by adding 1050 condi 1050 heal 560 toughness 560 vitality you would basically bring the strongest condi support bunker into the game.

if you’re shaving minstrel the problem will be that the balance won’t be right anymore. for giving up all the offensive stats you won’t get enough defensive stats anymore.

i would suggest something like

1050 healing power
780 toughness
560 vitality
560 precision
270 concentration

now you might wonder why i suggest precision.. bunker guardians will know the answer:
there are certain on crit traits, vigour on crit for example, or on crit sigils that can be important for a support spec.

shave 250 toughness off minstrel and add it as precision.

That ruins the point you don’t see zerker amulet with toughness…remove the boon duration and bring it back.

the boon duration is already there to cut vitality…

otherwise the amulet would be full nomads.

have you never heard of dhuumice? it’s dhuumfire’s big brother. after the dhuumfire nerf it waited for the right time to enter the stage, now that the 10s chill duration skills are here everything’s perfect.

Dhumfire is fine (it requires melee autos in DS to hit).
While Chill doesn’t, you can apply it with anything. Some people will say “chill doesn’t help in keeping people in melee”, even if so, 9/10 ChillReapers play without GS… and 10s of Chill is between 7-10k of damage.

Edit:
I think they should remove Chill DoT trait completly, move Dhum in it’s place (it’s good only for Reaper anyway) and give new GM trait for SoulReaping.

seems like you never got to know old dhuumfire when it was released in 2013. it was the most broken thing back then. funny thing is, chill damage is stronger than old dhuumfire.

Honestly the only thing that needs a few changes (i.e. buffs) on tempest is warhorn and some traits (especially the minor adept one and the vigor one, and maybe the overload grandmaster).

Overloads themselves are really great now and I can KINDA live with having to trait for stability on overloads. Though the shout trait seems really underpowered compared to the stability and aura master trait choices.

i disagree. half of them are still lackluster, water being the worst one. overloads put you in a very bad spot in a teamfight, they need something that protects you in those 4s, like blinds or weakness.

either something was broken for you or bursting + corruption stack really makes such a huge difference?

oh and eles can’t tank 3 players nor will they spam 3k damage left and right…

with the release of HoT i had 2 classes i was looking forward to testing of which one was support tempest, as the “close range support” it was advertised.

i was excited when i was able to play tempest with minstrel amulet because it was indeed supporty and kind of a backbone in a teamfight, although it was still killable in a 1v2 in a reasonable amount of time. but then arenanet decided to remove minstrel and the true value, or rather the true misery of the build came to light.

out of the 2 remaining full support amulets ele isn’t able to pick any; the amulets being cleric and magi. one leaves you with 13k hp and the other one leaves you with 1980 armor.

the only remaining choice is celestial because it gives you a mix of hp toughness and healingpower; the usual choice for more than a year…

the healing output of a tempest is.. acceptable in a vacuum. in practice it’s bad. with the ridiculous amount of damage around and the flawed design of overloads the amount of healing is simply not enough.

what’s the problems with overloads?
simply put, cast an overload and you will be the center of attention, not able to dodge for 4 seconds with a big animation. there is no reason not to attack you.

you do get protection yes, but that’s not enough. i saw an interesting suggestion, making overloads pulse blind per second. it might be a bit strong so once every 2 seconds could do the job aswell. oh and it would even fit into one of our lackluster minor traits or together with the stability on overload trait which is also a bit weak for a master trait (so is rock solid). fact is, we need something that gives us more protection

another problem is water overload. you outdamage water overload just by autoattacking an ele. it’s not suited to heal you up once you’re low and is more of a suicide button if anything else. what i suggest is to divide the heal equally in those 4 seconds and give water overload a water field at the end, much like how fire overload works.

something else i’d like to see for overloads is that completing each overload gives you some kind of buff for you and your team. earth giving 10% reduced damage, air already gives you an air strike, fire increased power and water increased outgoing healing. overloads need to be powerful after all.

let’s talk about shouts:

flash freeze. the reason why i use this one is because of its cooldown, not because it chills enemies if it actually hits from time to time.

aftershock. yeah i haven’t slotted this one a single time because the cooldown is just lol.

feel the burn. same as flash freeze.

eye of the storm. no aura, long cooldown. yes the effect is nice.. but you take shouts for heals and this shout doesn’t heal. if you really need it, there is a trait that activates it.

rebound. i cry everytime i use this shout. usually i take it as just a random filler aura… when it actually procs you either don’t notice it or the damage you recieve is so high that you die no matter if it heals you for meager 3k or not. what i suggest is: the healing needs to be increased to 5k and when rebound saves you, you get 3s of invul and all your conditions are removed. out of fairness the cooldown could be increased to 90s.

overall shouts are terribly weak. if not for the aura they give combined with the aura heal trait they would be completely useless. shouts need to apply a boon on use and some of them need to have a reduced cooldown.

feel the burn should give 3 stacks of might
flash freeze should give regeneration and just aoe chill, without the delay.
aftershock needs 30s cd and not 45. it should also give you protection.
eye of the storm should give you fury and a shocking aura. the cooldown reduced 30s.

wash the pain away is a nice heal and my favourite tempest skill.

furthermore the aura heal trait needs to heal for more. currently with celestial it is 1058 (tooltip). it should be increased to 1500 which is a fair number imo.

i cannot really talk about warhorn because i simply saw no reason to pick this weapon over focus. i can’t give any feedback here, sorry.

karl, or any dev that reads this: tempest needs help, a lot of help. it’s the 2nd weakest elite spec after berserker and is currently struggling to fulfill its close range support role.

Well, it’s probably because all the feedback they got during the betas was all about how underwhelming they were.

ANet listened and boosted the class.

boosting the power of an elite spec when people didn’t like its concept is… not the way to go.

it’s been like this since bwe and it’s still not fixed… it’s really annoying because it’s the only “reliable” condi cleanse we have.

just had a case where i had 11 bleed stacks and weakness and it just didn’t cleanse anything at all…

i can understand that some bugs can be nasty to fix but it would be nice to at least have a dev aknowledge the bug and tell us if they’re working on it or what’s the problem with it.

hi im jekkt.6045, a longtime pvp player from switzerland playing since beta.

with the upcoming pvp leagues and challenger/pro league i am looking for a serious and experienced pvp team that is willing to not only play in tournaments but to win them.
i am capable of playing elementalist on the highest level and the two classes i plan on playing in a team are ele and revenant.

i have no problems with the basics of pvp, i watch the map, i call inc/kills/respawns/bursts/ccs and so on. i expect the same of my future team.

i have experience with tournaments, ag, esl, go4 in which i have played with former teams and pugs.

my english is fluid and i’m also able to speak german if needed.

unyielding anguish needs to become a leap finisher, it even leaps when you use the skill.. and it would justify the energy cost.

the confusion skill is okay

the resistance skill needs to become a stunbreak

the heal needs more base heal

the elite needs to be changed completely. aoe 5 target corrupt that turns boons into torment with a ration of 1:2 (3 boons max, 6 torment max) and increases your stats by 10% for 8 seconds or so. 50 energy cost. why not keep the big boom on elites, mallyx is the only elite that doesn’t fit in that category.

mace 3 needs to become an evade.

mace auto attack could profit from more base direct damage.

axe 4 needs 900 range

axe 5 needs to either collapse faster or affect a bigger area.

Dagger aura has 25 seconds or 33% less if they take the trait, but they can instead get a second one whenever they are hit by CC in the same tier. If they use scepter they aren’t losing mobility and using focus gives a ton of survivability so not seeing the problem, all they are losing is RtL which isn’t that good compared with all the mobility power creep.

then play tempest and see for yourself…

air overload doesn’t stun. air overload has a 20s cooldown if they were not playing fresh air. IF they were playing fresh air and aurashare their, survivability would have been low because of the lack of their earth traitline. It’s possible that they weren’t running water at all and the misconception of their aurashare comes from the fact that shouts apply auras to allies without the water grandmaster. furthermore tempest’s damage is subpar but i can understand that it can kill people if you let a mesmer and a hammer revenant freecast; which is the next issue.

mesmers and hammer revenants (and necros) are generally very happy if you just let them freecast so that they can kill you easily without getting interrupted.

now what should your team do? you send people after them. why would your whole team stand on the node anyway?

and well… staff daredevils are not really a threat, that was just added bonus.

Tempest has low survivability with nearly permanent protection, 1 stack of stability per overload and nearly permanent 1 second stun per 2 seconds while still having water heals.

yes that’s right. you don’t have the mobility of a d/d ele and overloads leave you vulnerable for damage because you can’t dodge for 4 seconds without breaking the overload. you’re also not getting as many shocking auras as you might think.

actually they don’t. unrelenting assault is the only skill that makes sense dodging on sword. the rest is auto attacks.

on staff it’s skill 5 and on hammer it’s skill 2, 3 and 5 if you’re too lazy to walk out of them.

i was trying to switch to revenant because i got bored of playing d/d ele for more than a year.. then they nerfed revenant.. so i went back to ele and started playing support tempest. then they removed minstrel amulet :^) i could go back to d/d ele but i’m not gonna do that. i could play celestial tempest but it just doesn’t feel rewarding.

the problem is, even during bwe1-3, out of all devs working on the elite specs we got the one who was the least talkative, especially in the ele forum.

it would be nice if karl just opened a thread asking for feedback on x and y, or talk about his ideas, asking what we think about z. one can only dream.

unrelenting assault:

- dodge it
- block it
- stand next to a wall
- stand next to allies / ai
- interrupt it, casting time is 3/4s
- go into stealth

infuse light:

- don’t attack when heal is up
- burst when not in glint
- watch enemy buffs
- use your brain
- don’t brainlessly spam your aoe
- poke until rev is forced to activate heal
- bait the heal

crystal hybernation:

- everything that is unblockable: phoenix, mirrorblade, toolkit pull, traps, etc

other than its damage revenant is weak. there are so many counters to revenants…

just before a while it worked normally though, you had those 12k damage from mist form but you also had the rest of the death breakdown. maybe it has something to do with them tinkering around with vampirism runes to fix them.. even though they just removed the 6th effect completely now.

yeah, a full zerk mesmer can heal 7.5k every 20s. now take class X whose auto attack deals 2k/s and you see that the mesmer’s heal is nowhere near enough. ofc as a mesmer you won’t get hit nonstop but it’s a fact that you will take damage, no matter what you do.

if you play without supports you or the enemy team won’t live long which is a bad thing for conquest. matches would be extremely snowbally and frustrating, just as frustrating as when nothing dies at all.

you can’t have a a “sustained” burst meta without having supports. how do you want to keep your dps alive? the closest we had to this was pre specs when we had 2 bruiser and hammer guard thief + last dps. with a real combo you more or less oneshot people, that’s not what you want. on the other hand the power creep has come to gw2 and you can’t run something like this anymore because 2 celestial supports are not enough.

no, stealth thief/mes was not what i meant. back then you had dps classes with stuns and quickness, quickness was 100% then, and you basically 100-0 somebody if you got your combo off. it was most of the time 1 tank (bunker guardian, one of the oldest specs they just killed again) and 4 dps, s/p thief, bullscharge gs warrior, power necro etc etc.

full dps is very bad for the game and full bruiser is very bad for the game.

they removed minstrel, an amulet that opened up the possibilities to run 2 support 3 dps. now we can go back to 3-4 bruisers and 1-2 dps.
just because some people tried to run too many tanky builds doesn’t mean that this was the way to go. another thing people always forget is that, and you will laugh now, decap engi is the counter to a full tank/bruiser setup.

i disagree. conquest is a point holding game mode. to hold points you need to be able to tank damage. i wouldn’t mind dps if it was a tdm but this is conquest.. people should accept this already. on launch we had a dps meta and it was disgusting. i hope we never go back to that.

best meta was pre specialisations (3 traitlines).

the thing that makes me laugh the most is that people seriously think if anet removes celestial soldier and sentinel that “full marauder” setups will become meta.
nope that’s wrong: what we would get is a full out condi meta with maybe 1 direct damage amulet.

lately i have the issue that my death breakdown is not showing anything which is really annoying. i don’t know if this is an ele only problem but just now all it showed me was “mist form damage”.

Jekkt’s opinion is not shared by everyone.

The story was enjoyable and had some epic moments. Masteries are an effort to get, but its fun getting them, so where’s the grind?

To answer the OP, no, you shouldn’t buy for just the Rev, but it’s fun as hell, especially in the open world. There is plenty of more to the expac, don’t let the haters disuade you too much.

They are hating on a game they probably have 60 hours on in 5 days. At that rate of gameplay we basically paid a dollar an hour.

i’m not hating on the expansion. i’m just looking at it with an objective view.
there are good and bad things in HoT, things that you like and things that i like.

all i’m saying is that he should wait for the price to drop as the expansion is not worth its full price off 44€, much less for just the revenant. Infact, half it and it would be a fair price.

the story is bad, masteries are a grind and pvp balance is pretty much ruined (although that has nothing to do with buying the expansion or not). is the expansion worth the price for revenant only? no, it’s not even worth the money for the whole thing. do yourself a favor and wait until the price goes down.

the only things that are good are the visuals and the 3d models.

i find it interesting that so many people pray to lord chaith and worship him as a god just because they think he must be right because he played in wts. there are many pvp players that just play as long as he does and have the same amount of insight and might not agree with him.

try playing a full support spec now with 13k hp and you will see how good you do. the amulet was needed but they just removed it and now we can all go back to 3-4 celestial per team. build diversity at its finest.

No. The core idea is good.

There are other things that need to happen, but Tablet should stay.

+1 An independently placable tablet is far superior to an “aura” or whatever the suggestion really amounts to. Tablet needs a bit of help in some areas, but this sure isn’t one of them.

while it might be easy for pve where you can shove the tablet to your zerg the moving tablet is actually very terrible for pvp because you never stack people and when players kite they jump up on spots where the tablet can’t reach at all. while ventari could be used for pve it will never be touched in serious pvp play for just that very reason. so i’d rather have something that can be used everywhere instead of just in pve.

i love how people talk about druid and bunker guard, completely forgetting that there was a third spec using the amulet. yeah, nobody cares about tempest which needed this amulet the most.

support in gw2 is nothing like healers in traditional mmos. a support in gw2 gives out boons, peels a bit and gives small amounts of healing to his allies and cleanses conditions while he stands on the node and the other players fight around it. in gw2 you drop the squishiest dps first, not the support..

of course a support needs to be able to tank damage…. you have to stand on a point, you’re the backbone of a team, supporting them. if the support drops before everything else then where’s the reason to even bring a support…..

just because people are too stupid to rotate and 1v3 a support spec that gives up damage for support doesn’t make an amulet unabalanced. if you 1v1 a minstrel player on a neutral node your taking their complete support out of a big teamfight. but people rather 1v3 and complain instead of going for the other 2 nodes…..

What were the stats on it? I never even got to see it before they removed it…

around 1000 toughness, 500 vit, 1000 healing power and 37% boon duration.
