I didn’t realize you’d abandoned WvW for EoTM.

Here’s what I’m currently struggling with:

There’s a new expansion. There’s like five different things to take my attention.

I wanted to level up a new rev class, spent a day doing that. Then realized I probably should be working on my elite specs on my main. Got sidetracked at the guild hall registry place for an hour, then went “oh crap, just wasted an hour” and headed off to the elite grind. Then I wanted to peek at the new borderlands, and ran around there for another 45 minutes looking at all the new stuff — testing out the new siege thing (OMG!).

Then I finally got myself back to the elite progress and realized I’d wasted half a day already.

I haven’t even touched the halloween event.

And I rationalize that while I’m a dedicated WvWer (it’s mostly where I am in game every day), that WvW will still be there in a day or week or so, and I can get this other stuff done first and come back to my beloved game mode.

So yep, that’s why I’m not in map. And why 30+ dedicated WvWers in my friends list aren’t either.

There’s just too many choices all at once.

It’ll settle down and pops will be back. Hang in there.

Yes I think folks need to think of how disastrous other expansion launches have been in other games. Anet does this really well.

Yeah, from my end Asura newbie land was busy all the time I was on (EU prime onward — I made a rev). But 30+ of my regular WvW buddies were all in Maguuma grinding.

Why can’t you find fights? The map literally tells you where other roamers are.

… which also means people know where not to run to avoid people. Most “roamers” run away from fights rather than to them, unless they know they can gank targets without loosing.

They really want every single aspect of this game to be a ridiculous grind, it seems. Didn’t realize this was a Korean MMORPG.

Actually I think by them nerfing EOTM rewards it puts WvW more “on par” with rewards then how it was prior HoT patch.

Maybe they didn’t want everyone using EOTM as a train for badges, wxp, exp, badges, karma, and loot, instead of playing wvw completely.

Heaven forbid they raise the WvW rewards to match EotM, rather than nerf EotM to make it just as pointless as WvW…

People are grinding their elites. All the wvw regulars (30+) on my friends list were doing that today instead of wvw.

Regular time that usually happens, except on Saturday.

Also for toggle, but I like them, they kind of act like a scout broadcast.

Do the new gliders work in WvW? That may be the “shortcut.”

Reset isn’t even until later today. People are likely not playing because of reasons mentioned already in this thread, or the fact that the current matchup doesn’t count for squat.

Maybe the maps are currently empty because: Guilds grinding to get arena/hall; players grinding up elite points; players levelling up the new class?

I’m afraid to log in now, lol.

New players can create their own unique identity by learning wvw mechanics, bolstering up an open server, instead of relying on an already winning server to carry them.

Who knows? Your new server could rise and kick out a current T1 server. Because of population caps, that’s now a possibility.

But how would the maps “go EoTM”? We already know its going to real WvW, ie take and defend stuff for tick. Its not going to be instanced. Everything else “bad” about EoTM is map design. Too many chokepoints on too many levels, driving brainless zerg rushes to extremes because that is the only way to push forward. Which isnt even that bad, we want more melee. It just blend poorly with current “normal” WvW meta, which make it a poor switch between the two.

I am curious to see what the new map bring… and how willing and able Anet will be to fix any potential flaw.

Show me one instance of Anet delivering something the WvW community has asked for. And no, fixing achievements so they don’t take a minimum 12 years to complete (3 years after launch) doesn’t count.

• They removed culling, which was a major change.
• They adjusted fov after people complained that some players had three-screen setups that gave them an advantage
• They changed siege despawn from 30 minutes to one hour
• They removed the quaggans because they were buggy and affected the entire map
• They added bloodlust to replace the quaggans because players asked for PPK effects.
• They worked to fix the issues from allowing fov with siege, and are still in progress of actively finding a solution.

There`s more, but those are a few of the requested things that have transpired.

EoTM does nothing to affect WvW scores.

Devs have already said, over and over and OVER again, that bodies in EoTM do NOT count toward the active WvW population.

I’ve read a few statements that the new maps will make it next to impossible to blob up in massive numbers without getting decimated — or just being bag fodder.

I’m truly hoping this is true.
