this really is something that needs to be worked on, if i hit someone with a hammer, i would feel that my hammer impacted the person, this would be no different if the person would or could be invisible. is there any future plans to change this?
Oh I didn’t mean to turn this into yet another thief griping thread, so lets drop it, I doubt the good folks from anet who have responded here have any kind of control over that aspect of the game. I’d just like this thread to be respectful enough to them that they return and continue this discourse, because I believe we’re all benefitting from it greatly. (I don’t mean to imply you were being disrespectful, you weren’t).
Would love it if the daily required a player having to repair something every day to get the daily completion reward. Might bring more into WvW, plus doesn’t waste supply, and actually helps the server. Just one repair run with a stack of 10 supply would be enough.
Lol we had a thief spend an hour making our wp contested …. He kept invising, and given how tough this class is to kill, changing the timer on the wp to make it contested longer will only be abused/exploited. At least with the way it is now, players get a millisecond to port in and help when this kind if thing us being done. Its a very very narrow window. We finally got the thief, but it took four of us (slippery bugger) …. And he only wound up coming back again. If you’re going to extend the timer on contested, it’s only fair you make a thief lose invis if he takes damage
Wanted to thank you guys for taking the time to answer questions …. This ends so much speculation and frustration knowing details as well as knowing you guys are investigating things that aren’t working/are bugged.
I was a strictly pver player most of the past ten years I’ve been playing mmos. What you’ve created here has made me fall in love with WvW, something that truly surprises me. This part of your game is really a gem to be treasured.
If you’re considering a server move, I highly recommend trying Tarnished Coast this week. We’ve recently been matched with SBI and SoR (second week with them), in one of the best match ups I’ve seen yet in WvW … All three servers are NA based, so there’s no uneven night capping. It makes for an exciting match where all parties feel like they have the manpower to fight. And what fights! Simply spectacular. Best ongoing WvW combat out there right now without any lopsided servers.
So if you want to try tier two, come on out and help fight for TC! See you soon!
Remarkable matchup, it finally feels like everyone has some footing, making the game that much more enjoyable. The fights have been unbelievable and both our enemies have some stellar techniques. Kudos!
You asked if Anet would give any direct answers. I posted they did. I misread your original post, TRUE, answers. I play a ton of WvW3 and have plenty of experience the awkwardness of seige despawn rates. That was the point of my post. That is the answer. I dnt think they will spend anymore time on it.
As Mike said, we’re aware that there’s an issue and we’re looking into it but we don’t have a solid repro in our test/dev environment which makes it much more difficult to debug. That said, we do have some ideas about how we might proceed so we at least have some ideas to try out and test. One thing I’d like to see, for example, is a visible indicator of how much time is left before the siege despawns. That will make it easier for everyone to know the state of the siege and it should help us eliminate some false positives from the bug reports (siege got destroyed/used when the reporting playing wasn’t looking, etc.) which should, in turn, help us hone in on the specific bug that’s happening. And while we’re in there adding a timer we’ll also spend some time robustifying (it’s a word!) the system. There’s no timeline on these changes yet but we are working on it.
Many people in WvW devote countless hours and hundreds of gold to the cause.. whether it be with upgrades or siege weapons.. And they do it without the expectation of being reimbursed. Half the time they don’t even get recognized for their work. These are the people (a small portion of the population) who are the driving force in winning a match. More often than not they are commanders.
When those players see you trying to sell siege weapons instead of donating them to commanders or putting them down yourself, they’re going to call you out on it. They’ll accuse you of taking up a spot in WvW to do jumping puzzles and “make gold” instead of contributing to the war effort. And there’s nothing you can do to stop that.
Go into your documents>GW2 folder and look at your local.dat file. If it’s bigger than 15mb, delete it and let the game reload it.
This is supposed to be your UI settings file, but it grows daily and over time gets too big and becomes corrupted for some reason. Deleting it fixes the sound bug.
You will have to reset all your settings again, but until a final fix is put in by Anet, this will correct it for you.
The problem with alliance is the inability to have 100% compliance. Somebody’s always going to ignore it, then the other side will misinterpret and it just kind of dominoes.
As for that thief, yes report him … But as the person above said, don’t let your outrage over an exploit lead you out and make you a target. Instead sit in your invulnerable area, be patient, and kill him

Crazy crazy culling tonight in TCBL. But man what fights! lol .. first SBI, then SoR sneaking in behind them, then SBI, then SoR … over and over … was wondering why SoR kept running around inside for, it was quite odd seeing you guys hit the room, then run up the stairs, then down the stairs again, lol.
And Setch, I can pretty much guarantee if he wound up outside it was a complete accident, our folks don’t exploit .. and if they do we bash them over the head with a mallet.
It does, but you’re still going to spend 10 minutes running around hills checking all the siege to find the right one .. but I suppose reticking it all while there would help as well. Personally it would frustrate me to do the needle in a haystack thing, but that’s me.
While I think that’s a great idea, only issue with that is which piece of siege in about 30 other pieces .. it narrows it down a ton, but still a scavenger hunt in the end.
Edited to add: personally I would love to be able to mouseover siege, like you do spells, and see the expiry timer on it.

The only issue I see with this is we already have folks who have bought the commander icon “just to have it” and don’t really use it for anything other than a status symbol. Worse still, we have commanders who pop into WvW maps and have no clue what they’re doing, often leading people to their deaths (thankfully folks learn quickly not to follow them). Doing this will likely lead to an invasion of blue icons on a map and that can seriously cause issues with WvW strategy and gaming.
I do agree that longterm commanders, ones who are out there every day doing stuff for their server and putting up with all kinds of nonsense deserve something, but I’m not sure this is the way to go about it without having disastrous fallout.
Every morning when I’m on TCBL you guys are like clockwork. I look at my watch and say “oh there’s tajz, I see the Thai guild tag” … Don’t know what I’ll do with myself next week without getting whapped over the head by you each morning

14. Trebs will be used for sending the opposing team big bright boxes of cookies. And there is absolutely no way these cookies will really be trojan horses .. nope, nosiree. *whistles
15. If a map is owned by one team entirely they will be forced into doing the choreography from the broadway show A Chorus Line. No matter where they are or what they’re doing, they’ll suddenly be manically dancing on map for the next 10 minutes. (One, singular sensation, every little step we take …. )
The issue with this is that 90% of players don’t place siege .. it’s always the same 10% (commanders, loyal wvw players) who are doing it .. and going broke. It’s nice not to be expected to do it all the time, but you often will not see any siege put down at all if it isn’t done by the regulars.

I thought at first you held the same affinity for animals as I do, and my heart softened a little. Until you started beating the poor animal over the head with a mallet, I might have said yes. Well, currently Kaineng is on its way up to the top althought it may be boring for a few weeks as you completely obliterate the other two servers.
Blackgates overnight crew is amazing and we could always use more help during NA primetime.

No hard feelings towards TC. I love TC’s community and love the guild I was in (PiNK).
I am just a competitive person. BG is in a much better position than TC is regarding transfers. TC is a near full server needing A LOT more overnight coverage. BG is a near full server just needing more people during NA primetime. Which one is likely to fill their coverage? I just didn’t see whole guilds risk transferring to a near full server such as TC for overnight coveage, and that is what you guys need.

To the two SoR players helping BG take Longview on TCBL this morning .. well that was interesting. It was also puzzling why the BG guys didn’t take you out either. Must be a mutual admiration society!
Friend was having this same issue .. try doing a repair on your exe file.
On desktop, make a copy of your GW2 icon.
On the copied icon, right click properties and add -repair to the end of the exe file, so it’d look like this gw2.exe -repair.
Make sure there’s a single space between the exe and the small dash.
Run the repair gw2 icon.
Hope that helps.

Yes, I have a guildie from Australia who’s been crashing and getting disconnected so frequently he’s given up trying to log in. Would be a shame to lose him as he’s a valuable player … this only started about a week ago. Has Anet done anything different to code recently to cause this?
I have another guildie from the U.S. who crashes a lot, too .. so it’s not just restricted to Australia area.
Getting to a spot you have to jump to will often deaggro the mobs, too. They don’t seem to like to climb well in most cases … Some will still chase you. Useful for when you’re running to a poi with a million undead on your heels.
And you don’t have to jump high … Just up the side of a cliff, or onto a tree trunk, etc…
