Personally I’m not a fan of the flashy skins at all, I think Bonetti’s rapier fits in best with the aesthetic.
Same here
15 char
Got my ticket for rezzed on Saturday, going solo so hoping to meet some fellow players (gf wouldn’t touch a gaming convention with a barge pole).
If anyone else is alone give me a message.

We need this for GW2, it was awesome to run instanced missions from the history of the world, an updated version for the second game would be cool.
Can I just reiterate the final point of the above poster OP, substantial rewards are only substantial if there is no inflation or any other form of market dynamics, since GW2 has a live market in the auction house the mission rewards will never keep up unless they are tied to the inflation rate somehow, at which point people will have more money, and then more to spend, and then prices will inflate as more disposable income is around and so on. It is almost impossible to make the mission rewards worth anything in an economy like GW2’s.
Anyway 10 gold is plenty, considering how short a time you have actually played when you reach 80 and how much left of the game there is to do. That’s a few exotic pieces to start getting your char equipped properly.
Yeh go on arenanet, start again and redesign you game from the ground up! Its ok though, OP says we have the technology. Should be easy right?
Really enjoyed the fight, played it on my self healing warrior so was pretty easy to complete first time, apart from the bit where I dodge rolled off a cliff : /.
All the aoe attacks were well telegraphed with just enough time to roll out the way or find a spot to hide, and not too stressful.
Will have to see how I get on with my squishier characters.
This is good, far easier than flicking around the wiki.
Ok thanks, theorycrafting while bored at work so couldn’t fire up GW2 and test it (not sure how I would anyway). Useful trait but not as powerful as it could have been I suppose.
At least your characters were wearing something with cloth in it, looked mighty odd with my fully plate armoured warrior standing there making polite conversation. I had to remove my helmet and gloves to help him blend in a bit.
Just messing around with builds, thinking about building a might sharing build using the grandmaster tactics trait, for random groups with guildies where not everyone is zerker (got too many armour sets and trying to think of uniqueish builds for the non-zerker sets to run with), and I can single handedly give the whole party massive might stacks, anyway the empowered trait says:
Increases damage for every boon on you. (1%)
Does anyone know if this is every unique boon? Or, for example, would I gain 1% for every individual might in the stack? This seems unlikely but I would like to ask.
I agree with the above, I like the little interplay between Canach having a joke at Anise expense and starting to see through her exterior, something I’m looking forward to being exposed.
Seriously? I still wonder how some people manage the jade fractal considering jumping is required for that, and that’s about as difficult as anything we have seen in the LS.
I agree, haven;t really used it properly but that kind of thing shouldn’t be possible, I know a lot of people don;t agree with people only wanting specific classes for their dungeon run but you should also be able to set up the group composition you want to play with or think will work well without grief.
OP its a tradition around forums that you then explain your conclusion about making people walk everywhere being amazing so that we can see where you are coming from, random statements will never work, so don’t be surprised when people take the kitten.
Surprise: you can’t play any game in the world “the way you want”. Games exist because there are rules, like oceans exist because there are shores. No rules mean no effort and no motivation. The only difference with my example is in the extent of interpretation of the thesis.
In GW2, you get rewarded for anything you do, which lets you play how you want. But if you want a specific reward, you need to do specific things – that’s what makes it a game. Simple as that.
Chill out, now tell me which reward I can get which is specific to this release? A whole new season with a brand spanking new (and particularly beautiful, in my opinion) area to explore and all the rewards are just vendor trash, nothing unique so far after playing through.
I have nothing against crafting specific weapons at all, otherwise I would shed a tear every time I see a destroyer axe, but to put two whole new sets of skins into the game and one is locked behind account bound crafting, and the other is locked behind either cash or a large amount more gold than I have or am capable of making in the very small amount of play I have is just a bit annoying.
You also don’t think that returning all your investments in crafting to 500 in 2 months and a pure 2g profit a day for 1 minute of work after that is worth it, right?
I repeat, I do not like crafting, simple as that. You are saying I would recover it easily, but you still want me to go and spend a reasonable amount of time standing at the crafting station clicking buttons, the bit I get extremely bored of. And you assume when I say ‘very little play time’ that means playing every day. Also want to explain how you make 2G for 1 minute of dedicated time?
Anyway my point is I like skins which are themed and specific to the storyline, they are very cool, but this release hasn’t added any, that’s what people are a bit peeved at.
I think my only issue with it is the fact that the ambrite weapons are crafted weapons (correct me if I’m wrong) and it would be nice to be able to gain one as a reward for playing the update content instead of having to craft them, which is a bit of a pain for those of us who don’t craft.
Leveling weaponsmithing to 400 is 20g, huntsman is 20g, artificer is 9.4g, and that’s assuming you never played the game and had no materials. You can get it by grinding dungeons in a couple of days, plus, crafting is a part of the game so it’s natural to require it as a part of the reward mechanism, and you usually level up crafting if you play the game the “supposed” way – along with character leveling.
Which defeats the whole basis of GW2’s ‘play the way you want’, and I dislike crafting, Simple as that. I am perfectly aware of how to get to crafting 400, I have weapon smith at 320, but I have very little time to play this game (so ‘grinding’ anything is out of the question) and I would like to be able to spend it actually running around playing while working towards something instead of at a crafting station. I just don’t see it as worth spending time on.
Although cheers for the links they do make things look a lot clearer.
My main problem with these weapons is that I’m not a crafter so getting hold of them is quite difficult, I don’t mind farming for mats but its the whole levelling up a crafting discipline for them, and I really like some of the skins.
To be honest I have nothing against crafted weapons but I was hoping for a reward unique to the area that we gained through playing the story, though that may yet come.

Complains about not knowing what’s going on and about not being able to skip the NPS’s who tell you what’s going on in the same post. Bravo.
The lengths people go to find something to whine about is incredible. The whole point of the incremented living story is that you find out where these guys came from. The discovery part of it is something some people enjoy.
Personally I think it was pretty well done considering.
+1 would definitely help
Truth is, many people don’t care about the “story” part of Living Story. To us Living Story is only the vehicule by which we get new content that we might actually like.
So when a supposedly huge launch comes out (it is the start of season 2 after all) and it ONLY caters to the story-loving crowd, of course we’ll be disappointed.
This is a fair enough complaint, I love the living story so for me the update was excellent but I can see where you are coming from, I wish most of the OP’s were as clear and non-abusive as you are when making these points.
I think you need ton take a realistic look at how much time and effort it takes to make these assets. Especially to the quality level that they managed in dry top. Plus the fact that there is considerably evidence that this is only part of a larger area. AN is a big company but they can only manage so much, and if that’s a problem for you then I’m not sure what will make you happy.
Preferably I would like to see a mix of living story and content updates, possibly alternate updates, one of which adds story content, the next adds new features or systems.
They should be released every 2 weeks throughout the season.
Uh oh, I did this to myself earlier, didn’t actually check if the coin counted towards the track, will have to make sure later.
What’s so hard about it? You hardly need to use the jumping skills and when you do they are stupidly easy to pull off to complete the story. I can only think of one or two places where any semblance of timing is required and even then it doesn’t compare to the actual JP’s.
Someone mentioned that jumping resets the timer so be careful to stay in the whole time.
Seemed to work fine for me as long as he is targeted when you dash.
If they keep up this level of detail and content every 2 weeks I am going to be a very happy person.
To be honest considering the depth of the story so far I would far prefer to see them fall back on something that I know was awesome rather than invent a new one.
Anyway, how can the fall of a god not be epic?
The thauminova reactor sounds like every other Asura/inquest story.
The battle between gods? Or an experiment gone wrong?
I know which one sounds more awesome.
I prefer to see weapons that were actually used in real life,
Like magic rifles and staves, as ranged weapons, that shoot sparkles.
I kid, I kid.
A lance on foot is like an equivalent of an anti-aircraft cannon being carried by a trooper. That’s what “real life” analogy means :P
Yeh fair point about the wands etc. But yeh I don’t mind magic in a magic world but when you have a 5 foot character carrying a 12 foot lance it just annoys me beyond reason. Especially as when they actually used them on horses they needed a support to help hold them straight, no-one had the strength to hold those things alone.
I want a spear and shield combo like 300, just cos it looks cool and I’m styling my warrior as a spartan : ).
As above, Lances are ridiculous weapons to use on foot, and to be honest the only games that have them are Eastern. You wont find them in any western RPG’s. A viable option might be a spear instead?
As for great axes, that might be possible, but again I prefer to see weapons that were actually used in real life, the closest thing to a great axe was a danish version with hafts up to 1.2m long, but they had small heads, not the frankly stupid sized things you see in some games.
So you don’t like the skins personally but now you want more, what about if you don’t like those ones too?
It does look a lot like Cantha from GW2. Trying not to get my hopes up….
Finished it 4 times already. I have the under 15 minutes achievement and FTL. Did it only in random parties.. Its hard but not that hard!)
I need you to show me how to do it…
Theres nothing much to show. I play heal guardian so we hugged the mai trin all the time and stood in the aoe so her shield was insta down to 0. Then we bursted her down. 1/4 HP in 3 minutes. Now we are trying to finish not getting hit by aoe.
Flame and Frost and AR were the best dungeons Ive ever done in game lol.. Ive never had more fun.
We failed at the Golem bit, how do you get through there reliably? We kept dying to the pulls which seem to insta kill you through the laser fields.
At first phase you just stand on crates with ranged weapons, second phase you just run between the laser walls with ranged weapons and in last phase you run between laser walls and jump on crates to avoid the small lasers.. thats all.
I found the actual movement to be fine and could avoid the walls easily, but each time the golems would use their pull on us one at a time and inst kill us, and with no way to res we couldn’t find a way past them.

The only thing that annoys me about this dungeon is the Golem pulls. The ones that drag you through 2 walls of electricity and insta-kill you. And of course you can’t see the animation because they are behind the wall…. Thats not fun, thats just stpoopidly annoying.
They said it will appear in a few days so be patient.
I saw kindle had it, but I guess I’m a bit old fashioned I like a book not a screen.
I’m the same normally, just impatient in this case, to be honest I may reorder the book aswell because I like having the hard copies as well.
I wiped lots on the Golems but then again it was fun and I like the mechanics, I like how you need to actually think about the dungeon to complete it.
I will definitely be back for it.
Does anyone have any tips on predicting/avoiding the pulls on those Golems that pretty much 1 hit kill into the lasers fields?
I did the same then saw the delivery date so just cancelled it and ordered it to my kindle instead which was instant. I’m in the UK.
Just hop in and play, I very rarely meet unfriendly people in this game, most people will be willing to give you a hand if you need. Its a great game, I hope you enjoy it.
I usually see it around 7pm GMT for the European servers but no idea if they do the NA ones at a different time.
Anyone else remember the group AI in GW1 EOTN where the melee NPC’s would actively body block their healers and ranged fighters so you could never just charge straight to their important classes?
The dungeons and sections of the story are going to end up in fractals I think if that helps at all?
Unless, like me, you don’t play fractals.
Are people seriously complaining that a single cutscene in a game thats meant to be friendly to people of all walks of life and ages isn’t a ‘True’ hardboiled grim and gritty Noir Scene?
Of course its not.
