So was talking with a friend about this and he said 20 minutes on the reticker is probably ideal — it’s too long for someone siege capping/griefing to help the opposing side AND get wxp, but it’s just enough time to rescue it despawning, and does maybe get a few who typically don’t do the ticking duty to jump on board and help.

well…on the 28th we will supposedly be fighting a different server every week, so……. I think the decision to move was a little premature unless there is more meaning behind it besides from wanting a change of scenery.

Funniest part of my evening (and this is no way trying to make fun of, it was just hilarious and unfortunate timing to me): DB breaks down west gate garri door on dbbl and JUST as they portal their golems to the inner main gate, our zerg comes out the inner gate lands right on top of the portal as the golems port to gate. Nobody could have possibly timed that. It was just one of those omg moments.

TC offered us 30k gold, still considering the offer. FA doesn’t need BT to stay in T2 I don’t think, but hopefully they get an influx of pve players coming out to pull some weight since they cry so much about wvw bonuses.

Take FA keeps and Garrison they vulnerable now. Who will defend them, what little coverage and support they have. With guilds leaving left and right FA will pull an SOS maneuver (Tier 1 to tier 4 in about a month).

Actually he’s really quite useful, whether he realizes it or not. He stands outside of an objective next to be targetted, so we are always on top of where the next attack will be.

Well it looks like FA is done for this week and more then like T2.

FA may be done on the scoreboard, but that’s more due to coverage gaps than to attitude IMO. Been in WvW all week, and when FA is there, they’re THERE. I consistently see the PPT swing heavily in their favor when they’re actually on the field.

And as for them being “done” in T2… barring the May 28 ranking shakeup and how that pans out, they’re far from done in T2. They’re currently more than 100 Glicko points ahead of Mags, and that lead is increasing.

FA isn’t going anywhere, and I’m glad they’re not.

I think things are going to get a lot worst for FA soon it sux but we will try to have fun before it happens! Also during bags are still bags you guys are good to farm.

Hang in there FA. It’ll sort itself out.

Yes but they could do that now without the wxp … and likely getting 1 or 2 wxp — even say your 30 rams? That’s only 60 wxp max if it’s a timing thing for capturing an objective. That’s not a lot of wxp compared to going out and capping a tower or running with a zerg. Also you don’t get wxp for BUILDING the siege, just ticking it, and that requires sticking around for at least 20 minutes, and given the dynamics of WvW, 20 minutes is usually a bit too long for a capping griefing to aid an enemy to get an objective. That and it’d be a pretty darn great visual cue to your server that a certain spot was about to get hit if suddenly this guy was in there building 30 rams and sticking around 20 minutes to tick it.

It does, however, reward those who do it for the right reasons .. and encourage others to pitch in. I think your example is valid, but siege griefing has taken a nose dive since they implemented this 30 minute ticking policy, and this is just incentive to get your teammates to help.

BTW you still owe me cookies for building you all that siege you requested when you were still on TC. :p

I disagree. Since they established the 30 minute timer on siege, there’s been very few complaints about siege griefers anymore. Why? Because it’s a pain in the butt to run around and stay on a map and tick siege every 30 minutes. The old siege griefers got away with it because they knew if they placed a piece of siege, it would stay there indefinately. They could then log out of their griefing account and go back to their main one. I very much doubt you’d have people willing to spend 5-8 hours on a map ticking siege just to grief, not when they could get wxp other ways, or help their server in other ways. This is just a small reward for the dedicated few who spend the bulk of their time in WvW doing this. Plus it may offer some relief to these people as others start doing it because of the incentive of wxp, so that they could actually get out and enjoy WvW like the rest.

I’m hoping to see a winner up, loser down system, but I’m not holding my breath. My guess is they actually keep Glicko, but adjust the formula so ratings are much closer together, resulting in more volatility. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

I think they’re going to rotate EU and NA servers within the same tier.

Cos a week or two back we (and a couple other servers) had issues like this, but only on the red maps. It eventually got fixed, but took almost a week.

And because of that sugar coma, many are too weak to press the “change world” button. But we here on TC have a plan for them. See pix below of our typical number of TC sentries in keeps and towers all over our maps. Those too tired to go on, are simply propped up with our Asuran technology support bars.

I also think, collectively, we stay because of our server’s unique sense of humour.

Yeah that’s the key .. you can’t just sit at logon screen … it won’t update that way apparently. You have to relaunch the game to get an “accurate” refresh.

I think that DB is purposefully lowering their rating because they think they can eat up some easy points on two “fattened pigs” later on when they get whatever guilds they are currently farming for.

It doesn’t really matter what they do. Nobody is really going to respect any victory won by bank rolling a bunch of huge guilds over.

What if I told you that guilds are paying for their own transfers? DB isn’t “bankrolling” anything.

Some are and some are not. I know that my arch nemesis is helping by providing part payment to certain guilds. But his not giving them the whole amount.

Why spend all this time tickling siege, WvW wins go to the server with the most players/best coverage anyway, so unless you’re in the only evenly balanced matchup in WvW, why not just go and have some fun, as nothing you do will make any difference to the final outcome. Losing a tower is not the end of the world anyway you can always recap them.

If your server is one of the losing ones, you may hold a keep for hours but it will only get pvd after you go to bed and at the end of the week, the largest server will still have won.

I agree that the siege timers should be a little longer but honestly, in the hours you sit in the keep think of all the points you could have scored attacking the enemy keeps or taking camps or killing dolyaks.

Refreshing siege as you pass by is fine but don’t waste hours of your day sitting in a keep just to refresh siege, the game is supposed to be fun after all.

Here’s a reason to tick siege. Four ACs placed by the wurm gate on an enemy’s Bay were kept ticked and lived for 12 hours. During that time four people on those ACs fended off three zerg invasions of more than 30 enemy. If the ACs hadn’t been ticked or there in the first place, it would have been an easy roll for the enemy.

Certainly if they amass more bodies, they can push, but those early defensive siege can hold them off until help arrives.

Yes but you have to clear the guards to get at the oil usually, and repop on the guards automatically gets those white swords, even if you don’t tap the gate, I believe,

I use oil as a kind of an early warning system for each tower and keep. If the enemy attacks, they have to take out the oil first (if they’re ramming), which takes some time and pops the white swords — enough for people to run over and check. For that reason alone, it’s worth keeping it up.

If they’re silly enough not to take out the oil, I get on it, and dump a pile of flaming mass on top of their heads.

As for the mastery, will have to see what it gives. If it lets you sit on the oil and reduce/remove damage from you as you use it and the enemy is attacking it, it would be worth investing in.

Much like Mayoken’s challenge to push DB below 100ppt, these guys motivated a heck of a lot of people after reading their trolling posts. And not just TC.

For my part (and I think most of my guild agrees) I don’t really think DB is going to Tier 1 with her current coverage formula. Even if she did, it would probably take the better part of a month anyway. TC is a stronger server than a lot of people in DB have faced yet, and I don’t think that was fully realized after our first match in T2. TC makes a great gatekeeper to Tier 1.

This post makes me proud to be on TC – thanks for saying this. Wanted to also point out that FA does a heckuva good job in T2 as well. I wouldn’t say any single server is a T1 gatekeeper; each server in T2 kicks butt. T2’s current matchup is awesome, competitive, and fun, and any time you’re in a tier where any of the three servers can win (and have won!) the week… Well, I think we should all consider ourselves pretty lucky.

I dont think you appreciate how scarred the “old guard” was by TC when you came to t3. FA was bad but you were worse. No disrespect intended to FA.

Someone mentioned something about how Db never got to see how well we would have done without the transfers in T2. Considering we were bottom ppt during NA in T3 when our opponents mobilized hard, Im pretty sure I can imagine what would have happened. It would not have been pretty.

Both TC and FA whupped on us during NA prime when you were floating between t2-t3. This forged a lot of server pride when week after week, even though there was no real end in sight before sos collapsed, there were dedicated NA guilds out there fighting.

Truthfully I think FA and TC are looking a gift horse in the mouth when it comes to the server transfers to DB. The new guilds have made T2 the most competitive and most fun tier in WvW.

Well if you look closely, I wasn’t actually talking to you at first. I was responding to a post that implied DB deserved no respect because the server was “bankrolling” its guilds. That’s not exactly what is going on, no one is actually being paid to come here.

‘Getting more people’ is never going to be a strategy folks will respect. Doesn’t matter if you are paying them or not and any success a server has after getting a bunch of transfers is tainted.

I don’t understand that philosophy.

If a server receives an influx of players, which puts them on par with the servers above them, why is that a bad thing?

If a sports team lands the high-price, big name free agent, are they then “tainted” because they didn’t do it with less talent?

If the game is about coverage, and someone decides to address that issue, why are they badmouthed for trying?

How would you feel if tier 1 players came into DB LA and started spamming recruitment messages to shore up their coverage?

Jayne, I hate to be the bearer of bad news and tarnish the image of FA, but there is a growing population that participates in RP Tuesdays. Granted, it mostly involves a lot of alcohol being consumed as we track invaders with our sonar beards and slay them for their dastardly acts, however, in recent weeks the participants have been growing in number.

I’m sorry if this will forever ruin your image of our server. I know the hubby (not really her husband) has been itching to tell you but he just didn’t have the heart to.
