Ugh… Taxes by Law – aka… people wanting money they don’t deserve. Pfffttt. If I thought that 6% tax on 10 dollars on gems would get my street paved, I’d shut up about it, but…
Anyone know what the deal is on us paying taxes when buying gems? I remember this happened a couple years ago too, then it stopped, now it’s back?
Why?
So, the response from ANET has bothered me enough that instead of trying to get a refund for the extras tools and salvage-o-matics. I decided to request a refund for the “Shared Inventory Slots” item.
I can’t justify spending 2800 gems for the QoL improvement that make my previous purchase of almost 10,000 gems worthless.
Sorry ANET, I just can’t support this.
That’s the way to go.
Awwww.. I’m sorry Papry… I wish they didn’t have their so-called “stances” and refusals on refunds for this… It’s a shame you couldn’t enjoy this
As for refunds: if you’ve had these account-bound items for ages, we won’t be doing refunds because you’ve already derived substantial benefit. If, however, you bought them more recently, we’re doing refunds on a case-by-case basis.
I got a surprising definition of “ages” from Customer Support – or should I rather say Customer Repellent?
Some Other GMAs the previous GM said, we are not able to refund your items because you bought them years ago. We are able to give refunds if the item was purchased within 24 hours. Sometimes a little later depending on the case. I Know you do not want to see this answer but we cannot grant your request for a refund.
Anet: I really hope you change your views of “customer friendlyness”. You don’t lose anything on refunding Gems. The only thing you lose is valuable customers if you don’t refund in cases like this.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. It’s not like Anet has to credit our Visa cards on this.
The Tools, well, fortunately for both Anet and us costumers, they are still usable. They will forever be of use to our accounts, though now, anyone that bought the Shared Inventory Slots technically doesn’t need them if they are able to share it with all other characters.
However… The Terrace Scrolls, Airship Passes, to those who bought the Shared slots, if they own multiples, it is now USELESS. Trash, all but one is needed to be put in a shared slot. ArenaNet, I am a devout supporter to this game, but this… to say you won’t give refunds on these items, which are now useless, then on top of it tell us to simply delete them? After my husband spent 100 dollars to get 8000 Gems to purchase them, and myself 50 dollars to have 4 scrolls… telling us we they can’t be refunded is… very shallow. I’m sorry to say.
So, we want our gems back, for something that now utterly has no purpose. Is that really so unreasonable?
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
700 gems per slot is completely crazily overpriced!
300 gems would be kind of fair.
700 gems, for 1 slot that makes an item available to ALL characters on the account,,, overpriced?
My husband and I bought the 5 slots, each, and the price didn’t even phase us… Spent 35 dollars for gems to get that convenience on your account is NOT a lot of money and hardly would I consider it to be overpriced. I can promise you, it’s likely that over 50% of this game’s population has spent a lot more money for a lot less (myself included)
You either buy it, or you don’t. Period.
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
Is there any chance we could have the option to return some of our Copper-Fed Salvage-O-Matic items we have previously purchased?
With the shared slots, I just put one Copper-Fed Salvage-O-Matic in the shared slots and suddenly my other purchases of the item are now useless.
Previously you haven’t released any gem-store items that make previous purchases completely obsolete and useless.
I feel sorry for people who bought more than one airship pass too.
<~~~~ 4 Terrace Scrolls here. My husband has 6 Scrolls. We feel your pain.
Hey! My husband has an idea (he’s at work now but on the phone with me, lol), he purposes that if we are not allowed to receive refunds for the tools/terrace scroll/airship passes… then at the very least, make it so we can give our extra stock of these, now useless, items to our alt accounts?
I understand not everyone has more than one GW 2 account, but I have 5 accounts, my husband had 3 accounts. (I’m a disabled housewife, I get bored… shrugs )
Honestly, I don’t think this would fly very well, as I am telling my husband right now that, unless you have saved all your game account tech information, such as… your serial numbers, there’s no hardcore proof that we can show Anet that we are the justified owners of these accounts. However, if there were a way… would it be so unreasonable to drop our extra scrolls and passes to our alternate accounts that don’t have them, perhaps?
(I know this isn’t gonna fly, I know, but… husband offered up this as a suggestion. You see?! The man’s at work and he’s still fuming off of the game now learning his items are useless after buying the 5 Inventory Slots. Anet… we simple Pennsy folk can’t handle such anxiety, lol)
First I thought it was a shared bag slot, and I was hyped about storing ascended trinkets there so I could swap them between chars. Then I realised it was a line of 5 slots, massive let down but I thought 5 shared items was still worth the gem price. Then I realised from this thread that you only get 1 item slot per purchase. Lol……..
And all permanent bank contracts have now inevitably been flipped by TP barons and are out of reach of 99% of players. Great…….
ANET you would do everyone a favor including yourselves if you just put the permanent bank contact on the TP for 1000 gems or whatever, it would make buying this single shared slot worth it. As it stands I won’t be touching this one and I’ve spent ALOT of cash on gems (look at my account history if you don’t believe me).
Hear! Hear! I agree, and that was the first thing my husband went looking for after the update.
Really you can select anything on the ticket form and your ticket will get to the right person eventually. In this case, I would suggest “In-game Issue” and then “Trading Post/Gem Store problem.”
As for refunds: if you’ve had these account-bound items for ages, we won’t be doing refunds because you’ve already derived substantial benefit. If, however, you bought them more recently, we’re doing refunds on a case-by-case basis.
For the sake of Permanent Tools in question, I’ll acknowledge this. However, I have 4 Terrace Scrolls. My husband has 6 of them on his main account. Are you telling me that refunds on those will not be made available cause we bought them…1 to 2 years ago? If so, I can’t say I agree much to this. We have both bought the 5 Shared Inventory Slots, you just made all but one of those scrolls useless to us. Can we at least get the refunds on those regardless of the time in which it was purchased?
Yeah that area is cool. I actually found it back when we first opened the guild hall. You can actually get to it without the snow. You just head over to where the guild teleported is and before you go down the steps to it jump to the left and hop up. It’s a bit zig zaggy but you get there. It’s an awesome area. What I want to figure out is how to get to the area that is closed off to the top right of the map which is just beyond what you found there.
Yep, I know what area you mean, husband and I spent 3 hours and TONS of snow piles trying to figure that one out, but… apparently, we’re not meant to be there, not even by accident
It’s almost like the Northern half of the map has been inaccessible, so the snow steps I formed took me up and over that wall, and on the other side is a very well developed, very beautiful looking place! It looks like it maybe meant for something that… we aren’t allowed to access at the point but may be allowed to have access to in the future
Now, I am not dumb enough to think for one minute that I am the only person who may have found this or even posted a thread about this but… since I can’t find any forum evidence of either, here goes nothing.
Day before yesterday, I was bored, waiting around for reset so I can go farm my flax, ya know, so I was in my guild hall just fooling around. I went to the tip top of my Arena and I glided off and had a thought. Gee, could I get up here?
So I bought me a whole bunch of snowflakes and got crafty and it… ultimately lead me to the screenshots I have provided before you all, below.
Next day I show my husband this and we got to talking as we both agreed, this area is far too developed, far too GORGEOUS that it wasn’t meant to be used for anything, and there is no easy passage way that we found to get to this spot so…
My husband and I speculated that… what IF… Anet is intended this part of the guild hall to be used for future guild hall upgrades in the future?
What do you all think?
(P.S., Anet, if this was not meant to be found and because I and possibly others have shared this and you, ya know, make it impossible for us to reach this again, I’m… gonna be… very sad.)

Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, I’m an idiot for putting my hand back in the fire!
You said it, my friend. I totally agree. They totally spoiled the elitist player in this game with their first xpac, which would otherwise be fine, but… if they continued on that course… I wouldn’t invest in it either.
I feel that GW 1… is pretty complete as far as the storyline goes, but GW 2, to me, is very much incomplete. I feel, and many would agree that there is still so many cliffhangers in GW 2 right now that it would be irresponsible to abandon GW 2 to work on a GW 3
I posted this already under heart of thorns and got no replies, I been trying to find out for hours now what is up with this, please help, for anyone who knows?
I need some help guys.
As you can see, I am in my Arena, I just finished the ability to put walls up, and talked to the Coordinator, he puts me in the Arena, as you can see in the picture, the walls are in the Arena Inventory, but it will not allow me to place them in the arena itself.
What am I doing wrong? Please don’t tell me I had to first build the walls through Scribe to be able to put them in here or… I’m punch something (sobs)
I would look at my own icon as well and then slap myself for spending that much money, lol
I got up to 49/50 Scribe and… walked. Just to get up to 49, I had spent 400g to get there on the road to try and figure out what’s what?
You can keep your Scribe, Anet. No thanks.

I’ve done the puzzle about 40-50 times now, and I have carpel tunnel, and arthritis.
Stop complaining and actually learn it
Thank you very much for not paying to a word of what most of us are truly complaining about.
ArenaNet will be selling the shoulders for a couple of gems in a very short time.
Oh my! Where did you learn this information???
(P.S., I… kinda figured Anet didn’t give a crap but… it was still worth a try, right?)
This jumping puzzle is fairly easy to learn honestly.
And… it’s comments like these that I loathe. Honestly.
I’m glad it’s fairly easy for you to learn, but… that’s you, get it?
I don’t vote for the removal of the JP as a requirement, just modify the requirement of it.
Right now, you have to “complete” it 3 times in order for it to count towards those shoulders.
Can we just modify that to, we have to take part in 3 rounds, rather than complete it? Cause that, at the very least, give those of us who have problems completing it, it would give us credit that we tried at least?
I think it’s a kitten sham this JP is apart of the shoulder’s quest. I have MS irl, diagnosed 10 years ago, and… it’s killed some mobility in my hands and it’s greatly reduced my response time.
Therefore, I cannot even get past 10 snowflakes before they melt and fall. I have been trying this for going on 4 hours straight today, 3 hours yesterday and am I meant to believe that Cannot have these shoulders because I’m handicapped irl? Seriously?
I’m beginning to lose a LOT a faith in Anet lately. I’m beginning to not even want to log in somedays with all the things “required” to do something to get what I want.
I am all for challenging content, but this is… unreasaonable. I’m sorry.
The problem isn’t that you want to play a tank build. The problem is that you’re expecting people to take you when they’re currently looking for DPS. Maybe you’ll find a group looking for a tank and you can play your guardian with them. But if you wanna get in raids you should be flexible and play multiple roles.
No, I am not “expecting” anything actually, and I’m pretty dang flexible
The “problem” as you put it is that there are more players than not demanding “15k+ APs Fully Ascended Berserker Gear, to be PINGED to the squad leader before he even admits you into the party.” THAT’S the problem.
That to me is going passed being an Elite and going straight to Elitist Mode. The moment these start adding specie restriction to the mix, they’ll have graduated cracking whips.
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
Well, I am not a tank, per se, at least I don’t think I am… that’s what some friends just say is all.
I like to play alone, I play alone 98% of my time, and in playing alone, when I have a reputable Toughness count and anywhere from 29,000 to 32,000, it ensures that if anything, I have good odds of coming out of my battles alive. That works for me, I’m fine with that, I don’t care that it takes me a bit longer to kill something.
But say, with my Guardian, same set up, she has 30,000 health but also a healing rate that when I do, say Grenth or Lyssa, Dwayna or whatever, it is repaid by the amount of people thanking me for keeping them alive, so… how would this not be an asset to the new Metas? Sure, I don’t deal out the damage but I do protect and heal you… isn’t that a benefit to everyone?
I may not be a Death Dealer, but to me, I am making sure that my fellow death dealer stays alive long enough to… deal death… shrugs
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
15k+ AP
LOL!!!
My husband and I set up identical twins. He is running Beserker weapons, yep, but… yeah
Husband’s toon – Aranda has 26,000 health
My toon – Amara: Fully Ascended Exotic gear, jewelry, weapons – 16,000 health
We both go into a fight, I must have died about 20 times MORE than he did before that fight was achieved. Ridiculous.
This is simply bugging me, it is.
I am not one to run the Berserker build, I don’t like it, I have tried it many times in the last 3+ years and it just doesn’t mesh with me. Yet it never hindered my gameplay until… now… seemingly.
I run a tank build, so does my husband. If not Tank then Condition. This is my choice. This choice never seemed to affect how I far I got into the game until the release of the Raids.
It seems almost impossible for me to get into a raid party. I see people starting up Raid parties with the following demands:
15k+ AP, full set of Ascended Berserker Gear, that MUST be pinged to squad leader before he even CONSIDERS you to be apart of the party.
This to me is… absurd, I’m sorry.
Tangled Depths Meta. I still have yet to learn this event, and I WANT to, yet just the other night, no one doing it would take me in their squad because I wasn’t running berserker.
Listen, I understand completely why this build is strongly coveted, but… but not everyone can run that build successfully.
Is it really fair to punish those of us who are not Berserkers? Heck, even me and my husband last night set up out alternate account to have a Beserker Reverent. I ran her and kept dying left and right left and right, left and right…
Listen, playing the game of “Let’s see who dies first” may be for for you, but it isn’t to me. I’m allowed to partake in these events too, ya know. And I am hitting a point now where I am beginning to not even want to play at all cause people won’t let me join the events.
Don’t punish me…
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
This is not a nasty post, not one that complains of anything…
Yet, Avatar being one of my favorite films, I can’t help but draw very close similarities between Avatar and Heart of Thorns.
Both have -
Insanely vertical terrains
Floating bedrock
Illuminate Plant life.
Gliding is questionable to the flying of the Ikran, but… I see a parallel.
Can’t help but think that you pulled inspiration from the film when designing this expansion? Hehehe…
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
Am I suppose to just go in to the ley line strand and let it carry me… or… it seems, cause I’m trying for a Mastery point now, it seems as if I have to steer it at times. That if I don’t steer it, I glide out of the ley line. Or is it because I am steering that I glide out of the ley line?
I just finished off my guardian, she is 100% DragonHunter now, yay me, but, I am having huge trouble with a couple of things
First and most importantly; Spear of Justice.
This Virtue confuses me, what is Tether? what does that mean and what am I suppose to be doing with it. I use it, I see the chain, sure, but I have no clue what it’s doing
Secondly: I wish I could word this better for you all, but, alas, I cannot.
The original F1 2 and 3 on the Virtues, I loved them, they were great and I was a HUGE believer in them. Now they all change when equipping Dragonhunter and I wonder which one is better to use, Virtues or Dragonhunter.
I have already received complaints not to lay any wells, but rather shouts instead.
I haven’t gotten the bow mechanics down pat yet and it’ll be a long time before I do, so I just stopped using the kitten thing for now.
I’m so confused.
Can you imagine, if you would for a moment, what it must be like to be immortal? Especially exalted? They don’t eat, don’t sleep…
Up to this point, they have just been… existing and just a brief thought I had, what would it be like to be one of them?
Once human, with all the luxuries that come with that. Eating, sleeping… or just simply RESTING.
I imagined just now that to be Exalted would be like… the cosmos hit the PAUSE button on my entire existence and I am forever just… hovering about…
Yeah, I’m sorry, I would probably wanna shoot myself at some point. they could at least offer them ice cream or… something…
Okay, while I am aware this is all knew and for that reason alone, I should know better than to ask but…
Okay… there are many times where I jump with intent on gliding.
50% of the time, I jump and the glider comes out automatically. I don’t have to touch anything.
50% of the time, I jump and immediately fall, having to hit my spacebar in order to glide.
I don’t get it. But I am thinking, MAYBE, the distance of the fall may pay a bar in it, higher the fall, glider comes out automatically? Is anyone else experiencing this?
Okay, so… Husband and I with the help of several friends claimed our guild hall last night.
I LOVE it, seriously, totally, and 100% honestly.
However… and I know a lot of posts were made about this before, during and after the launch of the expansion… the crap concerning the favor.
While I truly understand this, I have a few objections here.
When influence was in full swing, Anet you let us small, pitiful guilds by pass that by allowing us to increase our influence by way of buying drink.
Now that that is gone, and my husband and I did extensive research on this, there is no way to increase our Favor unless we do guild mission. Okay, I dig that, but our guild is a 2-person establishment and would be seemingly impossible for us to go on guild mission with just the two of us.
It is just the two of us, we WANT it this way, this guild of our is just meant for my husband and I. Now we have a guild hall… that is OUR little place for just us… Yet now we can’t build anything as we lack the favor, yet we cannot increase our favor, no matter how long that may take us to do… because we cannot go on guild missions or treks or bounties and succeed with just two people.
Husband and I would keep buying gems out the wazoo if we could buy our favor… and we would be one of your top gem patron, Anet… if that option was available, but it’s not and now my husband and I after all the work we did to get Gilded Hallows, now have to see in age old ruin… that will remain an age old ruin cause we can’t dress it up.
Am I being unreasonable? Cause if I am, I apologize.
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
we’re gonna have some FUN tomorrow, lmao
I seen this on GW 2 Girls FB page yesterday!
Thanks for traumatizing me, never write the number “2” anywhere near the word “girls”.
Bah, get over yourself, lmao
he banned a troll, wow, news worthy….
Dude, lmao, watch that again and pay attention…
He banned Colin Johanson the GW 2 BIG boss… lol
I seen this on GW 2 Girls FB page yesterday!
Oh man, I laughed my butt off so bad at this.
Nice going, Doc.. LOL
I predict that… first place everyone is gonna go upon launch is the Guild Hall headquarters..
Then many computers, including mine, are going to freeze and the client will shut down along with…
“New Build available in 10 minutes.”
lmao
While I think guild halls will reduce the demand for the it, I believe the pass (both consumable and perm) was available during the anniversary sale.
Nah, not the Perma Terrrace scroll, my husband and I were hunting that down like hawks during the sale. They never reposted them They reposted the Airship Perma Pass, not the Terrace.
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
Why 9 separate accounts? Just why?
lmao, believe me you are not the first person to ask that question.
I won’t get all snippy and say – It’s none of your business. Instead, I’ll stay just 2 thing.
1. Why not?
2. Ascended crafting matts for selling
(and I’ll add)
3. More Laurels, Char slots and T6 matts
4. I’m a disabled housewife suffering with Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Sclerosis. GW 2 is one sure fire way of passing my time and diverting my attention from the depression of reality.
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
I have made posts in the past involving the re-releasing of the Terrace Scroll for sale.
My husband and I, with 9 accounts between us, and only 3 of those accounts total own Terrace Scrolls, we were 99% certain they were going to be up for sale during the 21-day Anniversary sale yet they never came.
My husband and I avidly discussed this and came up with the following theory:
They may not bring back the Terrace Scroll because with the dawn of Guild Halls we won’t need them?
Any thoughts on this theory?
2 years ago, seeing a male Sylvari wielding a Volcanus… lmao…
LOL, I’m sorry…
Just not I had this vision pop in my head day the expansion launches that I will walk into HoT and find… Candy Corn Nodes that… I might wanna think twice about mining cause it is poisoned with Mordremoth corruption…
Like it would be all green and smoky and.. gross… (not too far off from the original version) since I always thought candy corn was gross anyway, LOL
Anyhoo, on the 23rd, are we to expect finding Candy Corn in HoT? lmao… Like, Rich veins of it you have to glide to? lmao…
sorry, can’t stop laughing.
[quote=5609105;TheLastNobody.8319:
I think another thing they are trying to do is increase he incentive to craft rather than just grind and buy what you want off the TP, judging by the dungeon reward nerfs and moving that gold to fractals, which is and of itself a gold sink because of ascended materials. [/quote]
Which is funny to me as I am the type of player who does more crafting than battlefield fighting
Anything at vendor price. If you buy something at vendor price the only way it can go is up. Most you can lose is 15% exchange fee. Since John Smith specifically said he wanted to fix broken markets it is likely that at least some of the things that have been sitting at vendor value for years will see a fix.
Um, by this, are you telling me that in the case of the commonly known expensive item: The Charged Lodestone is now “fixed”?
Oh and why Thick leather sections and Small Fangs bounced up in price?
These are the “fixes”? Is that what you mean?
(in a way make sense, since Ascended armor, we learned Anet has a habit of making otherwise useless items extremely valuable in a blink… Silk cough)
I’m not trying to be rude, I’m just trying to understand the methods behind Anet’s madness
(edited by Jaymee.1560)
15 chests. 0 keys.
Okay, I just noticed this last night and it threw me off.
About 95% of all items on the TP are taking hikes in price. So I asked why, and mapchat said speculation of inflation because of HoT. Okay, cool, but… T2 mats? Uhhh?
Not quite sure I understand why Charged Cores and Charged Lodes, basically anything charged is sinking in price faster than a brick.
And then one person told me they believe that Ancient wood is to be used in Guild Hall construction, hence the massive price hike on that.
Yet the price on Ecto is staying pretty much steady, as is Ori.
So my question, should I devote my time to farming Ancient wood for whatever my purposes for it may be?
I use to have a famous intuition for the game market but anet effectively killed that with the dawn of Ascended weapons. Only to get worse with Ascended armor…
We have 9 days and in 9 day, I want to do something… I want to gather. But I am not sure what I should gather… Just once I would like to use what time I have to my advantage and gather items that will be valuable with the dawn on this expansion.
Help?
I have played every Beta, I loved the DragonHunter I do, but what worries me is:
Pre-HoT:
F1 – Virtue of Justice
F2 – Virtue of Resolve
F3 – Virtue of Courage
Beta-HoT
The virtues all changed.
My question:
Post-HoT, are the original skills of F1, F2 and F3, are they going to forever change to the new Virtue skills or can I still use the old ones if I wish? Cause if not, it’s gonna throw my gameplay off something fierce.
