imo bad investment. Items that don’t get soulbound never rise that much. Although I suppose the power of quaggan could trump that, I don’t think it’s likely. Do you know how many of these things are floating around? That supply will never diminish.
Endless Petrification Tonic
How is this possible? I wasn’t in any party yet an enemy invader in EoTM managed to whisper me taunting me for running away from a 1v5 (me solo against an organized guild group). When I tried to whisper back it said he was offline, and then he whispered me again seconds later.

T6 mats (except one) are way riskier than discontinued event items imo. They are already at a high point from people crafting up leatherworking to make the new backpiece, and when people go back to champ trains they’ll come back down to earth.
Monocles may be down, but keep in mind they were 20g at release, so even now they are 10x original price. And with the tiny supply that is actually flowing, they’ll be back up in no time. Monocles are a major status item given they represent wealth both in real life and in game, meaning the more expensive they get the more they are coveted and the more people are willing to pay.

I thought I read somewhere that Escape from Lion’s Arch was going to last 4 weeks. Since the final battle is releasing on March 4th, does that mean this isn’t true? Or will the final battle be running in parallel?

I remember doing some back of the napkin calculations at some point and came up with the statistic the healing is worth more than vitality in a x/y/15+z/30 base build as long as the fight lasts more than 10 seconds. Please don’t take that at face value. But it is true that in long fights healing power is the most important defensive stat for this ele. The problem is those short fights (ie. zerk thief, burst condi necro… and both happen to love applying poison which screws up healing).

Cleansing water nerf reversed? Maybe in another year they’ll revert rtl.

I highly doubt they’ll remain 1 ticket past another 2 weeks. Most other weapon skins have remained 1 ticket for no more than a month, and it’s well past Valentine’s day now.
And halloween weapons took long to raise because there were only a couple varieties leading to massive supply glut. Lovestruck will rise faster (though not as fast as dreamthistle I’m sure).

I hate to even bump this post, but seriously, what is the big deal? Yeah it’s a little weird that there appear to be VERY faint nipple outlines in a very anatomically incorrect place, but you have to strain and zoom and pan the camera so much to barely see them that it strikes me as people going out of their way to be offended. But I guess the world’s still not ready for boobs.
Anyways, I bought the light and heavy sets. Most unique set in game. Reminds me of twilight in armor form but blue. As others have said you need to start toning down the butt capes though. Normally I’d just use a different bottom but there aren’t really any that match this set.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Are you joking? DS is probably the most powerful class mechanic of all of them, and by a good margin. Necros already have the highest hp in game, and DS scales with it giving you absolutely massive effective hp, and great sustain too when using a power build with dagger and spectral utilities. It’s almost trivial to keep up life force with such a setup… enemies will burst your ds down, then you pop spectral armor (and heal to recover your main bar) and you’re almost immediately half full of lf again.
On top of that, the damage from +50% crit chance life blast (plus might and vuln stacks) is probably the best ranged sustained damage in game. And 4 and 5 do great aoe damage… and you have an instant cast fear… and teleport with chill (one of the best conditions in game). I’ll take that on any class, any day.

Has anybody else realized that the passive could actually seriously screw up our combos and mobility? As we all know, quickness is pretty naively implemented and will cut the distance of mobility skills by a factor of 1.5 by virtue of speeding up their animations by a factor of 1.5. This isn’t so much of a problem for timed quicknesses like frenzy (just don’t pop it when you want to use a mobility skill), but with a passive that triggers on attunement swap we will be getting shortened rtl and burning speed all over the place. This will even screw up time-honored combos like updraft to burning speed (burning speed probably won’t even reach).
IMO we should just be getting 1.4x damage and condition damage modifier on attunement swap instead of quickness, to avoid this broknenness.

Hmm, if true this is excellent, since I’ll finally have an elite that will help in EVERY fight, much like war and thief currently have. I really hate once in a blue moon elites, especially when it comes to dueling.
The active could boost healing per second and burst healing a bit as well (although the evasive arcana icd will actually come into play here, healing ripple will still work)

And by the way kits of engies also proc weapon swap sigils and those are utility skills.
My point is that anet handles special cases in the code so that attunement swaps and kits proc weapon swap sigils. That means they can likely just as easily code it so that attunement swap isn’t affected by chill. Unless their code base is completely convoluted they shouldn’t have to do much more put a case/switch statement in the code that disable’s chill’s effect in the case that the affected skill’s name is “fire” “water” “air” or “earth”.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I agree, chill is one of the most ridiculous things in game when applied to ele. I don’t see any other class getting weapon swap and corresponding sigil procs crippled by this condition. 66% is just far too much when applied to such a core mechanic, especially with how much chill necros can apply. Spinal shivers is just broken… 5s of chill * condi duration + 3 boon rip, and can be applied from trait AND skill. And too bad if you want to cleanse, since its now eons til you can switch to water or use ether renewal (not that you won’t be feared out of ER anyway with stability stripped). Might as well rename the skill to “ele bane”, since it excels at shutting down almost everything that lets an ele survive.
And it’s obvious that our attunements are not considered purely skills, given the fact that they DO proc weapon swap sigils.

Wow, I’m starting to think Anet is really listening to these forums. Bouquet of roses and character slot sale both requested here and BAM, done.
Hm, that gives me an idea: would you please implement the suggestion in my sig in the gem store
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’m sure they will fix it, but it would be extremely poor judgement indeed if they did not at the same time significantly nerf the fully scaled version. I agree that the fact that we have to resort to this to win is pretty dumb and a sign of bad design.
Endless Petrification Tonic
The chocolate sounds kick kitten by the way. Shrinking and growing on demand? Yes please.
As for the roses, it would be nice to give others a shot at getting them. I was lucky enough to pick them up in their second run when Anet was putting old items in the store every day for a week. For that reason though they might not come back.

I do think classic WvW is gonna be a ghost town for non top servers like mine (CD) from now on. Why bother going to a map with almost nobody where you have to run 10 mins just to find a battle when you can log into an EotM overflow that is full to the brim with players on all sides due to a better populating mechanism (pulling players from all servers)? I think the vast majority of players don’t really give a kitten about world score (including me), so there is really little point to the old maps anymore.
And it’s a positive feedback cycle: more people going to EotM makes classic WvW even more dead which in turn drives more people from classic to EotM, and so on.

I think it’s mostly ranger prejudice. I usually don’t have problems being kicked as ele (only happened once before, and it was at the height of warrior cof farming). I do see the occasional fractal post only wanting guard or war.

Well personally I feel like Sylvari sounds like an American trying to sound British. Also I guess I like the acting to be a little on the “flat” side, since it’s more believable. In real life people aren’t always dramatically inflecting their voices.
Additionally, battle quotes are the main factor for me since those are what I hear 99.999% of the time, especially after finishing personal story. So I care mostly about the aesthetics of the voice itself compared to delivery I suppose. And I find human to be by far the most pleasing in this regard.
Anyways, opinion. I’m sure you get just as ticked off when someone disses Sylvari voice as I do when someone disses human voice.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Sadly, human female, I feel, is one of the worst examples.
Are you serious? Human female is the best pc voice in game, and one of the few I can actually take seriously, because the actor is not trying to fit a caricature. You want laughable, go play a female norn or sylvari.

We already have pink, red, purple, and bright blue, so can we please just get some shades of green? Not talking about the mostly blue blue-greens we currently have. Something like the mintay and leprechaun dyes is what I’d like.

Get a broom if you want to smile. As for me, I think sylvari look ridiculously kitten y with their constant smiling and much prefer the normal look of humans. It’s not like in real life you see people standing around smiling for no reason.

The runes and sigils take 250 sprockets each, and are all very popular, so I could have seen sprockets going sky high. Now I never see them going too high, but I doubt they’ll be less than 30c once Scarletopia is over.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’m more interested in how an insane and entirely uncharismatic/unlikable sylvari like Scarlet managed to form lasting alliances with the dredge, flame legion, a bunch of humans (Aetherblades), and krait (well this one is somewhat explained by the krait just being stupid religious zealots), while never giving any indication that she wants to do anything but kill everybody. Seriously, what do these guys have to gain from siding with her? And she also somehow manages to keep them all from killing each other despite almost all of the involved races being incredibly xenophobic (especially the krait). It renders the coming together of the pact an absolute joke in comparison.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Signing on to say I don’t know who came up with this but this was a terrible idea on many levels.
Endless Petrification Tonic
I’m seriously scratching my head at this move. I understand that this is probably an attempt to keep sprocket prices from ever skyrocketing beyond the rational (and a good attempt at that), but it is completely unfair to previous customers given the price point is the exact same as previous account bound infinite picks. What they SHOULD do is sell a pick upgrade accessory for a couple hundred gems that can add sprocket mining functionality to any infinite pick.

I lost some money on dyes too… been offloading them too slowly since the last release. Still made profit but lost nearly 1000g worth of profit today. Nobody to blame but myself though. Kind of a drop in the bucket after cloth, halloween, and soon to be wintersday profits though. Still it’s annoying knowing I could have about an extra legendary worth of gold if I sold all my quartz and now dyes before the crashes, heh.
Not that I care too much about gold anymore now that I FINALLY bought my coveted endless mystery tonic that afore now could take more gold than several legendaries to acquire.

I’ve been experiencing horrible lag spikes in GW2, and downloaded pingplotter to investigate. It turns out I’m getting 61% packet loss at ae-3-80.edge2.Dallas1. and 15% packet loss at ae-0-0.pr0.chi10.tbone. I live in Wisconsin if that helps.
Edit: Researched further and it seems that this is because the routers ignore TTL=0 ICMP echo requests. So I still can’t explain the obscene lag I’ve been having.

I’m running same trait points but different traits and weapons. D/F is a lot better imo since you can burst and then lightning whip away while invulnerable from obsidian flesh. And projectiles are no concern. But earth I feel is way better for defense and as good or better than fire line for offense, due to all the %damage steroid traits.
I use geomancer’s alicrity to take advantage of focus earth skills and renewing stamina so that you can take advantage of 10% damage increase from earth grandmaster minor far more often (and just increase survivability a ton from dodges). I do also take diamond skin just because it helps with necromancers and engis and honestly it’s not hard to keep up hp since ether renewal heals over half your health bar with a burst build.

Sadly I just started to play a zerk d/f build with amazing burst and good survival due to focus and earth trait points. But I think I’ll have to switch back to a full fledged condition bunker build due to crit damage nerf and the fact that it is now possible to stack sigil of doom and sigil of geomancy/torment.
Then again, stacking sigil of blood and fire might be interesting for zerk.
Endless Petrification Tonic
Irrelevant point. I could say the same thing about attunement swapping as opposed to movement; that is ele specific yes? Since it is so powerful, should we move the ability to swap attunements to a grandmaster trait? Of course not. Just because something is powerful doesn’t mean it has to be hard to access.
I agree Anet probably won’t go back on it, but that doesn’t mean I think their trait balancing logic (in general) is any less flawed.
Endless Petrification Tonic
It’s a waste to use diamond skin with that much condi reduction. The stronger you are against conditions, the less bang you actually get out of diamond skin. Preventing a 10s long bleed is a whole lot more useful than preventing a 3s one after all.
Endless Petrification Tonic
^ Flawed logic, which Anet is mysteriously embracing. I could just as easily say something ridiculous like: “movement is an incredibly powerful and game-changing ability. For this reason we are moving the use of WASD keys to a grandmaster trait.”
Point is, the strength of traits should not be examined in a void, but in how powerful they make us in comparison to other classes. If ele is balanced or UP compared to other classes with elemental attunement as an adept trait or even baseline, that is what it should be. If it is more powerful than other traits then they should instead be brought up to par.

Having many more revealing moves would destroy thief. Many thieves rely on stealth for almost everything: condition removal, healing, and setting up attacks. They can’t fall back on massive hp and armor like wars, so it’s really not fair to give such massive hard counters away that will make a thief lose a well planned battle through no fault of their own.
Saying “it’s ok, because real thieves only evade” doesn’t really cut it, because you have to build specifically for that kind of thief. Neutering stealth neuters a vast array (I would say the majority) of viable thief builds.

Honestly I don’t expect it to fall. You need a ridiculous 300 silk per bolt of damask… there is no way supply can keep up with that. The only reason it’s stayed lower this long is from people offloading millions of silk they’ve hoarded. Wool is also rising slowly but surely.

Anyone else have this happen to them? I finished the Wintersday meta yesterday and clicked the chest, but since I couldn’t decide which toy to get I clicked save for later. However, today the chest in the bottom right corner has disappeared (and I’m on the correct character).
I’ve also noticed problems with those chests in the bottom right when playing snowball mayhem. I played like 10 games in a row once but when I clicked to collect my gifts, only the chests for the last game were there (about 4 gifts).
Edit: Nevermind, noticed it ended up in my inventory. That’s weirdly inconsistent with achievement chests. Still can’t explain the snowball mayhem business though.

Make them into bolts and sell them. Sorry, it doesn’t get more efficient than that. Should have invested in linen like me if you wanted to save time
I wouldn’t sell them all at once though, since silk could feasibly rise more with how much you need. Linen just went from 3s to 6s in a matter of a week, and unfortunately I sold some of mine off at 3s. I’m waiting a while to sell the rest just to see where it ends up.

Remember, a lot of the “helpful” items at the shop is for those players who don’t have the time to play as much as the “hard core”. Therefore items like the extractor or selling gems for gold is there.
Exactly… imagine you have a well-paying job IRL but only get a few hours on the weekends to play. So you have a lot of cash to spend but not much gold in the game. Would you rather spend all weekend grinding gold to buy a new item, buy gems then convert them to gold to buy a new item, or buy this and recover your old upgrade? It trades time for money, which is part of the purpose of the cash shop in the first place.
Not saying that the price is perfect, but if it’s too expensive for you then it’s probably not intended for you.
But since you can trade 250 gems for about 13 gold, the only group this item is targeting is people with disposable income who also happen to be stupid (or have sigils of generosity). The prices for new items are getting more and more mind boggling.

Of course soldier’s is better if you completely ignore two of the seven stats celestial offers: healing power and condition damage. Sheesh. Are you gonna tell me next that 1+1+1=2 if you ignore one of the ones?
I already said celestial is better if you value condition damage as much or more than power, and you just proved my point, since 1767+458 > 2028 by a good margin (nearly 200).
Effective HP is useless to me since it ignores healing power, which for many ele builds is as or more important that vitality (there is a reason why cleric eles used to be the most successful pvp build in game, and not soldier eles). Defensive stats are incredibly build reliant so you can’t decide what to go with based on a flawed measure like effective hp alone unless you have no skills or traits that scale off of healing power. In which case why are you even considering celestial? The only stats that are easy to normalize are power/prec/crit damage, which is why they are the only stats I do so with.
Essentially you have to use stat totals when comparing incomparable stats which vary in effectiveness from build to build. Your build determines the best armor in the end.
For reference I used a similar but slightly different method than effective power. I used “power-matching” to figure out what amount of power alone yielded the same amount of average damage against a fixed armor target as celestial.

That’s because celestial amulet in sPvP is trash, and doesn’t give more stat points compared to other amulets. My analysis is strictly PvE and WvW, where celestial armor gets an approximate 30% more total stat points. My analysis also used a spreadsheet to determine how much “actual damage” the power+prec+crit damage of celestial did compared to pure power.

I’ve had good success with d/f condition build in the past, but I just hate the mobility too much, and it’s worse for soloing camps. For strict dueling though I think it is superior to d/d. I always took 20% off earth cooldown instead of rock solid since earth focus skills are by far the most important focus skills.
I don’t fear any class but thief in duels. But oh man do thieves scare me. I suppose I have been running D/D instead of D/F lately, but I’m finding good thieves are getting harder and harder to beat in any build. I’m interested how you fare against d/p or s/d thieves in WvW.

If anything, water and arcana are even more important now, with synergy between cleansing water, elemental attunement, soothing disrutption, and the new soothing wave. Of course this is WvW only.
And there has always been a ton of synergy between water and arcana, since the lower your attunement cooldowns the more often you can trigger healing ripple and condi cleanse from switching to water. There is nowhere near this level of synergy for ANY other traitlines, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
