Ive been making sure I wait if there are a few people following me into a projector, they have enough HP to get a tag in. Though the only one I felt bad for was the Ranger cos I didn’t realise they don’t have a very easy AOE skill like my warrior, took a few runs before I realised I had to give him a few seconds to set up before I dived in with my spin to win.
I think people were starting to do the same and give people those few seconds to get the rewards.
At 134/300 for the achievement.
I feel the same about the wings, I previewed them and couldn’t watch them for any length of time without my head spinning, I think they are just a bit too fast. I watched a video of the wings and the shattered ones seem to flap slower which is much nicer.
Why do people just stand around them, its the worst way to do it. Also you know they don’t always respawn, there’s only a selection of them active on each map.
Just look on your map, it shows all the active ones currently, then just WP around grabbing them as they spawn.
I would pay to have either one of my two favourite armour sets in this game:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Warrior_Ancient_armor_m.jpg
That armour combined with the lion embossed shield and the fiery gladius looked awesome, plus the hood from one of the store armour sets was awesome.

Loved running around with my warpaint on in the spiky norn armour.
If you read up on the GW2Hub interviews there is a quote from one of the ANet guys that the chances of reverencing skins are higher this time round.
‘We like the RNG style, but we also like to offer players several different ways to get rewards. We’ve given RNG and a way of working at it as well. The odds are much better than before. We’ve also modified multiples of rewards so you get them much more (as opposed to once). We feel that’ll give players the more ability to get what they want. Lastly, the weapon sets available is also a full set and we’re adding a Black Lion Specialist where players can use any previously unused tickets to obtain items from Wintersday or a choice of the molten weapons.’
From what i understand you are correct OP, its only the helmet reward that is restricted to the fireworks over the weekend of 14-17 June, the rest should be available throughout.
From the last few it seems to go down around 6 then able to download around 7.
Err just a point, you assume that the odds of one cool item are not less than .1% (per crate presumably) yet you only bought 10? Chances are still heavily in favour of gaining nothing.
The whole fool and his money thing applies aptly here if you can make an assumption about odds, then get annoyed that you didn’t get anything with distinctly unfavourable odds.
Other than that I agree, no more RNG please.
I agree fully, we shouldn’t have to leave the game to have any idea what has been happening. Would be great seeing it written into a book of GW2 as we play.
you know what I love about this game?
not a god kitten thing.
Then why on earth are you on the forums commenting on it?
If you hate it this much your life must be pretty miserable if this is all you can think to do.
Fair improvement, if this is how it’s going to work, which I doubt. But I’m still not spending a dime until I see an OFFICIAL declaration that crap like the MA weapons will never happen again. And some kind of compensation for the (millions of, at this point) players who have financially supported ANet and received nothing for it. One single event where they do what’s right by the players is not a sign that they’re turning a new leaf.
ANet lost my respect and my trust, one event isn’t going to make it come back. I’m not giving them an inch of leeway until I see something in writing and I don’t encourage anyone else to either.
Compensation for the people who support the game and received nothing for it? How about the game? That’s a bit more than nothing, and to be honest, the skins are a very small part of the updates so far. To state we have received nothing in return is a bit melodramatic to say the least.
I’m going to get my hopes up this time. Joining the wailing and crying is too much effort.
Maybe I’m just getting my hopes up that there will be a guarantee’d way of getting the skin, especially after seeing the pics on Guru, they look just slightly awesome….
‘-Dragon’s Jade Weapon Skins
You can find weapon tickets inside Rich Dragon Coffers and (rarely) in Dragon Coffers’
So there appears to be a chest that definitely has a skin token inside, as well as the RNG type. A more expensive version only from Gem store which guarantees the skin and a cheap version that also drops in game, but which has a small chance at the skin?
I’m hoping so anyway, its a step in the right direction.
I love how people keep whining about this.
I have NEVER farmed nor bought any T6 material, and yet I have almost full stacks of all of them sitting in my bank. So clearly it is fully possible to get the T6 materials without farming the same mobs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Ok Fair enough, but how did you actually get the T6 Mats? Random drops?
Because for most of us who don’t have a huge amount of time to play, if we want something that requires T6 Mats, targeted farming is really the only way go advance in a reasonable time-scale.
I just love wearing them then slowly backing into other playing standing around in lions arch : P. I could waste all day watching people run away.
All wrong, Reef Riders have beaten the Asura to personal anti-gravity devices obviously.
I found that sometimes I would use the correct skill on the correct mine then lure Canach onto it and when he runs over it, the mines would explode damaging me instead of him. I didn’t have any problems completing it apart from this, am I doing something wrong?
Lol I hope so, or maybe some scerlite armour to match the weapons. Think I may be straying into fantasy land though.
May be a bug, but I got the solo instances reward twice: yesterday, and a day before yesterday.
Same here, I’ve definitely received it twice so was quite surprised when I tried it today and got no reward, Ill have to give the 5-man dungeon a go.
too many of them resemble croquet mallets rather than actual 2h hammers. precursor/magmaton, hotw and corrupted hammer are the only decently sized ones. so many of them have the “head” peice way too small or are just ridiculous skins ie; the kitten anchor ones.
jam look at ebonblade or aureate highlander those are about as normal as a 2h sword can get and look decent.
Cheers, going for the aureate highlander now, great looking sword.
Thouhg as the poster above points out, real life war hammers were small, there is no way anyone could use a hammer the size of magmaton effectively for any length of time. Though i’m not going to say anything else cos I have magmaton….
I second this, I had mentioned something in the suggestions forum, a historical instance access system which would allow you to replay any instanced section like personal stories or living story dungeon.
I agree with you, I loved some of the earlier personal story sections, combined with areas like the F&F dungeon means there are plenty of instances I would love to be able to repeat.
I think the hammers are the ones that are the right size, stupidly massive weapons really bug me, which is the main reason I refuse to GS on my warrior. I’m looking for a sword .that looks normal
Above, I agree when you come back to the game after a story arc is finished I reckon they should move old arcs to a tooltip like our own personal story with a little write up and short story to cover the previous history, as well as removing the achievement sections, then when you come back you can see what has happened, then slot into the new story line knowing the background, and not seeing random achievements that you won’t ever be able to complete.
That’s what a.net is denying people. They are denying it most to the people who contribute hardcore to society…[the ones who spend months away from the game]. Would you agree that these people also deserve a way to access the best content in the game?
Sure but the best content hasn’t come out yet (given that the content will be continously changing and is really depended on taste) so I don’t see what the problem is. If your question was should those people who could not play the game be able to experience the stuff they missed out on?
We’re not talking holiday content, that actually makes sense to go away and is permanent in a sense too, next year it’ll just come back. We’re talking about entire storylines being available only for three months … That really makes no sense.
I liked the F&F storyline, and in it’s entirety was worth something. How can I convince someone to return after a few months of inactivity? By telling them they missed out on a cool dungeon? Good luck …
The whole point of the living story is that theres always something going on, how are people who don’t have time for those couple of hours to complete the basic stuff going on at the moment magically finding the time to go back and complete all these previous arcs?
If you could access them from somewhere easy like that, maybe a new living story menu in your hero panel, plus it would need a short story to describe the events leading up to the dungeon.
To be honest its what i think the Fractals should be but I dislike the ranked, almost competitive and random nature of it, but some form of portal would be appropriate with a historical theme, maybe something in old Ascalon you have to find to emphasise the historical theme?
Doesn’t have to be an object per story, I was thinking more of a menu option, pick which ‘memory’ of Guild Wars you would like to visit.
I still think Molten Facility should be part of the fractal of the mists.
I don’t like the random aspect, the point here being that you can pick the bit you like, not gamble to maybe play a warped version of it.
This is an idea stolen from LOTRO but I loved it.
Add an ability or area/object (in LOTRO it was mirror objects) that allows you to access historical instances or dungeons, both from your personal story and living story, that way if people miss stuff or particularly enjoy things they can ‘go back in time’ and re-live them.
It was often used in Lotro to help people further down the story, which isn’t applicable here, but if you really enjoy a particular story instance (unlikely I know), you could re-run it.
For instance the Flame and Frost dungeon was great fun, it would be a shame to lose it. We could re-run it with this system and show new players some of the history behind the old updates they see on the site.
I would prefer it if the unique rewards were only available during the event as something special but as long as you got some silver back it would be fine.
Either way this would be a great way to fill some time if you have done your stuff for the day and want to pop back with a new friend and experience something you enjoyed.
Kinda sucks when playing my melee warrior, but I can survive them with care, my main issue is when there’s more than one and I have been stun locked before, then finally get out with 6 stacks of confusion. Its painful.
I quite like the outpost to the north that has the 2 defender events, and an instigator event, plus the defender event at the WP to the north of that then fill the time farming young Karka.
Im sure there was mention of them for this story arc, maybe next patch?
That’s besides the point though.
Levels are more important as far as upscaling is concerned because without it, all the armor and traits in the world wont make a lvl 26 put up a useful fight in Sparkfly Fen. If they didnt re-use the upscaling on Southsun that was already implemented you wouldnt have characters in their teens fighting Karka there.
Just look at the Flame and Frost story arc, nobody was scaled up apart from in the instances.
People doing the omelette event:
There are 7-8 nests if you actually look. Doesn’t take long to find them.
Are they at the base of that pillar/island thingie? Because on top I found only three.
Yeh, best way to do it is run to the bit on top beside the camp, there are 3 there, then drop off the side there and do a loop of the base, you should find at least 4 more down there, then run back up via the pirate ship crashed into the base, by which time you should only have a very short wait until they respawn, I did it pretty much alone yesterday fairly quickly.
Thank you so much. That was very helpful =)
No Prob, its an annoying but easy way of getting to the 25 : ).

Wow, and you were that unlucky? thats gotta sting. In the flame and frost event, 1 black lion key dropped for a daily and I got a weapon skin ticket…
352? Did you pay for all that or farm them?
I’ve not personally come across any graphical bugs, it’s all looked fairly polished to me, although the settlement could use a WP.
They stated in their notes that the tentacle one would be upgradeable, and didn’t mention the Censor, so I would have to guess that it isn’t unless its hidden.
Its an RNG item, it states that in the description, yet people are always surprised when they don’t get lucky? Its like walking into a casino and being surprised you don’t win.
No, it’s wanting a shop in the shop, instead of a kitten casino.
To be fair I agree, I don’t mind the RNG items but I was expecting some skins like the Rox/Braham skins from the last patch, some easily obtainable ones in the Gem Store, though we do have another patch in less than 2 weeks so it may still happen.
Just remember it makes financial sense to release the option that makes them more money (RNG) before the straight up gem store items.
Thanks for adding to the problem. It’s these reasons why Anet will never get rid of stupid things like RNG chests. Because people keep buying them up.
Go ahead and buy more. Don’t expect anything though. Don’t you love when they lock new content behind RNG (or lottery if you want to call it that)?
Excuse you, but you’re wrong. They add this new content to convince people to purchase it to help pay for the FREE CONTENT. The content that was added to the game in the way of new Dynamic Events, story lines, extended locations, free back-slot items, new mini-games, new WvW items, and more. All these things are free and paid for by the Gem Store items; because without that Gem Store we would not have monthly content updates.
As another to look at it, as an adult, understand that you’re still getting far more for a $1 spent in the Gem store on chests than you are getting in putting that $1 in a slot machine for a single roll with the outcome of 0.
P.S. I know I’m going to get slapped with “but why don’t they just sell the weapons directly on the gem store for a set price? I’d buy them that way.”. So, I’ll explain it as this: Part of being in an MMORPG is becoming a unique individual by way of look, style, and play. If everyone was able to obtain these weapons equally, nobody would look unique and they’d have no rarity to them. (i.e. see how everyone in L.A. is right now either wearing a flower or tentacles on their backs).
It’s an opinion. My opinion. It can’t be wrong. We are all entitled to our own.
And they don’t need to add RNG to the gem store to fund this “new free content” that we are getting. There is many other ways to make money than have someone spin the wheel with their cash and end up wasting it on nothing.
Sorry but I have no sympathy for anyone that believes this is good business practice towards customers. Imagine going into a grocery store to pick up some milk, and after you pay for it, they give you a tomato. And then tell you that whenever you buy something from them, you get a chance that you will get what you want. You wouldn’t go there again. You’d go somewhere else to spend your money. Cause you want what you paid for, not a chance at it. Now that grocery store just lost a customer and future money from that customer cause of those tactics. If they would of just sold them the item without any tricks or shams, that customer would go back to that grocery store and buy stuff again.
And sorry, but I don’t care to be a special snowflake when it comes to buying items I want. I could care less if everyone owns it. I am buying something because I want it and I like it. I’m not going to not buy it cause everyone else has one. It has nothing to do with being a “unique” individual. You buy things cause you like them, not because you want everyone to be jealous of what you have and they don’t have.
Pixels are not a social status symbol. You wear what you want cause you like it. Not because of what everyone else will think.
The problem with your logic is that when somone goes into a store to buy milk, they are expecting to get milk because the product package states that it contains milk. When somone is buying a RNG chest they are paying for the “chance” to get a unique item, expecting anything else just proves that they did not read the description of the item they were buying. If I went to the store to buy milk and the bottle stated “has a chance to contain milk” it would be up to me to make the informed decision to buy it, if it did not contain the milk I hoped for then tough, no ones fault but my own.
And you still support this? Why? They could be making more meaningful items without RNG. They could be selling multiple items to make up for the RNG factor. RNG is just greed, plain and simple. Offering assured content keeps more customers happy. This is why milk products (and other products) guarantee that they you should be getting what you want. It only makes sense.
What other products offer random items with a purchase? Lottery and gambling. Greed.
Greed? Of course it is, its a BUSINESS. They have to make the money somehow, and if RNG boxes make the money better than assured skins then I don’t blame them.
If it all pays for all the work and expansions, which I we haven’t paid anything for since the box, then leave them be and enjoy the content.
Its an RNG item, it states that in the description, yet people are always surprised when they don’t get lucky? Its like walking into a casino and being surprised you don’t win.
If you don’t like RNG, don’t buy the box, its simple, its just a skin, you will survive without it.
Just because you want it doesn’t mean they should just give it to you.
Didnt spot that requirement either, I was splitting the achievements between my Lvl 80 and my Lvl 42, was just lucky I chose to do it on the 80.
Maybe, since you have already acquired the omelette and they are unlikely to remove achievement gates, you can simply wait until you are Lvl80 and then use it? It will probably still work, just have to remember not to sell it.
Dulfy mentioned it as being a bug and I trust that site well enough to be patient and wait for my creepy waving tentacles.
I was sceptical at first but to be honest I like it.
One of the first concepts I’ve come across that has fairly unique mechanics and would fit in well with GW2’s fluid combat style. Also sounds like you could have some awesome graphics for the multiple floating weapons.
One thing I think you could emphasise is the aura-like Utilities you mentioned, they should be strongest closest to the blade dancer, which is where the group skill and coordination would come in, the dancers positioning would be all important to keep the groups buffs etc going.
Keep suggesting it and maybe we will get it next story.
I like the tentacles, its kinda cool and suits some looks, but an angelic ‘opposite’ would be awesome.
The rush is a hold duration button, longer you hold it the further you run.
Though I don’t think its working very well.
The boxes also drop (rarely) from southsun cove creatures so you may be able to do it without buying anything with gems.
