they’ll trait glacial heart but it’ll also add slow after the chill ends, and maybe add +20% dmg while chilled/slowed

I believe it should not remove conditions… If you are berserking you have to time to remove condies.. you focus on dealing damage.

Plus removing condition on torch skills is guardian’s advantage, warriors shouldn’t have it…

Blood Reckoning: This heal works on your condition damage as well and you get more healing with crits. 30% of your damage is converted to healing and if you crit it is 50% of the damage. Critical hits also generate an extra adrenaline. Berserker mode will benefit the most from this skill.

its litany of wrath w/o the initial heals but w/ more healing thru dmg. at least its not just an improvement on the skill in the way the torch is an improvement in the way guards wanted for their torch

2-Day Losing Streak...Then Back to Normal

The longest streak I saw was 5. Not as bad as my record of 12
Funny enough, over the past 7 days you had the exact same number of Victories and Defeats (with some forfeits and byes thrown in). There was a suggestion thrown out a while ago to make players on losing streaks be put on the favored team if there is one.

Not a bad idea…I guess when you’re losing, even 5 matches seems like a lot!

10 mins average per match, 1 minute pre match wait, 25 minute queue time, yeah it can seem like a lot.

Well, not 25 mins q time. I get around 3-5 mins….

Still, I did lose a lot. As Evan said, the highest streak was 5 matches, but there were other losing streaks as well. That’s corrected over the past 2-3 days, but it wasn’t fun while it lasted!

Either fight premades or wait 1h+ in queue, pick your poison. Anet cant magically invent more random players playing sPvP.

It’s the other way around. Team q and solo q were merged so that pre-mades didn’t have to wait too long. Solo play wait times are perfectly fine as is.

they can’t inventmore random players, but they could re intro random arenas, which could bring more players.

short queues, solo players, short fights

and if every1 stops playing conquest because RA is moar fun, then maybe conquest was the wrong horse to back.

It’s so blatantly obvious that warrior is their favorite profession and every single time I see Hugh on a stream I want to rip my eyes out. It’s literally “the class I made for myself so I never lose!”

Can’t have everything? “Lol of course I can I’m a warrior”
How do you counter this? -proceeds to completely doge the question and talk about how broken and op warriors are-

Everyone behind warriors is honestly quite a liability for this game’s balance

i’m 100% serious. i haven’t queued up for a match (minus strong hold beta) in ages because the matches are too long + queues are too long + imbalanced fights = 0 fun

wasting an hour in ~3 unbalanced fights is a terrible exp

at least in hotjoin, no queue, less premades, find a better server if fight is imbalanced = less time wasted and some fun

True Shot: To make this ability more rewarding for stopping you in place, we’re looking at further increasing the damage.

What if instead of rooting you in place, it just deals bonus damage if you aren’t moving? That way the player can decide, “Do I want to keep moving and deal less damage, or am I in position I can stop and make a True Shot while standing still thus dealing bonus damage?”

as we’ve mostly all agreed, playing the dragonhunter like a medi guard doesn’t really do much good, mostly negative due to the way virtues are changed, and the longbow doesn’t really offer a lot over scepter focus

i agree about the spear of justice being too slow, though that is not technically a longbow skill.
The biggest issues i have with longbow is that
skill 3 seems very unlikely to be used as intended, because it feels impractical (you have to first see a projectile, then decide to stop it, aim it and fire, then wait for your projectile to travel in that direction).
skill 5’s immobilize seems to come way too late. It would make sense to immobilize the enemies and then having them stand in the rain of arrows. It does not make sense to chase everyone away with a rain of arrows and drop an immobilize on the area you just made sure is empty. This even goes for pve because enemies in the jungle don’t stand still that long (which is great btw).

Apart from these issues it is just a matter of getting the numbers right imho. Overall I would say I like the longbow, the slow but hard hitting flavour of it. It just needs a few changes to make it actually useful.

i’ll agree w/ 3 an 5. but also 3 might work better if it moved as slow as arcing shot or something.that way its nice and slow and can actually protect u

skill #1 literally couldn’t hit a fish in a barrel in pvp
skill #3 can’t be fired behind you and is about as practical as trying to stop a gunman by shooting his bullets with your own bullets in actual application.
skill #4 can’t be fired behind you and takes entirely too long to land.
skill #5 has way too long of a root for the ward effect to take effect in the last shot.

not to mention all the under 500 range “obstructed” errors with all the skills.

I really want to know where Anet is getting these “well received” feedbacks from, happy go lucky PvE streamers that only roleplay and farm silverwastes?

I’m of the opinion that the root on #2 is just fine. it is currently the guardian’s hardest hitting skill, capable of doing more burst damage than even focus 5 or hammer 2.

I’d rather it keep the burst aspect than removing the root at the cost of like a 20% damage nerf.

shhh, don’t give them ideas for guard nerfs, those have a better chance to be read/implemented than actual fixes axed for

First of all, not sure why you would have any interest in dueling in a dungeon, or in WvW — I see that as pointless. Here’s how I’d implement it into the game.

Dueling in PvE:
– available in all maps besides major cities
– not available during personal story/living story missions
– not available in dungeons/fractals

Dueling in WvW:
– not available

Dueling in PvP:
– Available anywhere outside of the main hub
– Revamp HotM so there is a separation between open space and the test golems/AI professions — unavailable in this location (in order to have duelests out of the way and not interrupting players training)
– players would love to see a new HotM, players often love change and progression
– available while waiting in queue for an sPvP match
– there is still the incentive to have dueling servers because it may get tedious to keep challenging people who don’t want to fight, dueling servers will bring many people who want duels together and who aren’t waiting for sPvP matches

Dueling Conditions
– A duel may be requested by right clicking the requested player’s avatar and selecting the Duel option, or through the chat commands /duel player name, or /duel @ while the requested player is selected
– A player participating in a duel may not be challenged to a duel
- A player participating in a duel may not challenge a player to a duel
– All dueling players must be at least Level 31 to participate in a duel (does not apply to PvP)
– Duels do not reward the player with XP or in-game items
– Players may forfeit a duel by typing /forfeit in the chat-box while participating in a duel
– All Duels have a countdown timer of 5 seconds before the duel begins
– A flag is placed in the ground around dueling players to inform other players that a duel is taking place
– All Duels end when either player has been defeated through the downed state
– Once a duel is finished, both players will be revived and restored to 33% HP. If the player has not been defeated by death, their current state will not be affected
– Monsters are not restricted from attacking dueling players in PvE
– Duels are automatically cancelled when either player is attacked by a monster in PvE
– Duels are automatically cancelled when either player has received a message to accept an sPvP match (this will remove the likelihood of players declining matches to finish their duels)
– If a duel is cancelled, both players will remain in their current state

Spot on. Duels working this way would not interfere with people who are somehow offended by their existence, and I can’t imagine that every corner of this mostly empty game world would suddenly flood with raging duelist trolls. Some people seem to believe the inclusion of duels would suddenly quadruple the population, and they would all just be dueling anywhere they tried to go…

Implement dueling thoughtfully and it would work out just fine…Y’know, like dueling has in literally every other major MMO. They all have it. WoW, AoC, Tera, Rift, Ragnarok, Wildstar, Aion, Champions Online, Neverwinter, DC Universe, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Star Wars The Old Republic…Deep breath, passes out, blue in face

Point is…it’s a staple of the industry, now. Not really a good reason to exclude it.

i liked the gs reaper. reposting this from the necro forums. w/ the shouts i started to stack might real well

i only played reaper for about an hour, and i could face tank 6 vet spiders. i dont’ think my guard or revenant could have done this without a lot of work, dodging, running away, returning etc. i think i only dodged like once, and i screwed up the skills alot cause i dont’ know much about necro, basically button mashing

i did this across the entire verdant brink map. as long as you are in combat in shiro stance, the energy regen is greater than the time it takes to dodge + use riposting shadows again.

its essentially perma dodge

I believe at 5 energy per second it should take 7 seconds to replenish the energy for a riposting shadows. That’s about 4 every 30 seconds all things considered. You’re probably better off using the super speed for in combat mobility.

we are talking about escapes also here. and this skill gives you 50 endurance == 1 dodge.

w/o straight spamming the buttons you just dodge, use skill, dodge rinse n repeat. u can walk a hot sec if u really need a touch more energy.

its def brokenly strong

Riposting shadows evade time: 0.75 secs
Dodge evade time: 0.75 secs
Energy recharge time: 7 secs
We’ll say that with vigor (which I don’t recall revenants having access to) you get one additional dodge per 7 seconds

That’s 2.25 seconds every 7 seconds assuming use of no other skill but auto attack (with a little more evade uptime at the beginning of combat).

So, you can give up access to everything else for less than 1/3 uptime on evade.
Not really amazing or anything.

i gave u the skills to use. next beta just do it. i did it literally from the waypt to that wall where the event kept bugging out, dodge, skills, dodge, w/o stopping. it seemed too obv so i didn’t record it. next beta, give it a shot

This is also only backwards and the dodge rolls don’t stop hard CC’s such as Lines of Warding, Unsteady Earth, Static fields and other ground targeted CCs. Also if you switch to Shiro you only have 50 energy meaning 1 Riposting Shadows then you’re stuck if you get CC’d again shortly after.

Lets not compare running through some PvE zone to intense area combat like WvW.

the dailies before this recent version were much better. the progression of daily system has gotten worse in the name of simplification.

1. a short list, but you can complete it almost anywhere in game
2. heres a huge list of options, 1 set for pve, 1 set pvp, 1 set wvw. complete 5 in a set and get daily achevement
3. do any 3 from this limited set of 4 items across 3 game modes.

granted there were minor changes amongst all that, but thats the 3 big changes i remember.

i liked ver 2 the best. you could just play the game how u wanted and prob were able to complete the daily.

the current ver, i say to myself, ‘so i need to do this, this and this to get the daily’ rather than ’i’m going to do X today’ and in the process i prob got 80-100% of the daily

If they change it so it would give the 10% damage to allies as well when attacking people in your symbols, then it would give a whole new meaning to a staff/mace guardian bunker. Zeal might actually be a favorable part of some builds and writ of persistance might become much much more favorable to pure of voice if that was the case.

eww …zergs of guardian GS/hammer symbol builds? wasnt that one of the reason trait got nerfed since was easy to pvd due no limit symbol stacking bug ??? ;P

it got changed because the symbol % dmg was stacking, not because it was sharing.

ie. 10 guards drop symbols @ 10%, everyone in the symbol got 100% dmg incr

that was a prob, what wouldn’t be a prob

10 guards drop any number of symbols @10%, everyone in the symbols get 10% dmg incr, that wouldn’t be a big deal, and like some1 above said, that might actually make the 10% mod worthwhile.

as it is tho, its a challenge to keep that enemy in your symbol for 10% dmg, but these other 4 traits give you 20% perma once the enemy is below 50% health, thats a huge disparity.

i leveled it, then said hey you almost have urs? they sayd, no what do u mean, i sayd, you click to spend the point after it is fully leveled up, they sayd, what are you talking about

another 5 mins of this went on

they sayd, ‘you mean you have to clikc to change it to train the shrooms?? i didn’t kno that.’ i sayd well… how did you think the points would get there? they said, i thought i just finished another mastery level, then i can pick a place to spend the point.

then i played rest of beta solo. was sad and lonely…

No. For one I find it extremely boring to sit in the lobby and wait for a que in ranked or unranked by myself knowing I could likely be fighting a premade group. And no I’m not complaining about premades, I’m okay with them I just don’t fancy the idea of fighting them when I qued alone. Secondly I like hotjoin, it’s more fun to me. I like getting to play matches with the same people and getting a chance to chat, I like the more chill atmosphere, I like instantly being able to join. It’s just more fun to me and I don’t mind getting less reward because I enjoy it more anyways. Leave it like it is, people will play what they want to play lol.

im wit u, hotjoin is much mroe fun than queuing. unless they add RA, i’m sticking w/ hotjoin. i don’ have time to click around hotm in queue w/ my click in my hand bored.

I agree bow 2 projectile speed could be faster, but I don’t agree with everyone wanting the attack rate faster. I love bow and arrow thematically and I hate how games always make them high fire rate like its a machine gun or something so I was pleasantly surprised to see our bow AA on the slower, but harder hitting side.

I would definitely like it to stay that way.

You’ll never go back to a previous division during a season however, so if you’re having a bad streak, there is a limit to how far you can fall.

I’m sorry Grouch, but that sounds like a farm-board to me. Players should drop in divisions if they have been losing really badly, and I think they would accept that fact.

They don’t seem to have re-introduced soloQ, so solo-players will inevitably reach the division ganked by pre-made teams full force…and there you have no chance to win

this is prob correct…

the hope, fo mi at least, is

1. this will bring some more players into pvp,
2. which will up pop to a point where the devs can feel comfy giving soloq back to us,
3. which will bring pop up even moar,
4. which will let them feel comfy giving us gw1 RA,
5. which will make me happy w/ pvp 1ce again.

RA would be the best, but i dont’ think u even need to put them together based on exp. make it totally random, you’ll have good match ups and bad, but is that really ne diff than current matchups? at least RA u would have lower queue times

  • Is there a way to prevent abuse of the mentoring system? (i.e. trolling, trying to get attention etc)
  • We have great players already ingame, a few bad players shouldn’t ruin the system. Since there is no reward associated with this, we are not encouraging any bad behavior.

Seems like you could replace “mentoring” with dueling, and you’d have what i would typically say about why people shouldn’t be so against dueling in the game

the solution is add back soloq, where solo players play solo players, and/or gw1 RA. no mmr, no queue (30 secs back when i used to play gw1), and short matches so the crap ones don’t make u feel like u lost your entire night

0% of my guild use macs. it would be a waste of time n resources. as other games that have made mac clients, its not worth it. they’d be better off trying to make a client that would run on those steamos machines

Hmm. Are you perhaps advising ArenaNet and NCSoft to perform business analysis and decisions specifically on the basis of the composition of your guild? I don’t know your guild, but for the sake of argument shall we assume that there are 2000 active members, none of whom play using a Mac. Based simply on the 3M games that Anet sold in the first year or so, that is a .06% representation of the player base.

Making a blanket statement based on a significantly limited basis of personal experience with no qualifiers tends to undermine the efficacy of those statements. The very fact that there are mac users posting in this thread indicates that your own experience within your guild is not an accurate representation of the overall player base.

I recognize that as a windows user (that IS an assumption since you seem to represent yourself as non-Mac) this is not a significant issue for you. For the rest of us who do use mac, it is something more so. Perhaps you might give that a bit more consideration in the future before asserting that as a collective community we should be entirely written off.

Also today a lot of people have both a mac and pc, so if they made a native mac version some people would prefer to play it on their mac. About 10% of my guild is on mac. Blizzards certainly understood that the mac market was worth the investment, Mac versions of their game run just as well as windows versions.

I didn’t say that I agree with it. In fact I agree that it is a short sighted policy, and not just because it directly impacts me. I was simply conveying my impression of ANET’s response to the situation. By the way I did not say NO USERS, I said Mac gamers are a very small component. If we even hit the 10% mentioned above by Xilllix that is still a relatively small number of players by percent

When managing a business even 1% is a big number, 10% is huge. It’s a misconception to think that the mac user basis is irrelevant or not worth investing towards. Mac is a huge platform of visibility now. Mac store has millions of views per day, if Guild Wars 2 ever wanna go on that chart. Can you imagine how much copies of Civilization V were sold simply because they were the top big-budget Mac selling game for over a year?

Even if its just 5% of a game that sold almost 6 million copies, that’s 300,000 copies, $15,000,000 at retail price.

Anyway if they want to make a native mac version they can just outsource the work to companies that do mac ports. Then its just a matter of making sure it’s profitable.
