For a while there, allied quaggans would take out siege in the corresponding keep. This seems to have improved in recent weeks, but it was a terrible bug that made siege a money sink. They still, on occasion do take out siege. Allied or not. I think it’s being investigated now.

Theory 1..I would (if I were to back up this theory) assume that they had multiple thieves who can throw down refuge in a cycle. My question to you: did you or anyone see the house thingy pop up? (that would be from a thief) if there wasn’t one present, and the dead were still rezzing, I would have no idea.

If I am being nit picky, however, how would you be able to run after someone who’s stealthed? You can’t see them so how can you run after them? ..blahblah neither here nor there.

Yeah, I kinda knew revive orbs couldn’t be used but threw it out as an option. Who knows what some people figure out can work.

About the house….yes we did see a house pop up but only a split second before the dead guys fully rezzed. It wasn’t there the whole time they were rezzing.

And as far as running after them….yes, you’re right we couldn’t see them but we could see where our damage numbers were falling and we kept running to those. Didn’t take too long to down them since we were throwing a LOT of AOE.

You wouldn’t see damage numbers on the thief unless you had only your combat window open.

It is a really weird thing what happened. I use a thief, and the refuge does have a pretty lengthy cool down (even with proper traits), and to constantly stealth like that is…odd.

Thieves just make sure they die in NPC’s in the keep (supply camp usually), they just keep using Cloak and Dagger to stay stealthed and then when Refuge is up they get like 1 15s stealth (with blinding powder and heal) and just rez bit by bit.

Its annoying as hell, especially with clipping making stealth even worse than it already is.

What kind of stupidity is letting people stealth while in combat or at least not having a cooldown on it.

Point… It’s extremely annoying. Haha yes, coming from a thief, I find the perma stealth extremely annoying. I don’t use refuge in WvW, and the main method of stealth for me is my heal and stealing from another thief. But even with CnD/refuge, you can’t keep rezzing a dead player when a zerg has chased you out of a tower…still strange to me.

Well unless the zerg is completely missing you with its aoe.

It’s the one I’m working towards(eventually). At about 38,000 out of 100,000, and I’m an extremely avid siege person(not farming flame rams at a camp either).

Every supply run is .01% towards the title’s 5th tier. It’ll be a while until I finish it. Maybe June or so. And even then that’s not the final tier.

No not at that yet … and yeah every piece of siege I’ve built has been for practical use. Even the rams I’ve placed have been to knock on a few doors

I got the master of disaster achievement in under a month (yes I build siege 24/7) …. Was disappointed I didn’t get that actual title.

Can’t use revive orbs in WvW.

My guess is they had a very spry thief following them around.

If they were hacking, I doubt they’d even bother with the rez process.

On TC /m chat is for your everyday talks. /t is where people bark out commands. It’s unavoidable but it’s pretty acceptable in our map to ignore the commands as long as you’re doing something useful. A lot of the camp cap, monsters cap, scouting, and defense repair/setup are done by individuals doing their own thing.

I wouldn’t put it as barking out commands. Most commanders I come across are just stating what they are doing so the other commanders can also plan thier moves. Most times I just see a “we are heading to Hills” or “We need to get Garrison sieged up” or “need help at xxx”, etc.

Yeah I very rarely see anyone bark anything …. Most times it’s just requests for help.

Not sure what impression you’ve gotten from fighting TC this week, but our map chat is usually always pleasant, often plain goofy, and we have small groups that go out daily and get up to mischief.

I didn’t transfer; I started on TC and am going to stay here regardless of whether the server is T1 or T8.

I have a strong background in competetive PvP in GW1, SC and CS, but don’t have the time or interest anymore to spend hours everyday dedicating myself to just PvP and dealing with the bad attitudes which often go along with it. I still enjoy PvP and do my best, but with whatever I have, not worrying about my game time, gear, who I’m playing with or against.

And I like roleplay. I don’t call myself a roleplayer, but anything that adds more immersion to the world we play in is awesome to me. Having RPers around brings a flavor to the world which enriches my in-game time, even if I never roleplay myself.

Just yesterday – I hung out with some TC PvPers in WvW as we held off repeated attacks on Speldan from a much bigger SBI force and took the fight to SoR with a bunch of others after getting curb-stomped by then in EB.

I also ran into an initiation ceremony in the middle of nowhere in the world, players who I happened to do a dynamic event with tried to strike up a friendly banter with me in-character, someone I cheered during a different event sent me cookies and pie to say thank you, even though I never talked to them.

TC is a server that’s perfect for me. There are and will be severs with more hardcore guilds, better point margins and ratings than TC, but the mix of enthusiasm for WvW and the flavors players bring to my experience out of WvW are very very dear to me. I wouldn’t leave this server for my significant other if they were playing and wanted to move.

While I know that everyone who PvPs on TC doesn’t do it with my perspective, I bet a lot do.

I do have a hunch that PvPers on TC are ‘long-haul’ players. I bet this server continues to punch far above its ‘roleplayer’ reputation in PvP for a long time to come.

I’m with Columba on this. At the very least it’ll cost people to spy. Perhaps that will curtail it a tiny bit if they have to cough out real money each time to do so.

Took this screen after I restarted due to the infamous audio glitch that gives you the lovely beeping sound. Lots of fun on EB/SBI BL, been really enjoyable playing against SoR/TC

delete your local.dat file in your GW2 folder .. documents>gw2.

Then let the game reload the file. It’s supposed to be your UI file only, but it grows daily. After a period of time it gets too big and becomes corrupted apparently. If it’s bigger than 15mb, that’s your culprit. Deleting it fixes the sound bug, but you’ll have to go readjust your settings once you log back in.

Sorry, I disagree with the OP. I think adding pve elements to WvW will only encourage those pve’rs to give WvW a try. Many are intimidated by the idea of WvW only because they haven’t tried it yet. This could be a key step into getting them more involved.

Indeed, we need oceanic players and I believe there are one or two guilds that are active, but if not, we have plenty of WvW guilds that would gladly have you aboard. Just enter map and shout in /team that you’re looking for a WvW guild.

No we’ve had a treb at that spot, and have had enemies do the same and it’s killable. Unless of course there’s some glitch on his server particularly … hrm .. maybe that then? If so he should indicate his server.

I also have a hard time buying that SoR would intentionally throw a match as most of their guys are packed with server pride, but I guess there could have been a small faction that was quietly trying to make it happen.

I just wanted to say that this post was awesome. Incredibly accurate and well written. And since it was written by an SBI player, I hope people will give it credence.

Anyway, good luck SBI/SOR/TC in your match-up. Sounds like you all are having a blast with the more balanced T2.

It’s ok, in the end you guys got what you wanted and moved up a tier, there’s no hard feelings because it’s what you needed to do to get there. But life has a way of showing you different viewpoints, given enough time, and what you’re experiencing in T1 right now is what we saw when we entered Tier 2.

There is a big difference between two dominating servers coordinating against the weaker ( What was described in an earlier post on SoS/JQ/SBI) compared to three servers fighting off each other and trying to capitalise on opportunities (BG/SoR/TC).

BG and SoR never ever cooperated to beat down TC. We were always fighting on two fronts. If the map looked like we were dominating TC borderland while BG borderland remained green it was only because BG were better defenders, they truly were a challenge on their BL and SoR also retreated to our BL each night and defended it to the last.

In reality, when it looked like you were getting teamed up on it was generally in retaliation from TC attempting to get a foothold and getting repelled. I can’t count how many times we started to push BGs corner in EB only to find TC trying to capitalise and invade Umber/Durios/Bravost. We would then return the favour by pushing you back and having those fun Pangloss battles.

That would be all fair and well … And completely logical if we didn’t see aberrations on our own BL …. Like SoR players escorting and defending BG yaks into newly claimed keeps …. Or witnessing three BG players WITH two SoR players go cap a supply camp and turn it green, all over the map. There were numerous events like this on our BL …. It was typically credited to SoR wanting BG to move up a tier … And none of us were ever angry about it, most times it just made us chuckle or scratch our heads.

I understand there’s some sensitivity right now given current challenges, but what happened to us on TC only helped us to learn and grow and get better. Perhaps this will happen for BG too.

Even if SBI wins the match (or even future matches) you’ll probably have them for at least a few more weeks. This week, BG will likely gain rating even if they take third, and SBI will lose rating even they win. You can thank the rating system, but I think you’re safe from those nasty BG guys for a good 3 or 4 weeks. Oh wait, I’m one of those nasty BG guys!

Aw I didn’t mean it that way. It was just that getting nightcapped every night was getting a little tiring. If all things were equal, I’d love to see you guys back in this tier, but as it stands now, it’s pretty lopsided and makes for some not fun WvW for everyone involved, even you guys.

The term was given to us from Blackgate as a sign of respect for our tenacity. Win or lose, we keep coming to fight.

If they allowed unlimited maps, might as well put on a blindfold and give you a tail to pin on a donkey, the culling would amount to you swiping at the air and hoping you hit something.

I just did the math on what I’ve spent on upgrades, siege, etc …. In the two months or so that I’ve been WvWing I spend easily 5g a day, seven days a week (today i spent 18 gold, but thats not the norm) …… So about 300 gold, donated out of pocket, gladly, to help my server. I’m not alone spending that much either. I think the resentment likely comes from folks who donate that much day after day, week after week, and someone else is unwilling donate what amounts to a few silver to help support the community effort.

Nobody is obligated to help or do anything in WvW, so while I’m a litte put off at the idea of selling and not donating, I can also appreciate that other people view it differently. It really is a matter of scruples, I suppose.

well that’s because you’re deleting the wrong file silly.

The file to delete to fix this is local.dat … it’s located in your documents>gw2 folder … and I promise you it will fix it.

I tried that and your promise is rendered broken. Had fun redoing some of my config options for a while, so perhaps you’ve won 1 Internet Trolling Point.

In the first zerg vs zerg fight I was in I had the woo00ooow000oo audio bug, which makes WvW unplayable which cuts the value of this game in half (at least).

Oh gosh no. Not trolling. This fix has worked for me and many many others. Not quite sure why it didn’t help you and the two others above, maybe a hardware issue or Realtek audio drivers not updated?

We have them on Tarnished Coast, but they’re on other servers too. Nice folks, fight just as hard as you do in WvW. I believe most take their tags off tho because people mistake them for GMs and hound them with questions/complaints.
