Maybe it’s me but I see Guardian more focused on the defensive kind of magical support while hiting people with a bunch of melee weapons….that’s why I suggested Vigor in place of a fire field – which feel quite comon and easy to find these days : longbow from warriors, most of the stuff the elementalist has access to as well as some engi utilities ranger trap and torch. Combo field fire is something which should be reserved for supports focused on the more offensive side of magic.

IMHO they should transfer that phase traversal unblockable thing to something else and leave phase traversal as gap-closer, like you said. Maybe rework impossible odds into some unique buff that takes 30-40 of your energy on activation.

As far as I am concerned the Unblockable buff can stay in Devastation as an unlockable buff via trait selection.

Mind sharing the armor pieces info? I know that the weapons are dominator skins but I have no clue about the armors.

Haven’t played Guardian much in these last days so I won’t comment the shouts,but I would like to make some comments on the staff.

1. This is merely a cosmetic change but since your variant of staff now heals…wouldn’t something like Mystic Strike….since Wrath heals no wounds but deals damage.

2.I feel that fire combo field fire makes it a tad to good for a weapon focused on support…Vigor on the other hand would make for a wonderfull adition.

And in WvWvW when u gank 1 passive+1 active SB is more then enough and if you get CC in mPVP raid vs raid then no SB will help you just bcs there will be more CC then 6 XD

When on God’s given Earth is it ever a good ideea not bring an SB to a CC clusterf@ck of a fight?…isn’t that like refusing to use an umbrela on a rainy day because you know the umbrela will get wet…

The thing with Revenant is that outside of the elite spec he only has like 2 active stun breaks – Jallis ult and Shiro’s Riposting Shadows. The reason why people complain about this is that unless you get empty vessel you can’t switch stances while stuned to use the sodding stun breaker from the other stance – which is bad compared to all the other classes who don’t have to go through the hassle of swapping legends to be able to stun break.

I mean look,like I said Warrior has 5 stun breaks, but I only need 1 and I can always use it when I need it to get out of a CC storm. Thing is if you want Legendary Demon Stance to do better condi damage….you are royaly coocked if you get stuned in that stance and don’t have Invocation to stun break…because you can’t swap legends while stuned to access your d@mn stun breaker!

The main problem is accessibility, while the second problem is that we don’t want to be locked in Invocation to gain the accessibility of the other classes in regard to stunbreaking … we can’t access our d@mn stun breakers when we need it (even with the elite specialization) because we have to swap the kitten legends compared to everyone else who only need to press 1 buton to get out of a stun. We press 2 in a specific order and if we are stuned pressing the first button does NOTHING!

They could always add a Break Stun to One With Nature… If this makes it OP then increase CD to 30sec?

That makes the Revenant’s elite specialization op, while the core class continues to be dreadfull without Invocation and would further consolidate Herald within Revenant builds, killing versatility.

So we would need stun breakers on stuff like Purifying Essence and Embrace the Darkness or Pain Absorbtion to promote build flexibility (being viable without relying on trait lines which perceived as mandatory to be viable) .

Retribution gives you no stun breaks….it gives 1 proc on CC (protection on you, slow on the enemy) and versed in stone which is crap compared to empty vessel because it can trigger while you are not stuned.

Ow and I know you can get stability on dodge from Retribution….thing is you can remove stability by using a weaker CC and then stun – for example: immobile to wipe the stability then serve the stun – what I am trying to say is that thing with Stability on dodge is not a stun breaker,its a means to prevent getting stuned.

Also excluding traits Warrior has 5 stun breakers WITHOUT THE ELITE and not 1 with the elite like you claim!. And because war is my main I am gonna name them for you: Endure Pain, Balanced Stance, Frenzy, Dolyak Signet and Shake it Off.

Also I agree with Lily in the sense that too many viable builds use either Invocation,Herald or both. I would love to be able to play Malyx with Jallis as a condi rev without being scared of geting stuned in Malyx because I don’t run kittening Invocation. And not get me started with Ventari’s stance….that thing actualy sucks with Invocation (in my experience at least).

usual opening:
Shiro—>PT|Legend swap to Mallyx—>trigger sword 4 immob, hit sword 5. as soon as they are pulled hit your elite for a daze, bleed, poison, torment, burning (krait rune). by than the enemy has a few boons, so your AA triggers confusion and boon removal. hehe.

So if they havent melted by than due to all the condi, pressure with Fridge blitz, temporal rift and mace AA. Dont forget to the daze from salvation is on a 10 second timer, so you can cause alot of pressure with all that. And what they wont expect is your heal to cause an aoe blind.

Between S/S and M/A you should have no trouble keeping ontop of your enemy with this build. It does take practice however to get rotations down. But remember to be aggressive. Most do not expect a condition rev to be aggressive.

Well if they would put the Legendary Centaur Stance on an elite specialization and give us a new healing spec that doesn’t revole around us summoning stuff to use our utilities then maybe the devs could give us an elite which replaces the legend swap mechanic for something more practical….like a celestial type buff =))))

Yeah Revenant’s bugs are also getting on my nerves, as well as the fact that there is only 1 promoted way to play Revenant( Shiro+Glint). I hope to see masive improvement for Rev such as Jallis being made reliable.

For me it’s the exact oposite. I can understand that Jallis isn’t usable underwater because a) the skill which makes the blue road would translate weird and b) dwarfs don’t go underwater, they go undertables after a couple of drinks. And I don’t have any problems imagining the stone move underwater – unless there is a bug with targetable stuff underwater…

Sounds like you want to play easy and snipe from Stealth..

It is more tedious than Ranger longbow, because cast time + need to combo XD.

I vote GS for Revenant!!!! But, make it like spear, having 2 AA skills, one ranged, one melee, and with condi.

Wasn’t spear universaly acclaimed for being shaite on Revenant?

Some small suggestions for improving Rev core class:

1)Legendary Dwarf Stance & Retribution trait line

Inspiring Reinforcement – increase duration of Stability given to 2 seconds.
Forced Engagement energy cost lowered to 25.
Rite of the Great Dwarf:no longer breaks stun but reduces condition damage and durations by 50%,reduced cast time to 1

Versed in Stone, this trait is completly reworked to improve Legendary Dwarf Stance abilities:

*Inspiring Reinforcement – range increased to 900
*Vengefull Hammers / Release Hammers – now gives 2 stacks of Retaliation on cast
*Forced Engagement – range increase to 1500
*Rite of the Great Dwarf – now breaks stun and has it’s cast time reduced cast time to 3/4

Reasoning: I feel that these changes would make Jallis more appealing to use ,by trading reliance on RNG for an increase in Jallis’s defensive capabilities. Similar to Ventari, Jallis will function as the primary legend – the one kept up for when engaging an opponent.

2)Legendary Centaur Stance & Salvation Traitline
For the legendary centaur stance I would recommend that the range and base healing of all its skills should be increased. Range should be 360 and Purifying Essence should be a stun breaker.
-Disarming Riposte should have its cool down reduced to 15 seconds.
-Eluding Nullification should have its cool down decreased to 5 seconds
-Momentary Pacification, while in Centaur, Dwarf & Demon,the elite skill will also daze 5 enemies in a 360 radius for 2 1/2 seconds and while in Asassin and Dragon stance the elite skill will generate a water field and 5 healing fragments. (this last bit is due to the bug on Momentary Pacification, where it can’t stack 2 cc effects on an elite).

3)Demon stance & corruption

-Rampant Vex & Demonic defiance should swap places to enhance the defensive nature of Legendary Demon stance(protection vs condi dps) and reduce RNG relliance.
- Venom Enchantment & Opportune Extraction should swap places to restore flexibility for builds within the Coruption skill line.
-Replenishing Despair should scale better with Healing Power, at about a 0.1 coefficient.
-Venom Enhancement should have its cool down reduced to 10 seconds. Reduce the poison duration increase to +33%.
-Spontaneous Destruction should have its cool down reduced to 20 seconds. It’s even less likely to pierce multiple foes than the actual skill since you can’t really control when this one activates.

4) Asassin stance

-Make PT cost 20 energy and remove Unblockable from it.

I felt like that at first…but then I started looking at the final arc for Bleach and was like….fast ranged spamable attacks with a snipe just my work. And if you don’t believe put the Kodan breastplate with the Kodan pants and see for yourself….if you can get an actual mask on him the better.

Too similiar to hammer and to be honest I’d want Greatsword to be a heavy melee wep in the same role as hammer is for ranged. I am all for a ranged weapon for our class but it would have to be condi focused as we lack any kind of ranged condi atm.

As far as ranged condi weapon goes Rym has an awesome suggestion for dagger main hand to fill that role. Also I fail to see the resemblance between hammer and my gs because: a hammer does not come with a jump and b hammer doesn’t have projectile reflect and the ability to grant stealth -> barrier in jump.

Also I just realized I kittened up,the 4 was supposed to prevent enemies from crossing not defend againts projectiles,my bad.

This weapon is an addition for the core Revenant class,it’s designed around defence and applying pressure to enemies.

1. Mistfire Slash – the AA,its a red line blured with dark mist effect,range 900
2. Envoy of Wrath – jump in a targeted area and apply burning, range 600, combo finisher leap, cooldown 10
3. Amplified Surge – a delayed attack which deals burst damage. range 1500, cooldown 25
4. Mist barrier: Creates a line in target area through which foes can not pass. Provides a combo field smoke – duration 5 seconds,cooldown 40
5. Temporal anomaly – spin in place and deflect projectiles, cooldown 25

yeah i dropped rev upon realising anet is gonna keep nerfing it unreasonably

I went back to my Ventari build it’s not the best around but it works. For DPS I usually play thief now.

Mind sharing?Also…as far as Rev goes…they will buff it in time…just like they did war when it was shaite.

This mode is called Siege, it’s a 10 v 10 mode based around 1 team which is attacking a small keep and 1 team which is defending a team. The goal for the attacking team can vary between placing a super magi-science assuran bomb in a key location, capturing a zone and holding said zone for 3 minutes or killing an enemy lord.

I feel having this mode will boost e-sport coverage and give the devs better perspective on how to ballance WvW – which based on what I seen on the forums is one of the most neglected game modes.

Roaming as a revenant isn’t worth it in my opinion, unless you have an elementalist to give you axe for range and might stacking, as AA from hammer is to slow to get stuff done in ambushes.

See? This is the kittening problem here. We dont even have any alternative to this kittened sword. And it single target damage is not that great either to make up for it.

Unlike sword ,the staff’s AA has a cap of 3 targets while sword has a cap of 1 target. If you hit more than 1 target with sword AA,then damage is lowered,but with staff you can AA 3 targets for full AA damage. So if we are talking about dps vs multiple targets then staff is better than sword.

To answer your question…yeah use the staff 1,2 & 5 is all I use for pve….along side hammer 3 & 5.

Dude.. sword auto has a cap of 3 targets and the rift can hit up to 12 times as well. In terms of aoe auto damage, sword beats staff by miles. Problem is all sword has is this auto, anything else result in massive dps loss.

Based on the in game description of the skill that doesn’t seem to be the case…meh I do ok with staff and hammer in Spvp and thats all that matters,cya.

It’s great until you need to use a ranged weapon The hammer is ok for solo stuff but try and use it in a group – you’ll definitely notice how horribly slow amd awful it is. Oh and if you’re condi spec for a ranged fight – enjoy spectating it.

That said yeah it’s a fun class. Kinda main it in PvE since my Mesmer has such horrible damage output.

The hammer has one of the strongest autoattacks and damaging abilities tied to it, it’s far from the worst ranged weapon.

What’s more, unlike rangers who need to trait so that their autoattack pierces, the revenant has that baseline. It’s super easy to tag with the hammer.

It’s a terrible ranged weapon because it’s so slow. It’s fine for solo where you actually need the stun and evades (and some bosses granted), but it’s a useless PvP wep sadly.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, the stun, the evade, the damage – all great for pvp too. But it’s heavily telegraphed and takes a long time to get off which makes it far too easy to avoid.

As far as group stuff goes…I imagine my hammer is a sniper, I use the AA only if I have a combo field or Shiro to boost atk speed,make the hammer feel like an AK47.

So are revenants fine in pve?

Im not going to waste my time leveling something I wont enjoy, when lots of people are saying the same thing its usually true, so maybe you shouldnt tell others that all the time.

You don’t have any ideea whether you are going to like revenant based on these comments. Give the rev a spin at least at lvl 30 in the dungeons or in sPvP – I mean me not likeing Glint…that’s my oppinion only….and who knows maybe you will find something about Glint you will like….or other legends.

The problem is I dont want to end up with just auto attack spam, with all the complaints I hear from others about this and energy management complaints this is the impression it gave.

3 Legends is something I would like as well and based on the state of Revenant right now…it is possible, but managing Legendary Centaur Stance in this condition is going to get really tricky.

Which PvE content? For the dungeons it’s still good, for raids…from what I read unless herald (buff bot) Rev’s aren’t wanted. PvP….kitten knows with the nerf on Phase Travel – most people hate it with a burning passion.

Elite specs are mandatory in all raids. You’re acting as if because they only want Heralds, revs are neglected when the same applies to any class.

How many rangers instead of DRUIDS are wanted in a raid? How many mesmers instead of CHRONOMANCER.

Buran.3796 covered the quintessence of what I wanted to say, but I will add this – you got me totaly wrong, Zenith.7301…thing is I hate the playstyle of Herald to my very core and the fact that if I try and go raiding with randoms people will tell me to kitten off for not using Glint stance, because of the amount of sodding boons that thing generates.

In PvE raids as long as the team has Tempest, Chronos and Druids no other classes are requiered, so Revs are more or less like most of other classes.

In dungeons, fractals and open PvE they work well (anything works here). They have also powerfull tools vs AI due the large amount of skills that can wipe the cc bar of foes, which is a good thing.

Cleric: Healing, Power, and Toughness.

Minstrel: Toughness, Healing, Boon Duration, and Vitality.

Cleric. You can without any effort get perma protection and regen without Ministrels.

You will have to take specific traits and spam that Ventari’s will for days though.

Now in the real world, revenant has been a top tier class in pvp since release. It got some slight nerfs, but so did other top tier classes so it’s most likely still in the top classes in the meta.

In pve one revenant is pretty taken on every raid team.

It is however a fairly difficult class to play properly in pvp.

Be warned…if you go in a raid as a revenant people willl want you to use Glint and based on my research on the forum…any revenant who does not want to use Glint is not welcomed in any raid party.

Spend for something else. As rev you will only autoattack everything to death. In 1vX let it be players or mobs you will deal drastically lower damage from abilities than auatk due to “interesing” desing of sword. Rev is in broken beta state, fun to play at first but youll quickly become bored.

Why use sword vs multiple opponents? Go mace or staff for that…sword is bad for multiple target dps.

Personaly I always did good with Hammer in sPvP….I just try to imagine I am playing with a sniper rifle and then the slow AA stops being a pest….and pop imposible odds when I need a proper “rifle”. Also hammer AA needs a combo field to get maximum utility/dps.

As far as fractals go….I find it difficult to imagine you struggling without herald…but I never got to do fractals with rev.

With Ventari and Herald you could also dub as a guardian for reflect…but you need the trait that makes ventari grant regen from salvation and the 1 that gives might when you apply a boon….that way you can have might + regen upkeep for no cost + on demmand projectile reflect.

Ventari as a concept is my favorite stance but it’s very impractical because of how bad it scales with healing power…but there are some things you can try out with it…besides that dumb combo for stackig regen and might for no upkeep cost. With Momentary pacification and Diabolic Inferno you can turn that Ventari Tablet into an awesome trap.

With Jallis you can only go wrong if you are fighting on uneven terrain/bridges/closed areas because the spining hammer thing is bugged to all heaven in the sense that the skill automaticaly deactivates when you hit uneven terrain or other in game objects….and if you don’t intend to tank then you will probably want to avoid the chain.

Malyx is pretty ok but I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love it only when I got the trait that gives Resistance whenever you use a Demon stance skill, but hate it otherwise….mace on the other hand is my favorite weapon for pve, hands down better than sword which is kitten when fighting multiple opponents but very good for single target dps.

So are revenants fine in pve?

Which PvE content? For the dungeons it’s still good, for raids…from what I read unless herald (buff bot) Rev’s aren’t wanted. PvP….kitten knows with the nerf on Phase Travel – most people hate it with a burning passion.

Sword on rev doesnt seem like a boring playstyle to me, also just because ele goes into melee range does not mean anything like a battlemage, a battlemage usually has martial and magical ability. And im sorry if that sounded rude but it baffles me when people think ele is a type of battlemage, maybe with conjured weapons but they arent up to par right now.

And I take the forums like a grain of salt when it comes to what people consider bad or good, I only asked about the playstyle, every forum class is saying they are being over nerfed, and only one or two weapons are useful, what are the chances of that really happening? Come on now, I really dont think thats believable.

If its true what you said, that is kind of sad, but its the first time im hearing about this.

In that case Elementalist,Mesmer and Necro with melee weapons as well as Guardian, and Revenant should fit the bill thematicaly for the “battlemage feel”, but seriously now,check them for yourself. Many people said in the past that sword skills on thief or sword and dagger on thief suck but I made them work for me in what I consider to be a good harass build.

Any recent comments from devs?

Decreased cd of Save yourselves to 38 sec.
Decreased cd of Bane signet to 22 sec.
Decreased cd of Signet of mercy to 100 sec.
Decreased cd of Sanctuary to 75 sec.

Although miniscule I’ve reached the point where my expectations are so low I would honestly rejoice to see even these minor reductions in CD on a few skills again.

  • No, it doesn’t “fix” the Guardian.
  • No, it doesn’t make the skills in question meta.
  • Yes, I’d totally be happy to see at least a positive note for Guardians.

P.S. I still fear a total nerf to DH in all game modes by making the traps NOT trigger if enemies are on them already.
Illustration:

  1. You fight an enemy in melee range.
  2. You use a trap.
  3. Nothing happens and your enemy leaves the trap.
  4. Enemy returns to you in melee range, stepping back onto the trap.
  5. The trap triggers.

This would demolish any bursting capabilities on the DH and give players a good 10 seconds to scan the battlefield for the following checklist:

  • Am I in combat? [Y/N]
  • Is there a Dragonhunter to be seen anywhere? [Y/N]
  • Are there obviously spotted blue glowing Dragonhunter traps placed anywhere? [Y/N]
  • Can I resist the urge to step on them? [Y/N]

After this nerf there’d be more complaints and we’d get another damage nerf + radius decrease + extra activation time (making Dragonhunters easily interrupted during the casting time as a fun throwback to GW1) and to finish it off they’d double the recharges to make the traps more like a “trump card”.

That would or could also hurt necromancer staff skills since they pretty much enjoy the same kind of benefit.
