Do you think Countless’ condi Mesmer build is bad?
where zerk needs to peel off you will need to as well BUT your stacks keep ticking.
I keep seeing people use this as an example. It really doesn’t work this way in reality.
People make it seem like condi specs can just throw up DoT’s and dodge around and avoid stuff while their damage keeps ticking, whilst zerkers have all this down time while avoiding damage.
It may seem that way when you try to scratch it down on paper, but reality is a far cry from this scenario. ESPECIALLY with Mesmers.
Mesmers from inception: Hey ArenaNet, we would really love to have Main hand Pistol.
ArenaNet: Okay, that’s what you want? Here’s an offhand shield.
Do you want to make them “useful” or “popular”? Because technically condition builds can still work though taking down enemies is not going to be as fast. That said, I will admit that they are on the weak side in open PvE and we are slowly transitioning to facing enemies that would need condition-based builds to defeat more quickly.
Useful. Condition builds work very poorly in its current state. You can’t even kill objects.
Fixing broken things are a good step to seeing a classes real weak spots so they can be fixed properly. (Whether they DO it or not is out of my hands, but the above still stands.)
Exactly. This was my point.
I play a Mesmer. I’m not in the Meta. Yes I’m salty.
I’ve been experiencing a lot of lag in sPvP as well lately. Not sure what the issue is.
-snip-
Hybrid builds are also sub optimal.
Magic Toker still won MVP for the day.
I took advantage of these spots to the fullest.
-snip-
I play a Mesmer, so I’m also negatively impacted by this change.
Nevertheless, I think the development team should use this as an opportunity to take a closer look at profession mechanics and balance.
I am happy they are fixing this.
I never liked the idea about porting through a lot of the areas I currently can. Even though I take advantage of it now, it feels cheesy and unsatisfying.
The solution of having all conditions applied over the cap hit as direct damage would not be affected by the so called condition cap.
It’s been said by Anet devs that they cannot raise the condi caps because the hardware just can’t do it.
Source?
I’m kinda happy they are fixing some of the ridiculous teleport spots. Some of them didn’t make sense.
Let’s call a spade a spade. Many of them were bugs.
If your Mesmer has an outfit active, covering your armor, the clones do not have the outfit on but the original armor being covered up. So for right now, if you are a mesmer who uses clones to distract other players, doing it with an outfit on doesn’t really work as you stand out from them.
Also, Mesmer clones do not have an offhand if you are dual wielding.
I’ve read the same in a couple of places by Anet devs… which is why I have no hope for Condi pve builds and never plan on running one myself.
Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.
Now that they have an expansion coming and they have the means we’ll see if they can make these changes so that the rest of the game can be fixed.
We can only hope.
-snip-
This is actually not a bad idea.
If they came in white, I would buy them.
It’s incredible how many people are defending where conditions are now when ArenaNet themselves have expressed concern about the current state.
The only thing standing in the way of personal stacks is EPIDEMIC.
/2 cents.
Which could be changed to "Spread up to “x stacks” of all conditions on a target foe to all nearby foes."
So limit the number of stacks allowed to be spread
Don’t know what your problem is, mine absolutely shreds.
Your logical fallacy is: “Anecdotal”
Why are you not coming tho?
What if there were no hypothetical situations?
-snip-
People aren’t saying that bleed caps are the problem. But in order to fix the problem, the base mechanics need to change. Bleed cap was an example of one of those base mechanics.
Please stop making thread like this there is no chance they will made some radical change before HoT so this is pointless
Huh? Have you heard of stability/defiance change??
I was just about to type this out.
@StickerHappy.8052
I give props where props are due. Real recognize real hommie and you look unfamiliar.
Losing hope when seeing Toker on the other team is called Logic.
I support you two 100%.
I voted Practice Makes Perfect because the PMP tag sounds like Pimp.
I concur. It really should be Blu, he has worked hard as hell. I remember when people gave him so much crap and he stuck through it all.
Their biggest weapon is making people lose hope.

Allow individual applications of conditions per player on mobs.
Have you ever seen an MMO support thousands of conditions on a single target?
Every other MMO that supports DoT DPS classes. Like literally EVERY other MMO.
I like the idea of individual stacks of a condition per player.
So let’s use Bleeds as an example.
Upon the initial application of the bleed, you will only see your stacks while they build up, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Upon reaching the maximum 25 stacks, you will see the number of max stacks per player.
Therefore, if 8 people have the maximum 25 stacks on the boss, you will see 8 represented on the general bleed icon on the boss.
This is also what is seen by anyone NOT applying bleeds.
A similar setup can be done for all conditions.
This will prevent too many icons on the boss and it will allow individual applications of separate conditions, ultimately removing the condition “cap” and making conditions viable.
This should be PvE only.
(edited by Jasher.6580)
Allow individual applications of conditions per player on mobs.
Change the way low value conditions work against enemy NPC’s. eg. Confusion and Torment.
Thank you.
Your literacy astounds me.
So Magic Toker lost in a 1v1 tournament… are you implying that because he lost in a 1v1 tournament he’s not the best Thief NA?
Best at what? Team pvp? Probably. Thief? No.
If you don’t think Magic Toker is the best Thief then all I have to say to you is this…
Watch him cry about Fire/Air like he cried about quickness Hundred Blades when it was an L2P issue.
Quickness Hundred Blades was broken which is why they fixed it. Quickness pistol whip was broken, which is why they fixed it.
It was not a learn to play issue. You don’t know me, and you don’t know how well I play.
My gripe was with ALL one shot mechanics in PvP shortly after release. They fixed them all. They did. Why did they fix them? Because it was conceptually flawed and broken when paired with the conquest mechanic.
Hide in a corner, count someone’s dodges and depending on profession and build, ensure that they hit all their defensive cooldowns, pop out and one shot them?
Utterly stupid.
One shot mechanics did not make sense.
The developers agreed with me and fixed them. I am happy.
I have absolutely zero issues with stacking Air and Fire sigils.
As a matter of fact, even though balance isn’t perfect right now, there aren’t any glaring issues with any of the professions like how it was shortly after release.
That being said, I understand why you would want me to cry. My tears are like the sweet nectar of the honeydew. Whenever I decide to secrete the rich delectable springs of deliciousness, I will be sure to call you right away so you can partake in the sugary mouthwatering ambrosia.
My frand Jasher! You have been afk for over a year!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
Indeed I have been! But I’m back now! Wahoo!
I understand why people are trying to do this… Nevertheless, players need to understand that Magic Toker is a member of that team.
Playing against Magic Toker only accomplishes one thing…

He is the best. Incoming haters who wish they were as good as him.
it’s not skyhammer
No… no… I’m pretty sure it’s skyhammer. There’s always that one kittenbag that votes for skyhammer. Even if we don’t get it, I’m kittened off that he even created a CHANCE for me to get it.
The people who vote for skyhammer needs to get slapped hard.
Guys, guys no need to be hostile.
Hello Donkeyhacks, first of all you have a very funny name. I like funny names.
I digress…
I play a Mesmer and I would like to make an attempt at answering your question…
First of all… no Mesmers did not get buffed. Personally I think they need a buff, but that is another topic altogether.
The Mesmers you played against in the past were probably not very good. It takes a lot of practice to execute a proper shatter combo against a decent player or a bad player paying attention.
Good Mesmers are in the minority and you were unfortunate enough to face a few decent ones recently.
That is the only logical explanation I could think of to explain your current dilemma.
Why did you name yourself Donkeyhacks?
I’ve looked into this and unfortunately it’s one of those “crazy complicated code jargon reasons” why it’s improbable this would change. The complexity vs payoff makes it a very low priority item.
Changing the code is not even half the work…
Have you ever heard of a “hotfix”?
Would I like them to pool already limited resources into it? Hell no…
You make it seem as if it will require some heterogeneous and intricate coding to bypass one of the loading screens.
In essence it currently loads you into lobby first, after you get loaded into that map it makes an attempt to load you back into your match.
What SHOULD happen is that it loads you back into your match upon relogging and bypass the attempt to load you into the lobby.
There is no pooling of limited resources into anything. If they like, I could help them with the code.
… or at least give us an option to eliminate one of them in the interface. The most frustrating thing if you get dc’d during a match or at the start of a match is that double loading screen.
It’s unnecessary.
I created a strawpoll in my signature.
“Has flashback to toker vs d/d p/p thief triggerless duels, streamed on blus channel”
Common he’s a great player, but definitely not the best duelist, on thief at least.
Which is why my list didn’t have him as the best “duelist” but the BEST overall player.
-snip-
My list is the only legit list.
