A counter voice to all the Jumping puzzle hate, I love them, and for me they are an essential part to guild wars 2.
I want jump puzzles in the game because a lot of people like them. Nevertheless, I think it should be OPTIONAL content. Like Keg Brawl.
The people who like it can go do it.
It’s not that I “dislike” jump puzzles. They literally make me nauseous when I do them. They make me feel sick.
Thats not a jumping puzzle sorry…

Uncategorized Fractal Complete the Raving Asura’s jumping puzzle.
-snip-
Jumping over a puddle is different from jumping to a specific location where if you miss… you die.
Different things happen in the brain when you attempting to complete a complex task than if you’re just jumping over a fence where missing the jump amounts to literally no consequence.
The Harpies place rings on the platforms which knocks you off by the way… you can’t just do it a your own leisure.
-snip-
Platform jumping are jump puzzles. You have to gauge distance and speed to make the jump properly. It can trigger motion sickness in many players. But it doesn’t happen to you so everyone else it does happen to is kittened. Am I doing it right?
I agree with the OP. I am also completely against jump puzzles in dungeons and fractals. They make me literally sick and triggers massive headaches. I remember they said it would be optional content, it doesn’t feel like that anymore.
Well luckily there aren’t any JPs in dungeons or fractals. So you’re good.
Uncategorized Fractal says hello. Mad King’s Clock Tower says hello.
I agree with the OP. I am also completely against jump puzzles in dungeons and fractals. They make me literally sick and triggers massive headaches. I remember they said it would be optional content, it doesn’t feel like that anymore.
Why am I getting chain cc’d by 2 Engineers and then focus pulled for a one shot kill by a Mesmer?
Why?
Well, according to the data that I recorded when I talked to 3 people in the Mists today, GW2 players like getting one-shot and skipping the downed state.
Sorry OP. Can’t please em all, am I right?
/This has been a sarcastic post
Well played. lol
Capricorn was not balanced, but I would have preferred dealing with Capricorn and underwater combat in Solo Queue as the lesser of two evils.
Bottom line is, people do not like getting one shot. In a PvP game, when you take away the feel of putting up a fight and introducing a mechanic that kills you instantly. It is not good. Generally people hate that.
Check out my signature. Most of us hate it.
-snip-
Unfortunately they play Warriors mainly. Grouch plays an Engineer though. shrug
There are a few. Look at my signature. The majority of us hate it though and it makes us want to quit the game.
Can you care to explain why the majority players dislike Skyhammer? I know that the laser can be annoying at times but overall I enjoy playing in Skyhammer.
Because we do not find dying by a one shot mechanic fun. People can talk about “good positioning blah blah blah” all they want… but the majority of us find it annoying. We don’t think it is funny or fun… it is annoying.
Also focus Mesmers, Engineers and to a lesser degree Necromancers have a huge advantage when played in the right hands. At the end of the day, when playing against good players who play those classes, it’s not fair.
Even those of us who switch to those cheese builds, it’s not fun either. It feels cheap and annoying.
It’s fine that you find it fun. That’s great, but for a lot of us, we would rather AFK than play that map which is fun for no one. Forcing us to play something we hate in a video game (which is supposed to be fun) is stupid.

The correct answer to your question is because the gentleman in the picture below along with other developers mains as a Warrior.
There are a few. Look at my signature. The majority of us hate it though and it makes us want to quit the game.
They just permanently banned me on the official twitch channel for bashing skyhammer.
If you get disconnected and you’re trying to log back into a game, the double loading screen is extremely disadvantageous. Please remove the Heart of the Mists loading screen completely if you are already in a PvP map.
On a side note, I got Skyhammer tonight. Needless to say, it made me very upset. There is now a very large hole I made in my bedroom closet door. I punched the door. Skyhammer infuriates me. Why am I getting chain cc’d by 2 Engineers and then focus pulled for a one shot kill by a Mesmer?
Why?
I just realized I am still very upset right now. I need to get drunk and break things.
Proving once more I’m right..otherwise you would not invest the time etc to reply in a way you have been doing

We have purposely trained him wrong… as a joke.
LMAO.

I think showing the information is extremely important.
You know what, I’m usually against AFKers, but I support the idea of going AFK on this map. #afkskyhammer
Huttball, Huttball……Huttball…..
How’s about….some Huttball….with a side of some Huttball
This would be great actually.
- Unlocking Skills, Traits, consumable, bundles, and ect.
No No No No.
STOP this right now.
The MAJORITY of us HATE unlocking things in sPvP.
It’s not fun and it is not fair.
No… just no.
Now I have never played SW:TOR but Adding in more features to let players feel more engaged or involved in each game would be fantastic.
These all could simply add mild bonuses to your PvP ranks, titles or perhaps even your Reward tracks, making unlocking these features more involving to those who play effectively.
Bonus Features for example:
-Revenge: gain a bonus for killing the player who previously killed you.
-Double Kill: gain a slight bonus for killing two players in X seconds.
-Triple Kill: gain a bonus for killing three players in X seconds.
-Massacre: gain a large bonus for killing more than three opponents in X seconds.
-Immortal: gain a bonus at the end of the match for never dying.
-Slippery: gain a bonus once your health gets below 5% and live.
-Head Hunter: gain a bonus for killing every member of the enemy team.
-Justice: gain a bonus for Killing an enemy that recently killed one of your allies.
-Vigilant:gain a bonus every X minutes for standing on a captured point.
-Persistence: gain a bonus for dying X times in X minutes.
-Pharmacist: gain a bonus for curing X conditions off allies.
-Medic: gain a bonus for healing X total health amongst your allies.
-Professional: gain a bonus for interrupting an enemies Heal Skill. Some fun statistics to see per game would be:
-Total time spent incapacitated: total accumulated time you were unable to control your character.
-Favorite Boon: the boon that had the most upkeep on your character.
-Favorite Kill: What effect/skill from a source you control dealt the most damage.
-Favorite Death: What effect/skill more frequently caused your death.
-Supporter: Number of allies effected by boons from your source.
-Most grateful: The ally that gained the most health from a source that your control.
-Masters Reflex: Number of successful dodges.
-Toxicity: Number of healing prevented through poison from your source.
This. Is. Genius.
Just another example of complete ineptness at Anet. Newsflash dev team….the playerbase HATES it. Yep sorry to burst the bubble of whomever designed it but you failed. This game is actually pretty much kitten if you like sPvP or WvW.
This was harsh, but I actually agree with it.
Can’t help but think about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjmOkfzi0xc while reading this thread lawl
I feel like killing myself after watching that.

You don’t need to earn the right to speak. If you interpreted my statement as saying that you shouldn’t speak at all, then I apologize.
What I’m saying is that your experience seems limited and it may skew the bigger picture.
I agree, you can have a solid idea of what’s going on without being in the top 100. Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that the current state of the game isn’t the spamfest your described in the OP.
If the meta right now is “low risk, high reward”… then why can’t anyone form a team and beat the top players? There are a lot of teams out there and I have been fortunate enough to play with some of the top players.
People are calling “gg” before the game even starts when they don’t recognize the team they are playing against. The good players are known. The good teams are known.
If the game was as skill-less as you described in the original post then the same top players wouldn’t consistently dominate the way they do now, and there would be a lot more RNG when it comes to bagging a win.
-snip-
While I agree that PvP needs some serious help, after reading your post I am left with the impression that you don’t know a whole lot about playing properly and you haven’t played against any good teams.
If you think the game is easy, try and coordinate some scrims against some top teams and win against them. Until you can beat the top players and actually rank up on the leaderboards, don’t complain about easy.
This game takes a decent amount of skill (even though people vehemently deny this fact). It’s also exceedingly obvious as you transcend specific tiers on the leaderboards.
Playing against a top 500 team feels very different from playing against a top 100 team.
In addition, playing against a top 50 team is painful for anyone who isn’t in that bracket.
I’ve playing GW1, I find the current game (GW2) a lot more fun to play that GW1. So, I’ll add to this thread by saying… yes, a lot of work needs to be done… but so far, it’s more fun than anything on the market right now.
If you enjoy GW1, go find a group of people who agree with you, and go play against each other on GW1.
Kind Regards,
Jasher

Apparently that is not your “balance philosophy” so please fix this. In PvE (Dungeons), ranged Rangers are bad… really really bad.
The problem isn’t Might Stacking or the Runes. The Problem is Warriors because D/D Eles and Thieves, Ele’s, Engies, etc. with strength runes are not overpowered.
Have 2 tabs:
Players
- Damage Done
- Damage Received
- Healing Done
- Healing Received
- Number of successful dodges
- Number of successful cc (stun/fear/daze)
- Number of successful rez
- Number of successful stomp
Game mode: Conquest
- Number of cap
- Number of decap
- Number of stall (if the point is contested for more than 10 seconds, it counts as a stall)
- Extra points (like boss kills, orb runs)
Keep it simple, we don’t need to separate condition damage and physical damage. Other stats like rez/stomp are much more useful.
Also, please darken the health bar with the amount of damage conditions would take if not cleansed.
I wouldn’t mind this simplified option either.
We agree the scoreboard needs an overhaul at some point. What kind of functionality would you want to see on the scoreboard? Stat comparison between teams? Between players? What you scored best in?
The comparison would be between players (in sw:tor you have the option as you can see on the tabs below the scoreboard [all, allies, enemies]). I also like the idea of an MVP vote option like in SW:TOR. You can’t vote for yourself. You have to vote for someone else on the team, and they get a bonus for the MVP placement.
I’ve never played this game, but something like this (info) or similar sounds like a good idea.
I’m glad you liked the idea. If anyone has any other contributions to improve on the original post, that would be awesome.
-snip-
Categorize them in tabs with six in each:
Damage
Condition Damage Done
Physical Damage Done
Reflect Damage Done
Stomps
Overall Damage Done
Objective
Captures Prevented
Constructs Destroyed
Creatures Killed
Decaps Prevented
Points Captured
Points Neutralized
Personal
Damage Received
Deaths
Disrupted
Dodges
Healing Received
Interrupts
Support
Damage Blocked
Damage Dodged
Damage Evaded
Damage Reflected
Healing Done
Resurrections

In SW:TOR, you have the option to see: All, Allies and Enemies in tabs (that would be nice). I also like the idea of an MVP vote option like in SW:TOR. You can’t vote for yourself, you have to vote for someone else on your team… the player then gets a bonus for the MVP placement.

“People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it’s true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.”

Anyone who picks up the flag could get permanent swiftness to make it so all classes could be flag carriers.
Capture the flag would be really fun.
Retaliation is fine.
I haven’t been terribly active in PvP in a while and I’m not top of leaderboards, nor do I run in tournaments, but I would recommend checking out Dante’s build list:
He follows high level PvP builds pretty closely and while it’s only as up to date as of 4/24, I don’t think there has been much of anything that’s really changed to out date this (no major balance patches).
That build list though current isn’t very up to date, especially for Ranger.
I don’t think he really cares enough if he reposted this into spvp main…
The quality of the responses in this thread are substantially higher than the ones in the Ranger forum. I’m glad I posted here.
The other 2 spirits are completely useless….. you should take eurantien’s advice. Easily one of the best sPvP Rangers na.
Thanks.

Hey There, I didn’t “dislike” your answer. I just like scouting for more information from a variety of sources.
That Spirit Ranger build is unlike any other I’ve seen. There are only two spirits including the Elite?
Is sacrificing the utility of two more spirits worth it?
Of the three builds you’ve linked, which do you feel is the most effective and why?
(edited by Jasher.6580)
So my first thought was to ask some of the top players in the game. I was met with a few jokes but no real answer to my question. The closest thing to a valid response was being told to roll an Engineer instead.
I then decided to make a post on the profession specific forum where a few people gave some feedback, none of these people were actually on the leaderboards so I took their feedback with a grain of salt. I did try a few of the builds though…
So here goes, let me ask the general population. Since the recent changes, could someone link me the most effective Ranger build for high bracket sPvP. Something that is not only viable but effective.
Kind Regards… also please don’t bury this in the Ranger forums. I’ve already tried that avenue.
Thanks.

I posted this suggestion elsewhere:
I think in the matter of a DC, the person should be kicked… they should then pick up a loss and the system should cycle and immediately fill the position with someone else in the queue.
The person who is substituted mid match would be immune to picking up a loss if they lose the game but they are still eligible for a win bonus if they fight hard enough and win.
Problem solved without utilizing dishonorable.
Bans are NOT good for the game.
You know what’s funny? I hate 4v5 just as much as the other guy. But I guarantee you that people would quit the game in droves with some of the suggestions I am seeing in this thread.
I’ve never experienced a dishonorable debuff, and I probably never will… nevertheless, I think even the current system may be a little too harsh.

I was wondering if anyone could clue me in on some viable sPvP builds for Rangers that work against higher tier teams.
I am well aware that Spirit Rangers have “fell off” substantially following the nerfs to sun spirit and spirit cooldowns and the buffs to everyone else.
I would really love some assistance.
Kind Regards,
Jasher
Do you think that’s more of a problem stemming from players not being able to easily switch builds on a per-map basis?
Not really Evan, no.
The problem is about counter play or lack thereof with the partiality titling heavily in favor for Focus Memsers and Decap Engineers… to a lesser degree Necromancers.
The video below will explain in detail why Skyhammer is bad, and why the push/pull one shot mechanics are bad.
(edited by Jasher.6580)
Here is what I get from this thread.
There are a lot of people who hate Skyhammer and the developers are planning on coddling the minority who contribute to making the majority miserable.
The people who like this map, like it at the expense of making everyone else miserable.
The only people who have fun on this map are the people pulling and pushing people off with troll builds. The people they are doing it to HATES it. Don’t FORCE us to play with these people… because basically that is what you want to do.
