it works differently on golems than on actual players, you can’t go by golem damage. maybe it has something to do with their “get back in place mechanik” but hits on players are never as high as on golems with surge.
you can make bleeds tick for 160+ in wvw, you can have 30k+ hp in wvw. wvw balance is lol and should not be used for pvp balance at all. the highest i ever achieved in pvp with 25 might and 25 vul stacks on the enemy was 8k with a perfect hit on a foe that played full dps.
i also noticed this. usually when i’m in glint i switch to sword, use unrelenting assault and switch to shiro. the energy regen after switching is very slow for a short duration, so while it should go from 50% to around 60 it actually only goes up to 53-55 depending on how many upkeep skills i had active before.
med kit didn’t seem to work with the protection, i tested it, at least it didn’t proc off switching to the kit.
answer to thread question: there is no counter yet :^) but hopefully they will balance the elite specs a bit until the expansion comes out, it’s still 3 weeks.
I’d say its somewhere at the top of the middle-tier. I don’t think it is too bad. I think ele, mesmer, and engi are all harder.
lol, it’s definitely harder than all of the classes and their metabuilds you mention.
so you want to nerf the damage of the only damage skill on staff that isn’t even a 100% hit. seems legit.
unrelenting assault, dodge it.
surge of the mists, stunbreak or teleport.. or stability if it’s more than 1 or 2 stacks.
welcome to the 2 only skills on revenant sword and staff that deal damage, surge is even hard to land.
we will see how it turns out. imo reaper is stronger than d/d ele but it’s still a bit early to tell. what i noticed when playing reaper vs d/d ele is that you kinda have to take them down in one go, hopping in and out of shroud for some attacks won’t do the job.
i agree that a ranged shroud can help because you can kite better and the curses weakness is good to mitigate damage aswell.
another question is, is it the reaper’s job to 1v1 a d/d ele?

Really? Just run Reaper. The entire elite spec hard counters Elementalists. I just love a perma slow on my weapon swapping and it’s even more crippling as you have to wait to overcharge.
Can we please have it so Elementalists is not the ONLY class were our weapon swapping can be slowed?

Unless its a d/d ele. Phantaram streamed some 1v1 tempest against reaper (i think the reaper was nos). The duels came down to the fact if phantaram could keep up the 90% health tresholds for diamant skin (so i guess the chill argument is plausable) but then at the end he switched to d/d ele and simply outsustained the reaper. It took him a while but he won. And it didnt seem even close.
guess what, phantaram has more experience on d/d ele than nos on reaper lol.
in terms of counterplay most of them aren’t.
please stop it, you know that d/d ele is the only thing people focus on.
it will take a while until people get the ele hate off their minds, then they move on to the next stuff and repeat.
i had a match with 3 such engis :^)

this skill is still a bit underwhelming. it’s very hard to land at distance and people will most of the time walk out of reach before you even get to heal them with it. you’re kinda forced to walk up to them and use it at point blank range.
another issue i have with this skill is that the protection is simply too short. it’s 2.25s so i would suggest to increase it to 4 seconds.
for the distance heal i would suggest a bigger radius, maybe 480, for the skill or increased healing the further away you hit somebody with it, to make it rewarding

didn’t have any issues with it and without ground targeting it’s a lot more responsive so i’m against this.
weaponswap cancels the skill in case you’re about to fall off a cliff btw
it might take a bit of practice, maybe playing with burning speed for such a long time helped a lot.

afaik race doesn’t affect attacks. hitboxes and range are equal for all races because of fairness. as an asura some things might appear to hit you where you would think they won’t or vice versa because you have the same hitbox as a charr/norn which are way bigger.
Honestly, who cares that you don’t like it? Just don’t play it. No big deal. Why deprive everyone else because you don’t think it is ready? That’s just silly.
i never said i don’t like it. and yes, i think it’s not ready yet. when you release something in an “unfinished” way it can drive people away and even if you try and fix it, if the initial impression was a bad one, people will always remember that. the best example for this would most likely be assassin’s creed unity, but let’s not go deeper into that.

No amount of changes will make it that. As a competitive game mode, conquest will always be better no matter how many changes are made to stronghold.

By design conquest is okay but it completely lacks a good amount of objectives in every map. PvP needs more than brawling it needs various choice making.
If you don’t like it fine, but thinking conquest can take GW2 into Esports is just dumb.

you can’t make a game esports, a game becomes esports on its own. people have fun, people want to compete, a company starts giving out prices and the popularity of the game grows and grows. obviously certain conditions have to be met and you have to balance a game well and keep it interesting, but besides that; a game becomes esports.
Nah cant this map be made for custom maps with 10 player team sizes?
If so, we can have better matches in Custom. This map would be better for 10v10
pvp games usually start to lagg at 10v10 + there is just not enough room for 20 people on the map, it would just end in a zergfest.
on the other hand stronghold could also split the pvp community, the game mode not really becoming competitive but still pulling players away from conquest which is “competitive”.
compared to conquest, stronghold is also way less pug/beginner friendly because it requires more execution of roles than conquest.

i just don’t think the devs would ever make it instant.
sounds like thief is nothing for you in pvp then. with all that you state what “other classes can do” you should really think about switching to those if you’re not fit for the thief’s role, which is not “stealth and burst” or to take 1v1s.
3s would already do the job. i don’t think instant will ever happen
as long as shortbow #5 is there nothing will replace the thief’s decap role. a team can choose to not play with a thief, but they will miss out on the decaps and the fast +1 if that’s what they don’t need.
as long as thief has the highest xyz mobility nothing will replace thief and its role. if teams want to play with or without is their decision.
idk why people still have that mindset that you’re only “allowed” to play 1 class. pick a 2nd class and play both well, it’s fun and you can adapt depending on the situation.
thieves have never been the best teamfighters so i don’t understand why people are crying about this.
would be nice as a simple visual effect but it shouldn’t work as an actual projectile. often i just get stuck on the 2nd auto attack, losing all my damage… and have to switch to staff.
on the picture you have 174k damage recieved, the let you freecast a lot, no wonder you have that amount of damage. currently my record on tempest is 744k damage dealt

wvw is not the way to balance the game.. but i agree that the hammer hits too high for the low cooldown it has on #2 and i made a thread about it after bwe2, either reduce the damage or increase the cooldown.
unrelenting assault is basically the only skill you have to dodge on sword, and stealth breaks the attack aswell. if you can’t be creative about it as a mesmer then maybe you should reroll. not like the clones lessen the overall damage of the skill…
just throwing something in here, it’s not very accurate but what i noticed when fighting against scrapper was that the sustain in relation to the damage it can deal is too high. now i can’t really say what the build was because i can’t spectate in ranked matches… hope that helps. i also fought against it on multiple classes and builds.
i never said it was good, i just said that it works the same way. giving ds the 0s cast time treatment would maybe help.
you can also invul a trebshot.. or warriors could heal themselves too if they used the stance heal. it has always been like this lol.

you should become a moving water field when you use the water overload, afaik you also become a fire field when you use the fire overload.
i disagree, the dragon hunter icon looks like a dragon-like shield, not like an arrowhead and thus would fit better for the herald.
so what, revenant icon is the 3rd eye, nothing to do with invoking legends either.
the legend is a dragon yes, but a herald has nothing to do with a dragon.
the other way round they would fit better than currently :P
idk if the dh symbol is supposed to be an arrowhead.. but it looks more like a shield with “dragon horns” which would fit herald better than the dragon head.
was playing around with rebound a bit… it’s not very good. it would be way better if it just gave you an invul if you happen to die during the 5s instead of the heal as most of the time it won’t make a difference.
another thing is that the 5s until you can use an overload are too long, needs to be reduced to 3s.
trying fresh air with tempest right now, tbh it’s kinda sad because i get to use 2 attunements, i can basically neglect fire and water because they don’t give me much and just play air and earth.. being able to switch attunements while using an overload would really help make the playstyle more fluid.
you might wanna buy a mouse with 12 buttons on it, no need to use a keyboard for skills.
i already said this after bwe2 that ele won’t be as popular anymore after hot comes out.
the build was nerfed now which brings it even more down
right now condi necro and condi mesmer – to some extent – can reliably kill a d/d ele in a 1v1. even gs/ham warrior can but it will be hard.
in bwe2 reapers and heralds were able to kill d/d eles in a 1v1. condi chronos if you want, but meh.
i don’t think a druid will be able to kill a d/d ele but the fight will end in a tie and you never know.
scrapper is the next candidate that could be dangerous so we’ll see how that will turn out.
but in the end the game isn’t balanced around 1v1 anyway
