I also hate this map with the fiery passion of a thousand burning stars.
I support this 100% and usually I disagree with everything bhagwad.4281 says.
If you lose, you win nothing.
What will losers get? They will have a decrease in their position on the leaderboards.
Then you can allow a slight buff in rewards to the winners.
Keep the rewards in hotjoins as they are now. This will encourage people to stay in that nesting pod and learn how to win.
Make it happen please. I’m a huge fan of Good Fights, and I want to see this happen.
it would be fairly easy to do a blind odds pool. (people bet X gold on team-1 or team-2 to win any given game and the odds are determined by how much gold is placed on either team).
the real problem is finding someone that everyone will trust with their gold, that will be around all day to take bets, and that won’t bet themselves.
would be great, but GL. you may as well make a betting pool with friends/ guildies
ACTUALLY- now that I think about it, it would be fairly easy. If you have a storage guild, just invite people and give them permissions to deposit in stash, and have them mail you their pick for any given game.
Exactly, someone do this please!
sPvP DPS: Acandis, Itty Bitty Bunker
sPvP Bunker: Kensuda, Tage, Fraelina
sPvP Hybrid/Support: Stunningstyles
PvE: Obal (heads and shoulders above every other PvE Guardian)
WvW: Siegerazor
Troll: Jasher, Hehk
(edited by Jasher.6580)
for that to work spectator and oh ya balance would have to be better.
Not really. As long as there is a winner and loser it will work.
Someone more organized than me should start a gold betting service on tournaments. I would love to make some gold betting on tournies.
Please and thank you.

I am glad 8v8’s are gone.
Replace the glass panels with electricity pulses, so it damages/stuns people and it’s not a cheesey one shot move. Plus make it so you can dodge and block the skyhammer attacks.
You know… I must say, I believe that this last patch is the best patch you guys have released for PvP.
Only a fool can deny that you guys did a kitten good job.
Your hard work has not gone unnoticed.
A lot of quality of life changes took place, D/D Ele and Power Rangers are now viable… among other things.
This patch was good.
That being said, please remove Skyhammer from soloqueue.
Love always,
Jasher
They don’t need to remove the map they just need to remove the glass panels, and make the hammer dodge/blockable
I agree, the hammer needs to be dodge/blockable. That is a must.
Also, I would even be cool if the glass panels were replaced with other devices which could activate periodic damage distributors like pulses of electricity or condition appliers like spike traps that apply bleeds so it’s not a one shot cheese move.
im a zerker ranger and i dont use those traits. believe me, use signet of beastmaster or you’d be a thief’s lunch.
Have you tried using the new trait?
I certainly wasn’t handed these traits, I had to earn them and so will new players.
The issue is rerolling. It basically forces you to have a level 80 ranger on hand if you want to experiment with builds.
Do you have to be level 80 to buy them from the vendor?
No you don’t but you have to invest time and gold before you can qualify to unlock them just to try it out.
hopefully anet will do something about it. as you mentioned this was one of the issues highlighted by pvp players before the patch.
I know, it was such a glaring and obvious concern too. And we said it again and again… alas to no avail.
But seriously though… this was something the community was screaming at the top of their lungs from the announcement.
I certainly wasn’t handed these traits, I had to earn them and so will new players.
So you want to have an advantage over new players or people looking to reroll?
This is not about Rangers. I am sure people can find other examples with other professions as well. But I will use Rangers as an example to accentuate the larger issue.
So, I want to roll a Power Ranger and try it out for a bit.
Sadly… I cannot.
Apparently “Read The Wind” and “Survival of the Fittest” are some new sexy hotness traits needed to make the build work effectively.
This was one of the fears highlighted to the developers before the patch.
Our fears are coming into fruition.
Why is this happening?
Why can’t a new player log in as a level 1 and play the most effective Power Ranger build?
I am a little upset, and very disappointed with ArenaNet.
The forums could not handle the amount of complaints that would come in from the abuse a system like this would receive.
How would they abuse it?
Make it so people can wager gold bets before a match. Winner takes whatever is placed in the pot.
This would be awesome.
D/D elementalist provides decent group support and has okay damage and survivability. It’s still a bit too early to tell if they’ll see play at high levels. But they’re clearly a support role, not a damage role.
I’ve yet to see a meditation DPS guardian be effective in a tPvP match. Their damage is too easy to avoid, they lack CC so it’s easy to get away, they provide little or no group support, they lack defenses and melt in a team fight, and they have no escape mechanism or mobility outside of fights.
Support-DPS hybrids with shouts have the same damage and CC issues of meditation guardian, but they at least provide group support. However, with the currently available stat combinations, either their damage is laughable and you may as well go bunker, or they still die easily.
I know myself, Acandis and Itty Bitty bunker have had varying success with meditation builds. Also, the damage is decent.
Between a Meditation Guard and the D/D Ele, which does more damage and by how much?
iWarlock had always hit that hard. As a matter of fact, they used to hit harder back in the day.
So I’m hearing a lot of people mention how effective the new D/D Elementalists are.
Which do you think is more effective in high end tournament games?
Also, what do you think the difficulty levels are on a comparative level?
Add me. Main a warrior in pvp. Rank 35.
Are you in the top 200 on the leaderboards?
well there is definately something up with the NPCs,
the ele for example casts vapor blade (which hits you twice) it hit for 2 4k hits and then the ele used their arcane skill which hit for 9k,
and the mesmers auto attack hits 4kbut i can confirm that its not pve armour values, it happens to my lv 80 wearing exotics too.
Yeah, again, it was a shot in the dark really.
I’ve heard a lot of speculation about NPC’kittenting harder. But is it possible that this is because the PvE gear being carried over into the mists is bugging out and has a lower armor value than level 80 gear?
Now I know this is a shot in the dark, but it is something we could potentially look into as this armor transferance may also be related to Ranger pets dying too quickly after the patch.
It could be isolated to only low level players. Could be…
The claim is that helm and shoulder items do not contribute to your overall armor value, but maybe that could be bugging out as well?
At the end of the day, the devs should take a look at all those factors including NPC damage and pets dying too quickly.
Keeping Skyhammer in the rotation is ArenaNet’s way of letting us know that they hate anyone who takes Solo Queue seriously.
Whenever I see Skyhammer pop, it’s equivalent to someone kicking me violently and repeatedly between my legs with steel toe boots. It’s just constant and swift kicks… to the point where I experience temporary blindness and taste blood in my mouth.
Thanks for the pain ArenaNet. Thanks a lot.
I actually like it… kidding.
I just did a few more tests SubAce, and you can disregard my previous statement. You are indeed correct. Pets are a LOT squishier now.
They either broke something somewhere, or with everything else getting buffed, pets got indirectly nerfed in the survivability department.
It is a problem. Pets are not okay right now.
My pet hasn’t been dying faster either. It may be just your imagination.
I think Condi Guards will bring a lot more to the table than anyone, ever. The new traits they brought out finally unlock new builds that will allow for Guardians to dominate the condition meta – the day has FINALLY come!!
Condi Guards are going to be garbage. Mark my words.
Warriors.
It’s glaringly obvious.
Why does this guy keep saying that he is rank 80???
Anyway, ragequitters get dishonour, working as intended.
Because he is #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80.
Also, on your final statement…

(edited by Jasher.6580)
So I just watched a shoutcast by Bear… no trashtalking ArenaNet, and funny as hell. I approve of his stream 10/10.
That’s why Helseth and Bear were popular viewing. Helseth took his criticism too far though, trying to be all Spartacus, which made Anet cry to Twitch to stop making them look bad.
People like Blu serve their purpose in the presentation of sport. People like that because its neutral, informative, and, every once in a while, exciting to hear. Anet likes that because he can be advertised without making them look anything but good. He knows enough about PR to never be challenged seriously by anyone as a caster until someone smoother comes along.
But
Competition demands color, which is why ESPN is so popular to this day. The “Not Top 10,” blooper reels, feature stories about one player running his mouth, coach meltdowns, dramatizing the events of a game, etc. captivate the audience.
I think Anet wants to aspire for another Grouch though, combining Blu’s PR usefulness with Hairseth/Bear’s competitive personality. People miss Grouch as a caster because he had that mix.
Helseth and Bear, however, haven’t been favored by Anet because they make them look bad when they criticize how the game is balanced. Grouch never went that far, he just subtly made a pass at it like, “Yeah Warrior is… uh… pretty strong right now!” which the audience knew meant, “Warrior is OP and everyone knows it but I’m on stream right now so I won’t say it like that.”
While Anet does need to realize that their game isn’t well balanced, can you blame them for not wanting their game to be publicly berated during a competition?
Great insight.
I’ll say this… and this is just my personal opinion…
Helseth always came off as super whiney. I didn’t agree with his rants on balance (or lack thereof). I always felt a little irritated after watching his stream.
I don’t really know Bear… but if he was as whiney as Helseth then I completely understand why ArenaNet banned him.
If all I hear when I tune into a stream is negativity…
“this is broken”
“that is broken”
“I’m done with this kitten game”
“that is too overpowered”
“they don’t know how to balance the game”
“cry cry cry”
All that makes the viewer want to do is look into possibility of investing their time into another game (especially for the newer viewers).
So yeah… shoutcasters like that are only a cancer.
My gripe was based on the notion that they banned him because he was mean to another shoutcaster. That would have been dumb.
Because of this, I support the removal of Raid on the Capricorn.

It’s a tournament, not a lottery.
The best known teams should be allowed to compete without rng.
What are you using to qualify the best known teams? Are you talking about a tournament system which only a few teams participated in? Or are you talking about my weekend tournament that I play with my friends? Personally I believe my weekend tournament teams are much stronger…See how arbitrary that is?
Serious question, do you think you can build a team that can beat Good Fights?
TUF executives hired coaches Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva, thus they too need to take responsibility for what the say.
… or do you think they should just shut up and coach their teams?
Behaving “badly” is relative. This is the competitive arena… in this world, enmity, passion, resentment and bandwaggon behaviour actually PROMOTES the scene.
Yes – I do have an account, and I will be playing as a normal player, gasp!
Bear – I was open to you being a shoutcaster until you badmouthed one of the most active and helpful members of the GW2 PvP community. I also thought that it was strangely coincidental that after I confronted you about it, a known acquaintance of yours published an adorable video also badmouthing that person and praising you.
Do GW2 shoutcasters need improvement? I don’t think anyone is denying that. Even professional shoutcasters that get paid to do what they do need improvement. You have to give them some credit though – GW2 is not easy to read as a spectator, even as a top 100 QP player.
Sorry, but if you truly wanted to “help the community” as you claimed, you could have at least acted like you would be polite to those putting in a real effort to do the same. I won’t deny that your casts were enjoyable, in an aggro-pvper kind of way, which is why I was open to it in the first place.
If ArenaNet decides to bring you into the program, more power to them. I think you would add a lot of flavor to the team, but I do hope that you learn to treat your peers with some respect.
Back on track – I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the well wishes. It’s meant a lot to see the comments, even from those that didn’t always agree with me in this thread. I will sincerely cherish the time I’ve had on the ArenaNet team and with you all.
For the record, the guy who he “bad mouthed” is someone I believe to be an incredible shoutcaster and someone I respect on many different levels.
That being said… the fact that you barred Bear because he “bad mouthed” someone is incredibly shortsighted.
Having said that, it doesn’t matter what sport it is, or on what level; a rivalry infuses “oomph” into the game. This is exactly what competing is all about, and what Guild Wars 2 eSports was missing.
Some rivalries are small but others are literally larger than life and transcend beyond the genre. Those are the ones that fans love the most. These rivalries involve more than just superiority, but clutch factor, grit and perseverance as well. These are the ones that we all know regardless of age or even knowledge of the game in general.
Rivalries are a logical extension of any “eSport”. When you train for days to become the best at a particular event, you are bound to run into opposition. That opposition can take many forms.
When you take that kind of opposition and drop it into a microcosm of various circumstances, a rivalry is born. They can spring up just about anywhere.
Rivalries are what make “eSports” transcend from mediocre to great. That is what will fill up the streams to capacity.
Trust me on this, bitter rivalries in eSports is a very good thing for this game. Not just between teams but between shoutcasters.
Friend A: “Hey did you hear what Bear said about Jasher in his last stream?”
Friend B: “No… kitten what did he say?”
… next stream, “Friend B” tunes in to listen to Jasher’s stream to see if he will respond… he also tells his friends in guild chat who also tune in. the vicious cycle of entertainment and angst repeats
In the world of competition and rivalries, you cannot be thin skinned… you can’t keep slapping people on the wrist and telling them to play nice because they said something mean about someone else.
In other words, I don’t really know Bear that well, but if you prevented him from shoutcasting (even though you admitted that he would actually benefit the shoutcasting arena) just because he said something mean about someone was wrong. You guys did something wrong, which directly hurt eSports.
Does anyone use the chat as a way to influence the enemy team’s strategy?
For example, I sometimes cap their close undefended close point and say something like “Thank you red/blue team for leaving your point undefended”. This usually relieves some pressure at mid as the enemy team either sends two or three to the point (by which time I’m long gone), or (I’m guessing) screams at their “close holder” to not just leave the point, thereby getting some more favorable odds for us elsewhere on the map.
I’m thinking of other psychological tactics by saying stuff like “I think one red/blue team player is afk”. This isn’t easily verifiable and can cause the others to lose heart and the battle in the mind is already lost.
Playing dirty?
I enjoy doing dances and singing songs. It is very entertaining and enjoyable.
haha well played Moderator, well played. No one will see this thread now.
How ArenaNet is dealing with the skyhammer issue.
1 thread with about 50 posters = they don’t put in perplexity runes.
5000 threads with hundreds upon hundreds of posters = they won’t get rid of skyhammer.Where is the logic
This reminds me of Warlocks and Green Fire in WoW… they are intentionally ignoring us because of defiance.
You really think a comp with a DPS guard is going to make it to the finals?
I absolutely hate this map.
The ship starting sinking once Izzy was no longer our balance guru.
If Izzy was still our “balance guru”, Warriors would be even more OP than they already are.
I was hoping to get a lot more feedback than this. How do the really hardcore top 50 players feel about this?
The Lord of Vain approves of the new patch!!!

2. People with losing records are in the top 100. What? I don’t care who you’ve beaten. If you lose more than win, you shouldn’t even be in the top 500.
This doesn’t make any sense… If out of 10 fights I get pitted against teams like Good Fights and I lose 60% of the time… the fact that I CAN beat them 4 times out of 10 means that my team is kitten good, despite our 60% losing streak.
Your post doesn’t make sense actually. If you were playing against only 1 guild, and only 10 people were on the leaderboard, then sure, your team would be ranked 6-10.
The reality though is that you won’t just be facing GF. You’ll be beating other people along the way. So, if you are that good, even though you lose to GF 60% of the time, you’ll make up for it against other teams who you beat. Your overall winning % would be above .500 I am sure
You don’t understand, GF isn’t the only top team… once you hit that bracket, all you face are the same top teams, over and over again. Every once in a while you’ll face a mediocre team ranked in the 500’s and you steam roll them.
But for the most part… yes, 80% of the time, you’re fighting the “Good Fights” of the game.
