Oh heck no… It’s bad enough I live real life from a first camera perspective, I like seeing what’s coming up behind me in the game, lol.
They did, it was called the Paragon in GW 1, they decided they didn’t want it here…
yet another useless topic about mounts.
Arenanet has said: We are NOT putting mounts in the game, otherwise you can fly over content which is meant to be played. deal with it and move on.Otherwise you can do the train runs in Qeensdale [Vale waypoint][Phinney waypoint][Krytan waypoint] and ignore all events which are meant to be played
Having a flying mount will be way cooler then the WP system
The Champ Trains are optional gameplay and everyone knows it… People know by doing the Champ Train, they would get nothing else done otherwise, but they still chose to do it.
Flying on an eagle over Genddarin Fields, avoiding any game play antics whatsoever, flying your sorry but down to Malchor’s Leap at lvl 13 on a BIRD is not quite what ANet has in mind.
Champ Farming is still something that gains the players exp and loot, it is just an alternative to stopping Bandits from attacking the ranch.

Character selection screen is no different in GW 2 than it is in GW 1… I’m getting mighty annoyed at people comparing this game to another.
and I am getting annoyed by people not seeing the forest for the trees.
Touche, my friend.
Would be cool, but I know already that if they were to be added it’d be on gem store sadly.
I doubt that. They know they would get laughed at at the TP Screen Advertisement:
“Rez in Style! Prove to everyone that our player programming is not mediocre!
Resurrection movements -
500 gems! (Soulbound on acquire)
Click and press Confirm to purchase!"
I’d hate to think that’s the junk we paid Arena Net for.
so you basicly want a ranger?
Nah I just think he wants his mindless junks of flesh to not attack everything they see and get him soda and chips when he commands…
What a lovely idea! It would give us some eye candy to look at while Rezzing someone…
and… I hate comparing one game to another but, as I remember in FFXI, ressing, the dead person would over off the ground in a lifeless manner and slowly animate back into the living phase. (It was quite a pleasure to watch for me, at least…)
So, give the person reviving some interesting action, than playing in the dirt and give the corpse evidence of the resurrection, other than… sleeping until alive again.
Character selection screen is no different in GW 2 than it is in GW 1… I’m getting mighty annoyed at people comparing this game to another.
Always viewed the Necro minions are Lesser definition of intelligence. They follow the commands of their maker, sure, but you still have a big lump of mindless smelly flesh fighting for you?
As the Asura so gracious cries out in creation: “Arise, my brainless, arise!”
If they do not have the gift of common sense, then how how can one wish them to stop attacking and return or… not attack at all per their maker’s beck and call?
I was just wondering why in the Mists weapon-set do they not have a bow of any kind or staff? There’s one of everything else…
Don’t get it…
I’m on Sea Of Sorrows, lmao. I think I see 1 of them out of every 20 players I see in my screen and it’s like: Oh, dear Lord…
You know, the more comparison I see people make between WoW and GW 2, my eye begins to twitch even more.
I haven’t played WoW so I won’t even compare, however, I did play Everquest and there were mounts in that game and it taught me one thing and one thing only about Mounts:
While great in many ways, and horrible in others, the people programmed mounts into EQ and made them INSANELY expensive. While they did that, Mounts also unofficially became an icon for players who had the means to get one and then rubbed it into all the faces of the players who couldn’t afford them.
Mounts in GW 2? It would be nothing more than a novelty. What logical reason would there be for the use of a Mount in a game that has instant travel?
Oh God no, don’t so that! It’s bad enough I see Quaggan Back Slot covers, making everyone look as if: “Weee!! I’m starting first grade today!”
thud
I didn’t feel as if you did lessen my suggestion with being tickled pink by one part of my issue, lmao… Yep, it’s hella-funny, and if I was not the one it was happening to, I’d be in stitches too, but… over-all… to set a status to invisible implies… just that: Complete Stealth.
Complete Stealth is something we do not have if your Guild Roster screen is giving away your online endeavors.
I just figured that it was never an issue in GW 1, and with this game, and the fact that it is still relatively new… that a couple programming quirks still exist.
Well, on that token, should I spill my heartbreak over the fact that I played EQ for 7 years, terribly miss my Cleric and suggest to ANet that they need to reinstate the Monk profession?
(rolls eyes)
Every game is different, luv… Miss druids that much then go back to WoW
Oh, heck, honey, chuckle away, but while you’re giggling over there, this is NOT a person I can rightfully give the finger to and add to my block-list, if you catch my drift.
Honestly, though, my mother is not the only person I dodge in this way, I have MS irl, I often do not feel well at certain moments in every month, this is not these people’s fault that I do not feel well, I just wanna play my game in silence, being left ALONE… I am trying to make my suggestion for the greater-good of all parties.
(The more personal implications of the request is just an added bonus… cough )
LOL… Eh, um… no, not per say… But ya know, Moms were not so enamored with us when we were children as we are now adults. My Mom plays this game, I’m 34… and ya know… for the 15 phone calls a day I get from her, the whisper messages are 3 times the amount of phone calls. I love my Mom but um… yeah…
Anyone else hear the toilet just flush on the outrageous prices of those Black Lion’s exchanged weapons? lmao
I apologize in advance if this sounds like I am whining or crying in anyway, but, uh…
Let’s start off with GWs 1. Set your visibility to offline, no one ever knew you were online incognito.
GWs 2, set your status to invisible, BUT…m if attentive enough, open up your G key, view the guild in which you’re in. It’ll state that you are offline however, if you move from one zone to another or go into a story line quest, the Guild Roster reveals that, making it so your not-so-brain-dead guild mates, friends or family, should they have been clued into this fact, would know that you ARE actually online.
I have a couple of people in this game I care for deeply, one of them is a relative of mine. When I am not in the mood to be bothered in anyway, I save myself and them the aggravation and set my status to invisible, but… a couple people are all to aware that though invisible, the game still reveals you switching zones or instances.
I am thinking it is not to unreasonable a suggestion that I offer that perhaps you guys at ANet can address this issue and keep our preferred online statuses at the discretion of the us players?
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
I totally agree with this. Although, it is the fault of the players on how much gold it takes to convert to gems, I find the cross-exchange to be ridiculous on a great many levels.
I am pretty sure players would have no problem buying/converting gold to gems for keys if the exchange was more even to that of work entailed to even get the keys.
(personally, my husband and I downright refuse to even buy keys for chest around the holidays, cause the last thing we want to see drop out of that chest is a darn tick or treat bag. I’m almost positive that no one wants to spend 10 dollars for 800 gems, just to open up trick or treat bags… come on now.)
Hi there, my ANet friends!
Ya know, it’s not hard for me to wonder this, and I also wonder how many others wondered the same…
The Permanent Tools ~ Soulbound on use.
Okay, I didn’t think twice on that one when I bought and equipped them, but… what happens if/when I tire of a character and want to delete it?
toilet flushes I see 2,400 gems that I paid for go swirling down the not-so-mystic toilet… Bit unfair don’t you think? This is the primary reason why I have 13 character slots, since 9 of those slots are permanently glued there by way of the permanent tools.
I get why you had them soulbound, I speculated that you didn’t want people only buying ONE set and them share them between toons, but… Ya know, there are a couple characters I’d like to recycle yet can’t because they hold the permanent tools.
sniffs Kinda unfair, don’t you think?
So I thought, well, why not put a stipulation on the tools, that they can only be traded to another character just once, allowing us to recycle toons if we so choose?

I have the hardest time understanding what my Sylvari Necromancer is saying during the course of my playtime with her.
Some of it, I know. But her voice volume seems to be phased out if the battle music is too loud.
“Arise, my creation, arise…” I hear quite a bit but… almost everything else, I’m like leaning closer to my speaker to try and hear what she says.
Can anyone help me with this? What are the quotes a female Sylvari necro says during game play?
Let me add this by also saying that….
Out of everyone in my world, the world around me, my husband, my Mom, most of my friends who play GW 2, just like in GW 1, they often came to be with their questions about any one given thing in the game process because I had:
1. Already done it.
2. Did it to the point where I was skilled and knowledgeable enough in the topic to teach it to others
3. And just overall, used what I know to help others through their game.
This is what I do, I’m 34 yrs old, I’m also disabled and I use Guild Wars to help keep me distracted from how bad real life sucks at times…
I’m also tremendously selfless and I do what I do because should anyone in this game that I care about not understand something or… needs something that they can not learn or attain on their own, I feel the urge to want to help, so with that having been said, I just seem to instinctively do things in MY game to have myself prepared. I’m not much… “use” in the real world so to speak, because of my health, so I tend to want to make myself… above and beyond useful in this silly little MMO we play.
Is that so wrong?
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
My disappointment comes also from a fact that it seems that for about a year players are being treated as idiots. Horizontal progression – here, grind for xxx hours to get one unnecessary weapon. Or – here, have invasions to feel like you’re participating in something grandiose and important – which, in reality, was just farm without purpose (apart from having a lot of materials and gold which isn’t needed).
Every new dungeon is gone, every piece of story content is gone.
Now, many people will get their ascended weapons, which count as nothing.
Don’t feel bad if you’re behind the crowd.
You won’t get crushed at least when new “cool” things are released
I’m still waiting for real changes to the world that will provide lasting gameplay, other than being wagon of the zerg train going from one champ to another while meeting no challenge at all.
Maybe underneath there are a lot of changes, but what we actually get is a crappy modification, no good change. If I may ask – why did you spent your gold? Why did you wanted to create ascended weapon? I someday maybe will start creating it. But not before I’ll meet a boss that will require me to wield it.
LOL, Amen to your opinion, sir!
I spent my money as I said earlier in my post, I was completely unprepared for the theme, meaning I have next to nothing material-wise to work with.
I only remember thinking (at the time) that I wanna hit 450… Lemme hit 450, so I can unlock the T7 so I can at least see what it is I would be dealing with… Well… honey, I got to 457 when all was said and done and when I saw that I can only created one f the new ores ONCE every 24 hours – I was like – Son of a &$%@!!!!!! and walked away from the Weaponsmith, gave my computer the finger and then started dinner that night…
Well you can transmute the weapon skins so you are not stuck with the looks of it once you obtain one. As far as the money issue, I hope this doesn’t come across as rude but you really have no one to blame for that but yourself to be quite honest. It’s just like running out and buying a brand new computer, tv, stereo etc etc when it’s first released. I do feel your disappointment for this patch however, though mine simply comes from having to do all of this to get back to being BiS gear it just seems rather unnecessary to have the gear even in the game since it’s nothing other than a gimmick to keep people playing that don’t understand what horizontal progression is.
Np, honey, you’re not being rude, and you are completely within your bound as well as being absolutely correct that myself alone is to blame for my money loss in my first attempt to Ascended Weapons Making.
Yet, I often fear that you, yes YOU – Arena Net – will pull a fast one on all us little players, the ones who decide not to do such themes by, at some point in the future, introduce something in the permanent story line that would have made Weapon Ascension a key prerequisite to whatever future content that YOU may have in mind.
(My mind never stop running, and I often think such thoughts fairly often)
If anything like that should ever happen… I do not envy the look on your faces when your product hits rock bottom.
I just consider this update to be one that increases the blood pressure and will leave a few more gray hairs on our heads…
ANet, I thought you said that this game would have no mass grinding…. cause if that’s what you said, then what the heck is up with that Ascended Weapon Update?
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
Hi folks,
First off, let me apologize should the following post come off as if I am whining and crying and having a temper tantrum, as that is not what I am intending for this post, but um….
I had high hopes for this update, I did, as did many other have, I am sure. But come Tuesday, Sept 3rd… a couple things happened upon the update launch.
This is nothing new, price gouging on the trading post, and yes, I was completely unprepared for what items were to be needed for this ascended crafting, but the fact that I ended up seeing the piece of Ancient Wood sky-rocket to over 1g per piece was…. simply pathetic, when just days before hand, it was being sold for 93c per piece.
I ended up searing through 150 of my own gold within 20 minutes time, and yes, I have friends who often tell me upon updates, never buy anything right off the bat, but to wait, but usually I have tunnel vision and forget such advice. Within 20 mins time, I was only able to jump from 400 to 439 Weaponsmith, and I was outted quite a bit of money. I was practically in tears to where my husband came in the room, rubbed my shoulders and convinced me to shut down the game for the time being.
Then today I find my first picture of what these weapons are intended to look like? I’m not impressed. That and I was in conversations with a few people who stated that ArenaNet intervened on price gouging on the trading post and reset prices. I don’t know how true that is or not but… on the topic of unfairness, I know it is Human Nature to want to make a buck and yes, it happened to be that I have several hundred gold saved, but… does that mean I have to spend every penny of it on someone else’s need to become to Donald Trump of Tyria? I don’t think so. And what about to many other players that have nowhere near that amount of money to be doing such crafting? What? We suppose to tell the: Suck to be you, go out farm yourself to wealthy status them come back and go bankrupt while attempting to make weapons that… are a tad less than your standard eye-candy? That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?
Am I just being a child about this or… do I have a few valid points?
I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter
Thanks, guys!
~ Jaymee
Hi Hi guys,
It’s Jamie, yet again, this time I come forth with a gripe from my husband, whom… will never post on this forum himself, which, is actually fine, I was curious about this too, so… here we go.
Black Lion Trading Weapon’s Specialist is still offer to trade up for items from… the Four Winds Theme, Dragon Festival Theme, etc etc etc.
Now, I was under the impression that – Theme over, items gone, nothing left to trade.
But why do the Merchant still offer those trades?
I was thinking it was one of 2 things:
1. ANet didn’t delete the Merchant yet.
2. The items, i.e., the Scraps from the Four Winds Theme is still available, you just have to get it from a different source.
So I wondered, many of us probably still have a couple white scraps left, and I thought… Mystic Forge?
Much like what one can do with the Crystalline Dust to get a pile of Crystalline Dust, is it at all possible to retrieve more scraps from the Forge?
(This would make the hubby happy, he’s been whining about wanting another Helm off the Four Winds Theme.)
It’s not an MS only topic, it clearly says “vision” in the thread title. I just want to know why the circles are appearing underground for me.
This WAS a topic about how I have MS and the difficulty it renders me with Liadri. The Forum Moderator merged MY thread with another thread because the two topics are generalized around the same issue.
The thing is, Anet can’t make everyone happy. I’m sorry you suffer from a disability, but please don’t ask for a hard and challenging content addition to be made easier simply because you want the mini.
I want the mini too, and I keep failing in the Liadri fight. I’m not disabled. I’m just impatient, and know exactly what I need to do in the fight. Problem is, I panic as I’m fully focused on the boss, and once the red circles pop, I tend to dodge too early.
This content will stay hard, and will only be completed by a small percentage of the player population, disability or not.
~sighs~ I know, but it would have been nice to have an honest shot at me having that Mini, but you’re right, Penguin.
Don’t feel bad, I’m also a MS sufferer and struggle at some areas of this game (actually I am very good at jumping puzzles). But overall this game has really helped my side effects so I can’t say this game is terrible for me. My doctor has praised how much my ability has gone up in the past year. Even though I’ve always played video games.
Sometimes you got to accept that they won’t always make things that we can do so well in games.. But I think we can still beat Liadri, just takes some effort, probably more then most people. Don’t give up though, if you really want it.
Good luck if you continue trying.
Oh wow! If anything this game as certainly giving me something to focus on other than my rendering condition. However, I suck at JPs, big time, I just… can’t… my hands, my anxiety, everything. I have actually given myself a fever once, when I tried to do Fractals the first time. Never again.
Now I’m a good player, a kitten good player, 6,473 APs and I refuse to flaunt it, but I refuse to be told I suck at it.
However, with Liadri…. there is just something incredibly wrong with that woman.
I don’t even know what she is, she seems to be a cross between a Necro and a Mesmer.
Anet, you can’t do this to me, this confuses me, and I was already born confused.
Katreyn, feel free to contact me in game!
Honestly I understand all opinions that have been laid down here on the table, but… come on.
The Jubilee Mini vs Liadri Mini? I got the little robot… and it sucks in comparison to Liadri…
If anything I look at that Liadri fight and think to myself this is Anet’s way of saying: “Now, Jamie, if you didn’t suck so bad as a player due to your MS, you just might have this little precious gem of a Mini.”
CRINGE!
Why do I think I have to pay my BBF’s husband 20 gold to run this dang fight…? GGGGRRRR
You make a fair point.
I don’t mean to sound like a jerk when I say that when someone is handicapped, there are necessarily going to be things in life that are harder or even near-impossible for them to accomplish. It’s not a pleasant fact, it’s not even a fair fact, but it’s still the truth.
Is there a solution for it? Well, not always. Naturally they can’t create content with every disability in mind. If they did, then it wouldn’t even be content for people without those disabilities.
Also, not that I’m endorsing this at all cough but you could always ask a friend to help you by doing the fight if you really want the mini that badly. But I’m not suggesting that at all because it’s against the rules. Just sayin’. cough
(Also are you on JQ? That writing seems familiar)
Nope, I’m on SoS
Hi there ANet People,
I have a question.
So, I’m Jamie, 34/F/Philadelphia and I have Multiple Sclerosis irl.
How am I suppose to have coffee with Liadri The Concealing, when my hands don’t move fast enough, and her shadows have killed me 5 minutes before I realize I’m even dead?
I would really much love to have her Mini, I would, but I have tried and tried and tried to kill her multiple times and I can never even get far enough to throw the first Light Crystal. sniffs
I hate to sound like a child about this but, um…tad unfair, maybe?
