It’s your bad luck tekfan. My recent farming of wood, had the same random streaks of just 3 logs, and sometimes more. I don’t feel a nerf.

If you think the pvp community is big enough to split with solo que then you’re crazy. The team and solo queues would surpass even 30 min.

unlike axing for tru gw1 RA, or arenas of various sizes, which can not be truly made w/ custom areana ( i kno u can shoe horn them into it, but wi all kno its not rally the same) this concept rally is best left to custom arenas

How would people feel if a future expansion would give Scarlett as a Legend to evoke?
I’d love to a Scarlett Spec that would introduce “Minions” as utilities for the Revenant, giving us access to many of her Clockwork monstrosities.

Perhaps the weapon could be the rifle?

Without more details, I’m going to assume it’s just a story progression thing, and “even the player characters could turn” just means Sylvari players will have “resisting Mordremoth” as a major theme in their stories.

Well, if the guild halls will be anything like the one’s in the original Guild Wars, then they should have the option of having a GvG-like battle. aka Scrimmage. Why they didn’t put the guild halls in when they started the game.. i have no idea O.o seeing as the guild halls were the base settings of the ‘guild wars’

no. You have guild fights, but it wont be guild wars 1 gvg, more like gw 2 gvg.

not rally… it was 4v4 team death match, no respawn, random allies, fights usu ~2-3 mins, queues ~30secs (4 years ago when i still played regularly)

winning team stayed together and re entered queue. after 10 consecutive wins, the team broke apart, but u got bonus rewards (or maybe just moved to team queue which was basically the same, cause u would get steam rolld by any actual team)

since fights were so short (and queues) even if ur team and the match was miserable, it was over fast and u could just go again

i could do that for hours on end w/o getting bored, cuz thur was enough good matches to play thru the bads.

w/ gw2, after 4 terrible fights, i’ve just spent ~ an hour of my life feeling frustrated and not having had fun. the win streaks every other night or 2 just doesn’t make the loss streaks any more bearable

so i jus hotjoin now

My point is that it doesn’t do anything different from conquest except require everybody to be bunker and have one less player. It doesn’t make it worthwhile to waste resources for arena net.

ther used to be 8v8 servers, but people qq that it wasn’t balanced and that people were farming rank points and that it wasn’t really good practice for ranked matches

all of which was prob tru, but i thank every1 forgot about 1 part of the equatun… it was fun

what happen to pvp being fun? id unno, i miss having fun in pvp. not spec w/ large servers, but just in gen, its not all dat fun lik it shuld be

Organized play is another example of the zerg mentality. That’s the primary reason I won’t go to WvW. It’s great for the side with a good team.

I don’t come to GW2 to be a 4v1 target dummy. It’s stupid and it’s not fun to have a guild team against pugs where I’m spending a whole match badly out numbered.

That’s why there are so few people on at night that I often see the same people 3 matches in a row. Newcomers get powerslammned and leave. Solo players like myself get power slammed and wonder why they are wasting there time.

i felt the same way recently. i suggest going back to hotjoin. u’ll be surprised how much more enjoyable it is. most of the fights are against other solo players, so u don’t have to worry as much about that

when u start to notice that your server is getting too lopsided one way or de other, just change servers.

the nice part about not being locked into a terrible unbalanced fight for 10 mins is u can just leave and find a better one

Honestly, the only way I could’ve made it more troll myself is if the elementalist warhorn isn’t an offhand. Surprise! You’ll be bludgeoning your opponents to death with a glorified mainhand club that’s skinned like a warhorn. I’m far too amused to be kitten.

Why would it have to be melee?

I mostly stopped queuing since the feature patch that removed the ability to hotjoin while waiting for the queue pop.

I hate nothing more in games than forced downtime. I’d rather play hotjoin all day than wait 5-8 (+2ish minutes pre-game-time) doing nothing for a match that could be over in under 10 minutes.

agree w/ this kid. 5 min queues, only to end up in a terrible mismatch fight, its a nightmare. so not only do have to have be bored crazy while waiting, i have to have a miserable exp fighting a premade for 10 mins.

15mins of my life to end up frustrated and bored? no thx. i’ll hot join all day.

2. less premades more soloq – an wen i do have to face premade, i just change servers, cuz forgit dat

That would be much better for Symbolic Avenger. A real game-changer of a GM trait, especially since it would do wonders for the Hammer Guard with the Mighty Blow blast finisher.

guards have said for a long time they’d like more access to fire and some water fields.

we already have trait that changes what retal scales off of, so seems like it might not be too crazy to have a trait that changes the field that symbols drop

Am i the only one who has still a problem with the issue, that all our symbols are light fields? At least in PvE it is often the case, where light fields are not liked because nearly everyone wants to have a fire field – especially in fights against world bosses. This reduces also the use of symbolic avenger and of course hammer :-( .

I like the separation of stats from the trait lines – even if it leaves me with an even lower health pool.

As mentioned above shield is really disturbing … a guardian without a shield …. i really hate it – and for a melee based class it shouldn’t have knockback – it’s not really helping. Also already said – sometimes there is no real competition between picking a trait because all the other option are not worth it – even when ICD (also for empowering might … 5s might with 1s ICD … :-( ) are nerfing some traits so much.

This has the potential to set up a ‘requirement’ for dedicated healers, ie, those who sacrifice all damage to enable their allies to live longer and thus deal more damage (to make up for the damage the support cannot provide)

this in turn sets up a situation where people are forced to sacrifice their preferred playstyle in order to make play in any way possible. That’s not good design and i’m glad GW2 has never crossed that line.

Why i would like the healing power stat to be more useful and rewarding to those who choose to invest in it, i don’t think that this suggestion is a step in that direction.

This is so funny to me. That’s like saying:“I want to be a healer in Diablo 3 or CS:GO.”

Notice how both of those games don’t have a holy trinity, hence no dedicated healers. Now take a guess what GW2 doesn’t have.

No one is forcing you to wear zerkers if you want to run a more party support heavy setup. The issue is that it’s just not required and that is based not on stats but how game mechanics work.

I used to love playing a priest in WoW, doesn’t mean I demand GW2 to have dedicated healers. The game is NOT designed around holy trinity.

The influx of players coming from other MMOs not being used to the soft trinity in GW2 (support,control,damage) wanting things changed so they can live in their holy trinity doesn’t help the matter. The game is simply not designed from the very ground up for this setup.

Now if you wanted to discuss GW3 and how anet should return to holy trinity, fine by me. Just accept it is not going to happen in GW2.

EDIT: on topic, water fields are getting used 99% of the time in WvW only. Changing stuff around there will result in 1 thing only (same as in other MMOs):“zerg with most healers wins”. I very much doubt the current WvW crowd will be very pleased.

The effect on PvE would be 0 atm.

we have lots of stats in this game that u can spec gear for

power, ferocity, precision, condi dmg, healing pow, vitality, toughness

the current setup for heals, high base values, low coeffs, means that investing 1k pts in healing pow is not efficient. u are better off putting it in almost any other stat, cuz your incr in healing is negligible. but the lost dps is huge

so how can we make it so the stat is actually useful? condi dmg was largely useless in pve for most of the game. so, anet changed up the math a little. and now it has a better role. i think the argument here is to do something similar for healing power.

i dont’ think every1’s #6 should be reduced to the pt of unhelpful, but if someone invests stats to boost healing pow, that should be something they benefit from

I am uncertain I think what a tutorial can do is limited, this is where we need people to teach and train.

Maybe a training center where Experienced players can help new players. With slight incentives.

its tough to incentivize w/o opening exploits for farming.

i just don’t think epople will watch a vid.

possible update that starting pvp area, the one thru that portal before the main hotm area.

u talk to the npc, u pic a map, it takes u to the map w/ npc baddies. use the dynamic events system to direct the player to diff objectives.

end of the match pops up the reward track, explain it a bit, give them enough reward points to get thru a full lvl (like lvl 1 of the 8 each track have). they get tons of chests, they feel accomplished. they continue to pvp.

its a 1 time per map thing per account. for rewards. can be repeated for people taht think they need to learn moar?

i like to hop around hotjoin until i find a newly starting server. play there. it is significantly more fun than current un/ranked fights.

if autobalance pulls u to a side w/ huge loss incoming, just go to server list and find another server.

But why? Simply ALWAYS volunteer, no matter what, and if you were on the winning team, you now get 100% win bonus + more bonuses on top, and if you were on the losing team, it now will end in a more even and therefore fun game probably.

yeah thats an option too. just sayin, i like the ability to just jump in and start fighting. i can’t stand sitting in the queue, only to have a terribly mis matched fight when it finally pops. that is much more frustrating than any hotjoin match

Ignoring personal attacks, common sense advice and blind assumptions there haven’t been many good points made.

Some of the good points are that reflect is simply a fun mechanic and it would be sad to see it go. Which is a valid point. I’d wager it’s the main reason it’s in the game and the main reason it won’t be removed nor changed.

Another was that the upside to projectiles over other ranged attacks is that projectiles can trigger combo fields. Which is also a fair point. I’d rather have un-reflectable, un-destroyable projectiles any day, but it’s still true.

The majority so far have been against the idea and I assume Anet won’t change this anyway because of the fun factor.

But Reflect should still come with a Reflected tell and maybe Rangers should get access to a trait that allows their projectiles be destroyed whenever they’re reflected. At least it’ll be a choice and a trait investment then. Maybe a mastery in the new mastery system.

Also there has to be a stop attack keyboard shortcut. Since pressing esc often doesn’t work the first time and pressing it too many times will remove the target.

u forgot that it is a counter to range since often times range can be coming at u from 1500… thats a pretty legitimate argument against it

plus the tell that its going to be reflected is usu the gigantic blue wall, or purple line, etc

also i think stow weapon will cancel your attacks

i joined this game for pvp, i love combat of this game but only thing i did for past few weeks is log in, do daily gathering in home instance/crafting; log off…. :|

- too buggy
- too imbalanced
- too slow updates
- ranked are pointless
- qing alone is pointless
- stuck in hotm jumping around same rock to 10th millions time and staring at q timer because nothing else to do :|

10% is pathetic for a grandmaster major trait. It needs to be at least 15%.

Still wouldn’t touch it at 15%(needs to be 20). Hell, even if this was 20% I probably wouldn’t use it due to how difficult it is to make a symbol build in spvp(You’d need Zeal, honor, valor).

Symbols aren’t something you build around, they’re a tool available to weapons with them. Shouts and Meditations are a line and build because of their universality, symbols will never be something more than an area control tool and damage source like any other ability weapons have.

Especially in a game heavily about mobility. You can use them for area control and punishment for fighting in tight spaces, but attempting to center a build around them rather than accepting them as a unique additional mechanic guardians have is, I feel, the wrong way to approach them.

That’s completely false. If this wasn’t the case then we wouldn’t have so many symbol traits to begin with. Due to the lack of soft-cc and any real mobility, symbols are actually counter-intuitive to this games design and thus SHOULD provide a significant damage bonus due to that fact. If it’s nigh-impossible to keep any competent enemy(player) within a specific area(especially with no soft-cc attached) then it should be strong.

I compare this to the ridiculously strong Berserker’s Power to which you have no real limitation and the damage bonus is significant. If anything, due to the nature of how hard it is to use symbols, the damage should have been reversed(10% for them, 20% for us). The whole risk vs. reward deal is completely thrown out the window now.

Edit: You have 4 symbol traits, 1 meditation trait and 1 shout trait….come on.

Why? Because you guys want it to be? What does it fight with for a slot? Are either of the other two GMs even worth considering outside niche builds?

Sure, I want to agree and get a free 10% more damage, but I’m having trouble coming up with a rational for it. “Because it’s a GM” simply doesn’t cut it. Thanks to it and other changes guardians are able to do more damage than ever. As a PVE guard you’re basically guaranteed to want Zeal already with Fiery Wrath and if GS build Zealous Blade, then symbol damage and burns with Symbolic Avenger a delicious cream cheese icing on the top. Sure I’d never turn down getting some sprinkles too making the topping even better, but why do they have to be there? Ok, I’m making myself hungry now, but still, what’s the rational on why it has to be stronger?

becasue if u can actually lock down an opponent in your symbol you should be rewarded. GS symbol last 4 seconds. not a whole lot of uptime on it. if u can lock them down for the full 4 secs, it should be rewarding.

the overall uptime of actually having a symbol down plus locking an enemy in the symbol is tough.

thats why as a gm trait it should be back up to 20% dmg or something add’l.

hop around hotjoin until you find a newly starting server. play there. it is significantly more fun than current un/ranked fights.

if autobalance pulls u to a side w/ huge loss incoming, just go to server list and find another server.

overall you’ll have more time actually playing (hopping around for servers takes less time than waiting on queues), more even fights (less premades), and more fun (at least i have)

w/ the snowball effect from autobalance and leavers, there is some frustration, but in general i’m enjoying it much more

you can’t rally off the lord’s npc’s anymore, which i will miss. it was a fun way of being smart about your attacks and finding a way to fend off multiple players while taking on the lord

Rose tinted glasses huh? People forget the random arena (RA) sync queuing or the fact that RA teams with a monk were alot more likely to go through to team arenas (TA) than any non monk team.

People are also forgetting why TA got completely removed and why getting promoted to TA was a bad thing. They were dominated by smiteway groups to the extent that smiter’s boon got nerfed so hard it coined the term “s-booning” (meaning to nerf something so hard the intent is to effectively stop anyone ever using it).

After smiteway there were 3x perma distortion mindblast/rodgort ele + 1x monk/warrior stance teams that you could never, ever beat in a random group.

There were very good reasons why TA was removed from the game and replaced with the sealed deck codex arena. It isn’t much different to getting farmed by 5 man premades in GW2 ranked queue, except due to the complex skill system in GW1, it was alot worse.

Queuing in GW1 was generally horrible because there were far too many game modes that split the number of concurrent pvp players too many times so you had to wait an eternity to get a gvg. Top 50 gvg teams had to wait over an hour to get a match during off peak times. And half the time it was against a team that wasn’t even ranked. No leaderboard decay ensured that within 2 years, the top 1000 gvg leaderboard was clogged with 90% dead or defunct guilds and smurfs.

Tombs/HA cheated in the sense that if there weren’t enough teams you just skipped straight to scarred earth/courtyard. But Tombs/HA was and will always be a rank farm.

I loved GW1 but queuing and matchmaking in that game was seriously dysfunctional. Its just unbelievable to me how anyone who actually played it within the last 8 years could hold it up as a pillar of design.

I think the OP was referring only to Random Arenas (RA). Which was indeed awesome. The other game modes…well they catered to a much more niche community. Just like in GW2, the overwhelmingly large playerbase just wants a good solo experience.

once again i have to agree w/ bhagwad, hell really is freezing over.

either way, no one said RA was perfect, sure u could game the system w/ queue syncing, but the overall exp i had, was about 30 sec queues, 2-3 min matches, resulting in dozens of matches an evening w/o ever hitting a total losing streak.

lik i says earlier, if u hit a losing streak in gw2 even just 4 matches, thats about an hour, and thats just demoralizing. sur w/ mmr eventually after losing 4 in a row you’ll hit a 4 in a row win streak, but eh i just don’t have as much fun as i did in RA
