You can go with this if you have cooking and buck toons of gold to spare on food and gear.

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQJATWnsAB9Ch97AekittendilEiS+5j+sHbDeuy8aZDgLA-TlSDQBi7QAoRlGOZ/hXpEUCPAA5oL4BXBALp+DAMBFFlZBAOA88zP/8zP3yLv8yLnUARM0C-w

The only downside to this is build is that it’s centered around the Force of Will to get maximum benefit from the food and other related traits. But you can totaly ditch Dragon Hunter for Virtues.

I have two questions, sorta related:

Why do you have such a high ferocity, and next to no precision? Wouldn’t the ferocity just sit unused without the crits to proc the extra damage?

And why did you select traits that only proc on crits when your precision is so low?

Insta crit runes on weapon swap is my answer to the first question and secondly,no clue this is sort of a joke build I edited for a guy who wanted high hp, high power and no precision because of the insta crit runes on weapon swap.

Here is the link for the original post and build….you can find alternate rune/gear options to keep those high numbers

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Staffow-Build-WvW-roam-s-scale/first#post6190209

…if Scepter wasn’t absolute kitten I would never have considered Dragon Hunter for a ranged Support/Healing build

As seen in post theme is pretty annoying considering Guardian is a front line based class with little backrow options… the build is focused on having big numbers with burst limited by weapon swap mechanic. This build would probably deal double damage if the guy was using 2 Longbows instead of a Longbow and a Staff (assuming weapon swap works if you are swaping to the same weapon).

Edit: the reason why I call this a joke build is because I have problems accepting Guardians and Revenants as being competent for the role of backrow support due to their lack of variety in Ranged Weapons and the lack of utility from Virtues (the guy wanted 2 competent ranged weapons on his guardian)

oh dear god… this explains so much… I was wondering about the weapon choices… Guardian can do a decent healing and buff role if specced correctly, but this isn’t quite it.

Edit: I’m going with hammer and mace/shield. As you pointed out, ranged isn’t an option here. I’m thinking Honor/Valor/Virtues. Seems to make the most sense.

Greatsword is better than Hammer for PvE content and Hammer is better for PvP content. Also Honor/Valor and Virtues is my go to for support specs on Guardian. Also to keep the same number values from my build you could go with either nomad or minstrel.

I also have a guild mate who is a pretty strong advocate of GS and Staff for tank/healer game play so you could probably find some inspiration for that combo.

A discussion about the aesthetic of Revenant

in Revenant

Posted by: Jack Skywalker.5674

Jack Skywalker.5674

So I wanted to go back to playing Revenant, but as soon as I logged in, I decided to log out because I wasn’t in the mood to fight the realities of Revenant….that it tries to be a jack of all trades, master of none and fails miserably, that there is too little build variety to have fun, etc etc.

So I decided to tackle on Revenant from a different perspective….the perspective of aesthetics and perceived class favor. When one reads the descriptions of Revenant on the Guild Wars 2 official website one expects to roll as a battle mage, the guy who uses a combination of spell and blade to kick kitten – this feel is then contectualized by the fact that you are taking power from the mists to enable your spellweaving.

No one expects to be thrown as f@king support/boon boting when they roll this class! ….unless they were smart and read the forums – most of us feel dumb right now in some regard, for being praised as better front line boon bots than the Guardians.

The reason why Revenant feels more like a support class, than a dps class is because we don’t have enough weapon variety to be able to get creative in dealing dps and because the devs set Revenant to be an overachier, to be very good at lots of roles while restricted to the legend swap mechanic, the energy swap mechanic and before launch with being unable to swap weapons.

What I would do is reduce the number of roles a Revenant can fill and specialize him in more specific roles. To be more specific I would consolidate his position as a front line class while takeing away some of his usefullness in the backrow.

You can stop reading here if you don’t care about stuff I would change!

The first set of changes concern the Legendary Dwarf Stance:

Inspiring Reinforncement, would be changed to a shout type skill, would no longer deal damage and apply a combo field, but instead provide retaliation to the caster and allies in adition to stability, while enemies would be afflicted with both taunt and weakness. The values of these conditions and boons would of course be adjusted to fit a shout skill.

Forced Engagement: will be made a skill shot. It will deal damage and provide a slow, but instead of taunting the target it will pull it towards the caster. Would make this count as an interupt

Vengefull Hammers: would remove the healing effect and the unblockable effect, then set it’s cost to -5.

Rite of the Great Dwarf: You and nearby allies gain 1 stack of stability, 50% direct damage and condition damage reduction. Cast time would be reduced to 1 and would drain -10 and not have an energy cost to cast and stun break on cast.

To match the changes to Rite of the Great Dwarf, Versed in Stone would be changed to: Elite skills apply Stability to you and nearby allies. Range 180.

My reasoning for these changes were the following:

1)Loads of people complained about the “Lighting Road” being too small for group play, very little use outside of securing finishing blows in pvp and increasing movement speed with Inspiring Road + combo field blast from mace or hammer during leveling.

2) If Anet isn’t going to fix the colision thing than they might as well spare us the useless healing effect and the penalty on energy regen. The removal of unblockable was to better justify reducing the enrgy cost.

3) Too Pve Centric, made it decent in both PvP and Pve, also compensates for lack of options when dealing with ranged opponents.

4) I made it so that this ult was worth having a high cost of some form….I mean come on perpetual stun breaks and Rite of Great Dwarf buff + the further reductions from the current Versed in Stone…this is totaly worth the costings.

My second set of changes would target Coruption.

1)Rampant Vex and Demonic Defiance would swap places on the trait line.

2)Venom Enchantment and Opportune Extraction would swap places on the trait line.

3) Will refrain from commenting on Pulsating Pestilence as there is a thread monitored by Anet for creating a better trait – because Pulsating Pestilence does not do what is advertised on the tooltip.

Reasoning: when it comes to handling conditions Malyx is the jack of all trades stance, it removes, applies and converts conditions at the same time and it barely gets it right. With the changes I proposed I aim to limit the boon removal aspect of Legendary Demon Stance in order to consolidate condition application , defence vs enemy condition dealers and make the trait line more flexible for players. Not much space to improve this until autumn when we see with what trait Anet will replace Pulsating Pestilence.

#3

This is the final change I would make for Revenant and it’s quite massive, it revolves turning the whole Legendary Centaur Stance into a weapon kit for Revenant’s second Elite Specialization, the Ritualist which revolves around weapon kits and replacing it with a stance designed for front line support.

My front line support stance for Revenant is called Legendary Lightbringer Stance and is based around my favorite charr in the Guild Wars 2 mythos, Tybalt Leftpaw (he made a good impresion on me due to his funny ideeas and background story as a mist champion).

The healing skill (6) is called Golden Apple Drop, it is a target on ground skill with 600 range and 120 radius which heals for 360 and applies 1 stack of Resistance (3 sec) from up to 5 targets in that area. It costs 25 energy and has a 1/2 cast time

The first utility (7) is called Rotten Apple, it is a sustained skill which destroys any healing orbs within a 600 range area and replaces them with rotten orbs which explode in a 120 radius area converting 1 boon into either poison, torment or slow (40% to have a boon turn to torment, 30% to have it turn into poison, 30% to have it turn into slow). The cost is -7, 5 energy and the explosion is unblockable…later down the line I will add traits which make Lightbringer stance generate more healing orbs so don’t stress

The second utility (8) is called Cider Barell and it functions like a bomb kit,set a time charge (1/2 cast time) and when it explodes, it creates a combo field blast, deals 620 damage and spawns 5 healing orbs. It costs 20 energy.

The third utility (9) is called Double Red it costs 15 energy and it enhances the effects of Golden Apple Drop, Rotten Apple & Cider Barell.

*Golden Apple removes 2 conditions
*Rotten Apple creates 5 rotten orbs when activated
*Cider Barell spawns 10 healing orbs and costs 5 energy less

The elite skill (0) is called Claw of Fate (because charr, lol) and it is a targeted combo field blast which dazes enemies in the blast radius for 1,1/2 seconds, heals allies for 985 HP and spawns 10 healing orbs. The range is 600, energy cost is 40 and the cooldown is 7.

Salvation remains the traitline for the Lightbringer stance, but small changes are made.
Nourishing Roots, Blinding Truth, and Natural Abundance are removed, while Tranquil Benediction and Momentary Pacification gets reworked (so that the latter doesn’t bug Jade Winds and Chaotic Relase)

Nourishing Roots is replaced with An Apple a day which makes Golden Apple apply Regeneration
Blinding Truth is replaced with Fast Thinking, which gives you Swiftness when you succesfully interupt an opponent
Natural Abundance is replaced with Thinking Outside the Box, which makes Echoing Eruption and Drop the Hammer to spawn 2 healing orbs.

Tranquil Benediction – is no longer restricted to affecting the healing orbs from the staff.
Momentary Pacification – whenever you use a healing or an elite skill, blind nearby enemies in a 360 radious. 10 Recharge time (now this is a grand master:P)

My only issue with Jallis is the Elite Skill. I believe that by default it should provide both direct and condition damage by 50% and that Versed in Stone should make the elite grant Stab and Retaliation instead of breaking stuns.

That’s some hard nerf to all non-invocation herald builds sustain…

My bad…I forgot that versed in stone has a 50% chance to make the elite of Jallis trigger…yeah that can stay in that talent (even though I don’t use it).

Also, you realize that with the way Jalis is, Shro/Glint builds out classes any Jalis related builds easily. Shiro has its mobility (at least some) Glint has its boons and heal. What does Jalis have? an elite that costs 50 energy and lasts for just 5 seconds. Stab you can get elsewhere cheap, swiftness you can get elsewhere and the condi removal isnt even worth it with the weaknesses it has.

People have tried Jalis builds and realized how bad it is so you should have a lot more problems with it other than the elite.

Jallis has a very reliable self heal, outside of that the utilities are designed in the spirit of tab target mmo-s and the elite….cast time too long to be a stun breaker and too little benefits, I would rather the elite give more buffs for 50 energy and a long cooldown.

Revenant got some burst with UA and shiro’s heal and it really makes some people lose their kitten in PvP but after that, there isn’t really much sustainable damage left.
As for PvE, I kinda feel sad as I was considering getting the achievements for upcomming legendary armor and I heard people started discarding revenants out of raids. And still if they wouldn’t, the role of boon duration aura bot doesn’t look appealing for this class.

I heard that non Legendary Dragon Stance get denied slots in raids….did that change while I was away?

Generally speaking other classes aparat from thief gains cd reduction. It means that technically rev with invocation should be able to swap more often like every 7sec. 15% was build baseline into classes and extra 15% was added to profession minor trait. Empty vessel would be a good candidate for that.

Also worth noting that they will neer buff revenant. If anything prepare for more nerfs as community for whatever reason still crying about this dog class already.

I never meant the state of gw2 as a whole when I said that :P

Because if we are talking about frontlines and positioning, it’s likely it’s about WvW? How often in spvp are you having fights where there’s more than 2-3 people?

In what kind of fights do you think you’ll find a well played auramancer? And where do necromancers position themselves?
There is a frontline in SPvP be it obvious or not, all you need is another ally to have one.

No, frontline/backline talk general refers to WvW and zerg play not PvP. Stating that you have another ally with us as a Frontline is just grasping for straws.

If it’s a premade and the puggies roam like idiots then both Varezenem and Lonewolf Kai are right. If it’s general sPvP, then I think Varezenem is right because there are builds in sPvP where you are as good as dead if you don’t have any straw to grasp for, like Fresh Air tempest (the one with scepter) or Druid Shoutbow.

I would like to add however that as a someone who jumps in matches with random blokes in sPvP you can never trust your team mates to position themselfes right (from your perspective)…that’s why most people either go with front row builds and a ranged wep on the side or some hybrid bs….it’s not sad it’s the truth…this is a game where positioning matters to a certain extend….but most solo gamers would rather see that positioning is made reduntant because they play with randoms more so than they do with their friends.

Ranting

Jack Skywalker.5674

A small rant on archtype perception vs actual functionality of a class. The classes I want to rant about a bit are Revenant and Guardian. The rant is solely about theme and purpose….no OP bs.

Although Revenants are supposed to be guys in heavy armor who devastate enemies with mostly melee weapons and magic and Guardians are the dudes in the heavy armor who uses their magic to protect their allies…I feel that things work exactly the other way around – Guardians are the blokes who are better at smiteing foes with sword and spell, regardless of whether or not they can use a longbow, while Revenants are actualy better at bolstering their allies defences provided they are able to call upon the power of Glint (let’s be honest Malyx is decent for removing conditions…provided none of your allies are either Necromancers or a Guardian with “Save Yourselves” + “Contemplation of Purity” on the bar).

The most shamefull difference between Revenant and Guardian is that Revenant is locked in certain trait combinations to be effective while Guardian is free to mix it up a lot more than the Revenant.

Also another glearing thing for me are the staves (my english is soo shaite,I can’t remember the plural for staff) of both Guardian and Revenant….isn’t Revenant’s kit for staff better suited for what is stated on the official website to be the Guardian’s role, while the Guardian staff…..would actualy suit the Revenant if some of the skills were renamed from symbols to facets (because based on Glint’s kit….Revenant’s are all about the facets mate).

The shields for both classes are also a piece of work – I am talking about the no 4 on both of them…they are soo good for backrow support…wish they were on the same weapon…with the conditions that Envoy of Exuberance also aplied Aegis and Shield of Judgement had a knockdown instead of giving Aegis.

If cross class mechanics would ever be a thing, I hope they cross Guardians and Revenants. With energy mechanic alongside basic Virtues, Guardians would be better Heralds than Revenants XD.

Well I am happy to see that loads of ideas has been discused on this thread since my break from GW2 to try out Grindframe and I would now like to pitch in.

Varezenem.2813, mate while I respect your understanding of the Legendary Centaur stance, there is this one thing I need to say to you….being a backline healer with just melee weapons feels counter intuitive as f@ck! Yeah I know that as revenants we don’t have many ranged weapons and some skills on hammer were bugged when I left for Grindframe (Warframe), but compared to smth like staff elementalist or auramancer.

Josh Davis ,Associate Global Brand Manager, I lived in various cavse called wow private servers and Rift the mmorpg, and haven’t heard much about GW2 after you launched HoT. Now 8 months after you launched HoT, I have to ask…now because I’ve built the courage….considering the fact you had Guardians to play the role of the battle mage focused on defensive magic – the guy who in theory based on his archtype should be the frontline healer…why did we get awesome support kits, which better than some of the stuff the Guardians have (compare Legendary Dragon Stance to Guardian’s staff)?

I am greatfull for Legendary Centaur and to some extent Dragon stance (it’s not my fav, to be honest) but shouldn’t Revenant be the battle mage with heavy armor focused on offensive magic?

It may not be intuitive but it is how it works. If you want to use Ventari on frontline support you should request Jalis buffs mostly. (Jalis/Ventari could fulfill that role)

I’d preffer they fix hammer….I like Ventari + Hammer for backrow. For front row I would use mace + shield, because shield is somewhat intuitive for playing at backrow (my experience with rev shield is very small). In the absence of scepter or range dagger or any sort of 1 handed ranged weapon mace is allright for a support setup, even in backline…just buff your fellow backrow coleagues with mace 2 & 3, then use shield 4 to top of front row and resume to hammer/tablet action.

Also I don’t give a kitten about how things are….I care more about how the devs change things and giving my 2 pence on what changes need to be done.

Jack Skywalker.5674

Since when invocation became mandatory? Retri+herald stab trait is still enough to shrug off any cc. Stunbreak on swap is nice perk to have sometimes but definitely not mandatory. The only mandatory line rev has is herald really. I would argue about retri being mandatory as well due to dwarf battle stance+stab and dmg reductions which is hard to let go (if you played with berserker amulet like me).

Stability does not remove CC,it just prevents it. You can’t dodge while stuned so thats why I would argue that Invocation is mandatory for empty vesel. Most players would bait a rev’s dodges out before CC-ing.

No…not really…if you get baited to dodge you are f@cked. Thats why most herald builds run both Retri and Invocation. I would love to see empty vesel be moved to an Elite Specialization so that we can have 1 stun break per legend and no 2 mandatory trait lines for whatever the kitten we want to play.

The only thing that ties Legendary Centaur Stance with the Staff is that 1 trait in Salvation (it’s called Tranquil Benediction) which makes it so that orbs grant Regen and Swiftness.

Illias covered the reason why I think Staff is a good standalone weapon. However part of me wishes that Hardening Persistence and Tranquil Benediction swap places in the trait line and that staff was the Herald only weapon and shield was part of the core class.

But then again I kinda hate the Legendary Dragon Stance and I am very glad that I don’t have my favorite melee weapon in the whole game tied to Herald trait line.

This is sort of a switch-a-roo act in the sense that I am redesigning scepter to be an off hand weapon from a main hand and torch as a main hand from being an off hand.

Torch main hand (level 80 stats no gear – as seen on )
1) Azure Blaze (the AA)has a range of 425 deals 236 damage and applies 1 stack of burning in a cone to 3 targets and has the same animation as the Berserker’s torch #4,but instead of a shockwave of air it’s a shockwave of blue flames. Recharge is 1/2
2) Zealot’s Flame & Zealot’s Fire will stay the same.
3) Cleansing Fire is a targeted skill which removes 2 conditions and is a combo finisher blast.

Scepter off hand (level 80 stats no gear – as seen on )
Scepter 4 – the same as scepter 2 but range is 900 and radius is 300
Scepter 5 – the same as scepter 3

Yes….water for dps is bad….you usualy just pop appropiate cd’s then switch to the element which has the strongest aa once you are done.

If you want to play around ice combos, then you’re rotation should be staff air 4 pre combat, into earth 1 to initiate, earth 2 because the skill on it has a delay before going off, into staff 4 to set up the ice combo field, then go into fire for burst…by the time you reach fire you’re staff 2 earth skill would have triggered on top the ice field.

Is there a good ice dps build for pve?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Jack Skywalker.5674

Jack Skywalker.5674

“Is there a good ice dps build for pve?”

Simple: NO
Water or like you call it, Ice. Is not supposed to be the DPS Element. Staff = Fire, Dagger = Air, Scepter = Fire/Air
What you try to build is a theme build. I understand that, but in Dungeons, Fractals and Raids you are just giving your team a Handicap. For Roleplay or stuff like that it could be fun. But if you really want to play the three named parts of PvE, be preparred to get flamed a lot. Elementalists have there Role and that is for most parts high DPS. You can adapt to all hitboxes and can play all weapons, aslong you use them right. If you try to be something that you are not supposed to be, people will get mad at you. And you cant blame them for that. We all are playing for Success and nobody wants to get handicaped.

Ice isn’t for roleplay, it has cc and dps, I’ve played plenty of rpgs with these uses, and if you read jy other replies you would see I said nothing about only using ice, also yes you can blame them if you aren’t joining meta groups, plenty of people use their own builds, that is why we have an lf g tool to type stuff out for people to see.

This is GW2. Unlike WoW and TES Ice gives you no cc and dps! What I made for you is a role play build…because the traits you want on ice do not exist in this game for ice. If you looked closer to the build I made you, you would have seen that all you got is a support build with 1 weapon (ignoring the 1 you can conjure) and themed utilities! (outside of ice bow most of those utilities are actualy good).

So let’s get you straight now…Ice is water in solidified form and this game preceives Ice as a subset of water…therefore all ice/water abilities IN THIS GAME takes AWAY FROM YOUR dps so you can support your teams with mostly heals and boons.

If you want to do dps and cc as an elementalist…then the combos you need to be looking at are fire+earth IN THIS GAME!

Revanant underwater low levels feedback

Jack Skywalker.5674

Ryou, the trouble is… if you unlocked other legends, you don’t have the hero points to unlock shiro and / or mallyx at level 8-10. and there is no indication beforehand that those are the underwater legends. the default heal upon character creation is Jallis Ironhammer’s heal, which cannot be used underwater because Jallis cannot be slotted underwater.

Well at those levels I didn’t have any issues underwater, in fact no one should, also shirt does have a great heal don’t slot for hall first and go for shiro I don’t see how that’s a problem.

The guy did not invest in the same kitten as you did when your Revenant was between lvls 8 & 10. He has no Shiro, no Malyx and most likely no hero points to unlock them.

Is there a good ice dps build for pve?

Jack Skywalker.5674

Scepter main hand has the most ice themed abilities. For the off hand weapon I would recomend dagger as it has more helpfull ice themed abilities than focus. You don’t need condition damage for this.

If you are willing to sacrifice a utility slot however Ice Bow is your best source for ice themed abilities, condition damage and healing.

Now go make a build based around scepters or Ice Bow or both. Please bare in mind that this is not wow and the element of your attacks will never register…so whatever build you make…it will be solely for role play and would most likely be subpar….this is the best Ice Mage build I can devise.

A question about scepters

Jack Skywalker.5674

This is a question for both devs and guardian comunity about scepters.
Could it be remade into an off hand weapon seeing that the AA is very bad for doing dps?Scepter skills #2 and #3 would obviously be the off hand abilities for this variant of the scepter.

Staffow Build WvW roam - s/scale

To maintain the same stats you can either get Superior Rune of the Scrapper or Superior Rune of the Reaper…they have the same numbers as Superior Rune of the Brawler. Any other runes mess up the stats. Also removing Force of Will nets in a huge hp loss…so that’s the only imovable trait in the whole build…all others can be swaped though.

If general boon duration is something you are interested in…then go Superior Rune of Surging, you lose 6 power but all your elites apply shocking aura, you can also go with a rune that buffs a specific boon, just as long as you get the +100 power from having multiple runes…..or you can buff your critical damage like crazy with Superior Rune of Scholar (because a good defense is a brutal offense).

If you go with either Scholar’s or runes which increase boon duration, you will have to swap out 2 +5 vitality infusion for 2 +5 toughness infusion to maintain the rules you imposed for the build.

You could also go with Superior Rune of the Daredevil if you feel fine with trading dodges for more dps from critical strikes. Finaly if you don’t like any of the utilities on these alternative runes my final recomendation is this f@ck the utility from runes and go for maximum power, by using 1 of the following runes in conjunction with 5 superior runes of the brawler:
1)superior rune of the enginer
2)superior rune of the guardian
3)superior rune of the reaper

Those are the best options I can think of mate.

Small suggestions for Rev core class

in Revenant

Jack Skywalker.5674

Coruption’s DPS is solely built around crits….which personaly I dislike because I hate RNG based mechanics, that’s why I recomended that Rampant Vex be moved in a place where we are not forced into critical strike based play style.

If Embrace the Darkness remains the elite skill, then Diabolic Inferno can be changed to this: Burn nearby foes when using an elite skill. If the elite skill used is Embrace the Darkness than gain an aura which applies burning unto enemies.

@Rym for me Momentary Pacification made sense because Salvation and Ventari are based around a defensive play style, that’s why I recommended that the effect of Momentary pacification varries for each legend, given the ones who already have CC on elite create a water combo field instead….while I like that Unwavering Mercy trait, I feel it would make Heralds very close to OP due to the amount of skills with Upkeep it has available compared to core class legends (ventari hilariously enough benefits the least with only 1 upkeep skill). Maybe make it a flat bonus while under the effect of Regeneration.

What is a good revenant solo PvE build?

Glint+ anything except Ventari, alongside Invocation,Retributin & Herald. Optimal weapons Sword main hand + sword offhand or shield + hammer.

Thats mostly the meta these days….I would wait for next patch…Anet could no longer ignore complaints about Revs and will rework or fix stuff that sucks.

4) Asassin stance

-Make PT cost 20 energy and remove Unblockable from it.

So, we assumed that the reason they put a CD and increased the energy cost of PT was a couple of unblockable attacks?

Cause I thought they didn’t want us to be able to use it that frequently and chain powerful attacks.

I think that the idea of PT becoming blockable isn’t good and will just reduce the skill functionality and synergy with other skills (there was a reason they geve it 2 unblockable attacks in the 1st place). O

The reason why the attacks were powerfull was that they couldn’t be blocked.People mostly used PT as a gap closer and without a decent gap closer we get royaly rekt by anyone who has access to a ranged weapon. Also we get Unblockable from a Devastation trait so no bigy there.

Still you have got me thinking now…what if PT costed between 20 & 25 energy, did no damage but gave the 2 stacks of Unblockable instead.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone else have any alternate proposals for Momentary Pacification?

Look up Rym’s thread with suggestions for Revenant, while slightly outdated some of the stuff regarding Ventari and Malyx are still true.

While we are at it can we have stun break on Puryfing Essence and this weapon for Revenant core class: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/revenant/Revenant-s-Main-Hand-Ranged-Dagger/first#post6164131

I would rather they replaced that with a more defensive talent like stun break on pain absorbtion. Condi Rev without invocation feels like a glass cannon and some def vs hard cc while in Malyx would be nice.

Jack Skywalker.5674

I wouldn’t use wierd to describe Guardian with access to an easy spamable fire field which has some really good healing on papper, it’s just that I see Guardian oriented around boon support rather than combo field generation…I won’t go into how Herald gives us a run for our money and beats us with our own money at times…but yeah maybe your change is for the best.

Let me give a more thematic name for Anvil of Light -> Cobalt Maelstorm or Cobalt Storm …in honor of the most thematic GS for a Guardian, Cobalt -> https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cobalt

Redeeming PT for Shiro

in Revenant

Posted by: Jack Skywalker.5674

Jack Skywalker.5674

I’d be okay with that as long as the damaging part of it remains. That helps keep the target in combat when they flee. As it is now, a fleeing target is the only time I use PT, and only if I know I have help coming up behind me. Otherwise I’ve got nothing except AA. I used to actually like PT’ing and then Sword 5, to drag the target back. Can’t do that now.

I never thought of trying that combo….I was to absorbed by staff/hammer gameplay (I simply like the playstyle of those weapons).

The trait is actually working as intended (25% chance to apply torment), but the tooltip is incredibly inaccurate.

That said, I don’t think it’s GM worthy with a 15s ICD. How does 10s sound?

The tooltip is useless, not inaccurate, because it completly missleads players! I haven’t read a more disturbing post in my life.

You know what would sound good kind sir?

a)you guys at Arenanet making accurate tooltips
b)having traits do exactly what the tooltips say
c)remove that trait alltoghether as it is unworthy of GM status even with 5 s ICD

While the other guys made some major mistakes on their argument (so major it’s not worth my time) , you did a not so small mistake either. Stability is only removed by hard CC (CC that can interrupt) therefore cripple won’t remove stability.

Take Chorazin’s trait and make your own gear plan mate. Also if we had your mate’s builds and what they want to do….maybe it would be easier for us to understand exactly what your’re role should be in that 3 man.

If utility means clearing conditions, then use Gokil.2543’s utility setup, else keep Chorazin’s setup for utilities, then replace Receive the Light with either healing signet or Shelter if you don’t want to be responsable with healing. You seem sold on ArchonWing.9480 to be fair.

Edit:http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQJATWnsAB9Ch97AekittendilEiS+5j+sHbDeuy8aZDgLA-TlSDQBi7QAoRlGOZ/hXpEUCPAA5oL4BXBALp+DAMBFFlZBAOA88zP/8zP3yLv8yLnUARM0C-w

This build respects all the rules you set except for the one about the staff AA having to be able to apply burn…in my build staff cleave has a good chance to poison instead of burn…if you time your attacks right however…you could apply both burn and poison (3 aa from bow,2 from staff).

I kept the utility bit to a minimum because based on your comments I realized you are more interested in doing ranged dps than provide support….that’s why the build dosen’t use the virtues trait line. The only reason why Wall of Reflection is there is because in 1 of your comments you stated that you liked the ability.

I chose Honor over Virtues so you can revive faster, apply Might on crit and for the vitality bost, which with your chosen food and shapeing stone…gives a good bonus to power and the healing you do when you dodge . Personaly I feel this build is subpar, and aims to serve as a place holder for a Herald and a Druid, but it’s what you want in the sense that it respects you’re 3 rules by sacrifing your ability to reliably aoe burn your foes with staff AA.

If I understood your team comp better (I mean if knew what builds your friends were using)…prehaps I could have chosen better utility traits for you.

Greatsword as a ranged weapon for Revenant

in Revenant

Posted by: Jack Skywalker.5674

Jack Skywalker.5674

Whatever ranged weapon the Revenant gets, it’ll be a 900 range weapon. In that case, you won’t see a Shortbow, especially a condi one.

As much as I love a GS in general and especially as a melee weapon, I doubt we’ll see one since it’s so common already. At best hope, the GS will be a 900 range weapon.

I also doubt they’ll ever put in a dagger main hand when the toon has a sword off hand.

I had no ideea there was a 1200 shortbow. As far as chances for new ranged weapons go,I divided my money on the following pattern:

shortbow – 20%chance
dagger as ranged – 25% (because I really liked Rym’s take on it)
gs as ranged – 10%
scepter – 20%
axe main hand ranged – 15%
rifle or pistol – 10%

I swear to God except for the final bit in the chain, thief AA staff looks realy bad compared to Revenants….it’s like they made that chain to work with that 1 daredevil staff skin or something.

Back on topic though….if we wouldn’t kitten about GW2 and spend less time playing this class Anet will never fix this sh@ite. Also can we have an interview with either Ventari or Malyx next?
