We had 20 vs 25 at a tower today and my computer, which up to now never had a problem, just froze then crashed. I’d hate to see it with three servers at once. It indeed seems problematic.
Tried this today … And failed, lol.
Friend however, was successful. Seems you need to have a decoy mesmer to chase/distract.
Needless to say, I need to improve.
Well some do.
So posting just to help.
Just got this in my inbox, while in WvW about a minute ago.
It’s not from Anet and redirects you to a phishing scam to get your account details.
DO NOT GO TO THE URL!
Report the email as scam.
Here’s an image example:
Note the message at the bottom saying it’s not Anet.
Don’t fall for it.

megaserver is the way to go.
allows flexibility depending on population popularity
Perfect for EoTM.
Terrible for WvW.
Just have to be talented enough to skirt them for five minutes. After five minutes that ability is removed.
Please come back in a month and report. Right now, actual numbers aren’t reflective.

I just think it’s hilarious that people really argue with a straight face that the reason the new maps are vacant is because veteran WvW players are in PvE.
All the dedicated (and by dedicated I mean 8-12 hours/day WvW guys) in my friends list are all out getting their elites in pve-land. About 50+ so far. And they’re usually in map every day, all day, seven days a week.
Thats funny…. because my guild unlocked our elites the first two days and we have been back in WvW. One night on the new map is all it took for us to decide that we were only playing EB going forward.
Why? The new map sucks. Of course, we told ANET this during beta and told them exactly why it sucks (matching many of the current complaints from players seeing it for the first time this past week). They ignored feedback completely.
Sure some of the emptiness is due to the new PvE content, but it doesn’t change the reality that, while beautiful artistically, they were horribly designed. Its like they took all the feedback of what everyone didn’t want and chose to implement them out of spite. Heh
Three accounts on T1 servers. During prime time NA the only queued BL is EB consistently. The only time any other BL is queued is because some commander is karma training it for hero points. That is reality…..
Also, the people that actually like the map are by far the minority.
You’re quoting a post from four days ago.
Context.
All the names I see posting in this thread are long-time WvWers/scouts; those that play 8 hours plus per day, seven days a week, for years.
If any thread got some attention and love it should be this one.
My guild has only 1 member. Me.
Long story short: before HoT i had 2 guilds both sustained with influence points purchased via an NPC (that has been removed).
Now you can say all you want about how pathetic it can sound to have not 1 but 2 guilds as a single player. However, point is with both upgraded purely for +5, i was able to either have 2 +5 in a map or “chain the 2 claimings” so that my server/s could have +5 even after i logged off.
And if you are a smart/experienced WvW player, then you can immagine how useful that “tactic” can be. Not to brag, but as for +5 claims i was more reliable than entire guilds.
So i’ll get to the point. I am not in a real guild. I am not interested in GH and all the rest. (Altho ofc i perfectly understand real guilds want to discuss and fix any problems about GH, upgrades etc, and i genuinely wish you all the best luck with that).
All i want is the +5Before HoT I spent many days/time/gold to care about sharing +5 with my server and now suddenly the game threats me like some kind of “non-WvW-player”. This is riddiculous.
Yes, guilds hall are for guilds, yes, give them all the upgrades they deserve, i am totally fine with that. But please, don’t cut me off +5 only because i prefer to stay guildless…
This was me too. I had two guilds specifically for this purpose, or to buff when others didn’t have any up. I miss the +5 and being able to buff a keep.
Most of the folks who did this regularly were from small or solo guilds — the scout types. Wish they’d find a way to give it back to us — and I’m not fussed if I ever get a hall itself. I’d just like the buffs back.
So haven’t been on to test this at all .. has it been the game-ending change that everyone feared?
One person, or a small group of people can have their own fun in WvW. If you only have a handful, you can go roaming and you will find smaller scale fights. If you want to defend, pick a tower over a keep (easier to control a smaller tower) and cover all your angles — you’d be surprised how long a few people can hold off a massive blob with proper siege placement.
Certainly greater numbers will mean you will eventually get overrun. But it’s fun to see just how many you can take out before that happens.
WvW is what you make it.
Don’t like what the blue tag is doing? Do your own thing, or save up and buy your own blue tag. People will naturally follow the ones that have the better strategy.
But don’t sit on map criticizing the existing blue tag, that adds nothing to team play and actually can demoralize a map. Be the change you want to see.
I guess you missed three years worth of threads complaining about population imbalances.
Population imbalances within a tier is all that matters. Tier rotation should never be sought after. Each tier should always viewed and designed as a separate entity. It’s the only way to make a stable and wider “Goldilocks Zone” for the varied types of WvW player.
So basically if it doesn’t affect you, you don’t care, lol. Very nice
All the T1 guilds logged into their SoS accounts for a month?
Mine was exotic.
I got my minstrel cloth from a random boss drop. Although I thought it was account bound. Maybe I’m wrong.
There is always going to be a way to game the system, I just wish ArenaNet as much effort into balancing WvW population balance and health as the T1 servers do in manipulating population balance and health.
Actually, Arenanet needs to get out of the way. We, the 10’s of thousands of WvW players, can do a much better job of balancing coverage and making enjoyable match ups than a handful of Devs that don’t even play the mode.
T1 needed more players to maintain large scale combat over 24 hours a day. That’s not even debatable at this point. I’m just going to point you to read my previous post on page 1 for the rest.
I guess you missed three years worth of threads complaining about population imbalances.
I actually love this idea in WvW … but haven’t fully puzzled out if it could be abused or not .. certainly there needs to be a dome/barrier as a player gets near an objective … can you think of any other ways?
To be far they did make the camera adjustable to the zoom hack distance so everyone could do it. So they might as well let everyone fly since cheaters are doing it now!
I can wait for the first time a commander yells, Someone get on those anti aircraft guns!!!
Don’t get me started on the fov … thankfully they took some steps to address that.
I liked your idea of watching them drop like a lead balloon tho
The only thing I’m concerned about is that ESO failed mostly because its map was too large and made fighting seem more like a marathon jog than quick combat … meanwhile GW2 thrived.
I’m still a ways off on making a decision about the new maps, but it’s something to keep in mind I guess.

Yes.
It was Anet that over-reacted.
Yep.
I like to run around randomly helping people without expectation of reward. It’s called doing a good deed. The reward is it makes you feel great.
You’re missing the point.
I think my point was: Why do you have to be incentivized to help someone?
Today, for example, I stuck around the Treacherous Path Hero event for an hour, jumping in to help others because that particular one is tough.
Walked away feeling good
Not sure if HoT maps will work the way original GW2 maps worked — meaning more events/tougher bosses the more population on map — and likewise, toned down events/bosses with fewer people on map.
If for use as a glider, you have to train your mastery first.
After trying some of the pve maps which are similar in feel to the borderlands one, I can’t help but feel that the wvw maps are like the pve maps without gliders.
It’s just a feeling, but I think the map is actually begging for gliders.
You just want to yell “DEATH FROM ABOVE!”
Somehow, I don’t think this one’s got the legs that the Elite Spec issue had.
If we cry loud enough then Anet will change it.
Oh that’s like nails on a chalk board for me, lol.
I think, as a scout, defending will focus more on inner/core areas until a certain level of comfort/transport within the new maps transpires, as people learn new tricks.
If it’s impossible to cover every outer area of a keep, focus on what you CAN do. Then expand from there.
….Bugs will be there on the initial release of any game….
Check out the Bauxite event. Then re-read what you wrote and stop posting on this. Thank you.
You were the one that posted complaints in a thread about spoilers, which has nothing to do with the topic. I would suggest you create your own thread.
Interesting question. I assume that as with everything else Mastery, they’re account-bound. Find it on one character, it’s already found by everyone else. Plus, there must be a reason that mastery points weren’t included in map completion numbers.
I’m assuming they’re account-bound, but I’m curious to know for certain.

Devs said projected two months to get arena/hall, but truly motivated guilds could get it in two weeks.
Coupled with the fact there’s a missing NPC to trade BoH for War Room material upgrades, it’s going to be a while.

Did not know that. Thanks for the info
Isn’t there a guy you turn them in at the guild hall portal? Where you register?
SFR hasn’t been full in months… most of us transferred elsewhere for one reason or another… but you still can’t transfer there because the only way that Anet could break their dominance was by stopping people replacing the people who leave.
Oh, lol, this was hilarious. Thank you
So much more PvE and jumping puzzles, just what every roamer wanted!!!
/s
I am teh bads at jumping. I am doomed.
It’s funny people still think EotM is real “WvW”
if you look at the new wvw map, anet seems to think this too
You, sir, just made my day. Good chuckle.
More rewards in WvW is a bad thing, because it attracts farmers. Fewer rewards, while I don’t care much about ppt, means people are there for the type of gameplay. The reward is beating your enemy.
Sich, getting a bit bummed reading your report. I trust your word. Hopefully we can find something to salvage.
How does beating your enemy in and of itself help the population issue? Better/more loot drops means more people come to play and stick around. More people means the maps aren’t ghost towns.
No it means a mass influx of people who come because they only care about the loot. It means they never fully invest in the actual server or game mode itself. It means they become part of the big mindless blob and don’t really take time to learn the functions of WvW, ever, as long as the lewt is coming in. It means if they don’t get the big shiny, they won’t participate. It means there’s constant calls for “Let’s Take SM!” Why haven’t we taken SM? C’mon let’s take SM? YOU GUYS SUCK YOU WON’T TAKE SM!" etc etc …
Frankly I’d be happy with a rewardless WvW.
Here’s a list from Dry Top .. not what you wanted, but lots of new ones:

I have seen food recipes from the frog vendors, but don’t know what they entail yet.

The new siege generators and WXP skills for it look fun!
Omega,
You are not allowed to quit.
Love,
Bamby
unless the enemy is blind dumb monkey on pills that only walk sideways.
I thought that was the definition of a blob. (Little scout humour there!
)
I get in more fights roaming EoTM than Wvw, more zerg fights, etc. Granted I am on a tier 1 server
Um, you do realize that EoTM is organized kind of like the megaservers right?
Your tier in EoTM, aside from designated colour, means nothing. You’re merged in with all the blues, all the reds, or all the green servers. Tier only has impact if you actually WvW.
Do you have map completion elsewhere?
I am seeing tons of friends in Orr getting the ones there that they didn’t get due to not doing map completion.
If at all possible, it’d be nice to not have minimum requirements if the player is willing to do the work.
There’s lots and lots of solo and small-2-man guilds who are the backbone of WvW and not being able to add buffs to objectives is a bit dismaying, since they were the ones who religiously maintained them prior to the new restrictions.
Am I the only one that has really been enjoying HoT so far?
I mean when I farmed for poison mastery, it was tough, but I just explored and did events on the way. I feel like a lot of the complainers are trying to rush the content.
Nope. Really enjoying it.
And I hate hate hate pve.
But whaddya know? I’m actually pve-ing and having fun.
