Chest of Loyalty - Laurels obvious choice?

Laurels are the best choice, in theory. Ascended crafting materials are better if you need gold, imo (you’ve mixed up the Legendary and Ascended chest contents, btw.)

The other stuff is basically worthless.

It’s the ERA of money, adding convenient features only cost them money and don’t directly earn them money. (Because they don’t realise a happy customer is a spending customer)

You can tell a huge difference between GW1 polishing and GW2 polishing.

Money money money.

They could easily monetize this feature. Let’s say… 800 gems for one extra trait and gear page (per character or account).

Tangled Depths has the kind of complexity that would be amazing in a single player game, one where you’re happy to have lots of little nooks and crannies to discover and explore once then move on. It’s not the kind of place I want to run through multiple times on different characters, over and over. There’s already enough time consuming activities in the game, imo.

Actually, this applies to most of the HoT maps for me.

This comes up pretty often. Don’t hesitate to make your own listings though. I always do and the party is usually full in 5 – 10 minutes. Sometimes we just 3 or 4 man the paths where that is possible if necessary.

A quote from another player on HOT Economy forum: “Players who enjoy playing dungeons will have either lower income or will have to play content they do not enjoy as much in order to maintain their existing level of income.”

Sink or swim, man. Gathering is mind numbingly dull, but extremely lucrative. Every day I run two or three toons to rich ore nodes and chop wood along the way. It’s not much fun, but worth a solid 100g a week at least.

Man, what’s with all these snivelly snitchin’ posts recently? There’s always a bunch of people AFK on any given map. In SW there’s usually enough active people to get the events done, if not it is easy enough to taxi more in or change maps. People are always up for some SW action.

Ehh, you’re projecting your own beliefs too much.

Berserker is optimal for a certain play style, and most instanced content but we can’t really say it’s all a player needs. Lots of people run other stats and combinations, for various reasons, and enjoy using them.

That seemed pretty poorly handled, imo. Hell, in real life if I walk into a store and an item is wrongly priced they have to sell it to me at the displayed cost (at least in my country).

Either way, everything I’ve seen in the game over the last couple years suggests that action against players is fairly unlikely unless the ‘exploit’ has a significant economic impact. I can live with that.

Sorry, but nah.

Outfits already put an end to that. I’m always for more options and variety. Ain’t never gonna be any mixing of weights though. There’s already bunch of clipping issues among some items of the same class. Maybe an option to choose to transmute as light, medium or heavy could work…

We’re free to differ in opinion, but the bottom line is that the devs do view this as an exploit. They communicated this directly to Rising Dusk, our resident Dungeon and Fractal specialist.

I get the impression that they don’t really care that much about these things – the BLTC and gem store take precedence over everything else, and this has very little to no real economic impact. However, a few people are very vocal about it on the forums and as it is technically against the ToS they’ve got to at least try.

i want new armor skins!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Jahroots.6791

3 months to work on a single set of armor skins for an armor weight sounds very doable to me. A total of 4 light, 4 medium and 4 heavy sets in a year for me to purchase and they’d be sure to have me logging in and going out into the game world pretty much every single day again.

That’s exactly the way it used to work, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately they’ve decided against this model. A lot of people rejoiced when they found out that armour skins would be obtained through game play, but I took it to mean ‘Yeah, we’re not really going to be making many of those any more.’ So far it looks like I was right. We can only hope for at least one full set per armour class in the upcoming LS.

As others have said, the Mossman is actually much faster and easier if he’s just attacked directly without using exploits. Good luck explaining that to most people, though. The usual response is an instant kick.

Nah, it really isn’t that simple. Since the pole was patched about half the groups I joined that tried to fight him legit wiped. Still loads of inexperienced and/or uninterested people around – likely the sort of kittens who ignored your posting and then jacked it.

There’s really a marginal difference between using the tree and fighting him in the open. What really matters is breaking his bar. A lot of the tree groups don’t bother to or can’t.

Jahroots.6791

Actually, I’ve been playing this game almost exclusively for the last two years.

The thing is, I love GW2’s aesthetics. It’s just some of the open world, vanilla maps I find comparatively dull. This is probably because after levelling to 80 back in 2013 I spent virtually all of my time in dungeons and fractals, and most of those do an amazing job at creating atmosphere. I also can’t help but notice a stark contrast between the Maguuman maps (Silverwastes, Dry Top and the HoT content) and the rest of the world.

It’s not a major issue really, I just was wondering if other people felt like the open world could use a little ‘dressing up’.

Central Tyria - Visual Update

Jahroots.6791

So I’ve been checking out a couple other f2p MMOs for the hell of it, and one ot the things that struck me the most about them, even the cheapest, most poorly designed of the lot were at least visually interesting. The landscape is littered with decorative pieces and interesting architecture and even the lowliest mobs are if nothing else, cool looking.

Tyria on the other hand is completely bland. The landscapes are beautiful and very well designed, but mostly barren. Rocks and trees, the odd fort or two, but very little else. The humanoid mobs, apart from the Nightmare Court are all so shabbily dressed. The bandits and pirates have next to nothing at all in their forts. No treasure or art or anything laying around. What have they been stealing for the past three years? Are they all really that poor?

We’ve had one bit of LS1 that made some lasting changes to a map but I’m definitely hoping to see a bit more of this in the future, it’d really breathe a bit of life into the world. Very much interested in seeing what others think about this, if anything at all.

Jahroots.6791

Any type of change will not work. Why? Because there is only so many times you can run any type of content until you get tired of it.

FTFY.

There aren’t enough fractal islands for randomization to break up the monotony. We’d need at least twice the current number for your suggestion to work.

I also don’t get the impression that most players are particularly excited by varied game play and complex mechanics in instances. Everything eventually becomes second nature ‘facerolls’, or too much of a hassle for the average player to enjoy.

I think it’s not so much gameplay that’s lacking so much as a form of progression tied to each fractal. A title and back item skin for each would be a good place to start. Even re-skins would suffice, imo. These could be awarded in the form of collections, simple ‘beat x fractal x times at x level’ type or other achievements.

Why can’t people just play the kittening game. How lazy do you have to be to go out of your way to do as little as possible in a game you supposedly play for relaxation and fun.

People don’t really want to exploit these fights, it’s just preferable to the alternative.

Never mind all of the ‘Oh, but this fight is SO fast and easy to do legit’ talk. It’s rubbish, all of it. I’ve been in quite a few level 21 Swamp fracs where people got downed. Some even died. At the higher levels I’ve seen half the party go down in a few seconds attempting to fight him off the pole.

The problem with the fight is that you can hardly see what Mossy’s doing half the time through the spell effects and other players with their great big floppy wings and what not.

Oh i completely understand why people do it. I just dont see why people try and justify it on a public forum. Its beyond absurd. And rather pathetic. Id be ashamed to admit i do or even support something this cheesy. And even if i wasnt i certainly wouldnt try to justify my actions.

It’s because they (well…we) were pretty content to cheese our way through tedious or difficult encounters and don’t have a strong need to prove our skill. Some people think the sole purpose of fractals and dungeons is to provide challenging content, but a lot of us enjoy them for completely different reasons. And differing opinions make for more interesting discussion.

Jahroots.6791

Let’s be realistic, this highlights the need for new fractals more than anything else.

Besides, Anet have actually been really generous to us in this update. They’re times faster, the loot is pretty good and you get to choose exactly which islands you want to play in order to get the rewards. No more rolling for swamp – you can just straight up go right there! In spite of the overwhelming positives a lot of people are just complaining. Which is understandable, but still. And even if the devs did implement any of the ideas suggested here another, louder batch of complaints would pop up (maybe from some of you lot as well).

Remember all of the anti-berserker meta complainers? Look what that got us. High level fractals with instabilities tailored to make that very play style bothersome and tedious, but still the most viable way to beat the encounters. Do you really trust these people to make further changes that would actually benefit us? Best to leave well enough alone I think.

Try using a special character for the e or a (e.g. Seána) . Maybe swap the S to a C instead as well. Should still be mostly true to the Gaelic origin of the name and compatible with the naming rules.

We only just got an increase up to 100, no reason to add tiers beyond that just yet. This would require a drastic change to the way agony works, and after a certain level it’s just another gold sink.

New fractals will probably just be in addition to the current ones, and operate under the same rules.

As a side note, I really don’t get why people think fun and farming have to be mutually exclusive. Current trends clearly suggest otherwise.

Off the top of my head, on my DH without a full dps build (Berserker gear, but tanky traits and Traveller runes) I did about 13k damage tops with greatsword #2. Using the metabattle.com dungeon and fractal build I can hit for 20k under similar conditions.

As it stands now you’re just going to alienate players. You may argue that is fine for you, but long term it is a terrible strategy as you want the medium’s playerbase to grow and not shrink.

Worst case scenario, this ends up the the AC spider queen where roughly one in four PUG groups will wipe and fall apart. But as there’s a few other easy fractals that can be run for the 51+ chest, the high level daily routies would probably change to something like ’ ?-56-60’

My only issue is with the instabilities and toughness at higher levels. They’re just not fun. Most of the community avoids the longer fractals because of this. One or the other would be fine.
