i’ll agree. i’ve clicked aroun w/ dis golems, and it is tough to test. at least the log is slightly bettr dan it yoused to be
it will end. the game will close w/in the next year. this is why the studio is merging w/ carbine, and we will all be given accounts in wildstar, which is about to be free 2 play
this is why i think elusive power would be a good trait to include once again in honor. it syncs up w/ the dodging & crits concept the line supports.
Vigorous Precision Gain vigor when you deliver a critical hit.
Selfless Daring The end of your dodge roll heals nearby allies.
Empowering Might You and nearby allies gain might when you land a critical hit.
Purity of Body Your Virtue of Resolve passive effect also regenerates endurance.
edit: purity of body replaced elusive power i think, but it would work w/ it too
u jus hav too bee carfull w/ thos custom arenas. usu a courtyard custom will be setup by a guild and they are just farming the +1’s that enter.
so if u join 1, bee shore u aren’t vs a full premade guild
i support the idea of alliances
perhaps the only way to actually twitch pvp. i can’t stand flipping between 5 channels looking for a match because everyone is currently waiting on queue.
I’ll agree that the adept Honor traits are pretty slim in terms of the pickings and need to be looked at but non-mace users can pick protective reviver which, on its own without any valor/DH trait synergy, is already amazing in terms of support.
my dude i agree with what you’re saying but let me just give you a hypothetical situation with all respect.
you’re in SW trying to do the lanes, would you really use mace? probably, more than likely not so you really wouldn’t need the mace trait. would you stop to revive someone who is fully down at one of the champions and risk failing the event? I mean honestly i would revive them because im a good person but lets say they need 5% more before the boss is dead would you risk losing the boss reviving or would you attack the crap out of the champion? finally… where are you falling from in the final champion assault…?
do you see how only 1 of those 3 traits is even remotely useful? and even then if you are running the Honor line for the shouts the staff buff to support. do you see how the mace trait isnt a good choice in this situation? do you see how falling damage reduction would help you? every other trait line has a trait that helps you in every situation… Honors adepts don’t, they’re all situational. if someone doesn’t die around you in a dungeon (i know its very very rare but im trying to prove a point) how does revival help you in combat? how does reduced falling damage help?
the point im trying to make is Honor needs to be looked at and 1 of those 3 traits needs to be merged or moved in favor of bringing in something that works for any situation. Balancing around the PvP side is fine but like i said before some of these traits just don’t work and aren’t even remotely worth most peoples time (specifically the fall damage trait which i hate seeing in an adept line, im sorry but i think that trait should burn and rot).
Bottom line Honor needs to be looked into and things need to be moved around to make the adept and master lines aren’t great and if these changes shipped tomorrow i dont think Honor would be used, if it was it would be reluctantly and only because shouts are the meta. anyway that’s my two cents.
well said. the traits are too situational and don’t work for someone who isn’t playing in those situations
I’m just gonna bide my time and wait for the PvE tears to start pouring out when DH guards start getting excluded from small PvE group content. This entire trait line is filled with extraordinarily bad ideas.
1. Pure of Sight – incentive to camp range in instanced PvE regardless of the encounter
2. Heavy Light – auto knock back in PvE
3. Hunter’s Fortification – short radius group buff on a class camping range
4. Focus on condi damage in instanced PvE
5. Zealot’s Aggression – reliance on cripple/knock back for melee weapon synergyI’m pretty sure, that once the new wears off of this elite spec, there are going to be some bitter tears on these forums regarding anything not open world in PvE. I can’t even imagine much favor in open world for a spec using knock back on a routine basis. People thought that rangers received a lot of hate for PBS…at least they had to actively use that ability to trigger the knock back…Heavy Light is going to trigger that automatically if the DH isn’t far enough away on any given attack.
I’m sure this will all be a completely different story in a different content type, which probably the entire point of this elite spec design. I just think they should have modeled this more like the reaper or chronomancer elite specs where the specializations actually have strong synergy and cross weapon appeal. The other elite specs open up many more build options than DH does because they don’t funnel you into a specific weapon. The reaper can play any weapon type and not be shafted on traits. The reaper has exactly one trait specific to the GS and it is on a major trait..completely avoidable. The chronomancer is pretty much the same, there is nothing that unavoidably makes me want to avoid other trait lines or specific weapons.
Exactly. DH looks like a spec that is almost entirely worthless without the bow, and even with it the traits have pretty much nothing that complements the base class. I really don’t see how people can think otherwise.
Because not everyone is looking for a Meta dps line.
… winning major fights isn’t really rewarded enough. Wiping the enemy in your lord’s room doesn’t really punish them enough to allow you to mount a strong offensive. While I understand the reasoning for map size and making distance between objectives long, it means that counter-attacks just take too long to develop.
…..
the only part of what u said that is agreeable. u don’t have enough time to counter after wiping them in your lords room.
matches are long enough, i want more fights, not fewer longer ones.
why should my lord run to mid to fight the other one if say, i still had a wall up but had broken down all the enemy walls? they never even got to my lord, but now it doesn’t matter
It’s loooong. Too long. I had two matches literally ending near last minute or two. And quite probably with at least me getting so bored that i stopped acting strategically and just went into a duel thinking “i don’t care who wins or looses, as long as it’s over!”
So you think that a 15 minute game is long?
How long would you like it to be 2-3 minutes?
for stronghold maybe not, but in general yes. i can only play about 3 games in an hour (~5 min queues). that sucks. i want to more fights. what if matchmaking gives u crap teams 3x in a row? then u just wasted an hour of ur life.
Swagger.1459
I never mentioned or implied “1v1”…
I know.
But you mentioned balance. & when we talk about balance, we start with the 1v1’s.
Obvious no?
was looking for this threads troll… and there u are!
just go to metabattle.com or look at the meditation builds
also gw2 don’t support duels, so i wouldn’t research that part too much
Mace symbol + symbol heal trait + vor = healing signet for 6 seconds which can be spammed like crazy mid fight while blocking, dodging and generally not dying and would make denying points really easy. If anything, honor and mace is going to be like dragonhunter and lb.
thats fine an all, but like Zxaviar said, the line should be able to sync w/ more than just mace users. if u aren’t using mace, the adept honor traits are just a waste
i like the timer. won 1, lost 1, yesterday due to the timer. both cases were good matches and enjoyed
shorter matches are better. i want to play as much as possible, win and lose as much as possible. i don’t have 5+ hrs on my hands every day to play. i have 1-2 hrs every once in a while. i want to get as much out of that as i can. thats y i liked RA so much. and y i begin to get bored playing longer matches
Stronghold It´s a bag bag, that map for 24 hours is a lot of. sorry my bag english
don’t know what this is, but i approve
fyi, i just read the tldr
interesting, think of the shield bubble like a big sanctuary, and while allies are in it, remove 1 condi per sec
bubble only lasts like, 4 secs? so total 4 condis? i dunno idea tho
what 45 secs! i’m log at wrong times i s’pose
i think someone in a prev thread suggested merging the honor adepts, falling + reviver, and putting elusive power as the 3rd trait.
its a good idea
Jumping off cliffs for the falling damage symbol. Add the Writ and Avenger traits, boom, Honor Guards will be the new meta.
ah! there’s the synergy. genius
its been said those adept honor traits are weak (fall dmg redux & rez traits) and could be combined, opening a spot for evasive power
+1
Bulwark is about as good as it gets but is dependant on having a mace. Even then healing is more on the “meh” side vs its current counterpart that gives a constant +250.
indeed, right now, either u use honor w/ a mace, or u use honor and accept u are using 1 less adept trait than everyone else
the challenge is convincing yourself the content is worth playing through. can it be done? i axept dis challenge
….
Honor focuses a lot more on defensive capabilities and boon granting. Same thing here with the symbols. Though longer and larger symbol add to more damage those traits still fit with the theme of boon granting: longer symbols have more boon pulses while larger symbols allow for more coverage for allies to get the boons. For the most part we’ve been using it as an additional damage modifier, but thematically it still fits. The healing symbol fits very well in honor as well.
….
someone has said before too that the honor line is missing evasive power trait. it actually has been totally removed, but would be nice to still see included somewhere, even if it was a master or adept to choose from.
its been said those adept honor traits are weak (fall dmg redux & rez traits) and could be combined, opening a spot for evasive power
oftentimes courtyard will begin with a mass of dps. 1-2 people downed on both sides. one side gets a finish/kill → rally rest of that team (ie now its 5 v 4 or better) → wipe remaining 4 → spawn camp as other team trickles members back to the fray.
lots of solutions out there
*do battles in rounds best of 3 or so
*hold off spawns until full team is dead
*prevent rally from kills
the problem is there is no way to actually obtain these recipes anymore. the chest drops isn’t a fair solution because there are other gear in there too, gear that can be crafted from recipes available to players.
they just need to find a way to put the recipes back in game
deathmatch would be better w/o rally off kill. because once the first player is dead, and the other team has all 5 up, its over.
i have not been enjoying it much either.
hopefully the new mode adds some thing back. i used to spend countless hours in RA playing match after match. they were short so it was fun. crap team was over quick and u got to go to another match. good team > move on and fight together again
right now, these matches, even awful ones, just drag on… then u have to wait before playing another one… which can be equally terrible. just not fun
i would like to hear snoop dogg as an announcer.
i will buy this in the gem store. i think he is down w/ dis idea
did haxtester just applaud the banning of hackers? perhaps hackers who test their hax should be banned too?
ANet’s goal: casual-friendly e-sports with little to no developer attention.
According to their past two test leaderboard itterations that’s the complete opposite of what they were going for.
The game has e-sports potential at the core level. But it never had a chance to develop a strong player-base because of the snail’s pace of adding infrastructure (working matchmaking, good leaderboard, reward unification). At the same time, it’s dumbing down the gameplay systems to cater to people who are incapable of learning or thinking. Things like removal of jewels from amulets, forced queue from heart of the mists, “farmboards”, a “PvE race” game mode, etc.
Maybe if they roll back some of the dumbing down, Heart of Thorns will re-invigorate PvP. But it’s unlikely.
They sacrificed pvp experience by adding eye-candy UI and Forcing players to stay in HotM.
- It only pushed players away.
They combined solo and team pvp for simplicity and population control reasons.
- Unfair matchmaking further lowering the pvp experience for many players
They added a grindy leaderboard system as if players loved playing 99 games a day.
- It discouraged players to pvp casually.
They’re not dumbing things down, they’re trying to prioritizing and it’s hurting the pvp experience.
This is the definition of poor infrastructure.Everygame has poor infrastructure. The fact that ArenaNet is trying to improve it is reassuring. The fact that improvements take a year to accomplish, is not.

nope. once xpac drops, people who don’t buy it will be blocked from log in. must purch to play. thats why they say they are addin mastery to old zones. the whole game will be buy to play again. i think this was reported in ncsoft report the other day. they are also adding wildstar to the purch. so buy gw2 xpac, get wildstar. wildstar devs are actually in the process of moving to anet offices.
its been mentioned before, but the honor line is also missing elusive power in HoT. it was a decent trait for those who wanted to get some dps advantage to sync w/ the other on dodge traits.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/LA-Statue-Area-Arena/first#post5082508
The area with the sand is already set up with a confined area + a gate, and on the opposite side of the piazza is an area that could be turned into the exact same thing.
i guess u just came here to troll, just like ur post suggests other people would w/ a dueling system. u didn’t even try to read the thread, all of the ~5 posts was too much for u.
because this guy already covered ur trolling, saying it should be an option u simply have disabled if u don’t want to duel
….. But yeah, in case you dont want to get spammed by fanboys wanting to duel with you there should be a function disabling duelling. ( like the dance thingy or smth, so people can see if you’re up for duelling).
trolls will be trolls. i can’t keep u from trolling threads (or a duel system). its something that is going to happen, but saying no one should have the ability to comment in threads (or duel in game) because there are going to be trolls isn’t fair to the people who want to have constructive conversations in forums (or duel because they like it/are bored in hotm/whatever)
RA ftw, no doubt about it
what wasthe original gw2 class announcement orders. i think i remember mez being last, but don’t remember the rest
And your spec will be named.
Swordmaster.
Great Sword Master
edit: ahh perhaps Greatswordmaster
i said this about 2v2, 3v3 etc arenas, applies here too
Don’t want to do it, because it could split an already small pvp player base into two smaller groups. also, there are complaints that it would screw up balancing the current conquest setup.
1. just implement it, don’t worry about balance, let people play what they want to play.
2. if people like it, it could bring in more players – which is what everyone would like. the top players are going to play where more players are
3. if everyone moves to it and it becomes more popular than conquest , then maybe conquest was the wrong system to be the primary focus of pvp.
4. profitalso, RA dont need any algorithm to match up anything. its random. RA. queue times were in the seconds, 30s i remember being normal.
also, too short of fights? that was part of the enjoyment. ur team sux, no prob fights are over fast, and since queues are short, next time might be better, at least u arent clickin around HotM with ur click in your hand bored. an win u got a good team, sweet u stayed a team for another round.
downside? i don’t see it, at least not for a normal joe player like i
What makes you think the fights will be short? Were you ever in a fight in GW1 where one player would run around in circles indefinitely until his res cool down reset? I would imagine some of the fights in this game would be infinitely worse since some of the classes can reset fights at will. In a small skirmish setting, it’s very hard to take down someone who doesn’t want to fight or feel the need to guard something.
If implemented, you’ll see the posts complaining that a group of four thieves only come out of stealth to gank one person and disappear again. Just jump on to WvW and you always see someone say something like “&%$# thief! Why can’t he just stay and fight? I’ll stomp him if he does.”
1. some1 said the fights would go way too fast, so i was commenting on that, but u need to read the thread to notice these little things.
2. trolls are going to troll. u can’t avoid it completely. u dont need to live ur life/play a game/make decisions based on potential trolls. ‘no1 should be able to use credit cards, did u no people can just steal credit cards by walking past u, cash only for everyone’. do u thiink website articles/youtube vids shouldn’t have comments because a troll can post? maybe forums should only be poster threads, no comments. did u no that a troll can just try to derail a whole thread by posting an irrational comment?
3. we are talking about RA. so random. so if a 4 man thief team is randomly made and is unbeatable, they will have their 10 wins, and disband. if RA turns into every1 plays theif, eventually no one will play it, it will disappear, and the harm is what? u will still have conquest. i dont think i said every1 now must play RA
i said this about 2v2, 3v3 etc arenas, applies here too

there was bleed and more access to cripple
A deflecting shot hits another deflecting shot?
both shots cancel each other out?
the shots create a /dividebyzero implosion?
create a beam struggle like in DBZ?
i support this, and would like to think it would be a beam struggle. both guards must begin to shout too “AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”
So, basicly tons of people who need to hide behind 19 others want their “game mode” to be called pvp. Most of wich are lovers of gw1, doge2hard, manly man dem big fights in which i listen to some dude yelling “hammerstun”. What this thread is doing in spvp, pls?
u took the bait… read the thread, its been done to death.
summary:
these big guilds want a place to play their game mode. the final equitable solution was an instance of obsidian sanctum that they can queue up 20v20 matches. possibly as a custom arena style thing.
to A your Q, it was in HoT thread, was moved here when it became clear it didn’t belong there, but had no where else to go either. it is technically pvp afterall
they just nerfed turrents. so there’s that. i’m w/ whoever, we’ll prob wait until HoT for another balance/shift of metas
doesn’t make sense for them to be working on balancing the current build + HoT. balance HoT and we just gonna hve to wait
i don’t think there are that many uses, and i don’t think it’d be used that often.
w/ dat said, no reason not to do it. they are all, already instances.
they should just include an npc in the guild halls that lets you do it. ofcourse, it shouldn’t count towards the achievements (theres the neg i was looking for…)
they only need to import them guild wars 1 random arena annihilation maps over to guild wars 2 and then it would be awesome.
but no, they never listen to me.

An interesting thought from Reddit “This makes sense if the theory of Braham picking up Eirs longbow, being the first Dragon Hunter, following his Ranger of a mothers footsteps. In a way, it brings Rangers and Guardians closer together.”
So if that is true, then longbow + traps makes sense. And the name would be because Braham is now focused on taking out Mordremoth and the other dragons.
Is this in the final cinematic or something? Where does Braham pick up Eir’s longbow? I’ve played Season 2 all episodes and don’t recall Braham grabbing a longbow.
Are all specialization names coming from the story? Is thief specialization gonna be “Eggsnatcher”?
they are speculating, it doesn’t/hasn’t happened
