Also, how am I trolling? I sincerely would like to improve my damage.

I think "Enemy Tagging" in PvE and WvW needs revision.

It was done in some other games.

You “tag” enemies when you heal/buff someone who has those enemies tagged.

Simple as that, and would go a long way.

This is a good idea…

Illusions should stay active until you leave combat.

First of all, illusions are nothing like DoTs… with a DoT based class, you can start stacking DoT’s on another target immediately after your target is dead… Also, they usually have a lot of AoE DoT’s rolling on other targets while focusing on their main target…

With illusions however, it is the Mesmers MAIN source of damage and when a target dies, their phantasms are still on cooldown… Your point is not only invalid but it is misinformed and borderline insulting.

Cons: None.

There needs to be a way to reward loot drops in PvE and WvW based on player contribution and not solely on how much AoE damage you can dish out. A lot of players are being punished with less loot due to their choice on play-style and/or weaponset.

A support oriented character has a lot less loot available to them due to their inability to “tag” targets either because of insufficient damage or having an “inferior” AoE weaponset.

I really feel like this issue needs to be addressed.

Also… I’m not necessarily -demanding- more damage. I’m just wondering/hoping, that there is another build I could use that could “eek” out more damage than the build I posted above.

There is no reason to be so impassioned. I love high damage, and I love burst. I love my Warrior.

I was toying with the build from this link:

I think 19k crits are a bit lacklustre… at least for my personal taste. I don’t care how “glass cannon” I need to be to accomplish this feat… I just need to get my damage higher.

MUCH higher.

I think of Warriors as the quintessence of damage in Guild Wars 2. Whichever profession holds second place in damage should be a very… very far second. I’m willing to make the sacrifice of disregarding any and all survivability to boost my damage. I want my Warrior to be a reckless, bloodthirsty exemplar of death.

I would greatly appreciate some feedback so I can get my damage higher than what my current hundred blades are doing. If anyone has any better damage builds than the one I linked above, please enlighten me. Thank you so much for the feedback.

Have a wonderful day.

Suddenly, EVERYONE is driving that new car.

People tend to notice more of something the moment they also have it.

That is why refusing to play something that does not appear “uncommon” or “unique” anymore is a horrible reason to not play it. You’ll simply never be happy and you are simply punishing yourself while everyone else is having fun.

Mistfire Wolf:

The wolf applies Chilling and Burning to foes when attacking, has a short-range area of effect skill and charges distant foes knocking them down.

After using the aoe skill, the wolf gains Air Attunement, even if the summoner is not an Elementalist.

When unsummoned, the wolf gives life force to nearby Necromancers

At level 80 the wolf has about 10000 health and 2000 armor, its auto-attack deals approximately 900-1000 damage (about 1500 on criticals), plus 600 burning damage each second. The aoe skill has almost the same damage but does multiple hits, while the charge deals about 900-1200 damage on normal hits. Chilling and burning is applied with every attack.

Hounds of Balthazar:

The hounds cause burning to foes on every attack and use leap attack which hits enemies in the area of effect.

The leap attack counts as Leap Finisher.

At level 80, each hound has about 6000 health and 2000 armor, and their attacks deals approximately 450-500 damage (about 700 on critical hits), plus 750 burning damage each second. The leap attack deals about 1800-2000 damage.

Jasher.6580

I cant see how that can be good.
Not only in pve groups there will be other sources of burning, making yours getting overide quite often, but also burning only gets 25% of your condition damage (spread towards its duration).
That said, you’ll get far more advante with power than condition dmg. Also, power affects secondary status and will affect retaliation.

On solo play, I can see it working, to some extent, but you are missing a lot of “defensive” needs to survive the solo aspect of this game at 80 (many, many mobs that hits hard)

I understand… what’s the highest viable damage build for explorable mode dungeons have you found? And what gear type, runes, sigils and dance moves do you use generally?

Yeah… true… they are fixing condition damage on objects though… so I’m assuming they are fixing all creatures “immune” to it as well. And mobs don’t generally get rid conditions either. This thread is more about PvE than anything else.

Jasher.6580

Might be interesting to play around with in PvP/WvW, but I highly doubt it’ll be effective in PvE. Building that way just severely hampers your ability to multi-role in a dungeon, especially since other professions are already building towards multiple condition damages. Since burning will (I believe) apply the highest damaging burn first, if you’re constantly spamming Justice then you might not even be the “owner” of the burning condition on the enemy.

I’d say you’d be better off spec’ing for Power/Toughness for retaliation damage and to actually take a few hits for said retaliation, and let those around you whose classes are better suited to condition damage take up the charge.

TL,DR: Focus on surviving to spread burning potential to your allies, not the actual damage. Radiance is great for this.

Wow… I didn’t know that burn (along with other conditions) worked that way… so basically, if you have a group with 5 fire DoT elementalists, the condition damage will only be recognized by one of them… and the only other damage recognized by the mob is the initial hit from each spell?

Condition damage builds suck then… why did they make conditions work like that? Not worth it at all, even if this build did have superior condition damage.

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying… I don’t care about burn duration. Condition damage increases what each tick of the burn does. Therefore I’m wondering how viable this condition damage build is…

Does increasing the burn damage through condition damage with gear, traits etc… outweigh a power precision build… the theroycrafters on that noxxic site apparently thinks so.

I would really love to know the math behind their decisions though.

Apparently it says the stat priority is:

Condition Damage > Condition Duration > Power = Precision = Critical Damage.
-
I’m assuming then that I should gear with the Carrion Draconic set and get some condition damage runes… not sure what the suggesion would be for sigils… but, does anyone have the math behind these stat weights?

I always assumed that the burning was just to put up the debuff so my white attacks could hit harder and therefore gear for Pow/Precision/Crit… apparently I’m doing it all wrong?

Feedback is appreciated.

Regardless, I love the skillset on the S/P… how close is the damage between the D/D and the S/P?

I was also wondering, what’s the best possible option for Sword/Pistol when it comes to gear stat combos weights e.g. (45 Power/ +32 Toughness/ + 32 Vitality), Runes e.g. (1 Rune of Superior Divinity, +6 Runes of Superior Scholar) and Sigils e.g. (Mainhand: Superior Sigil of Air, Offhand: Superior Sigil of Force)?

Currently a fast run with a good group doing everything flawlessly is between 20-25 mins… the average player doing explorable mode dungeons are doing them in a little over an hour… So let’s say that’s a 50 min difference… so that’s an hour and a half of someone stuck in a dungeon. Now equate wipes… That’s easily a 2 – 3 hour run trying to figure out mechanics.

Plain and simple this system is a safety net for stopping crazy farming when people find exploits that make each run super fast. We are also addressing those loopholes, but that takes time and new ones might always be discovered. If you and your group do the dungeons without skipping large sections and run different chains this system shoul(bugs aside) never impact you.

Addendum for clarity, super fast means < 30 minutes, and even then you must hit that speed multiple times in a row before you start seeing any impact.

Thanks for the reply Jon, and thanks for giving a time. However, my group just did a legit maggs run and a legit AC path 2 run in 25 minutes each. Of course with the bug we all got different rewards but i will post that in the proper forum with times.

They were not death free runs and we didn’t feel like we did them as fast as we could have, so when we bring our “A” game we will basically be waiting in front of the last boss room for 10 minutes to make sure we get full rewards….not fun. But, I guess if the system starts to work like you hope and it takes multiple sub 30 minute runs in a row we should be fine.

I will also be posting links to the 2 runs we just did(as soon as they are uploaded) to prove we did them legit.

Thanks and i hope a fix is on its way soon.

Thank you this is excellent info. We would like dungeons to be legit hard enough to take closer to 45 mins but if we can’t accomplish that goal we can look at the speed clear times from non exploiters and easily adjust the system. The goal is that hardcore farmers don’t even see this thing but only exploiters. We will keep working towards that goal.

Jon

Jon, I came up with an idea that rewards people of skill.

It works like this:

You start an explore dungeon with 360 possible tokens you can get for the run.

Each death = -5 tokens.

At the beginning of each dungeon, there is a dynamic event that starts. This represents the path you’ve chosen and the percentage of it’s completion dictates how much of the 360 tokens you get at the end of the dungeon.

So, if I skip trash I don’t fulfill the event to it’s completion, therefore I don’t get the full 360 tokens. If I die a lot, again, I lose my rewards as I go through.

When you get to a boss, lets say the first one and you’ve completed 15% of the dungeon with one death, you’d get the full 15% of your tokens -5 for the death. So this way, if people need to leave, they can and aren’t penalized for real life.

If you’re able to complete a dungeon without any deaths, 100% and within a time frame, you get an achievement. Completing all paths + story mode with this achievement would award you a weapon of choice for that dungeon.

See, you’re rewarded for being skilled.

You’re encouraged to repeat the content.

You’re penalized for skipping.

This would encourage class stacking. Not a good idea imho.

45 mins seems perfect for me

45 mins for a perfect execution would amount to hours of frustration for the average gamer. People don’t have that much time to invest in structured (team) video game activity. That’s hours of neglecting the wife and kids. Or just hours of wiping and then people leaving because they refuse to neglect the wife and kids.

Jasher.6580

ArenaNet, can you please release an official statement regarding your opinion of PvE’s current state, the specific plans you have to actually improve them, and the future of PvE in general? If this has already been done, can a link or quote be provided?

I have consistently been trying to force myself to believe that I have been in sub-par groups. I have tried making excuses like “my gear isn’t good enough”, “or maybe its my build”. No. I can’t take this anymore. I’ve been working very hard to establish a guild on my server – I’ve recruited over 115 members. I bought a Ventrilo server. I created a website. I organize and schedule events. But no longer can I do this – after running CoF (story) again (so that my friend could obtain some better gear), I want to quit this game for good. We were in there for over 2 hours trying to kill mobs with a ridiculous amount of HP. I probably died over 20 times. After all that hard work I get 13 silver (spent about 30 silver in repairs, and had to loan 50 silver to my friend because he ran out of money repairing) and 88k experience [lmao]. He did not get a single piece of gear that he could use. This game will go down in history as one of the worst MMO games ever created in the history of mankind.

It’s a known issue. They say they are going to fix it. What a lot of us are wondering is how this ATROCIOUS reward system actually made it to the live game. Give them another shot though, just wait and see how they decide to improve it. We’re all hoping it’s a complete overhaul… the difficulty is a non issue. If they want the game to be tough as nails, bang my head against the wall hard… that’s their prerogative. They need to increase the rewards by a million fold though.
