the mail framework which has never been discovered by anybody until now.
Sucks, but it happens. Something that anet SHOULD do is require confirmation whenever you are going to send more than a gold in the mail. Just a little popup (or 2) that say “ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO SEND x% OF YOUR TOTAL GOLD?”

On crit sigils are actually 100% chance to proc on crit after patch. And some will be on hit instead of on crit.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I doubt they will be account bound. Imagine the outcry from people who already own almost every dye on multiple characters, who would get essentially nothing in compensation.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Problem is there is nothing in the game hard enough to warrant a legendary. Aside from pvp.
I would be all for an extreme jumping puzzle that gave a legendary though. Talking clock tower on steroids.
Endless Petrification Tonic
You get compensated with fgs rush fire trail and frost bow aoe… until they get nerfed. fgs rush with teleport is already on the chopping block for the 15th and I believe they are planning to get rid of the fire trail completely at some point.
For pvp… nothing really. In the past, healing was the excuse, but it always took 30 points in water and arcana anyways so terrible damage (and even worse damage today after bountiful power nerf). In the current meta ele doesn’t even last long enough to heal, and if they do they probably aren’t doing anything useful.

Try longbow + axe/shield with soldier gear, it is the easiest and most effective duel spec I have ever run on any class. If people try to melee you just lay combustive shot and arcing arrow on yourself, and if they try to range, pin them down and switch to axe and eviscerate them. You’ll also get fire auras, burning projectiles and might up the wazoo using your many finishers in your fire field. Blind can be a bit annoying but combustive shot gets rid of it most of the time.
LB/s-s is the strongest combo ingame for a warr atm.You can pressure them from far,but if they close in you can switch and put torment on and just keep autoattacking to stack bleeds and cripple him ( also you have riposte to block from far and gain adren,or go upclose and apply 4x bleeds for 12 sec instead ) ,in a matter of time they will back off again,so you can start kiting again while they prob still have torment on them.Depending on your amulet and your trait setup, this weap combo atm is a beast when used right.
Eh, I’ve tried sword/sword + longbow condition and I much prefer axe/shield + longbow power. It’s just too easy to cleanse conditions in this game, so you can be hardcountered since war can’t apply a ton of conditions like necro and engi. The stun on shield is amazing for interrupting heals and setting up eviscerate, and I prefer shield block 10x over sword block… blocking melee attacks is extremely useful, and I could care less about a couple bleed stacks. Dueling a condition spec war with axe/shield + longbow is a walk in the park since every time you use combustive shot or eviscerate you are clearing all their conditions (with cleansing ire). That’s not to speak of berserker’s stance and runes of lyssa.
And axe/shield combos so well with longbow… eviscerate, cyclone axe, throw axe, and shield bash are ALL combo finishers. Not to mention axe is one of the best weapons for filling adrenaline, so you will always have combustive shot up on switch.
Anyways I think it’s a bit of a misconception thinking of longbow as a condition weapon. Arcing arrow does MAJOR direct damage and burning doesn’t benefit that much from condition damage anyways. The six bleed stacks on pin down will never last full duration and can’t be reapplied quickly after being cleansed.
Only thing missing from axe/shield is ooc mobility imo. Still good for chasing with the cripple+stun though.
Finally impale’s torment stacks are getting majorly nerfed in the next patch, so all the more reason to switch to shield master race.

Is this a joke? War has the most viable builds by far, with so many good weapons to choose from, and sustainability built into the heal freeing trait points for other purposes. I honestly think you haven’t played other classes at all if you think war is not versatile. Even 5 builds as you claim is huge compared to many classes that have at most one viable build.
If you are claiming the game in general has a lack of builds… well I might be inclined to agree, but put the thread in the main spvp forum, because as far as builds go war is rich compared to the rest.

Spending real life cash on pixels in any game is pretty stupid. Not gonna sugar coat it or say “if it makes you happy…”. It’s just flat out stupid. As others have said, you really need to invest in something other than that Commodore 64 your playing on so after a year or 2 when GW2 gets stale and the new “better” MMO comes out, you can actually play it. At the moment looking at those screenshots, it’s about the same as being 70% blind but buying a hi-def tv. What’s the point when you can’t even see good enough to enjoy it.
And honestly, you’re not impressing anyone since any kid can work at McDs and live in his moms basement and do the same thing. And you know Anet is laughing all the way to the bank…as well as praying that more people like the OP will play this game.
Spending money on pixels or spending hours of your life on pixels… is there really a difference?
But in my opinion virtual items (“pixels”) are no less “real” than anything physical you can buy. None if it will do you any good once you’re dead anyways, so whatever brings you joy in the meantime is the only worthwhile measuring stick for something’s value. Plus the dude’s keeping the game profitable and free for everyone else, so I don’t see a problem, unless he is blowing money that he should be using on basic expenses like rent/food/transportation.

1 – Thief (almost always have to burst down instead of stomp. They can avoid 2 stomp attempts by teleporting and then screening if you don’t start first stomp immediately or find where they teleported. good damage on downed 1 as well.)
2 – Warrior (vengeance can be a game changer. If enemy gets downed after you then you can vengeance and stomp them, potentially rallying in the process. Otherwise you can add some dps to a team fight before dying. Decent damage on downed 1 as well)
3 – Elementalist (mist form can avoid stealth and stability stomps. In WvW can retreat to keep or friendly zerg. Other skills are garbage)
4 – Guardian (interrupt more than one person attempting stomp and also knock them off a point in spvp. Healing field is great to avoid getting bursted down, help allies, and also to win fights against other downed people)
5 – Ranger (almost the same as guard. 2 skill can interrupt all stompers if they don’t have stability, but won’t knock them back like guard. Last long enough and pet will do crazy healing so you won’t get bursted down and can win any fight against another downed enemy)
6 – Mesmer (2 skill can port you into really hard to reach places occasionally, prolonging death. Other times it can port you an inch away. Phantasm skill is really strong and can down a low hp stomper)
7 – Engi (2 and 3 skills are lackluster but at least can interrupt reliably. 1 skill is really strong and can do strong condition damage and chill people for a LONG time even after you are dead)
8 – Necro (2 skill is countered by almost everything, from stealth to stability to blind to condition immunity. 3 is pretty good for damage if you can last that long)

Same goes for firebringer and infinite light. But unless you are rank 70 you need a lot of luck to get runic blade (infinite light) in pvp (only a chance to salvage token from 40k glory t2 cultural armor and if you get the token you have to gamble it in mf to try and get runic blade). Firebringer is really easy as long as you’re rank 40.
Nothing can really be done now though.

I’m still holding out hope for Anet releasing them tomorrow (at least the potion… don’t care too much about the wand which I assume makes other people bobbleheaded). After all it doesn’t make much sense to release today since we already have bobbleheads.

there are 2 armour sets that aren’t available in pve
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Masquerade_armor
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Commando_armorsince you’re 40 there is also priory and vigil armour which you can only get if you do the personal story and pick their faction (people like the medium vigil leggings in particular because they’re super skimpy on female chars)
theres also the Paid tournament “super crits” (getting really really luck)
like Dwayna’s Longbow,
Magma’s Arm (which shares its skin with a legendary precursor)
Dwayna’s Shortbow (which also shares its skin with a legendary precursor)
and Lava Axe (same skin as ele conjure) etc.
(all of which worth hundreds of gold each)if you have glory to burn and nothing to buy the make dyes, the prices have sky rocketed, you can start the new patch with plenty of gold to spend on unlocking traits and amulets :P
Dang, guess I lucked out then. I had only two longbow tokens left and managed to craft Dwayna’s longbow on the second (and last) attempt.
Wasn’t so lucky salvaging a phoenix token. None from the 6 t2 cultural pieces I salvaged, and decided it wasn’t really worth wasting another 40k glory just for another chance at maybe getting a phoenix token that might yield a runic blade. Used my glory to buy enough tomes to fully level 4 alts instead.

will there be individual mix and match pieces in future releases? Or will they all be complete sets?
We will continue to release mix and match armor skin pieces
You may not have intended it but this answer sounds a bit deceptive. Narthexia was in all likelihood referencing mix and match town clothes, yet your response only references armor pieces, completely sidestepping the question. If you meant town clothes will continue to be mix and match then… I don’t know how to reconcile that with anything that has been said so far.

I think they are still thinking how to change the signet, in the meantime they nerfed it, though it will not stop people from whining.
its not just the passive that is the problem. Its warriors as a whole.
oh warriors are perfect where they are, just like anet claims it is. Its the rest of the classes that needs to catch up.
This is the dumbest excuse that I keep hearing over and over. Now you may or may not be being sarcastic, but I see people claiming this all the time. And to them I say, what makes more sense: nerfing one class or buffing seven? I’ll give you a hint: it’s the one that doesn’t cause massive power creep and myriad unpredictable side effects.
The anti-nerf bandwagon just makes no sense. I can imagine in real life when these peoples’ grass grows too long they complain that the whole neighborhood should grow their grass out to match so they don’t have to mow their lawn.

In my opinion, the nerf to bonus 4 is a huge deal for condimentalist. The most important thing about it was providing a cover condition every 15s. Number of stacks was never that important. So by nerfing cooldown instead of number of stacks, ele takes a big hit since ele has good condition durations for bleeding and burning but is much worse than most classes with quantity of conditions.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Nice gameplay. Gives me a little hope for ele… but it is relying on so many modifiers that only take effect above 90% and using all utilities at once, so it is definitely kill or be killed. Also celestial damage is going to be a LOT worse in WvW after the 15th.
Endless Petrification Tonic
The main thing I am upset about is requiring charges for pvp. I’m not gonna waste charges on lvl 1 alts that I play in pvp occasionally, so they are gonna be stuck looking ugly. And this is coming from a guy with 400 transmute crystals from opening black lion chests near launch.
Endless Petrification Tonic
If you dodge eviscerate, that is still a point in war’s favor. He wastes your endurance and he can just swap to second weaponset and use burst on that. And eviscerate will be off cooldown on next swap. It is very hard to make a wrong move as warrior as long as you keep weapon swapping and using skills and bursts off cooldown (war cooldowns are very low).
Also if he has shield you have to dodge shield bash AND eviscerate in order to dodge eviscerate. Hope you have full endurance.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Longbow will still be incredibly powerful. Arcing shot was insane aoe damage comparable to a 5-target eviscerate and even after 15% nerf it will still be a powerhouse. Combustive shot + arcing arrow at your location is pretty much an impenetrable defense against thieves and will still give you free might.
The pin down nerf isn’t even that bad… it is still only as slow as the auto-attack, which is to say, not slow. You might even be able to cancel it reliably now.
PvP is getting sigil of renewal which completely offsets healing signet nerf with fast hands. And now your longbow (and hammer if you take it… personally I like axe shield) can take an extra sigil so it is completely free.
Lyssa nerf is the biggest nerf. But it was a long time coming. Not really fair that only thief and war could take advantage of such a powerful effect. Might be worth it to switch to a new runeset like strength (coupled with sigil of battle).

One potential reason for changing them to outfits for future compatibility and development reasons is if the devs want to create sets of clothing that don’t have to take other pieces into account at all. If all town clothes that couldn’t be converted to skins for one armor class or another became either a tonic or an outfit, there becomes zero conflict issues to resolve between outfit items. This means faster development and massively greater flexibility (on the dev side). An extreme, and terrible, example of this would be a giant chicken suit or… like… maybe a Taimi’s mech outfit?
IF that is the intention, then allowing for town clothes customization as it was before would create a whole additional tab for “customizable outfits”, which would both be excessive and take more time than it is worth.
This is just speculation about the reasons for their decision, of course, but I think that it’s possible we will all be happier with getting a much higher volume of much more unique outfits.
But hopefully no giant chicken suits!
There is already a solution to this IN GAME RIGHT NOW. Equip bloody prince outfit or witch’s outfit and you will see that your leg slot is ignored even if you have something equipped there. That is literally all that needs to be done: ignore other pieces if you are equipping a “full outfit” piece in the chest slot.
Endless Petrification Tonic
We do understand and sincerely apologize that there are creative combinations of town clothes that will not exist anymore. Many have asked why remove town clothes as a concept. It boils down to we believe better armor skinning and the outfit system is something we can add more options to more often and will produce a better supported RP game for everyone with more variety in the future. In short, a healthier game.
To expand more on what I mean by better support, It helps if you think of town clothes as a 4th weight class of armor. Clothing was meant to offer visual options that break the class roles, however we were never completely happy with the way it was isolated from the rest of the game and still felt largely the same. Many pieces could have easily been mistaken for light or medium armor. In many ways it was more akin to building an alt character because town-clothes and armor were so separated. Additionally, every time we added something to town-clothes, it didn’t really help someone building their light, medium, or heavy look. And there was no way to add combat gear fairly without creating 3 versions on the back end (light, medium, and heavy). As a customization platform and sustainable expansion design it left a lot to be desired.
When we started looking at bringing more of the clothing back into armor with mix and match styles there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how we set up every armor to allow many dye channels and styles per piece).. There really is no way at this point over six years since we started development to make absolutely everything work together. So we needed something new to continue to grow in the future.
Outfits give us a way to create highly stylized looks that aren’t constrained to armor slots or weight class. In addition to armor skins that are easier and cheaper to collect across characters and the account dye system we do believe the options across a players whole account are much more attractive now. You’ll see more outfits coming out this summer and additions to the game more often usable by your characters. We try not to allow too much ‘hoarder’ design where we just keep stacking more and more options on leaving lots of unsupported things hanging around. Yes, we do have to give up some of our current closet space and clothing to fit the new wardrobe in. Again, apologies for that.
As always we ask you to try out the new system of customization and see what’s available to you. I think many people will be surprised by how many pieces have become armor compatible. We hope the benefits to the outfit system and wardrobe in terms of future support and additions will be clear, and you can look forward to more new outfits coming very soon.
If I am understanding you correctly, the only reason for all this is so outfits look distinct from armor? With all due respect… that’s not really possible. In fact you’ve already failed. Bloody prince and wintersday outfits both look like light armor. Pirate looks like medium. In fact, I don’t understand how it’s even possible to make an outfit that doesn’t look like one of the armor classes, since the armor classes are pretty much all encompassing.
And how is that even relevant to removing mix and match anyways? One piece or multi-piece, either way you are going to fit into one of the three archetypes.
And how will we be “surprised” by what becomes armor compatible? You’ve already flat out told us all the non-head slot single piece clothing items are going the way of the tonic. Unless you mean boots and gloves on all the outfits are being separated (in which case can’t you just flat out say it instead of leaving us in the dark?)
All in all it’s a giant step backwards. Now whenever an outfit is released, we’ll have to hope and pray that the designer shares our tastes in EVERY respect. Even if we love the chest and legs, if there are ugly boots (cough pirate outfit cough) etc, we have to disregard the ENTIRE outfit.

Personally, I would be fine with them disabling town clothes altogether temporarily if it means avoiding this fiasco.
But I would think their design is encapsulated enough that they don’t have to scrap everything just to make a relatively minor change like providing extra town clothing slots. If not I don’t know how they’ve managed to accomplish anything that they have to date.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Please, I think it would help for us to know. Also why did you remove the town cloth tab? Couldn’t you change the system so that you could keep using town clothes in combat with your weapons? The town cloth tab was perfect, only exception was the no combat bit. Even if we can use some in combat, this a huge step backwards in my opinion, when you take away mix and match, and our option to dye individual pieces.
^Honestly this. Why are you even removing the town clothes tab? No need to reinvent the wheel. Literally the ONLY (high-level) changes needed are to make it so:
1.You can use weapons.
2. You aren’t put back into armor when in combat.
I understand you want things to look new and shiny, but at the expense of this much functionality? No thanks. You already had something completely workable and no issues mixing armor and clothes. If you are worried about naked people just require chest and legs before allowing combat.
Endless Petrification Tonic
(edited by Jabberwock.9014)
Bonefield has a pretty good understanding here of why some mix and match is not easy at all. Some armor and clothing combinations are fundamentally not mixable, (for more than just clipping reasons)
Can you explain why you don’t just disallow mixing armor and townclothes then? I don’t think too many people care ALL that much about being able to wear khaki shorts with their vigil breastplate. What we care about is that we can no longer wear combinations that we have been able to since launch. Just make it so that if you are overriding armor with townclothes, you have to override ALL slots.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Keeping the alternate paper doll and keeping the town clothes non-combat-ready isn’t something that would take weeks to implement, right? (It sounds like it would involve less work, as the town clothes paper doll already exists and can therefore just be kept as an option until town clothes are made wardrobe-able— unless in my ignorance of coding I’m underestimating the amount of work it takes to add a Town Clothes button back into the Hero menu and get the automatic switching and stuff working.)
In theory, yes. The devil is in the details and part of that is if they still have a copy of the code available. They should, but it’s not a guarantee. They would also have to make sure the new wardrobe code doesn’t freak out over non-gear equipables or vice versa and the like. It’s not necessarily an extremely fast fix.

Hear, hear. Not just weeks, I’m willing to wait as long as it takes
No… no… these are items I paid for several times across my accounts. There has to be accountability and not a lingering, “meh… whatever” response. I’m still surprised they made such changes to begin with without a CDI thread. This is way larger than FotM and that got a thread. Now, that being said, I’m willing to wait as long as there’s some definition to it.
I suppose I should have said, “as long as it takes, within reason”. Certainly more than a couple of months would be fairly unacceptable: there should be accountability to ensure something actually ends up happening. But as long something happens, I don’t much care when. The point is, if it means avoiding permanently crippling a major facet of the game, I am willing to wait. I don’t want this half-baked garbage bundled in with an otherwise great looking feature patch just for the sake of making it look bigger.
Personally I feel this whole “feature patch vs content patch” culture is part of the problem. Because feature patches come around so rarely devs feel like they have to package literally everything into them or risk waiting half a year for the next one. Stop with this completely arbitrary patch distinction and you can start releasing things when they are complete. This is also a major problem for PvP balance, where we have acknowledged imbalances hanging around long, LONG after they are determined to be broken (see healing signet) because devs feel they have to put all the balance fixes in the almighty feature patch. Marketing hype gone wrong imo.

Just get it done. Make us happy. We don’t mind waiting a few more weeks – really.
Hear, hear. Not just weeks, I’m willing to wait as long as it takes as long as they don’t permanently ruin one of the best customization features currently in game. This really reeks of deadline at the moment.
