Baruch will be very happy with this
Will be interesting for my solo ninja projects.
I believe you get 10 pts per yak and sentry, but I would have to go back into game to confirm. If the yaks don’t make it to their destination, doesn’t really matter at what upgrade level the camp is. But you can max your ppt (and reset the enemy’s double supply if its done) by flipping the camp too while waiting on the doly to respawn. However a flipped camp is often noticed and reacted to before a missing doly.
Edited to add: Just checked and it appeared to be 5 pts for the yak, 10 for the sentry.
(edited by Jayne.9251)
Well do the math. Camps yield 5ppt per tick, assuming you can control two and flip them before the timer runs out each time, that’s 10ppt per tick, 60 pt per hour.
Roamers are pretty well irrelevant. That’s because on the whole, camps, dolyaks and sentries are of very, very minor importance. Even towers are generally unimportant strategically (with one or two exceptions)
The battle is largely over who holds the keeps and the strategic towers and because of the way the game is structured, there’s little point in worrying too much about upgrading anything else. Very often (in fact, usually) the battle will roll over a structure, cap it and leave. The only value of supply camps and most towers is as a source of siege equipment supply.
The idea of ‘cutting off supply’ as a game mechanic has failed because camps are so vulnerable. They can be switched back-and-forth at any moment by minor forces. The only real obstacle being the buff timer.
Cut off the supply and you have paper towers. Paper towers go down by the main zerg force much faster than T3 towers. Continue to kill the dolyaks while waiting on the supervisor buff and they remain paper towers. Flip camps constantly and at best the enemy can get 70 supply instead of 140 supply into a tower. Flip them 5 minutes before the tick and you gradually add to your server’s ppt and detract from the enemy’s .. particularly if you wait and time it like that over and over.
He who controls the supply, controls WvW. Those who are doing this service should be lauded, because they’re making any push on the map easier for the main force.
Fun fact: A dolyak will net the server 10pt per kill. Doylaks respawn every 6-7 minutes I believe, could be a bit longer. Sitting at a camp exit and just killing dolyaks will net your server roughly 80pt per hour, longer than most towers on most maps if you’re in the higher tiers. And a tower is worth what? 10 per tick for a total of 60pt per hour?
Another fun fact: Most roamers act as scouts, track enemy movement and call out empty towers and keeps, and tagging towers and doors to help split up the enemy and subsequently make pushes on map easier.

Wanted to thank the Deso Asuran memser on DBL who was enjoying a nice swim with me near garrison earlier. I could have done without your three other friends, we were having a nice challenging underwater match going, but it was fun
Wanted to apologize for vanishing after your three friends arrived, wasn’t me porting out, the queue finally popped. I had been waiting a while so was reluctant to ignore it. Sorry!
I’ll look for you again though. First decent under water fight I’ve had in ages. Cheers!
Anything that manipulates the system by giving the other team an otherwise unfair advantage is against the ToS. Having one account up and playing another and relaying that information to the “home team” would construe an unfair advantage, in that the information being relayed isn’t readily available for all players to make it an even playing field. It’s gaming the system. The game wasn’t meant to be played that way. And honestly? It just indicates, to me, a lack of skill or even a fear of fighting the enemy.
While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.

You can report a spy by creating an actual support ticket under “violations” with documented evidence: details, photos, chat logs, etc. Depending on what the guy is doing, they can or can’t do anything against him. For example, if he’s being verbally abusive, that’s against the ToS, and is bannable, just submit screen captures of his abuse in chat. If he’s just standing there relaying info to his teammates, that’s harder to prove. You just have to hope the guy is dumb enough to admit it to you via whispers or in map chat. If he does that, screen cap the chat log and submit that. It does work, Anet does look into it. But you have to file the actual ticket.
Spying in an MMO is a sign that people need to go outside and get some fresh air and stop treating the game like a second job, though. To even have to do any of what the above poster wrote to counter ‘spying’ seems just silly in the first place.
And that said, a spy is generally more useful than people realize. Particularly if they don’t know you have figured them out. They can be incredibly useful tools.
Take your beating like men, Piken, don’t cry me a river.
Your not in the same league as Deso,so deal with it. If you want structured fights, you should go to Spvp. Oh, you don’t like that? because Deso wins at that too?
The people on Deso, that don’t like night capping, the door is that way —-—-> Vabbi
It’s actually more Deso people that are complaining about it than Piken.
And just wanted to quote this for posterity. So we can look back later. Stuff like this tends to motivate people.
Haha, really? Wasn’t on for that. I guess compliments are being given all round then eh?
Oh Piken has been golem rushed by every server we’ve faced recently at night. We’re used to it, lol. It’s kind of a compliment really, that the enemy is too afraid to drop a ram and do it the old fashioned way
I wouldn’t recommend it at any other time, however. So many senseless golem deaths.
I’ve been asking to be able to see my own name over my head since BWE2.
Yeah but your original post before you edited was publically asking for names. Was just flagging you on forum rules.
What Deso should know is Piken tends to have lower numbers out over the weekend (something about having real lives or something, the heathens, lol
. ). Weekday usually shows the real matchup.
you mean this is your small numbers D=?
Lol, yes, that was kind of my point
If Piken ever got a NA guild or two that played 7pm EST onward, it would prove interesting.

Hi there,
I’m not seeing this all the time, but every once in a while when you add +5 guild buff supply to a supply camp in WvW it doesn’t work. Initially when you click the buff in guild window, it consumes it, but the countdown timer doesn’t show up, and it won’t let you requeue a new +5.
Logging out and back in again lets you see the timer countdown in guild window, but claiming a supply camp will not result in the +5 supply add.
I cannot pinpoint why it happens sometimes and not at others. The guild supervisor let me claim the camp, but the buff did not activate.
Anyone else seeing this happen? That could maybe pinpoint a reason why it is happening, other than a bug?
Naming people. I would recommend you use your community forums if you want something like this.
Believe this is against forum rules.
Anything that helps organize maps better and make them function within varying groups is a great idea. We need something like this.
Petrica you got your wish
You Baruch fellows need to go take a nice nap then
C’mon, I know you’re sleepy.
And @Jayne: Ouch, rickrolled
You sir get a gold star!
Break off 10 of those 30-40 and have them go ninja stuff while your main Zerg acts as a distraction. Have a few of your solo roamers knock on doors all over the map, splitting up their 80 even more. Get four man teams to build catas and test response times. If nobody answers, have them break down the gate, then leave and do it at another spot, draining that tower or keep’s supply as the enemy rushes to repair. Control enemy supply with supply traps and camp flipping. When you do amass forces, taking a paper tower that’s been denied supply all day, thanks to your day crew, is much easier than trying to flip T3 towers/keeps.
I have capped Hills with five people several times when I was in a tier two NA match.. I’m not saying this to brag, I’m saying being creative can sometimes pay off. I also capped NE tower on reset night in that same tier with 4 people and two 60 man zergs on the map (i know some talented folks who do this with only two players). More recently I solo ran supply from north camp on reset to a cata I’d placed by garrison wall and got it down. The rest of our crew had the enemy so occupied it allowed me the time to do this sneaky siege build. Bloated servers tend to get lazy if the week is too lopsided, and many players will expect someone else to go check out the white swords, meaning you’d be surprised with what you can get away with sometimes.
There’s a very stubborn and talented crew on Baruch who run maybe eight max. If they are on the map and you see white swords, even if you’re speedy as heck, they’ll have got the gate down to 40% by the time those white swords pop and you run to check, lol. And even if they get wiped, they just try another spot, lol.
I spend the bulk of my time solo roaming/scouting in WvW. Fighting in a big group is fun, but capping something or wreaking havoc with smaller numbers is more fun for me.
My point is, be creative. Use the bodies you do have to make your enemy pull their hair out over you.
Then stake them when you run into them with reasonable numbers …. Like when a few are running to check on the solo door knocker.

I didn’t. I went to EU instead recently after playing NA since BWE2. Massively different game play and a good choice for me. If you are more interested in the fights, less about stacked servers and queues, I’d recommend it.
Edited to add: Sharpoon, there is NA presence, and bodies to fight, believe it or not, just not the massive presence you get during EU prime, and certainly not the never-ending sea of red blobs you get in high tier NA servers. Which is a good thing because all servers there, except a few, have about comparable numbers. And the quality of fights don’t disappear once EU prime folks go to bed. Should head over and check it out before the rest of the masses catch on.

But .. but .. I’m a girl
Also, I’ve had this name in various MMOs WAAAY before all that silly Firefly stuff.
Still being a masochist Coral?
First off, thanks to the three BB earlier in the night who came to enjoy a nice swim with me near garrison on BBBL. Massive difference from last week’s match when they wouldn’t even come into the water when they saw me
Big kudos you kept coming back. Was fun! I owe you three some cookies.
Next up. Oh my god. Second on EB. lol. The chaos. Thanks for the fun fights!
You guys are tough.
As for the ACs, oh I have sneaky ways of countering those … /nod.
when the ac’s blot out the sun he will…
Fight in the shade!!!! sorry mate couldn’t resist giving out your secret :P
Haha, something like that.
*looks innocent.
Oh wonder if they changed it then. Cos I was able to convert items about three weeks ago. Hrm.
Yes, you can. Have done it.
I would personally like to see Robes of Power. Stylish lounge clothing for the relaxed WvW’er.
What about Robes of Powder? In a nice powder blue color. That’s stylin’!
I think it would be more amusing if people started fighting over who has the bigger blob.
NO! My blob is bigger!
No! MINE is!
I mean isn’t that what boys do anyhow?
Own your blob. /nod
Also this, with <3 (I hope someone gets it
)
Eh tomorrow is another day dear Petrica. Keep hope alive
Reset tomorrow.
What’s hilarious is that last week Piken was launched into Tier 1, as a 9th seed server facing second and fourth seed servers. Most of map chat wasn’t “oh this is terrible!” but more “oh yay! more fights! this is awesome!”
And we seem to be bad luck for any second seed server. At the end of every week they seem to lose a ranking and another server steps into second spot.
I think if you go into it about the fights and not about winning, the game becomes all that more enjoyable, and you actually start to make a dent.
have you ever been against vizunah? i hope u get the opportunity to see “fights” from rank1 server:P
I’m actually looking forward to it.
I’ve been in fights with T1 NA servers, so I’m curious as to how they compare. Plus WvW is about the fights, right? No reason to complain when you have an abundance of choices, lol. Plus I think being the underdog only improves your skill, and makes you work harder.
Challenge is good. Victories taste sweeter when you’re outmanned and you win.
Also Coral: <3
you will enjoy it, if you enjoy pvd under 5 superior AC fire. other that that, you wont even know there are players on the map.
oh, yeah… the skill lag also lets you know you are in 1km distance of vizunah zerg. in that case you might also enjoy pvd under 5 superior AC fire autoatack:)
be careful what you wish for.
Ah lol, War Machine used to be this way. Your computer screen would start to stutter before they removed culling, and then you’d be face down in the dirt with thundering hooves over your back, never having seen them hit you in the first place, haha. With culling removed, the visual stutter is a great tool, actually, and a detriment to the server with it, because you can yell out advance warning and reliably predict where they’ll hit next.
As for the ACs, oh I have sneaky ways of countering those … /nod.
I guess my original point, before we derailed into reminiscing, was that people I think are looking at this the wrong way. Sure there’s server pride involved with winning, but when that’s all the focus becomes, the joy of WvW slowly gets drained and it becomes more like a second job. Get out there for the fights. Ignore the score. WvW is about challenging you to improve, and you can’t do that hiding in towers or keeps, or complaining about who you’re up against. Just pick who you want to hit, give it your best shot, and walk away laughing.
Edited to add: Mr. Zilla, if we get them, I shall dance around the base of their towers, throwing cookies into the air, and taunt them until they come out and try to kill me. Then I’ll invite them swimming (cue Jaws music).

Home BL is the most difficult and stressful of all the maps. It requires significant ability to multi-task and you are typically on the end of 2v1 as you noted. It is also the map that leads to burn out faster than other maps.
EB is busy. Things flip there constantly and while there is defensive strat with EB, I found its not as crucial as it is on the home BL. If I want a busy afternoon, I head to EB. There are certainly challenges on EB, but I find it the easiest of all maps.
Enemy maps tend to be havoc time for me — scouting, diversion, camp flipping, you are more detached and less personally invested, so you can try some new tricks.
I spent the first six months of WvW in the home BL. I have since learned its healthy to go out on other maps. I will now rotate different maps at different days of the week, and find the different challenges make things interesting. I honestly think everyone should do this … Rotate maps, learn the different meta involved … It can only make you, at the very least, more creative in your gameplay on home BL, eb and enemy maps.
Highlight of my week.
We have maybe twenty defenders on EB last night and are simply getting swamped and eventually Jade Sea overwhelms and takes OL. I shed a tear. Then hid.
About five minutes later, BB comes in and takes OL from JS. I’m still hiding.
In fact, twenty minutes later, I have survived two flips of OL and I was still inside, lol
So I ask map, and the consensus is we don’t have the bodies. So I send out some super secret whispers, in comes the cavalry, portal them in, and we get OL back. Without a WP mind you, but at least my super secret hiding skills were put to good use
I think this is something the EU servers got right a long time ago. They seem to care less overall for the PPT and just play for the fights in order to get better.
EU is definately the place to be. Trust me on this.
Darn EU folks recruiting from our matchup thread!
;-)
Heya Jayne, we miss you!

I’ll just leave these cookies here.

Dear BB thief on BBBL,
That was a kinda fun fight near the lake between Hills and Garrison. Went on for quite a bit. Was enjoying it greatly. Then you ran away
And now any time I see you I run to you to give you a big big hug and you flee. Come back please. I need practise vs thieves. I’ll give you cookies.

The only issue with server guilds is that if there’s ever a dispute or argument and the guild disbands/leaves, then the server is left with nothing and collapses. Successful servers that have managed to hold out over time are the ones that have a million little guilds and independent players, that if a big guild does decide to leave, the impact is minimal.

This was a fight before siege was up on the Trading Post. Twelve. To take Ogre Watch.
Sadly, they all died.
Oh my gosh that was epic on EB just now.
I think he should get drunker and drunker the longer you try it. start slurring his words, and reaction times slows, lol. How frustrating was this one? An hour later, still haven’t beat him.

Mmmm, Shadows do not blob. XD
Good job if you avoided some of our ninjas. Obviously not all of them work. Perhaps you also noticed that at the same time we cut the supply lines and managed to get the camps. If one or two couple of Shadows make a enemy zerg to move is a good movement in terms of resources investment. Very often we split, so it is almost impossible to counter us…
Shadows play with the resources access, both in terms of supplies and enemy warriors, we are tough people who almost always fight against bigger numbers.
Almost never a group of Shadows die in a place, that means that there is always a hole in enemy field.Best,
Haltair, one of the Twelve Shadows
Oh absolutely. You guys were a pain in the you-know-what.
But a good scout often runs counter to where teammates are on map so they can monitor what’s going on. Much like you guys will split to distract (it’s something I do myself on enemy maps), scouts will divide and watch and evaluate the greater threat to direct map alerts for response. They will often engage a group solo while typing out info in map chat at the same time. And even if they die, those precious minutes they were making you run around a bit to kill them is often enough time to have the team come in and wipe the enemy. Which we did.
Controlling supply is definately key to winning in WvW. You guys are fabulous at that. But, lol, don’t try to ninja a tower or a keep when I’m on. However, the key to a good ninja is not getting defeated after a wipe, but regrouping and trying something else, which I saw you guys do last night, over and over. Well done.

Ladies, ladies. You’re all beautiful.
No go out there and bash someone over the head with a mallet.
Hi there, will file a support ticket on this as well, but the pvp gear you get from the achievement chests … well not all of it manages to find its way to your pvp locker. I am missing about 5-6 pieces that I got out of the chests that vanished when I hit “deposit collectibles.”
It was only when I went to the pvp locker looking for a specific piece I had previewed earlier and deposited for later, only to find it not there, that I noticed that other pieces didn’t make it over as well.
Just reporting this bug.
