Correct me if i’m wrong, as I haven’t ventured over there in quite some time. But isn’t there an a crap load of PvE mobs in that area? Is there actually a decent open space that isn’t A) full of mobs? full of trees?

I think the trees would make for some interesting terrain strat

As for the mobs, spectators took out the pigs pretty regularly …. But yeah there’s also that spot near Mendons too.

@covenn: you guys went to JQ for a week during the T2 fight you had. Would be the same deal …. Head to another tier for a week for the GvGs …. Otherwise I think you’ll be stuck with your limited options and never truly able to prove dominance.

I’ve certainly been seeing a lot more Alt F4ing lately, but doesn’t matter to me — I still get the bags. I’m wondering if you ran off too far from where he disconnected and just missed the bag? Lots of grass and all. Have never seen it happen where a bag didn’t drop after.

At least our trolls are building trebs .. mind you seven of them at the supply depot is a bit of overkill, but they still can be used.

It’s like a small forest of trebs all over EB in every tower and keep.

Are you talking about the jut/bridge of stone that’s attached to lake tower?

If so, then no. It only destroys the bridge part and leaves the tower intact, making that treb spot inaccessible for those who own lake tower. Same thing with Briar btw.

Gosh that was an epic fight for SM just now. Only took six hours! Well done to all, was fantastic fighting.

We even trebbed up the jump tower today — something I haven’t done in a long long time .. so has been a day of adventures (there were two more above me in pix)

I believe the afk time is only 8 minutes, 10 tops. I know because I’ve almost been booted for inactivity when I’ve gone out for a cigarette. Unless you mean people standing in spawn and not WvWing …. Then I have no idea how you’d differentiate between those just arriving and those not, since to avoid the inactivity boot you have to move.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Kodash and Riverside on EB tonight. The fights have been absolutely fantastic — that three-way battle at golanta was amazing

Again, I`m fully supporting your demand for an own gamemode/map or something along that line. But diminishing everything else is just pathetic.

It’s not meant to dimish others, but the GvG scene is made up mostly of people who have been playing WvW the longest, and are the most dedicated to the gametype. There’s a sense of seniority there, because as seniority goes…..they’re senior. Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, but most of the opponents of the idea are those who have not “done their time” in WvW, so to speak.

You really have to stop with this kind of thinking/writing. What you keep saying or implying is that there’s some kind of superiority involved with seniority, or a caste system. That’s simply not true and you are the only person even implying that such a caste system has any kind of legitimacy on all the pages of threads on this topic.

I guarantee I have more hours in WvW than you do. Does that make me more senior to you?

It is very much true though.
The vast majority of WvW:ers don’t GvG.
If they did we would never have any actual sieges or real fights.

GvG is done by a small (although quite vocal) minority of the WvW population.

That “vast majority” you’re talking about are the one-dayers who make no difference in the outcome of WvW. They show up for completion and leave. Their presence makes no difference and does not count.

I don’t GvG myself but I support it because I think it brings something of value to guilds that work hard in WvW. But saying someone’s presence in WvW doesn’t count is elitist and antagonizes a certain preconception a lot of people do have about GvG. Every person who heads into WvW to fight for their server, even in the process of getting map completion, matters. Every player counts, regardless of level of contribution. Today’s map completionist can become tomorrow’s vet.

I have two accounts, one on NA and one on EU …. I’ve checked ping/fps/latency on both at various times and they’re pretty similar. Maybe it’s just really good Internet in the Great White North :p

I guess my main point is that the hype about EU latency is mostly that …. Hype.

untrue. as someone who came to EU from NA, there is a bit more lag. i had 25ms ping in NA, the servers are in Austin, TX – that is correct. in EU i get 150ms avg with spikes to 300ms at times. the EU datacenters are in Germany I believe.

Yep and WvW in Tier 1 and Tier 2 NA is more like a job and less like a game for fun.

I have a suggestion: Since EU seems more accomodating to GvG, why don’t all the guilds interested in GvG head over there, and leave the WvW ppt meta folks NA? Then those protesting a couple hours during a week of GvG time can see the real impact of these guilds they are so maligning.
