Why are Revenant's traits SO bad?

From what I’m seeing, this profession is more support and sustain than 1-hit kills.

Yeah, which is exactly why it looks like it could suck in PvE. There’s no need for a class that’s only good for support in this game mode.

What sort of damage output does revenant offer on a full DPS build though, and how does it compare to the other classes?

These traits really do look worse than the necros, and that is saying a lot.. Virtually no damage buffs, and no weapon specific buffs at all. Far too many healing traits as well. Looks like they took the weakest bits of guard, ele and necro when they designed this.

I wonder what’s the ratio of people who want precursors to craft their own legendary to those who’re just looking to make some gold. Ever so often I toss some rares and exotics into the forge, but I’m only interested in getting a pre in order to sell it and buy skins and such (most of the BLTC sets look better than legendary weapons, imo);

For what it’s worth I got the spear precursor by forging three random exotics and a mystic forge stone. Was pretty disappointing.

I still want tattoos for humans. Let the Norn have their tribal designs, and give humans the old school and nautical type tats. It would fit in perfectly with the lore too, with all the pirates and bandits knocking around.

Norn with all-over body paint would not be a terrible idea, for what it’s worth.

What’s funny about that is that people were complaining that it wasn’t as user friendly when when we got the new, destroyed version.

#truth

Fact is, there’s always at least one person complaining about every update and change made. Literally, all of them.

It’s unfortunate, because this makes it hard to distinguish reasonable grievances from trolling and pettiness.

This one I think is reasonable, though, Logistically it is pretty clear that the destroyed LA offered significantly more convenience than it does now.

I thought the dungeon reward tracks in PVP would have killed Arah selling, to be honest. One run through story and it’s unlocked forever. You don’t even need to win. Just be active for ten minutes at a time and you’ll have unlocked just about everything in a couple weeks.

I suppose it is necessary for the achievement, though.

[Poll] About titles.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jahroots.6791

Jahroots.6791

Removing existing titles makes absolutely no sense. If anything, having lame ‘ez mode’ titles makes the challenging ones more prestigious by default.

Personally, titles are entirely cosmetic and add a bit of flavour. It’s not about how they were earned, but how well they suits each character. E.g. my nngi is dressed like a military dictator so I let him rock ‘The Emperor’ because it suits him. My necro gets ‘Reaper’, Thief is ‘Mercenary’ and so on.

How many characters do you have?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Total Characters: 9

- Mesmer 2
- Guardian 1
- Necromancer 1
- Ranger 1 (My first character)
- Elementalist 1
- Warrior 1
- Thief 1
- Engineer 1

They’re all level 80. Only levelled my ranger the ‘natural’ way through exploration and so on, all of the others I used crafting and tomes for exp.

The next three characters I make will go straight to 80 as well, since I have over 200 tomes of knowledge sitting in the bank.

Why are there so many tryhards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jahroots.6791

Jahroots.6791

I don’t disagree that it’s unreasonable, since I run on Necro pretty often as well. The point I really wanted to bring across is that we’re all entitled to choose who we let into our parties, for any reason at all.

How are necros in dungeons after the changes though?

Necro’s in a pretty good place for ordinary dungeon farming. Vampiric Aura offers decent healing for you and your party, wells are good AOE for trash mobs. Main hand Axe and Dagger/ Offhand Dagger/Warhorn does decent DPS. In full berserker/assassin gear with fully stacked might and vulnerability I hit Subject Alpha for around 15k with Ghastly Claws. Still low tier but completely serviceable, lots of bosses go down before you’ve finished your full rotation.

I also don’t see why the OP cares about this.

Why are there so many tryhards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jahroots.6791

Jahroots.6791

Tryhard? Nah, quite the opposite really. In a half decent, experienced zerk party you pretty much switch onto autopilot and breeze through. By the time the chest at the end pops it’s like ‘Wait, we’re finished?’ Lol. ‘Trying’ is the exact opposite of what those groups set out to do.

The golden rule with PUGs is that the majority rules. Casuals shouldn’t reasonable expect a speedrun to change to accommodate them, nor should a Zerker expect newbies or chill players to rush through the path. Of course, only one of these types of player tries to barge into the other’s groups and then kicks up a big fuss about it on the forums…

Why are there so many tryhards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jahroots.6791

Jahroots.6791

I’ve never had a problem joining zerker parties as necro. From time to time even had to carry bad PUGs. The problem is that while necro has decent DPS there’s virtually no meaningful support skills so we’re tolerated at best. We did get Vampiric Aura in the patch which is neat, but still totally unnecessary.

Lots of things will get you booted out of even semi casual speed runs. If any of the following apply to you, consider making some adjustments if you want to PUG on this class.

- Sub optimal weapon choices
- Bad build, for e.g. full signet
- A preferred class is missing from the party comp
- ‘Going rogue’. Not stacking, aggroing mobs too early, etc.
- Low AP

Necros and rangers also get a lot of prejudice by default because in the hands of unskilled players they tend to mess up more often than other classes.

It’s too bad, would have liked to add one or two of those paths to my daily dungeon PUG tour.

Inspired Character Names!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Jahroots.6791

Jahroots.6791

I’m terrible with creative character naming. I search seventh sanctum and a bunch of other name generator type apps and eventually just settle on obscure music references and mythology.

Made a dreadlocked guard called ‘Jah Fire’ because that class has a focus on burning and fire skills, and that’s a common theme throughout Reggae music and Rastafari.

My Sylvari have Celtic names because it just seems fitting for the default ‘elf’ race.

Got my engy’s name, Roger Bucklesby, from an image I found on tumblr or buzzfeed. There’s a pretty interesting story behind that as well.

First mesmer is called ‘Handsome Johnny’ kind of ironically since I made him with the black eye face. Name was inspired by an old folk song.

In retrospect I should have gone with a theme like Azure did. Makes it much easier for friends and guildies to recognize who you are.

Teq, Triple Trouble, and Dungeons

Jahroots.6791

Essentially OP believes since he paid for the game, that he should not only be able to play 100% of the content (which he can), but that he should be able to easily succeed at it.

I’m sorry, no, sometimes there needs to be something a little bit harder for those of us with above average skill.

Teq specifically became a big AFK fest. You had 75% of the people doing the work, and 25% of the people standing around or running around auto attacking. Now there needs to be a bit more participation and suddenly its the end of the world.

You have access to all of the content. If it’s too hard for you, it’s too hard for you. Move along.

It’s a matter of consistency. Notice how there’s little complaining about dungeons, fractals or TT. Most of us got better at dungeons and failed at TT often enough to walk away with no regrets. The content stayed the same, and we adjusted accordingly. With Teq now, they scaled his difficulty up, down a bit, then up again. People develop expectations after a while, and drastic changes like this are upsetting.

Aside from that, I see nothing wrong with the OP’s expectation for manageable PvE content. I figure most people play that side of MMO for the depth and variety of interesting content, not so much difficulty and bragging rights. That’s more of a twitch gamer and PvP thing, isn’kitten

Order Uniforms

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

There is a uniform, but for some reason the NPCs that represent each order tend to have their own unique little touches, or just straight up wear what they feel like.

That doesn’t make the full set less uniform. If you want to nothing’s stopping you from transmuting full sets, including appropriate weapons and dyes.

Then having fewer spirit shards generated should be a good thing. Casual players would have less access to them and perhaps drive prices of some MF recipe items up. In theory anyway, I’m terrible at working out this sort of thing.

Assuming a player did ten dungeon paths per day it’s only a loss of about 5 shards. I don’t see this having a major impact. Most players probably have at least 1K of these sitting in our wallets and no real use for ’em.

I’m going to repeat that the new dungeon token merchant is just ridiculous.
You removed 8 named NPC’s and replaced them with a generically named minimum size Asura that is not marked on the map, hidden somewhere in a corner way off the beaten path, and even dyed his armour to match the background. It’s like you don’t WANT players to find him.

+1

It’s a terrible change. LA is nothing if not spacious. Dungeon merchants ought to have a similar set-up as the BLTC vendors, with a ‘sample’ of their wares on the table in front of them. The single merchant menu is counter intuitive as well, it’s noticeably harder to navigate.

Apart from this my general thoughts on LA are as follows:-

Good
It’s clean and pretty. I don’t really have much of an opinion on the aesthetic of the place, but as I wandered around it most things just looked nice. It was a pleasant place to visit. Lots of little features that I’m sure the RP crowd would have a blast with as well.

Bad
More space, fewer services. If there’s a point to this, clearly I missed it. The smaller city hubs after Scarlet wrecked the place were FANTASTIC. You had all the basic necessities (Laurels, TP, Crafting/Banks) located in the general vicinity of the unique services (Guild management, Mystic Forge, Dungeon vendors). Now….I don’t know what to make of this. It’s a huge step backward, imo.

Ugly
Giant molluscs. Not a fan of these at all. Was expecting a more prominent ‘lion’ theme.

Jahroots.6791

What are you talking about? Engineer has been quite possibly the best class for years. As of this moment this patch made it the strongest class

Exegeration is an art. And you are an artist.

Just last year Engineer was the second least played profession in higher levels of pvp, barely more popular than Mesmer. In pve and wvw it has always been one of the least played professions.

Engineer has most definatly been one of the worst professions for the longest time. Untill in pvp the meta changed enough that annoying bunker builds, who cannot kill but just stand on a point, were good. Outside of Player versus Gimmick engineers remained unpopular.

Not like Guardians, or Thieves, or Warriors. About all of which you can say, without a hint of irony, that they are quite possible the best professions for years now. And i’d honestly drop the “possibly”.

That’s my thinking as well. It’s often hard to tell trolls from the uninformed on these forums.

It’s still a fairly viable PvP class, but Engineer is horrible in PvE. Mediocre DPS at best with complex, cumbersome skill and weapon sets. Even Necro seems to outperform ’em since the update.

I truly am surprised that seemingly overnight veteran players have totally forgotten the sheer amount of love and passion that ANet employees have pumped in to the game and are pumping in to HoT.

Never before, in over a decade of MMO gaming, have a come across an MMORPG with such attention to detail, quality and charm as GW2. It’s clear the game has been crafted as a child of passion and love, not as a money making tool. I’ve fallen in love with GW2 and the people that makle GW2 happen, and will gladly support them for years to come if it means the game I love keeps getting bigger and better.

People shouldn’t be directing any rage towards the devs at all. Harrassing someone for just doing their job is deplorable. They’ve made an amazing game, that works far more often than it doesn’t. It’s management that makes the decisions that really stick it to us.

To be fair though, the community has been kind of unsettled for a while. There are a lot of issues (with varying degrees of reasonableness) that were raised in the forum repeatedly, and a good chance that they wont be resolved any time soon. When the community realised the one thing we were all expecting wouldn’t be included, a couple people just lost it.
