Why would it fall from High tier PVP?
Just because something is in a good place now and will be getting buffs for the future, doesn’t mean it will automatically perform well.
Example:
Elementalist Now: 3. Elementalist After Patch: 5.
Every Other Class Now 2. Every Other Class After Patch: 8.
Before the patch Ele was stronger than every other class, AND THEY ARE GETTING BUFFED… OMG.
Yes but every other class got buffed way more which will ultimately put Elementalist at a huge disadvantage.

Think of it as the expansion costing $50 and newer players are getting the core game for free. WoW’s latest expansion is $49.99.
I do wish it was cheaper though.
I think this needs some serious refinement, but it’s probably where I’d start. I guarantee you this is not the best option.

This is likely not seen as either a source of revenue if developed or of a loss of revenue if not developed.

I don’t play an Ele.
One of the reasons why I don’t play an Ele is the same reason why I don’t play a Thief.
I find it overwhelming.
Too many buttons, too many things to remember. All the combo’s and blast finishers… too much.
I multi-class though. I play everything else.
That being said, I’ve seen a lot of people complain that the upcoming changes will be simplifying Elementalists…
How so? I’d really like some detail on that.
If they are really making them easier, that is good news for me…
I’ve actually always liked the idea of playing an Ele… but the attunement switching and the need to do blast finishers and combo’s… I didn’t like having to cycle through all that. I tried Diva’s Condi Signet Build which was really fun, but it wasn’t very effective during higher tiers of gameplay.
Will these changes make it simple enough that I may actually enjoy playing an Elementalist more extensively?
If that’s the case, how so?

Hey though, it would be nice to save names. But I just don’t think it’s a big deal.
I think it’s a pretty big deal.
I’d be happy for a /petname command to rename my current pet. That would at least make it a lot easier to change, and far less mouse clicky.
I’d be happy for this too… but I’d much prefer for it to save all the names like in WoW.
I’m hard pressed to believe that it’s really that hard to accomplish.

Rangers have been asking to save the names for all their pets since August 2012.

In a pvp environment, it’s very rare to even hit the 25 bleed stack cap, so I don’t see the change affecting pvp that much, maybe burning and poison stacking intensity with poison fields from thief shortbow and engi grenades.
I can easily stack 25 bleeds on condi warr,i dont even wanna see what 3 – 4 people are able to do when they all run condi spec,and they will..all run condi spec when this patch hits.
And the Shoutbow Warrior shrugs it all off together.

Realistically the increase will not affect PvP at all. Trust me.
real reason why the decicion is unfair:
team salt went to an admin telling him that the team MC is possibly cheating (i think even before the match started), the admin responded that he will tell arenanet about it .
so before the whole oRNG thing happened, SALT already told the admins about the fraud.

It wouldn’t be a continuation of the first match that was postponed, the match would have to be restarted. In other words that match was made void and the real match was still tentative.
oRNG would’ve beat MC or SALT regardless, glad they get to go so we can see the best teams from EU.
Nobody thought Hasim Rahman would beat Lennox Lewis or that Buster Douglas would beat Mike Tyson. An upset is always a possibility if you allow the opportunity.

When a boxer is DQ’ed from a fight, because the boxer was fouling or breaking the rules, the opponent is automatically given the W and moves on if its a tournament/series.

No. If Boxer C got dqed after beating Boxer D, that result still stands. He just gets disqualified from his match versus Boxer B, which progresses Boxer B to the finals.
Wrong. You can’t get a title shot if you were scheduled to have a qualifying fight. Just like how Braddock got a title shot against Max Baer after beating Corn Griffin when Griffin’s opponent cancelled.
Griffin didn’t get an auto qualify to fight Baer even though he was the number-two contender.
Braddock went on to beat Baer and win the title.
Generally speaking, the disqualification of a participant in a tournament after the tournament has concluded does not result in rematches for all games that they played. The matches occurred within tournament rules, and so the results of those matches are valid. The only change is the removal of the said participant from the final results, and all other participants in the tournament are moved up to account for that.

Actually no, not really. The difference here is that the qualifying match hasn’t been played as yet. oRNG were supposed to beat another team in order to qualify.
Now, the team they were supposed to beat got disqualified… that should not give them an automatic qualification.
Let’s put this into perspective…
Boxer B and Boxer C are fighting at a chance at a title shot against the champion, Boxer A.
Boxer C gets busted for doping. Boxer B doesn’t automatically get a shot at Boxer A.
Boxer D now gets a title shot and boxer B has to fight him in order for one of them to get a title shot.

Since ESL go4gw2 cup is sponsored by arena net, why not just take ratings from there and determine who goes forward. I really doubt they will re-do the tournament.

He’s not asking to redo the tournament, he’s asking that the match that was supposed to be between oRNG and MC be done between oRNG and the next best team instead which would be SALT.

To be honest. When people try to troll me, I like it… I find it funny. Yes, even when I am on the receiving end (I suck at Elementalist and Thief). And I am very VERY competitive.
It’s beyond me why people allow others to get to them. No one can make you feel inferior or upset in a video game without your consent. When people act like idiots it shouldn’t grind your gears the way it currently does. Laugh at them like I do. Or if you don’t find it funny, just keep playing and disregard their behavior.
People who get upset at people who are acting silly crack me up. As a matter of fact, I don’t think I would enjoy PvP if it were completely void of trolls. Real talk.

What about renaming this specialization to Nai-Draug? Draug is obviously a word for Dragon, and Nai sounds similar to ‘nigh,’ meaning near, or Close to. Judging from the skill Dragon’s Maw, this specialization must have absorbed some power from the dragons, making it Close to Dragons.
Well, there’s the above, and it’s completely backwards from how most of us envisioned how Guardians act.

Not when they had 7 years to matture and see their past mistakes ….In the previous expansion in WoW there where 2 teams in 2v2 and 3v3 , where they had 31 games played and they where 4th in their Leaderspot .
If you search my history , you wil see that , when i get argue with an other player from WoW , where he claimed in that game ‘’newers player would never play minimul amount of games and be in the top spot’’ …..
HE WAS WRONG !So in the revious leaderboards we had the same system and some players playing some games , then go afk (do you rememeber any whining back then , and we forced them to change the system ?)

Play more games like WoW = more points = we dont have to deal with afkers

I can’t respond to this because I genuinely do not understand anything you are saying.
I still don’t think using MMR directly is a good idea for a leaderboard, but I fully understand why people would want it: It is perceived as a better indicator of skill most of the time.
Here is why it doesn’t work well:
Random jumps: Glicko is used to make the best match possible. It does this by adjusting quickly which can result in very large jumps up and down before settling.
No Decay: We can’t decay MMR directly, which causes the problem of people sitting inactive at the top of the leaderboard.Our best bet is to create a system that lives side-by-side with the Glicko MMR. The original system does its thing and makes good matches while the new one can be a new algorithm, or a filtered glicko algorithm to give us more friendly numbers without negatively affecting matchmaking.
Thoughts?
This can be solved by having short seasons (1 month seasons) and setting a minimum number of games to play per season to appear in the leaderboards for that season, like 50 games.
So you reset the leaderboards every month but keep the mmr of players. The minimun number of games would prevent people from not playing and getting in the leaderboards and also to adjust their position accordingly.
And also reduce the volatility for not playing to avoid people from playing only the last week and boosting their mmr. If their skill level really decreased the mmr should adjust fast even without volatility, and it s very unlikely that someone improves without playing.
I don’t think it s good to have a high volatility for not playing in a month. I think that the skill level of someone doesnt change much from not playing in a month, even 2 months, because there are very few balance patches, and even if there s a balance patch, they just need to read the patch notes to see what changed.

What I was getting at is that Glicko MMR is very granular, and would almost never need tie-breakers to differentiate players.
Okay fair enough. My question though is, what are the challenges of just copy pasting World of Warcraft’s current leaderboard system to Guild Wars 2?
Differentiating placements on different Professions and the whole nine yards… (seasons etc)?

With the WoW system it’s IMPOSSIBLE for someone to play just 30 games and AFK with a rating of 3201 and have the number 1 spot. You simply can’t get that rating unless you play a certain number of games.
Their arena system would be perfect.
This way we don’t have to worry about decay or inactivity, we rectify position on the leaderboard based on wins and losses.
This is one thing that the current point system has going for it. We don’t need decay because players can pass each other. However, this gives the impression of grind being how to climb. The point system would have to be much less granular for wins to be a good tie breaker.

What we need to do is scrap the current concept of the leaderboard and go with personal rating like WoW.
So 3 people could have a rating of 3103 like in the link below with a rank of 23, 24 and 25 respectively. We all know that someone with a 3103 rating is godlike in PvP (The leaderboard is serving its purpose).

I think with a free PvP client, there will be more players
I would do it for the next 4 months. To at least test out the theory. Let players accumulate stuff from tracks & preview skins, but never be able to ware it or spend what they accumulate till they buy the game.
No, they should be able to spend it, but they can’t use the Auction House. Then can level up to 80 using tomes and use all consumables in the Heart of the Mists.
Trust me, once they get to 80 in PvP they are going to want to buy the game so they can use their level 80 in the real PvE world.

Free to Play = Anybody can download it and play it, like LoL and soon to be Wildstar.
